Hotel Stachus

This is an urban, kind of seedy area of town. But the hotel is nice inside. Shower is open to the room with glass doors, which was fine for my husband and I but would be weird with friends. Room is very bare bones, and there was no top sheet on the bed? But two duvets? Breakfast is 16 euro, we did not partake. We used the parking garage around the block, and the front desk validated our ticket for us. That also cost $16. Air conditioning not an option in May.

I did not stay for breakfast, I had a breakfast booked for later in Marienplatz, but from what I saw it all looked very fresh, organised and easy to get to. The room was beautifully clean, the bed comfy, the facilities excellent. The staff member when I arrived was polite and perfunctory, the staff when I left were efficient and friendly. It was simple from arrival to departure. I woul definitely stay here again.

This place is great for two people. However, if you are a group of three and someone needs to use the sofa bed, I highly recommend requesting an extra duvet to layer over the mattress. The springs in the sofa bed are quite noticeable and can make it difficult to get a good night's rest. ​In my room, the bathroom sink was clogged, but the staff sent someone to fix it immediately after I reported it. Space-wise, once the sofa bed is unfolded, the room feels quite cramped. Also, the layout is a bit unique—the toilet and the sink are in separate areas, so you have to walk to the other side to wash your hands. ​Despite these points, the hotel is clean, quiet, and very close to the Central Station. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Berlin
