Bergwelt Grindelwald - Alpine Design Resort

Our stay at BG was five stars in every way. The location is ideal and within walking distance to so many great activities. This helped us make the most of our stay in the Alps. The staff was Friendly and helpful and the amenities truly made it a relaxing and special trip. There are several different saunas, an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool which were easy to use at all different times. The view of the Eiger from our room was the most breathtaking view either of us have ever had. We can’t recommend this hotel enough and are already planning our next stay here!

Great hotel! Nicely designed, staff are friendly and helpful. Get the breakfast - wide variety of options including healthy ones. The train drop off came in handy (hello Pedro!) Gym and pools are also nicely maintained and with the latest equipment. Just be aware that it’s uphill, in case you have luggage and there’s no pickup service available. Only 6 minutes from the main Grindewald train station. Choose the Mountain View - the view and the shadow of the Eiger make it all worth it!

Property looks great and some staff is good. But the property lacks several things because of which I wouldnt recommend it. - It is not family friendly. No prior heads up regarding limited hours for swim with kids (only for 2 hours around noon when most families are out for tourism) - Unreliable shuttle service. Not guaranteed for a specific time, so basically you def need to have a backup service for the time esp if you have a timed attraction (e.g., I almost missed Jungfrau because I didnt get the shuttle that I reserved 24 hours in advance, and had to then run with baby and her stuff towards the train to catch on time, after waiting for shuttle for 15 mins) - Huge stair case leading to the entrance and there was no email regarding how to enter the property esp if you are arriving with kids/ luggage - Very inconsistent policies? Some staff will hand you water bottles when asked and some will deny rudely? I would have been okay if no one was handing over water bottles to anyone

This hotel saved us when we realized we were no longer camper van people. I went from showering in freezing cold water to the most glorious and beautiful bathroom! I went from sleeping in fetal position to the softest linens and pillows… I went from a grocery store breakfast, to the best hotel breakfast of my life!!! Would 10000% stay here again. The spa alone would make me come back. We also love the hotel bar, it’s actually the reason we booked the hotel! We got a drink and the next night… no more camping!!!!

Globalement bonne expérience, l'hôtel est propre, calme. Bon petit déjeuner, le spa est sympa aussi. Parking et recharge pour voiture électrique sur place. Corbeille de bienvenue et petit cadeau de départ inclus! Seuls bémols, le check-in a été un peu expéditif, car ils attendaient un grand groupe de personnes après nous. Notre réservation au restaurant a été annulée et annoncée a notre arrivée.

Our stay at the Bergwelt was amazing.From start to finish the staff were fantastic,very friendly and helpful.The spa was so relaxing and all facilities and amenities were very clean.The indoor pool was very nice with a additional steam room which was a nice touch.The food at the hotel was fabulous we had the Mixed Grill which was amazing and I would highly recommend.Included in our stay was Breakfast which was fantastic everyday their was a wide range of options to suit all and the food was always delicious and fresh.I would definitely recommend this hotel any time of the year,as it was fabulous.We stayed in the luxury room which was very spacious and had a really nice balcony.Included in our stay was a free mini bar which was another massive bonus to our stay. We will definitely visit again.

The hotel is nice but the service has a bit of attitude - it’s a no at first and then after asking again they think about it. Not sure why as it’s meant to be 5 star - it’s not at that level. Lovely spa but booking your slot is a chore, as is dealing with the spa staff who are never at their desk. Everything has an extra charge including the car park and even just bringing plates / cutlery to your room to borrow. Nice place but didn’t leave with a great feeling.

Staff at reception and restaurant was very nice but didn’t go the (extra?) mile for one to feel really at home and appreciated. Useful information wasn’t provided at check-in so we discovered some things „after the fact“ like the shuttle to the Terminal station for example. It could also be a bit cleaner e.g. the ski locker room still had empty bottles lying around on the floor after 2 days. Housekeeping could also be more diligent - we had a roll of clean trash bags left in the room and dirty dishes weren’t cleaned out. In short - CHF 600 per night for a normal room is bit high for what you get.

The hotel is very clean. The buffet breakfast food is fresh and plentiful. The staff well mannered and friendly. The room was nice and comfortable. Location was excellent. You can walk anywhere within minutes. The spa has several different temperature saunas and a 2 steam rooms. The jacuzzi is outside. Wish the water temp was higher. Great hotel.

