Holbox by Xaloc

The property is quaint and in a great location, beach is amazing and an easy walk to town and fun walk to punta mosquito. The rooms are almost identical to Blue Holbox (non beach front rooms). The hot water for showering was non-existent though, possibly two days out of seven where we had warm water for a brief period of time. Included breakfast menu and food was just ok, we found it strange that we would tip the wait staff, however, getting more than one cup of coffee was almost impossible and many times the wait staff seemed to ignore us when we requested more coffee. We ordered a couple of drinks from the bar service, prices were ok but the waiters do not serve on the beach. There also is a bar advertised at the adult only pool but it appears has not been in use in quite some time. Street noise can be pretty loud at night from the ATVs. Front desk staff (Adam) was great and always aimed to please and provide suggestions. We rented bikes from the front desk for a day and it was very easy and prices were similiar to in town prices. The cleaning guy was great, so kind and very appreciative of tips. Beach staff always set up chairs very nicely and kept the beach area clean. Wifi is only available near the front desk but the property makes that very clear and so it was not an issue. There are several well loved cats on the property which were fun to interact with. Overall, the property is average for what you get in Holbox and I would likely consider returning.

Me gusto que esta cerca de la playa , solo creo que le falta camastros con techo en la orilla de la playa y pantalla en la habitacion.

The space was perfect and beautiful for our family stay. Breakfast included was delicious. We thought it was a continental type breakfast but no. This is a full cooked to order meal. Staff was great, they went out of their way to help us. The beach access is great and the pool is nice too.

Loved this place, stayed for 2 nights but wish we could have stayed a week. Breakfast was very good and had good option for vegans with some subs. Staff was friendly and well maintained pool and beach area. Loved it!

Everything was absolutely amazing! Beautiful huts as rooms. Only thing I will mention is the water for the pool is insanely cold. Hence, it was empty most of the time.

El personal nos trato excelente, el lugar es muy bonito y tranquilo, lo único que me gustaría es que hubiera palapas y camastros en el área de la playa, que fuera más bonito y cómodo de estar ahí sin el sol encima.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful and relaxing time on Holbox. The staff at Xaloc were always courteous and attentive, while giving us the space to relax. Our cabana was comfortable and was kept clean. We loved having a cabana by the family pool side 5min walk to many restaurants.Hotel breakfast was great! Fruit and pan dulce with coffee and juice, followed by a selection from a diverse and filling breakfast menu which is included with the stay. They didn't run out of any food items during our stay. The last 3 days we ate lunch at the hotel too, well priced and delicious, with service on the beach, poolside, room or in restaurant. As a note to set expectations, the loungers with umbrellas are only on the land side of the road, so if you want shade you have to deal with the steady flow of golf cars driving in front of you. The adjacent hotels all offer shaded loungers on the ocean side of the road. General comment about Holbox, there are waaay too many golf cars. People rent them or taxi instead of walking. In early April, the sargasso was really bad. They do what they can to clear it, but there's a lot of it. People on Holbox are trustworthy, which is a shocking contrast with the Cancun airport pirhannas. Book a shuttle from the airport to Chiquila for 350 pesos pp (sounds too good to be true but it works and is comfortable), or take the ADO bus (similar cost and comfort). Taxi will change you $392 USD to Chiquila. We loved our stay and all the restaurants we got to dine at.

The bunglows are very nice and the property is lovely. We really enjoyed the "family" pool, which was right by our bungalow. The "adult" pool was nice, although we were disappointed that the swim up bar was not open during our stay. Adam at reception was extremely helpful and made our visit more enjoyable!

Had to change rooms due to AC no working properly. After heavy rain, water leak from the ceiling. Staff was great !! Good access to beach but a good walk the the city center .

Buen servicio por parte del personal, amables y atentos. La habitación sencilla, sin tv, pero limpia. El baño no muy iluminado, las almohadas muy altas y firmes. Tiene acceso a la playa lo cual es muy cómodo, el centro de Holbox está a unas 8 cuadras caminando. El desayuno (que está incluido) fue muy rico. El menú no es muy variado pero el personal siempre dispuesto a realizar cualquier cambio. Nos sentimos a gusto en el hotel, lo recomendamos.

