I selected this hotel because they advertised a pool and we had 3 grandchildren were with us. Upon arrival we were told the pool was closed. When we got to the room, the floor needed vacuuming and the toilet seat was broken. The free breakfast was adequate, but when grandchildren don't eat the sweet rolls they got, you know something is wrong. I booked two nights but as soon as we arrived we found out we would need to return home the following day instead of staying two nights. I informed them that evening before 11 which was the requirement for a refund for the following night. When I checked out, instead of charging me $179 per night, which the reservation clearly stated, they charged me $224. The I inquired why, they said each night had a different charge. When I inquired what the Saturday night charge was, they said they were unable to tell me. The total charge was to be $358, so subtracting the $224 that they charged me that left only $134 for a Saturday night charge. That's impossible that the hotel charges $224 for a Friday and only $134 for a Saturday. (all prices before taxes.)

Condition and smell in the room was so bad we cancelled our 2nd night and found another hotel. None of the equipment in the gym worked.

This was my second stay at this hotel. I wish I could give it a better rating. However, they are doing renovations. Even with this, it's still a nice hotel to stay at if you're visiting Athens for a short while. The beds are comfy. I don't think they were even at 50% capacity, so the room was pretty quiet. The pool is super cold, but it was open and my kids enjoyed it. The breakfast is included and is happening decent. The staff is very friendly and they always welcome you whenever you walk in. We weren't there for long so we didn't need our room cleaned, but there were 3 trash cans, plenty of towels, and the room was clean. They have a small snack bar next to the reception desk, and they don't extremely overprice the snacks. There is a gym, but it's pretty small. However, they did offer free water in the gym, which is something I haven't seen before. Our room included a dehumidifier. It wasn't needed too much, but you should remember that the pool is indoors. I'm curious as to how everything will look after renovations are done. We might be back next year.

The first thing you'll notice when you walk into the hotel is the smell. I'm thinking it is because of the indoor pool, but the lobby just smelled wet. It wasn't humid, but it smelled damp. The indoor pool isn't far from the reception desk. However, check-in was a breeze, and the staff is friendly. Our room was fine though, and they even had a small dehumidifier running in our room. The beds were fairly comfortable, and our kids enjoyed having the pull out couch to sleep on. The pool was freezing cold though, in my opinion. Our kids enjoyed it, but it was just too cold for me to get in. The hot tub was nice though. The door leading from the pool to the lobby was a little busted though, but I think the staff fixed the problem. For the price of the room, I can't really complain. This hotel is one of the more inexpensive rooms close to downtown Athens, and it's not that bad of a place to stay.

We picked this hotel for its proximity to UGA Vet hospital. The check-in process was wonderful and the staff member was fantastic! We had to change rooms and it was not a problem. The room was spacious and clean. Great beds and the shower was fantastic! It was also very quiet. Unfortunately the refrigerator dripped water and our items inside became soaked. The breakfast was fantastic. The only thing we were really disappointed about was that the hot tub was cold. We brought it to a team member’s attention and he said he’d tell maintenance. The hot tub was the thing we were most excited for at this hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised with how nice this hotel was for the price! For one, the staff is friendly and helpful. We needed an additional night stay due to icy road conditions. We were given another night with a discount! Secondly, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the pool was unavailable.

Room/Bed was good. Housekeeping good, towels and coffee in the room good. Breakfast was convenient and good. Hot tub was not functional for our entire 4 day stay. Overall, decent accommodation for the price point.

The place was very clean and quiet

I would not recommend anyone to stay here unless you don’t mind smelling funky linens and carpet mixed with smoke, not being able to shower bc tub doesn’t drain or seeing big roaches on the room wall before you fall asleep. No I am not kidding and they are charging $30 less a night compared to Hyatt. Go figure.

This place has BED BUGS. I noticed a small bug crawling around me at night and thought it was a small roach, nope brought a bed bug infestation back home with me which makes me think the room was full of them. What money you save on this cheap hotel you will spend more on trying to get rid of a bed bug infestation wish I could add a photo to show what my legs look like after staying at this place.