Das ges. Personal war sehr freundlich, besonders im Frühstücksraum! Die Zimmerbar wurde jeden Tag aufgefüllt, was ich so noch nie erlebt habe. Das Zimmer entsprach nicht der Abbildung. Da der Preis, trotz früher Buchung, sehr hoch war, fand ich dies sehr enttäuschend. Ich würde mir wünschen , dass die Räumlichkeit incl. Badezimmer feucht durchgewischt wird.

Wonderful stay here. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and quiet. The food at breakfast each morning and at the restaurant was great. We also took advantage of the spa amenities having a massage and using the various saunas, steam rooms and pool. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I really enjoyed my short stay, I felt super comfortable the moment I got into my room. It was super clean and tidy which is always the most important thing for me. The view of the Eiger was amazing. The staff was super nice and helpful, I even had to go to the hospital because I got ill and the lady at the desk was super nice and helpful with finding me a doctor. The staff was super accommodating with everything I needed or any question I had, I actually was a bit sad to leave. I did not get to use the spa or pools as I forgot to bring my bikini and didn't have enough time but it looked absolutely wonderful. I like the concept of having to book a slot so that it doesn't get too busy, which really adds to feeling super zen. I was a solo traveller and the other guests were mostly couples. I will definitely be back another time, solo or not!

The staff was not very attentive or helpful with the exception of transportation driver who provided excellent service & great restaurant recommendations. The bartender has zero personality and the atmosphere was hollow. My room had trash in the bathroom and housekeeping didn’t come to clean it when I called to ask for it to be cleaned. The restaurant at night was dead. Besides a great location, there was nothing positive about the staff or the room.

The hotel is gorgeous and the location is spectacular. Upon check in the front desk worker was very rude to another guest. Then very short with us. We upgraded to a rooftop suite and the room smelled like raw sewage. We ordered room service and they left the cart in the hall way all of the next day. Old hamburger and onion made the entire hall smell awful. The property is great but the staff is apathetic at best. There was one gentleman from the Dominican Republic and a young lady named Morgan that were very pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is very nice but we found the rooms to be very warm and had no air conditioning.

Breakfast is good but the room needs more lighting. The coffee cups are not ceramic and look cheap. Our room is on top of the entrance and is noisy. We booked the shuttle service from the hotel to the train station but it was canceled without informing us in advance.

Unser Aufenthalt im Bergwelt Grindelwald war fast perfekt – so perfekt, dass wir jedes Mal kurz dachten: Jetzt aber! … und dann kam doch wieder ein kleines „Aber“ um die Ecke geschlichen. Als Eltern zweier kleiner Energiebündel suchten wir dringend Pärchenzeit. Das Zimmerupgrade? Legendär! MERCI! Das Zimmer selbst: wunderschön. Die Dusche: eher Gebirgsbächlein als Wasserfall – Wasserdruck war wohl gerade in den Ferien. Die Wellnessanlage: richtig schick! Nur schade, dass ein Ruheraum fehlte – wir hätten uns gern mal wie zwei Dalai Lamas auf Wellness-Entzug gefühlt. Das Abendessen: geschmacklich top! Portionen: eher „Sterneküche trifft Diätwoche“. Zum Glück gab’s Brot – viel Brot. Sehr viel Brot. Das Frühstück: überragend! Bis ein Rohrbruch für leichte Panik sorgte. Ein bisschen fühlte es sich an, als würde gleich die Zimmerdecke zu uns brunchen kommen. Das Personal war superfreundlich – wirklich! Deutschkenntnisse allerdings so mittel. Teilweise fühlte es sich an wie ein kleiner Sprachkurs inklusive Pantomime. Trotz all dieser Mini-Häkchen: Wir haben die Zeit extrem genossen und empfehlen das Hotel gerne weiter – aber eben immer mit einem klitzekleinen, charmanten „Aber“.

Overall, it's a great, clean, chic looking resort and the breakfast is fabulous and the staff is friendly. However, room comfort is where all the points are deducted. The AC does not work well and at their default setting, it did not feel cool enough even after we requested them to turn the temperature down. The fan is very noisy and kills all the nice ambience of the room. There is not even a single USB wall charger in the entire room. No iron in the room by default, we had to ask for it and it took some time before it was made available.