Nice Hotel right at the beach. Very friendly staff and the location is perfect as the hotel is not too far from the city center (10min walk) but far away from all the beach bars which can get a little louder when they turn on the music. Forget the fancy hotels at the end of the island you will always have to take a taxi to get to the city center. Hotel is clean. It is not a luxury hotel but we felt very comfortable there for the 3 days we stayed in Holbox. Breakfast is ok, wifi is available rounnd the reception.

Aufgrund der traditionellen Bauweise alles sehr hellhörig und man wird häufig durch das Brummen irgendwelcher Generatoren gestört. Zimmer ansonsten sehr geräumig und Sanitäreinrichtungen sauber und gut. Die Frühstücksleistung ist leider nur wenig ansprechend. Der Raum schmucklos und oft gab es nicht mal Untertassen oder Löffel für den Kaffee. Nochmals: Schon ok aber nicht für den Preis. Strandlage sehr gut. Weit genug weg vom Trubel, aber wenn man will, ist man in 6-7 min zu Fuß im Zentrum. Größtes Manko ist aber das WiFi in der Anlage. Kein Empfang in den Bungalows, nur ein paar Meter um die Rezeption herum überhaupt eine Verbindung. Die ist so langsam als hätte man ein Analogmodem im Einsatz. Das geht im Jahr 2022 gar nicht! Alle drum herum können das offensichtlich besser. Für einen Drittel des Preises ok, sonst leider zu teuer für das Gebotene.

These rooms are amazing! So comfortable, quiet and a very short walk to the beach. I wish we would’ve had more time here. The lady at the front desk (Eva, I believe) was amazing, nice and very knowledgeable. The breakfast was great and they made it to-go for us since we were leaving early the next morning.

Die Unterkunft ist toll, man hat wirklich alles, was man auf dieser Insel braucht, auch wenn es keinen (Kühl-)Schrank und nur sehr schlechtes Wlan gibt. Die Lage ist fantastisch, alles zu Fuss gut erreichbar, das Bett war superbequem, die Gartenanlage ist üppig und hübsch angelegt, der Empfang war herzlich um 21:00. Beide Poolanlagen sind erfrischend und sauber. Wir haben uns auch andere Unterkünfte in der Nähe angesehen, diese sind preislich deutlich höher, sprachen uns aber keineswegs mehr an. Wir hatten Meerblick gebucht und bekommen, wir würden wieder hier buchen, das Hotel passt gut zu einer Reise nach Holbox, es gibt keinen Luxus, aber es ist trotzdem alles nötige da.

The staff was awesome, they could not have been nicer or more helpful. The accommodations were great, the kid friendly pool was a big hit and the staff was top notch.

La habitación pegada a la calle un ruido terrible, no se puede descansar, las camas muy duras, no había agua caliente y a pesar de reportarlo y pedir apoyo nadie solucionó el problema. Mi estancia iba a ser por 4 noche, solo estuve 2 y corrí de ahí. Pésimo lugar

Vi har nydt vores ophold. Stedet er dejligt og ligger 100m fra stranden. Fra hotellet er det let af gå mod byen enten langs vandet eller på vejen. Ca. en kilometer til centrum, men masser af spisesteder/ barer undervejs. Bungalow er rummelig. Personalet er venligt. Wifi virker kun i lobby, restaurant og biblioteket- og det er sløvt. Morgenmaden består af lidt frisk frugt, et glas saft, kaffe, et valg fra menukortet f.eks. omelet, spejlæg eller. Lign. Dertil fire små stykker brød og 1 marmelade og smør Per person. Synes der burde være yoghurt inkl. i morgenmad - og gerne bedre brød. Vil anbefale andre at booke her.