We requested a refund and did not stay. The rooms were musty, furniture was busted, watermarks on the walls and just overall gross. The pictures presented on the website are definitely misleading. However, the staff was helpful in assisting with the refund.

First room smelled horrible of cigarette smell so I went Back down changed rooms the second room smelled of dog odor as well as shower curtain disgusting I have Photos. It was our first ga game and last time ever staying here.

It seems like room hadn’t been used in a while because it had a smell to the room. Humidity was very high and the dehumidifier in the room wasn’t working properly or too small for the room size.

The front desk was VERY nice and helpful when we checked in. We went to our room to unload and noticed a musty smell when we entered the room, and saw a dehumidifier running. When we left to go to dinner, I asked the front desk for air freshener and told them the room had a strong musty smell. They said they would take care of it. When we returned in a few hours, it still smelled bad. After three requests, housekeeping brought us some. I didn't sleep well and was up all night sneezing and coughing. In the morning, with curtains open, I could actually see BLACK MOLD on the glass of a framed picture hanging above my bed. Even though we had booked and paid for two nights, we checked out early, due to health concerns and lack of sleep.

Moldy, Dirty, No follow up from complaints. All of the walls and carpet were filthy, the room had a large mold spot, surfaces had not been wiped. Very very poor experience and would never consider staying there again.

Not fancy but very clean and the staff was wonderful--very helpful and friendly! Rooms and common areas very clean. Parking convenient and close. Good breakfast selection with extensive hours of availability.

This property was very dirty and I took pictures the hotel room walls had stains all over, the bathroom had mold all in the grout, the bed linens had stains, the bathroom shower light was hanging and broken, the fire detector looked as if it was broken. I did take pictures to document. This is definitely a property that needs to be updated and we would never recommend nor stay there again.

Hotel room was adequate and clean. Desk chair was broken, and shower pull was broken (could not release to take bath). AC not working properly, but room was comfortable. Our room was next to elevator, so some noise throughout the night. Staff were friendly and excellent service, but hotel needs some renovation.

I stayed almost a week between a regular room and a suite. There are small things that need repair a vent in the ceiling not properly mounted a leaking something inside a locked closet, but, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is good, a short drive to pretty much everything. Overall great stay.

Relatively quiet. Easy to get to. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was on the 3rd floor. Could hear people (children probably) running up and down the halls above us. The furniture, couch and chair, needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. And the hall way carpet needs a good cleaning.

Convenient location. Hot tub was great. Bed was good. Poor ventilation, walls were not clean and peculiar odor in the hallways. Leaking sink faucet and partially stopped up tub drain. I reported the drain but nothing was done.

Chose this particular hotel due to it close proximity to my daughter’s apartment complex. That was great & very convenient! Unfortunately, the room that I had on the second floor had a few minor issues. The pull out sofa had visible stains on both cushions. I was unable to overide the A/C unit to set it at a slightly higher temp. And when I turned the selection for heat…pieces of dirt/dust came out of the unit. The hair dryer that is provided in the bathroom, secured to the wall did not work. And due to having only 1 staff available at the time, I had to go down to the main desk with wet hair to get one. And the lighting in the room wasn’t sufficient. Overall, the room was a good size & the bed & pillows were comfortable. So, even with the mentioned minor issues, I would consider staying at this hotel again.

The breakfast was a little lack luster in the grab and go category. Room was spacious and clean, but they had something that I assume is a humidifier running that I had to unplug at night because it was glowing bright colors.

The front desk person at check-in was very friendly, nice and accommodating. He changed a room from single bed two double beds. That is great customer service. The room(s) were always clean when returning at the end of the day. Providing a winning breakfast is always great. Check-out person was also friendly, nice and very helpful when asked about directions. This hotel provide a great team with good customer service. When I come back I would look to book at Wingate Athens.

The parking lot was not completely available due to paving. The manager at the front desk was rude. They charged me for early check in $50 and $100 for incidental fee. In addition, I was using a tax exempt form and Expedia had already billed my account for the full balance before I checked in.

The staff at this hotel is top-notch! So nice and wonderfully accommodating. The rooms were so nice and clean, and the location was great. 100% recommend this hotel. Thank you for a great stay!

