Embassy Suites by Hilton Austin Downtown South Congress

The hotel was nice and I would stay there again, however, the fixtures in the shower were coming apart but nothing that maintenance can't fix. The only other issue is that parking was $40 in a parking garage whose elevators weren't working. It was a bit inconvenient to have to carry luggage 3 or 4 flights of stairs.

Check in was great, breakfast was great, bed in room was good, other furnishings - chairs, sofa bed were horrible. There were multiple tears in sofa bed. Carpet had been replaced but not properly placed under baseboards. Horrible parking garage with only 1/3 of elevators working. No covered walkway from garage to hotel lobby.

Clean room, good shower, sofa little old with tears, one of three elevators working only…very inconvenient with a large hotel like this one, breakfast is average, parking garage is not connected to hotel so have to walk around outside to get to hotel lobby, location of hotel is convenient to river/lake and downtown and Capitol.

The hotel only had one elevator it took for ever to get anywhere. It was a super busy weekend too. I am oxygen there was no way I was going up and down 6 flights of stairs. The hotel is not really handicapped friendly. Needs to be updated my room smelled musty. I found out when I got there the elevator has been broken for months. It’s a super pricey hotel for the elevators to be broken. The breakfast was good and the pool is nice. Overall I give this hotel a 5 out of 10

The staff at this Embassy Suites is top notch! The property is in desperate need of renovation. Lots of rust and worn out items. Only two of the three elevators would go to our floor. The indoor pool should be advertised as a cold plunge, as it’s not heated and was too cold to use. The parking garage had only one of the two elevators working, it’s a free standing structure, very unsecured, making the $42.00 very steep!! The evening reception was ok, but cheezits shouldn’t count as an appetizer, very skippy on the food. Breakfast was very good!! Two staff members were maintaining the large section of food. The omelette station was great. Several guests mentioned that they would prefer to have pancakes as an option every morning, they were only available once in our six day stay.

I did not like the fact the parking garage (for which I paid $48/night to park my car) was not attached to the Hotel. In fact it was across a narrow street behind the hotel.As I walked back from parking my car in the near empty 4 or 5 story parking garage around 11:30 pm there were several people in the street who just appeared to be hanging out. For $48/ night there should at least be some kind of valet service or something.

Property is starting to look dated. Garage definitely is a weak point. Only one elevator working and way too many compact only slots. And they charged for parking.

Three elevators only one of them in service on a busy holiday weekend. Why? If that was the case, “ok, no problem” but for the long lines of having to wait for the elevator, comp my parking cost. Which by the way is also high.

The location was amazing for walking to downtown right at the foot of the Congress street bridge. Never need to use an Uber. But unfortunately this place is falling apart :( Upon our arrival, the room we were staying in had NO air conditioning!!! The atrium was 10 degrees cooler. Don the engineer went above and beyond to remedy the situation. Also, only 1 out of 3 elevators was working, and apparently that had been an issue for 2 months. We always try to stay in Embassy Suites wherever we go, but this particular location is currently in the worst shape of any we have ever stayed at. Hopefully this will be fixed before we return to Austin?

Room and breakfast were wonderful but long wait on elevator because only one working and having to pay $55 a night to park was ridiculous!!

Location on south congress is perfect for walking distances, very centric. Rooms are in poor conditions Bathrooms are in good conditions Room was not tidy. Lots of trash under sofa, behind TV Units, and mini bar was leaking VERY FRIENDLY AND KIND STAFF

The customer service of the hotel is amazing, however the cleanliness is nonexistent in the rooms. Breakfast is perfection! I accidentally booked our rooms for the wrong night, didn’t realize until we were in town. The hotel refunded us and booked us the same type of room for that evening at the same price we originally booked our stay. As parking is not connected to the hotel my husband dropped me and the kids off at the hotel and went to park. When I got to our room the stench was horrible. It smelled like a bar. The couch was full of stains and when we pulled out the couch bed it also had stains and a the smell from the bed (fishy?) joined in with the smoke and beer scents. I immediately called my husband and said we could not stay in that room. He talked with the front desk and we were put into another (much better) room at no additional cost. We have a 17 year old and a 12 year old so I commend them especially for getting us into a room that accommodates 3 beds. The common areas are clean. Breakfast was great.

The room was filthy, old and dirty. Stains on beds and torn drapes. Restroom was so dirty. Toothpaste drip stains on cabinet. Hair on floor and in shower. We literally had to shower with flip flops on.