Booked oceanfront king bed. Room isn’t ocean front since there is a long courtyard then a street then the beach then the ocean so you do not see ocean from your room. Its a pool side room. Property is very nice. Area is very noisy since rooms are next to street and the windows do not close so you clearly hear anyone walking, talking or driving by. Room did have AC unit but room was still very hot since windows do not completely close. We had to sleep naked and shower in the middle of the night. Free breakfast was terrible. Lunch and dinner options were delicious. Staff very friendly. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Bring bug spray!!!!! Mosquitos are out of control on Isla Holbox.

If you are looking for a place to chill, relax and have fun, you must come here! All the staff were really friendly (Adan, Eva, Adrian) the food in the breakfast was really nice and the best is that the hotel has a club beach so you can relax near the sea! I'll back :)

the property met expectations. Management lead by Eva was most helpfull. By the way, she organized private transport back to Cancun airport. Excellent service at a very reasonable price. Big plus for us. congratulations Eva for the team you lead including receiptionist Adam.

Fantastique, le personnel est au petits soins, adorables, toujours présent pour apporter ses conseils et aide. En arrivant à la réception nous avons eu une serviette rafraîchissante ainsi qu’un jus de fruits frais, particulièrement appréciable vu la chaleur. Gros plus! L’hôtel paye un trajet de taxi pour aller au restaurant, belle surprise ! Pour les fumeurs, nous avons pu fumer partout en extérieur dans la zone de l’hôtel 😁 Wifi uniquement présent au niveau de la réception

Our only complaint was the air conditioning wasn’t very strong. We loved this hotel. Access to the beach and restaurants was incredible. The staff were amazingly accommodating and helpful. On our last day the island was being evacuated ahead of a hurricane, but the staff continued to go above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I would highly recommend.

Even though, the island had a blacked out, the manager made the impossible to keep us comfortable. Adan, the concierge, is the best, he gave us amazing recommendations and helped us to make our stayed unforgetable. Thank you to all the staff.

Réceptionniste et personnel extraordinaires.Le lieu est sublime, des petites maisons dans la nature avec une piscine qui se fond au décor. Service au restaurant pour les petits déjeuners.C’était merveilleux

We stayed here during the hurricane. Our trip was cut short because of it. We loved our two nights there the hotel helped arrange the transportation to make it so easy getting there. When the hurricane caused the island to evacuate Eva was an absolute all star. Calm and cool and went so outta her way to make sure everyone was taken care of. She truly cared and gave all she could to help. I can’t wait to go back again and have a longer stay the place is beautiful and walkable to everything and the stay was the best.

The staff was really attentionate and helpful. The hotel is located well. The room has everhing we needed.

Lugar padrísimo. La atención excelente. Un lugar genial para descansar. El centro de Holbox a 5 Min caminando. En verdad un lugar para disfrutar

Hotel muy bonito, llegas al centro caminando y evitas pagarle a los taxistas abusivos. Una buena zona de playa, había marea alta en la isla, pero en esta zona del hotel no se notó. Excelente servicio de Andrés en recepción, de Eduardo en el restaurante y Primitivo en el aseo de habitación. Hotel recomendable.

Property was close to town but also quiet. Quaint and clean. Beach was great. Distance to food/ town etc is walkable.

Réceptionniste et personnel extraordinaires.Le lieu est sublime, des petites maisons dans la nature avec une piscine qui se fond au décor. Service au restaurant pour les petits déjeuners.C’était merveilleux

Booked oceanfront king bed. Room isn’t ocean front since there is a long courtyard then a street then the beach then the ocean so you do not see ocean from your room. Its a pool side room. Property is very nice. Area is very noisy since rooms are next to street and the windows do not close so you clearly hear anyone walking, talking or driving by. Room did have AC unit but room was still very hot since windows do not completely close. We had to sleep naked and shower in the middle of the night. Free breakfast was terrible. Lunch and dinner options were delicious. Staff very friendly. Overall we had a wonderful stay. Bring bug spray!!!!! Mosquitos are out of control on Isla Holbox.