Close to Akins Ford Arena, where we were going to see a concert. They had the friendliest staff at the front desk!

The room was nice with comfortable beds and plenty of space to move around. There was a nice breakfast the two mornings we were there, with eggs and sausage along with all the other usual choices for a continental breakfast. We had just one issue with our room which was the little refridgerator that was in the room. It was not working properly, being in a continous defrost mode, the water dripping down from the little freezer area and overflowing out onto the carpeted floor which was already wet we we first got to our room. We contacted the front desk right away and he said he'd get someone up to look at it. Later we went out to eat and stopped by the desk to ask if they might be coming up to fix it while we were gone. He first said he had it on his list to call them and when we questioned if he would be getting them up there soon he got angry and asked what did we want, a room at another hotel? No, we just wanted the refridgerator fixed, possibly before the carpet and floor underneath got damaged. The reply, accompanied by an angry look and frown was "I said I would get maintenance up to get it fixed, is there anything else you want? Good have a nice evening". The next morning we let the young lady at the desk know about the leak and she said maintenance would be up soon. They finally came up, looked at the fridge, said it was running, that was normal and left. Not the best attitude from the man at the desk and they didn't fix the problem.

Hotel is situated in a weird space not to far from downtown. While I wasn't terribly worried about my safety, the area was definitely not conducive to safety, as there were lots of people walking about and the hotel is right next to a very popular liquor store. My room was clean and comfortable, but the overall building needs some TLC. My toilet wouldn't flush upon arrival and I had to reconnect the hook and the shower was dirty. While the receptionist were very friendly, they didn't seem to be around much, but the breakfast was good. Overall, my stay was fine, but the hotel is definitely in need of a facelift.

I was attending a play at Classic Center. The hotel was very conveniently located and easy to get to the theater.

There is a “shelter” across the street. Not that it is unsafe; but single female travellers should be aware. We had NO ISSUES! But… you should be aware.

This hotel needs serious work. The doors and walls looked like it has either had fire or water damage. The guy who checked me in was rude and it’s laughable that I was charged a $100 deposit on a place that was in terrible condition. There were homeless men hanging around the front of the property. I did not feel safe in top of the horrible interior.

Room was fine for what we needed. It was very damp and humid feeling. Bed comfortable. Super convenient to downtown.

My family enjoyed the breakfast and the mattress with pillow top was nice.

The air condition unit was too noisy. Breakfast was just eggs , muffins, yogurt . No meat. The customer service was over the top though. The rooms were spacious and the bed mattress comfortable. The location was very ideal to where we needed to be. Our stay was satisfactory.

Room wasn't what we reserved went to front desk to let them know after some back and forth with the lady up there she even said the room we reserved was sold out then she found one and wanted to charge us more money but i didn't give in or up we ended up getting the room we booked for the price we booked it for, overall it was a great stay for the wife and I good hot breakfast

We stayed two nights in two separate rooms because our plans changed. The rooms were big, comfortable and overall very clean but in both showers there was a great deal of mold. At first I figured it was stained in the grout but it wiped right off both times. I alerted housekeeping. Other than that the room was very clean with nice towels. The breakfast was excellent! Super clean and organized with lots of choices. We enjoyed our stay.

I booked this hotel for 3 reasons…amenities, location & price. Location was good. Price was alright until after checking in, amenities were falsely advertised. Explanation is simple, pool & hot tub were not working, had not been working for quite some time and no mention upon checkin. Breakfast was told 6:30-10, but this is only for weekends, we did go at 9am there was no bread, bagel or any type of pastry to be toasted, scrambled eggs looked uncooked, sausage patties appeared uncooked therefore the lineup for waffles was very long. I will not recommend this hotel now will I ever stay here again. The corners of the room had not been vacuumed in months it was unclean.

Slight musty odor in the room, which is typical of most places. The beds were super comfortable. Ran out of parking spaces around 1030 on Monday eve, had to get creative. Breakfast was the best we have experienced anywhere. The morning breakfast guy was super efficient. Would stop here again.