Booked a suite for four nights. Amenities missing in the bathroom, which was also not properly cleaned. Despite requesting housecleaning before breakfast every morning, it was ignored for the first 2 days. On third day, housecleaning took out garbage and straightened beds - that’s it. Bathroom was not cleaned - floors not vacuumed. Elevators to garage not working on two days (Embassy Suites parking was on Floors 3 and 4) so a trek up and down steep staircase every time you used car) - all in all, terrible.

Everything was satisfactory at this hotel except I saw a roach. And unfortunately it seems one or more may have traveled home with me in my bag some how as I saw one in my bathroom yesterday. I've never had a roach in my apartment, not in the 4 years I've been living here

The property itself is in a convenient location and is walkable to S. Congress and all the food and shopping, as well as the bridge with the bats. Uber is easy to use there for further locations. Our room smelled like someone had spilled water on the carpet and had a moldy, musty smell that got worse as the days went on. We stayed for three nights and could not wait to leave that room for good. The lobby area is nice and the breakfast is top of the line. It had an omelet bar - I didn't use it but the friends I was with did and they said it was nice.

Found a roach in our room. Other than that, we loved our stay

The couch in the 1st room had a large dark stain when we walked in. Told front desk and they moved us to another room that had a musky mildew smell. That night in the 2nd room, we heard the room above us take showers and then got to listen to the water leak down through the wall and soak our carpet (hence the mildew smell). Moved to a third rom the next day. Front desk comped one day of parking only. Better than nothing but think they could have done more.

Enjoyed the convenience of breakfast and happy hour on the property. Hated the cricket invasion (I killed seven in the room myself.) Maid service was only available upon request. Return air vent in the bathroom was hanging off the ceiling. This was not the Embassy Suites I remember.

Several bugs, alive and dead, in the room and bathroom. Hair from previous guest was all over the bathroom. Old and dirty carpet, sofa, and wallpaper.

Room was very dated and not very clean. Could certainly use some touch up on the cracked walls and ceilings. Furniture in sitting area was dirty and worn. We did appreciate the size of the room and separate large sitting area with the ability to close the bedroom door. Location was great.

weekend stay for a family wedding. Added value in that Embassy Suites offers easy accommodations for our son to have his own sleeping space.

Smelled dank, but the room was large, had a delicious free breakfast buffet and nice folks. But would not allow me to check in early and the room was kind of dirty. Crumbs on the bed and sugar spilled all over the counter. Needed a really good scrub and didn't feel clean.

Extremely convenient location. Great staff. Great breakfasts. Large, clean rooms, quiet, very comfy bed. For the price, you simply can’t beat it.

Terrific location, as you can walk south on Congress to shops or into downtown Austin in minutes. Nice hotel, and good to have breakfast and evening snacks and drinks included. We got a suite and it was next to the elevator, and so it was noisy with talking people getting on and off elevator. Unfortunately, the two phones in the suite never worked, and could not be repaired. The couch was never made up for us and there was a minimum of bedding for it, which was an issue as the room was cold. The big issue was no free wifi, and there was no wifi memory, so Hilton membership needed to be repeatedly entered. $40 per day for parking is a bit much too as that was same rate as downtown parking. Overall, a nice hotel and good to be located out of downtown.

I always enjoy when breakfast is included in my hotel stays. And this hotel had better breakfast selection then many others. I really appreciate the fresh cut fruits, for example! I would love to see vegetables as well though. This hotel is in a great location, and has pretty good city view. However, the rooms are in need of carpet a couch change/upgrade. My King Suite City View room smelled of mildew, while the couch was visibly torn and when turned into another bed, the mattress was full of stains. It was just something you don't want to sleep on.

They offer a wide variety of hot and cold items, and everything was fresh and well-prepared. The complimentary happy hour was also a nice touch, with snacks and drinks provided in a relaxed setting—a great way to unwind in the evenings. My room was extremely spacious and comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a day out in Austin. While some furnishings could use a bit of an update to feel more modern, overall the room was clean, cozy, and well-equipped. In general, I really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Austin.

Good location but the property is older and run down. Only one out of the three elevators was operational which caused long waits and crowded rides. The room was outdated, not very clean, and the ac/heater worked only intermittently. It was just ok, not terrible, but I was expecting more from Embassy Suites.

The bathroom in our room was handicap accessible which led to the bathroom floor flooding every time we showered - including water seeping into the carpet in the area outside of the bathroom. This was clearly a regular occurrence bc the carpet was perpetually damp and the room had a musty odor.

