Best Western On The Avenue

The only thing I had an issue with was that there is only one elevator, other than that it was lit.

This is one of the few hotels in the are offering complimentary parking and in this are is definitely a bonus! The rooms were clean and nicely appointed, comfortable bed, clean and high quality linens. The hotel’s breakfast and the serving/eating area was fine and the guest services agents were extremely helpful and professional. I’m both a Hilton Honors and Marriott member, but next time in Buffalo, we’ll definitely keep this hotel on our short list!

Fitness center equipment- half didn’t work. “hot breakfast” was cold except for what I toasted or made “waffle”. Breakfast room tv was set to a channel with all infomercials. This was at 8 on a weekday. Hotel was very convenient, rooms and open areas very nice.

Very disappointed to find elevator broken upon our arrival and remained unavailable our entire stay

Recent upgrades make the property comfortable, but the bathroom was small and on-site parking is limited.

Great hotel for viewing the Buffalo marathon. Very limited parking. Friendly staff. Property is a bit worn but more than adequate.

Bathroom was dirty, towels were like cardboard. bathroom door lock was broken and didn't close all the way or lock. Window had spiders in it.

We stayed one night for a concert. The hotel is very nice and conveniently located to everything. The room was very clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was that the sink is outside the bathroom. Some people might like that but I have never been a fan. Shower was fantastic. I didn't have the breakfast the next morning but some of my group did and they said it was good. I would stay there again.

The room was horrible, the spiders were all over the place! I found a hair on the bad , not sure if they even changed the bad sheets!

Dirty

I was visiting for just an overnight stay. I had some errands to run and I also needed to have a package delivered to me there. When I checked in, the package had been delivered and the staff stored it in a refrigerator for me. My room also had a refrigerator. The room was well-prepared. I loved the shower (with a bench) and the choice of soaps, etc. that were available. I was on the fifth floor which was very quiet. One odd thing is that when I opened the door of the room refrigerator, I found a bottle of beer and two bottles of alcoholic cider that a previous guest had left behind. I did not view this as a "big" deal at all. The air conditioner was good and, at night, it provided a little white noise that helped with sleep. I did make use of the morning breakfast and the scrambled eggs were hot and were accompanied by toast and jam. The hotel is walking distance to a number of bars and restaurants on Allen Street. I would strongly recommend the hotel for people with a similar need to my own.

My room had a weird smell. There was a used towel on the sink. Under the bathroom sink, there was trash not taken out. With use female hygiene stuff.

Check in was 3pm on the dot no earlier. Had to wait at least a 1/2 hour in the lobby before checking in. However to be fair Check Out was at noon vs 11am. Leftover Pizza box from another guest found in the microwave. Melted ice Water found in the ice bucket. Floor had a few "sticky" spots on it. a bit gross and I should have taken pics and complained. Exterior of the building was half un-painted.

The sheets had obviously not been changed. They were soiled and wrinkled.

We really enjoyed our stay at Best Western on the Avenue. The rating was only a 2 or 2.5 star, but we found it to be totally acceptable. The room was spotless and the breakfast offered in the morning was very nice. I'd stay here again in an instant!

Wifi was horrible. No microwave in room, you have to go downstairs to use it. Otherwise it was clean, staff was nice, breakfast was good, a lot of variety. Thanks

The lighting in my room was very dim and made my room gloomy. My bed was also uncomfortable.

Smoke alarm went off while taking a shower, otherwise absolutely amazing!

Our room was very nice. It was clean and came with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was big, plenty of room. The tv was large , plenty of channels. Free parking was a bonus. Our room also had a nice view. The staff was very polite,courteous anf friendly. We stayed there for a Bruins game. The arena was a short taxi cab ride away. We will stay there again and i have no issues with recommending this Hotel to anyone.

Room was nice. Bathrooms were weird. Shower didn’t have a door or fan so the smoke alarm kept going off while showering. Overall nice hotel. Front desk staff was amazing!

The internet was horrible. I could not attend my business meeting with the hotel internet.

Standard room - didn’t live the first floor location off the parking lot, or the shower with no door, not the whistle of the gray parrot in the evening. Didn’t have breakfast - looked at it - seemed to be standard buffet fare.

