Was told they had a car park. They don’t. Have to use pay and display car park. At breakfast was told they couldn’t make scrambled egg on toast. It had to be the breakfast options on the menu, to the letter. Could have had a full English or eggs Benedict but not what you want when cycling. So had to have cereal and toast. Room very warm and despite making arrangements earlier for bike storage they couldn’t put in function room as they had a party on.

Interesting building full of character. Easy paid parking out back. Staff all friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was great quality, which was just as well as not much else to choose from in Glastonbury itself on a Sunday eve.

Great hotel, absolutely dripping in atmosphere. Manage your expectations this hotel is hundreds of years old, the floors will creak, the stairs are uneven and the windows aren\'t double glazed,.all of which are massive plusses in my opinion. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly so ensure you book a table, and this was one of the minuses for me, usually when I check in to a hotel and they have a popular restaurant, I\'m normally asked "will you be dining with us tonight?" We didn\'t get that and came down to a 45 minute wait for a table, so our first night we eat elsewhere. Every thing else was great, it really is a unique place to stay.

It was such a fun experience staying in this historic Inn! The decor maintained the historical feel, and it was a fun place to stay while visiting Glastonbury. We were able to walk everywhere (including to the top of the Tor - which seemed dauting but was not that bad!) For vegetarians - we had a great plant based burger for dinner at the restaurant, and the English Breakfast included in the morning was a very hearty way to start the day. There is also a spectacular Vegan Cafe just down the street as well.

Noisy quiz night. Noisy 6.30am clanging of metal beer kegs and our final night people with two yapping and barking dogs moved in next door. 11pm and 7am noisy dogs. The staff were very nice throughout our 3 day stay. TV remote is a bit dodgy (no back cover on it) No chair to sit on in the room. The shower was great. Breakfast not as good as it used to be. Drinks at the bar much dearer than other establishments in the area. Car parking expensive.

We stayed here for 2 nights while at the festival. We couldn’t pick up the key until the previous guests had left and the guy on reception was lovely and very accommodating. He gave us a call as soon as the key was handed in so we could get to the festival ASAP in the morning. Really appreciated this! The hotel is full of character, like stepping back into a medieval village or something! Really lovely. The rooms themselves are a little dated and could benefit from a freshen up but we were literally in the room to sleep and then out again. Bed was comfy but be aware the church clock chimes regularly so take earplugs if a light sleeper. There’s an outdoor key to get in the back door after hours but we were back before midnight both nights and the door was still open. There’s a car park right behind the hotel, literally seconds from the back door. Its £6.50 for 24 hours and you can pay on app. You could also easily find parking on a residential street nearby if preferred. Breakfast was great and always served very quickly. As a vegan I was happy with the cooked breakfast and provision of plant milks. Overall location couldn’t be beaten, staff were lovely, great breakfast, no complaints, would definitely stay again.

Super cute place if you want something that gives you a taste of history. The building it beautiful and there is a olde worldy pub on the ground floor. Staff were friendly. However, with the old comes no lifts and dragging suitcases over cobblestones from the payed parking in the back and then up windy staircases. Everything has that damp feeling which also doesn't smell the best. Obvs no air con and the room itself was dated (not in the good way) . VERY central so if you want to be in the very heart of the town then its perfect and you can walk to everything.

The George and Pilgrim is right in the heart of the high street so everything is within walking distance. As can be imagined from a building of this age it is full of character and not a straight line in the place. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was welcoming and clean and the bed very comfortable for us but the room is starting to look a little shabby paint wise. The bar space is great for grabbing a pint and, if you a get a window seat, watching the world go by. There is no parking for the hotel so either park and pay in the public car park behind the hotel, at the time of writing this is £5.90 for the day, or find parking elsewhere in the town. As the hotel is in the middle of the town you can expect some street noise especially at night as pubs close for the night - this did not bother us to much however. We did eat at the George and Pilgrim but found the food very uninspiring and there are plenty of other venues in town which we feel offer better food options for a reasonable cost. Would we stay again? Yes as it offers a good comfortable place to stay to explore Glastonbury and its surrounds.

Brilliant hotel with such a historic atmosphere. Clean rooms and lovely mattresses. This is our second stay at the George and Pilgrims hotel and it definitely won’t be the last. Such lovely and helpful staff, great food. Can’t wait to return.

This hotel is full of character and history but is need of some TLC. Stayed in a family room which was a good size but in need of refurbishment. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was musty and in need of redecoration.