Excellent staff

We got to the hotel at 4:30 pm cst and check-in is at 4 pm. We were told the room was not ready yet to give it 15 minutes. We had a wedding to go to and needed to get ready. I kept checking with the front desk and was told something different each time. They were short staffed and then I was told the Queen Suites are the last rooms to be cleaned. It was a little before 6 pm when they called that the room was finally ready. My kids wanted to go in the pool and when we got there, it was filled with crickets inside of the pool. Who wants to swim with crickets jumping at you in tje water. Why not just close the pool instead. We left the pool because they did not want to get in and when we got back to the room we couldn’t get in. The light would turn green with key but door was jammed. I called the front desk and the guy asked if anyone was in the room I said no and he sighed like it was a big inconvenience that I called because we couldn’t get in our room. I finally was able to get the door open by pushing it open with my body and maintenance showed up and said it was no problem he had a key if it happened again. We were told we can wait in the lobby area but they would not give us tickets for drinks until we checked in even though we were waiting in the lobby while Happy Hour was going on we weren’t able to participate. They gave us tickets when we checked in but at that point we had to get ready to leave. I will never stay here again.

After the first night stay, our room was not serviced; bed not made, no clean towels, room not picked up. After notifying front desk, the bed was made and clean towels were supplied. After the second night, the room again was not serviced, and we were told the housekeeping staff had left for the day. Someone was sent to the room and “made” the bed like my 5 year old great grandson does; the covers were thrown up on the bed.

The service was exceptional and the breakfast every morning was delicious.

I am so disappointed in the Embassy Suites in Austin. I booked a room for my wife for a week's stay at this hotel to visit her daughter, who is my step daughter. She happens to be mixed, and I love her dearly. Not that this matters to me, but it will be relevant later. My wife goes to check in, and is met by the the night front desk manager, Diamond. She is extremely kurt and very unfriendly. She then told my wife that she could not check in to the room since I made the reservation and that I had to be there. She would not agree to call me and get my approval. She said I should have made the reservation directly with the Hotel and NOT Hotels.com. She was extremely rude to my wife and basically said she would not let her check in. So then my stepdaughter, who is half black came in. Diamond, if you haven't figured it out is also Black. As soon as my stepdaughter went up to the front desk, all of a sudden, Diamond puts on the charm and hospitality saying, well hello darling, don't you look beautiful and how can I help you sweetie. My wife then steps up to the counter, and Diamond knew she's been caught being a Racist Pig! My stepdaughter tells Diamond that this is her Mom, and ask her how we can solve this problem so her Mom can check into the room? In any event she is now allowed to check into room. However the room is dirty has a used condom under bed. Her room never was not cleaned for 2 days she was there even though she went to the front desk to tell them. 👎

The room was not properly prepared. I asked for extra blankets and pillows and had to call multiple times, hours apart. I was definitely disappointed!

It’s an older style hotel. There was some issues with the lock on my room. But engineering was there in like five seconds no joke and the customer service with excellence. The breakfast was really good. It was typical hotel breakfast with bacon sausage and eggs, but it was real food and super clean. I would definitely stay there again. It’s a great little stay in Austin especially if you’re there for business and not luxury.

The staff at the property was great. The front desk, the bartenders, the morning breakfast staff were all excellent. The property needed to be kept up better. Our first room had a dirty floor, so we were given another. The houskeeping staff needs to vacuum more. We take off our shoes at the door, but the room still needed to be vacuumed. It wasnt, until i complained. The pool was very cloudy when we were there, you could not really see the bottom on our first day. It got a bit better each day we were there, but never completely clear. Everytime i had an issue, the staff jumped right on it. The staff is 6 stars. It just needs attention to detail

We stay here every time we visit out college student. This time front desk help was horrible. Asked twice for sheets/blanket for couch bed and no response even though yes they’re ccoming. Their coming. Many choices in Austin I guess I will look elsewhere next visit

Complimentary Breakfast had terrific tasty options and great quality; the lovely wait-staff was so pleasant and friendly! Great job. Only dislike was the advertised "on-site restaurant". That is not the case. My writing partner and I held our annual plotting retreat here and wrote till wee hours of the night; basically never left the hotel until we had to get food. Had to walk in 103 heat to the Hyatt Regency for lunch and had no dinner or late night options for food as 2 ladies would not be walking in downtown Austin after dark. Room Service is closed from 11:00-4:00 and not certain of the limited time after that as we just brought back our lunch extras to reheat in the microwave. So big bummer on that. Yea for the fabulous bartender as she made an extra effort to provide us large size soft drinks and juice that we were able to purchase! Much appreciated :)