The hotel was fantastic in all aspects. The rooms however, could have done with more lighting as it was very dark and difficult to get ready in the morning. Also another pillow would have been useful as the pillows are very soft.

The room is too dark at night. Not enough lights. The room itself is nice and spacious.

We had booked a luxury room, although it was a nice room, it was nothing like the pictures shown on the website and although on floor one, we were at ground level by gardens so we couldn’t open the door to let air in due to the insects. The air conditioning in the room is not effective at all so we had a couple of nights of not being able to sleep properly. This was made worse by the shower not having a door from the room, so the steam just stayed in the room! The decor in the room and throughout is lovely and the spa is beautiful. The location is really central.

beautiful hotel be careful when you book a “luxury room” it is nice however there is no view of the mountain they are inside rooms with a view of a garden would suggest luxury room with eiger view as the best option

Expensive hotel with good breakfast compared with any other hotels in Switzerland. No air conditioning but only have cooling system. Air conditioning is a must and critical requirement to choose hotel in Europe.

Lovely hotel in a great location. However, communication between reception and housekeeping needs addressing. We asked for comfort pillows twice but these never arrived. Also asked for the heated towel rail to be addressed as we could not get it to work. When the issues were raised on departure, reception brushed it aside with no apology.

The hotel is really nice, and I would stay again. Definitely seems the nicest in the area. The breakfast was excellent and the spa was really spacious and amazing. A few annoying things: - they forgot to clean our room - room service comes with a 10 CHF charge (or you can go to the kitchen and collect it yourself?!) - shuttle pick up from station didn’t arrive - reception told us that the lift for skiing was closed, later we found out it was open and ample skiing available

We were very happy with our stay at this hotel. The facilities were great, and the included breakfast was of high quality. The hotel’s shuttle service made our trip much more convenient. Staff member Wesker was especially helpful throughout our stay, providing plenty of useful information about both the hotel and the town. Highly recommend.

I have been 5 times to Grindewald and this is the worst stay ever. The night before my departure. I contacted the front desk to please help me arrange transportation to the train terminal. I needed to be at the train terminal by 0600 am. To make it on time for my international flight. I was notified that they dont start providing transportation until 0800 am. I asked for help to help me find a taxi or other private transfer methods. The staff did not have a taxi contact info. He told me to google it. He did not know the bus schedule either. He told me my only choice was to walk to the terminal early in am. With freezing temperatures, 3 females, and one of them really sick. I wasnt going to walk with all our luggage. As we walked from the train station earlier during the day. And it was sleepary and dangerous due to weather and therr was ice on sidewalks. I explained to the person in reception that I was risking lossing my international flight from Zurich. He did not seem to care. He did not make any efforts to help me find a solution. I tried contacting a taxi and private transfer but I do not speak German and did not undertand the voicemails. I ended up having to wait until 0800 am. Did not make it to Zurich on time. My sisters were flying to a destination were the arline only provd only 1 return flight from Madrid a week. So the rest has been a total nightmare. We ended having to purchase new tickets and make extra connections and spending more $$$$.

stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and overall had a very pleasant experience with some minor concerns Front Desk – 8/10 Some staff were warm and welcoming, while others spoke with a straight face and felt less approachable. One staff member helped us book tickets to Jungfraujoch but made a mistake in the process; thankfully, I caught the error and he corrected it right away with an apology. Breakfast – 10/10 Absolutely amazing! The variety and quality of food were outstanding, and everything was prepared with great care. Special mention to the omelette chef (Sept 2–5) — he was exceptionally friendly, sincere, and made delicious omelettes that set a wonderful tone for breakfast. That said, I did notice that certain female staff seemed to serve only Caucasian travelers with coffee and omelettes while not extending the same service to others. It created an uncomfortable impression of inconsistency, and I also noticed another reviewer had raised a similar concern. I truly hope this was not intentional, but consistency in service would make all guests feel equally welcome. Housekeeping – 10/10 Although we chose not to have our room cleaned during our stay, whenever staff delivered drinks or tissue paper, they were extremely polite and friendly. Excellent service. Spa – 8/10 The spa design felt a bit inconvenient. To use the sauna versus the hot tub, I had to repeatedly change in and out of swimwear, which disrupted the experience. Also, the “naked rules” in the sauna areas

Beautiful property completely wasted by awful horrible rude staff. Immediately started off by a rude person at reception checking us in followed by our two bedroom suite that was supposedly ready was actually still uncleaned when we dropped our luggage off. When we notified them of the issue it took them an additional 3 hours to complete the cleaning process which was way after the actual promised check in time. By far their most disgusting practice was that the bar/restaurant staff was clearly routinely engaging in racist behavior and would only speak to and serve caucasian guests at breakfast and bring them coffee or breakfast items from the buffet (which by the way they can serve themselves) where as the asian guests would be completely ignored. The management team was completely useless when I brought up the check in issues and in fact had the audacity to argue with me when they clearly dropped the ball at check in. No attempt was made to apologize or correct the behavior during the rest of our stay.