The staff were very kind, very sweet. The place is the oldest hotel in the area. I appreciated this. And it was clean. The cleaning lady kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. I stayed for 6 nights during a retreat. The food for breakfast was very good, they were sweet and attentive. The only thing is my room was very loud, as I could hear the bar and restaurant downstairs. So perhaps have a white noise machine and ear plugs. I believe they did provide earplugs and that was appreciated it. The drinks were good too. The other thing is that the front desk would open a bit late, so if I did need something I didn't know who to ask. Overall it was a good stay,

The staff were lovely and really helpful but clearly very over-worked. The property doesn’t deserve them. The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable but the bath was chipped, the bath side broken, the shower only partially worked and the hairdryer from the dark ages. The public areas were not so much tired as exhausted. Crumbling plaster, stained dining chairs etc. It should also be made clear that access to the bedrooms is only via a narrow spiral staircase. I realise the property is (of course) listed and will never be short of clients because of where and what it is, but it’s in dire need of refurbishment. I must reiterate that the staff were great and really friendly and helpful but it was perfectly clear to me that there are not enough of them. I would not recommend this hotel.

This historic property walks a fine between shabby chic and plain shabby. Cleanliness is ok amd the hot and cold water was fine however bath controls were difficult to use, bathroom fan sounded like an ancient diesel engine and peeling ceiling paper had been crudely sellotaped. On the positive side it is atmospheric and very central.

I’ve stayed here a few times over a range of years and know how quirky the hotel is. It’s very old and very beautiful. But, now the hotel is barely fit for purpose. Pros: the helpful and friendly staff. They obviously work so hard, but there aren’t enough of them do their jobs to a high standard. George and Pilgrims is right on the high street, perfect for all of the sights and pubs and shopping. Parking at St John’s car-park is directly behind the hotel and inexpensive per 24 hour period. The cons: filthy corridor areas. We checked in at 3pm and the areas still hadn’t been tidied. Piles of bedding in corridor, plastic bags filled with rubbish, drinking glasses, a used razor. Most of it had been cleared over the next hour. Confessional Room: horrible. Boiling hot. Fan provided and windows did open, but let in the smells from the kitchen. Couldn’t leave one of them open as it banged around in the wind. Mattress: terrible. The entire room shabby, worse than shabby. Hole in the ceiling with lining paper held in place with tape. Plenty of tea/coffee in room. Bathroom: scruffy, visible damp, but everything worked. Everything was as clean as it could be. Avoid this room. Room 10: avoid. Boiling hot, although radiators off, hot pipes running along side of room. Window could be opened, but had to be propped open. Bizarre corridor (fire escape route) between bedroom and ensuite bathroom. Corridor lighting flr 2 sometimes worked, sometimes not. Needed iphone torch.

Lovely 15th century inn in the heart of Glastonbury, central for mooching in the shops, visiting the Abbey and Chalice Well & the Tor. Fabulous four poster room overlooking the high street. Spotlessly clean. Bed could do with a better quality mattress or mattress topper though. Breakfast freshly cooked but make sure you include it with your booking as expensive otherwise and drinks extra. Overall, a lovely place to stay.

The room was welcoming and clean and the bed very comfortable for us but the room is starting to look a little shabby paint wise. The bar space is great for grabbing a pint and, if you a get a window seat, watching the world go by. There is no parking for the hotel so either park and pay in the public car park behind the hotel, at the time of writing this is £5.90 for the day, or find parking elsewhere in the town. As the hotel is in the middle of the town you can expect some street noise especially at night as pubs close for the night - this did not bother us to much however. We did eat at the George and Pilgrim but found the food very uninspiring and there are plenty of other venues in town which we feel offer better food options for a reasonable cost. Would we stay again? Yes as it offers a good comfortable place to stay to explore Glastonbury and its surrounds.

As can be imagined from a building of this age it is full of character and not a straight line in the place. The staff are friendly and helpful. We loved the antiquity of this hotel. Staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our evening meal was delicious. However - there were several downsides: Overall, the hotel’s decor is very shabby. (We were told that the hotel is due for a refurbishment this year). Our room (no 10) didn’t much resemble any of the images on the website and had the fire exit running between the bedroom and the bathroom areas! There was no door handle on the bathroom side of the door (whilst in the bathroom we had to close it by pulling on the coat hook on the internal side). The bathroom itself wasn’t screened from the fire exit corridor at all, and the bathroom itself was cramped and very tired. The shaver light had no way of switching on. The tv remote control was barely held together with selotape as the battery cover was broken, and wasn’t easy to use at all as a result. When we enquired about changing rooms the staff could only offer us a room that had suffered from water damage following a recent broken window. We declined. Breakfast was included in our room rate and offered a good choice of mostly hot food - the Eggs Royale and the Bircher muesli were fantastic. The toast offering was very disappointing - pre-packaged sliced white bread was the only option. The menu advertised ‘pastries’ but there were none to be seen. In summary - staff did their best to make our stay comfortable but the hotel itself let them down.

Lovely stay in a brilliant location. The room was very hot but the next day 2 fans appeared. The only fault was the shower kept going hot then cold which was a bit of a nightmare. The cleaning lady was very lovely & helpful😊

Great hotel, absolutely dripping in atmosphere. Manage your expectations this hotel is hundreds of years old, the floors will creak, the stairs are uneven and the windows aren\'t double glazed,.all of which are massive plusses in my opinion. Fabulous historic hotel with tremendous charm in the heart of quirky Glastonbury. We had a large room with a beautiful four poster bed. The bathroom was modern (except for the separate hot & cold water taps on the sink). I was not comfortable with the intrusive information requests and privacy waivers required to use the hotel Wi-Fi so did not use it.

Noisy quiz night. Noisy 6.30am clanging of metal beer kegs and our final night people with two yapping and barking dogs moved in next door. 11pm and 7am noisy dogs. The staff were very nice throughout our 3 day stay. TV remote is a bit dodgy (no back cover on it) No chair to sit on in the room. The shower was great. Breakfast not as good as it used to be. Drinks at the bar much dearer than other establishments in the area. Car parking expensive.

There’s no denying it, The George & Pilgrim is bursting with character and history. We stayed the night in one of their premium four poster bedrooms at the front of the inn. Very comfortable room, but shower needs attention. Service was appalling, borderline becoming a joke. After a gruelling journey we were kept waiting 35 mins at reception trying to check-in. In the end I queued at the bar (understaffed and bar blind) to check in, then told to wait at the reception.. Breakfast was a joke, coffee jug empty and the thrumpy woman who was organising it seemed angry and would walk away whilst talking to you very quickly. It all seemed a bit too much for them and made us feel like we were just an inconvenience to them. Dried up bacon (one rasher) an egg, four triangular hash browns, no sausage, a yellowing sour tomato, beans that had been on service before and to top it all .. crappy supermarket bread. I mean we paid a premium price for this? I love the building but the way it is run? Nope, just don’t work for me.

The staff were great, very friendly! The room is large and bathroom was l roomy. Everything is clean. There were fans available in the room to make it nice and cool for sleeping! I especially enjoyed the large bathroom towels, super nice! My only issue is that the mattress on the king size bed needs to be replaced. The right side has completely broken down to the point it is hanging over the side of the bed. You can actually feel the metal rod and springs of the bed when you sit on it. The twin bed in the room was lovely, the king should be replaced.

Super cute place if you want something that gives you a taste of history. The building it beautiful and there is a olde worldy pub on the ground floor. Staff were friendly. However, with the old comes no lifts and dragging suitcases over cobblestones from the payed parking in the back and then up windy staircases. Everything has that damp feeling which also doesn't smell the best. Obvs no air con and the room itself was dated (not in the good way) . VERY central so if you want to be in the very heart of the town then its perfect and you can walk to everything.

Absolutely beautiful place, the room was stunning we went for the 4 poster bed option and it did not disappoint, although the mattress on the bed was extremely hard we had a decent night's sleep, can get noisy as it's single glazed windows so cars and people outside can be really loud The main disappointment for his was the breakfast in the morning, got seated to our table and told to help ourselves to hot drinks and juice, tried making a tea, they had cups and tea bags but no hot water, so we had to ask for this where they just went off and got us a tea, which is fine until I wanted another one and I had to ask again. We then ordered breakfast, 2 Fry's up which is simple enough, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 hash browns, eggs and a little pot of beans.... This took 1 hour 10 mins to arrive after we ordered, they apologised and said it was the chefs first day covering on his own... But at the end of the day a chef is a chef whether he is on his own or not and the place was not busy, we had to check out by 11 from the room so we rushed the breakfast, it was supposed to come with toast which was never brought out and without being stuck there for another 30 minutes waiting for them to toast it we rushed up stares packed and got out pretty much exactly on 11am Eaten there before and it's always been good and quick so just leaving this to a 1 off

The staff were very kind, very sweet. The place is the oldest hotel in the area. I appreciated this. And it was clean. The cleaning lady kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. I stayed for 6 nights during a retreat. The food for breakfast was very good, they were sweet and attentive. The only thing is my room was very loud, as I could hear the bar and restaurant downstairs. So perhaps have a white noise machine and ear plugs. I believe they did provide earplugs and that was appreciated it. The drinks were good too. The other thing is that the front desk would open a bit late, so if I did need something I didn't know who to ask. Overall it was a good stay,

The staff were lovely and really helpful but clearly very over-worked. The property doesn’t deserve them. The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable but the bath was chipped, the bath side broken, the shower only partially worked and the hairdryer from the dark ages. The public areas were not so much tired as exhausted. Crumbling plaster, stained dining chairs etc. It should also be made clear that access to the bedrooms is only via a narrow spiral staircase. I realise the property is (of course) listed and will never be short of clients because of where and what it is, but it’s in dire need of refurbishment. I must reiterate that the staff were great and really friendly and helpful but it was perfectly clear to me that there are not enough of them. I would not recommend this hotel.