Beautiful modren property and the staff there is amazing. Good location to go many places and for activities. I highly recommend this place.

Fabulous time great location staff was wonderful and the food at the restaurant was absolutely amazing !! It is only about. 10 min walk from the train station. But with luggage it’s a challenge as it’s up hill. I would recommend calling the hotel van to come and get you.

Great location to explore the Jungfrau region, close to the cable car to First and within walking distance from the train station to Interlaken. Very modern and clean hotel with spacious rooms. Make use of the saunas and spa access that overlooks the mountain faces, truely spectacular!

Very unique property in the middle of the village. Staff were all very friendly and breakfast was awesome. Walking distance to Grindelwald train station that connects to rest of Switzerland. Loved our stay.

LOVED this property. The staff was so pleasant and eager to please. Everyone was helpful and so personable. It’s close to the train station and town. Location is perfect. The room was beautiful and the complimentary upgrade was exceptional. Would definitely recommend. Oh and the morning breakfast was fantastic! Thank you

Beautiful hotel and lovely staff. The included breakfast buffet was the best I’ve ever experienced filled with healthy and well-made options. Cozy lobby with fireplace. Nice pool with steam room, walkable to town and ski lift.

The hotel is very nice and new. Rooms are dark but chic and comfortable. Spa is nice and massage was excellent. The lobby bar was understaffed- it took a while to get a drink and pay- and BG’s restaurant was not good and very overpriced. I ordered my CHF 74 steak medium rare and it arrived medium well. I sent it back and nearly 20 minutes later- after my companion had finished her meal- my new steak arrived. This too was well overcooked. I tried to alert the manager who advised a server he was too busy to speak to me. I demanded to speak to him and he finally came over and offered to take the steak off the bill. The meat wasn’t tasty though and my friend- whose steak arrived according to her order- didn’t like hers either. The meat simply wasn’t good. The Pinte restaurant is a much better option- friendly, less expensive and tastier.

One of the most stunning hotels and areas I’ve ever stayed. Loved the decor and rooms are so well done and cozy. Great beds and showers. We had a lot of issues with the AC and couldn’t open the windows because the restaurant downstairs was loud, but they tried to help and other than that our stay was amazing. Amazing breakfast and the spa/wellness center are 5 stars.

Bergwelt is an incredible hotel for an Alpine experience! Clean, elegant hotel, located very centrally in the village of Grindelwald, next to Mt First and a few minutes from the train station. the service was also excellent, especially Júlio and Gabriela at breakfast! It has a good ski room, which gets a little crowded in high season. as a suggestion for improvement, there could be more intermediate food options. room service has few options and has a high fee and the hotel restaurant is quite expensive. Furthermore, it was our second time at BERGWELT and we loved our stay!

The receptionists were pleasant. Nice lobby/ interior decor. Very nice, spacious room, and comfortable bed. Love having a balcony with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Really good buffet breakfast, and love their selection of teas. Served the best buffet breakfast out of all the hotels we stayed at during our 2-week Switzerland trip.

Hotel et spa très sympa avec et bon accueil et et un petit dej généreux! Par contre, le restaurant ! Je ne comprends pas pourquoi si nous prévenons plusieurs jours en avance qu’il y a une personne sans viande et sans lactose qu’ils n’arrivent pas à anticiper un plats adapter ! Le diable ce cache dans le détail et cela et vrai quand il s’agit de vouloir apporter un service de qualité ou pas! Un peu déçu de ce service là

Hotel novo, estilo alpino. O spa é muito bom, da pra relaxar nas piscinas e usar as saunas sem custo. Café da manha excelente. Única decepção foi o restaurante do hotel. Jantamos uma noite e os preços eram exagerados para os pratos oferecidos (nada que se destaque).