Wonderful people here! Helpful and friendly staff. Lots of history here, too. Nothing fancy, but I didnt need it to be. Excellent pub/restaurant downstairs. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Will visit again!

We stayed here for 2 nights while at the festival. We couldn’t pick up the key until the previous guests had left and the guy on reception was lovely and very accommodating. He gave us a call as soon as the key was handed in so we could get to the festival ASAP in the morning. Really appreciated this! The hotel is full of character, like stepping back into a medieval village or something! Really lovely. The rooms themselves are a little dated and could benefit from a freshen up but we were literally in the room to sleep and then out again. Bed was comfy but be aware the church clock chimes regularly so take earplugs if a light sleeper. There’s an outdoor key to get in the back door after hours but we were back before midnight both nights and the door was still open. There’s a car park right behind the hotel, literally seconds from the back door. Its £6.50 for 24 hours and you can pay on app. You could also easily find parking on a residential street nearby if preferred. Breakfast was great and always served very quickly. As a vegan I was happy with the cooked breakfast and provision of plant milks. Overall location couldn’t be beaten, staff were lovely, great breakfast, no complaints, would definitely stay again.

The inn itself is charming and a beautiful place to stay, most staff were great but the lady who served breakfast had the worst attitude I’ve ever come across, I asked for a table (the place was empty bar two couples and one left immediately) she huffed, said ‘she’d see what she could do but was very busy! Then she went and I could hear her having a good chat and general winge to the other staff, I was totally ignored for 15 minutes so left with my girlfriend and had breakfast next door in the Crown (v nice too)…..an hour after when we went back to check out she had the cheek to come out of her still empty dining room and loudly say ‘there’s the guy tha disappeared!!’ in a ‘let’s pretend she did nothing wrong?’….pity totally changed my experience of the George and Pilgrim….otherwise quirky and interesting place, the rest of the staff were gems.

Great hotel, absolutely dripping in atmosphere. Manage your expectations this hotel is hundreds of years old, the floors will creak, the stairs are uneven and the windows aren\'t double glazed,.all of which are massive plusses in my opinion. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly so ensure you book a table, and this was one of the minuses for me, usually when I check in to a hotel and they have a popular restaurant, I\'m normally asked "will you be dining with us tonight?" We didn\'t get that and came down to a 45 minute wait for a table, so our first night we eat elsewhere. Every thing else was great, it really is a unique place to stay.

The reception was warm, and even though we had one of the more modern rooms, it still had charm to it. The breakfast was fantastic, and the location cannot be beat if you're looking for a stay in Glastonbury.

We stayed here for 2 nights while at the festival. We couldn’t pick up the key until the previous guests had left and the guy on reception was lovely and very accommodating. He gave us a call as soon as the key was handed in so we could get to the festival ASAP in the morning. Really appreciated this! The hotel is full of character, like stepping back into a medieval village or something! Really lovely. The rooms themselves are a little dated and could benefit from a freshen up but we were literally in the room to sleep and then out again. Bed was comfy but be aware the church clock chimes regularly so take earplugs if a light sleeper. There’s an outdoor key to get in the back door after hours but we were back before midnight both nights and the door was still open. There’s a car park right behind the hotel, literally seconds from the back door. Its £6.50 for 24 hours and you can pay on app. You could also easily find parking on a residential street nearby if preferred. Breakfast was great and always served very quickly. As a vegan I was happy with the cooked breakfast and provision of plant milks. Overall location couldn’t be beaten, staff were lovely, great breakfast, no complaints, would definitely stay again.

Super cute place if you want something that gives you a taste of history. The building it beautiful and there is a olde worldy pub on the ground floor. Staff were friendly. However, with the old comes no lifts and dragging suitcases over cobblestones from the payed parking in the back and then up windy staircases. Everything has that damp feeling which also doesn't smell the best. Obvs no air con and the room itself was dated (not in the good way) . VERY central so if you want to be in the very heart of the town then its perfect and you can walk to everything.

The George and Pilgrim is right in the heart of the high street so everything is within walking distance. As can be imagined from a building of this age it is full of character and not a straight line in the place. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was welcoming and clean and the bed very comfortable for us but the room is starting to look a little shabby paint wise. The bar space is great for grabbing a pint and, if you a get a window seat, watching the world go by. There is no parking for the hotel so either park and pay in the public car park behind the hotel, at the time of writing this is £5.90 for the day, or find parking elsewhere in the town. As the hotel is in the middle of the town you can expect some street noise especially at night as pubs close for the night - this did not bother us to much however. We did eat at the George and Pilgrim but found the food very uninspiring and there are plenty of other venues in town which we feel offer better food options for a reasonable cost. Would we stay again? Yes as it offers a good comfortable place to stay to explore Glastonbury and its surrounds.

Quaint old hotel which could do with some refurbishment. A torn net curtain in the room would have beef better replaced than a poor repair. The toilet leaked water, the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day. The evening meal (chicken burger) was poor. On the positive side the staff were very pleasant and the breakfasts very good.

There’s no denying it, The George & Pilgrim is bursting with character and history. We stayed the night in one of their premium four poster bedrooms at the front of the inn. Very comfortable room, but shower needs attention. Service was appalling, borderline becoming a joke. After a gruelling journey we were kept waiting 35 mins at reception trying to check-in. In the end I queued at the bar (understaffed and bar blind) to check in, then told to wait at the reception.. Breakfast was a joke, coffee jug empty and the thrumpy woman who was organising it seemed angry and would walk away whilst talking to you very quickly. It all seemed a bit too much for them and made us feel like we were just an inconvenience to them. Dried up bacon (one rasher) an egg, four triangular hash browns, no sausage, a yellowing sour tomato, beans that had been on service before and to top it all .. crappy supermarket bread. I mean we paid a premium price for this? I love the building but the way it is run? Nope, just don’t work for me.

Totally unique hotel experience - where else can one stay in the same hotel that was enjoyed by King Henry VIII and St, Dunstan. Accordingly, the rooms are small and in the part of the hotel in which I stayed, lack of air circulation made for a warm stay! Great location in a memorable town!! Breakfast wasn't great, but the pub is a treat.

Absolutely beautiful place, the room was stunning we went for the 4 poster bed option and it did not disappoint, although the mattress on the bed was extremely hard we had a decent night's sleep, can get noisy as it's single glazed windows so cars and people outside can be really loud The main disappointment for his was the breakfast in the morning, got seated to our table and told to help ourselves to hot drinks and juice, tried making a tea, they had cups and tea bags but no hot water, so we had to ask for this where they just went off and got us a tea, which is fine until I wanted another one and I had to ask again. We then ordered breakfast, 2 Fry's up which is simple enough, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 hash browns, eggs and a little pot of beans.... This took 1 hour 10 mins to arrive after we ordered, they apologised and said it was the chefs first day covering on his own... But at the end of the day a chef is a chef whether he is on his own or not and the place was not busy, we had to check out by 11 from the room so we rushed the breakfast, it was supposed to come with toast which was never brought out and without being stuck there for another 30 minutes waiting for them to toast it we rushed up stares packed and got out pretty much exactly on 11am Eaten there before and it's always been good and quick so just leaving this to a 1 off

Fabulous central location. Parking very near. Fascinating old building. No lift, so less abled should notify. Food ok, but definitely room for improvement. Staff wonderful, but possibly spread a little thin. Overall, perfect for a central Glastonbury stay

Centrally located, easy to park. Whilst this is an Historic building so there are limits to modernisation. There is now a lack of love to corridors and stairwell as welll as rooms now stuck in the 1980's. We stayed in room 15, mattress was basic you could feel the springs, not a great night sleep. Carpet was stained and need of updating. Shower needs demoulding and regrouting. Room was gererous in size with tea ,coffee, water & biscuits and fresh milk upon request. No air con but a fan in room provided coolness. General areas and rooms would benefit from a lick of white paint to brighten up the place and make the place cleaner and less shabby.

Its difficult to judge this hotel as the building is so so old the public toilets are badly in need of some tlc and the walls need a proper distemper job done on them. You should be awarw that the parking is not free its at least £6.80 per day. As it a public car park and it can also be full so no guarantee of a parking place. As the building is very old there is no lift and the stairs are difficult to manage if your elderly we were on the second floor and I found it hard going (Im 81). Its also an old coaching stop so the restuarant is split from the bar by a passageway which goes through from front to back and a bit of a thoroughfare to the public car park at the back. The food menu is limited also.