Room was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable, staff were friendly. Breakfast was included and had a nice range of options such as scrambled eggs and varying meat, waffle bar and cereal, coffee and tea. Location is in walking distance of several good restaurants and bars, plus public transportation if you don't have a car. Parking lot is right out front but small. Cleaning staff did not appear to come in during my 3 night stay, which doesn't bother me. Instead they have a little sheet you can fill out and bring to the desk if you need more towels or coffee pods or what-have-you. Here is my only complaint- there are sheer curtains over the window only. The thicker curtains were only for decoration on the sides, framing the window, unable to be pulled closed because there was literally no track in the middle. Which meant the bright LED lights from the parking lot will be shining in your face all night. Terrible. Please, hotel owners, put the real curtains on a track that goes all the way across the window so we can pull them closed.

All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and made our stay comfortable! Best part of this hotel was definitely the delicious breakfast and the company of their pet bird, Simba😁

Expedia didn't send over the virtual card for payment and Farhad was amazing at getting us checked in and staying calm while phoning many different support lines. At the same time he checked others in and was training a new employee. Dude was an absolute beauty.

The key card system was down and we couldn’t check in the rooms ourselves, but the staff went above and beyond all day and night to make sure we could get back into our rooms when needed. 5 stars!

Our three-night stay was marred by a complete lack of housekeeping service. Despite three requests to staff, our room was never cleaned. We later discovered we'd been erroneously checked out in their system. This raises serious questions: how could we still access a 'checked-out' room, and why was housekeeping not notified? Furthermore, the room's excessive noise prevented our children from sleeping. Our request for a room change was denied, citing our Expedia booking. Overall, it was a deeply unsatisfactory experience

We loved all the large, historic homes along Delaware Avenue. The hotel was close to restaurants and tourist sights. We enjoyed seeing the African grey parrot each day and trying to get her to talk to us. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Actually, Buffalo is a wonderful city - perfect size, no significant traffic, amazing art museum, philharmonic, & near Niagara Falls.

Check in was a problem. Arrived at 1:30PM (check in is at 3:00PM). Was assured the room would be ready at 3:00PM. Came back at around 4:30PM and the room still had not been cleaned from the previous guest. Finally, was able to access the room around 5:30PM - very disappointing. On the first night, the occupants of the next door room were very loud and had to complaint to the front desk - it was then resolved. Other than those two issues, the stay was fine - consistent with previous stays at the property.

Checked in and the property and our room smelt like pot. We left and asked for a refund, the GM was rude and was trying to have us stay. Even asked what other hotel we were going to. None of his business, and don’t get into a debate with me at 1pm with two sleeping kids in hand.

Issues 1) I checked out at 6 am and in my rush, I left a brand new pair of shoes in the room ($200 shoes). When I arrived home less than 24 hr later (and after searching all of my belongings) I called to ask them to send me the shoes. They said no shoes had been found in the room. They first said they were thrown away, then a manager got on the phone and said they didn't find any when they cleaned the room ... BS! Nothing they could do. So, I'm out the brand new $200 shoes. 2) Ironically, I was there for 3 days and the room was not cleaned once, and nothing was updated like towels etc. No mention was made when I checked that cleaning would not be performed and if I wanted them to clean the room. 3) Parking isn't great, but I wouldn't review that if it weren't for #1 and #2. Not sure who stayed in this hotel before and gave it a decent rating, because it's one of the worst I've stayed in, at least from a service standpoint.

Best of the best. The GM, Troy, made our stay very pleasant. Will def be back. Many thanks to Troy and rest of your team.

It seems always to be hit or miss when you choose a property in an urban location with which you are not familiar. This one is a winner - right on a main street, yet not loud or dirty. Very clean property with great staff. Easy parking. Some very good restaurants within a few blocks. Very happy with this choice.

Hotel is perfect location for attending the Allentown Arts Festival. Hotel and room were beautiful and clean. Staff was wonderfully friendly. Breakfast was fantastic. Will definitely be staying here again.

Overall I was pleased with my stay at the hotel. Several local eateries were within a comfortable walking distance. It was also close to the nearby performing arts center. I wish that the facility had more onsite parking for guest. On a busy weekend the small lot fills up quickly and a guest will have to find parking on the street. Hotel also seemed to be located in a reasonable safe neighborhood.

I didn’t find out until the day before my stay, there was an arts festival happening that weekend, with road closures (all around the hotel). If I had known this, I would’ve booked somewhere else. I did call hotel the day before, and he tried giving me directions to find my way, but when I got into Buffalo, it proved to be more difficult. It took me an hour (after driving around) to find my way in. Once I got to the hotel, a bunch of hotel guests had lawn chairs in a circle of the parking lot, so my only choice was to park at the back of the lot. I did ask the girl at the front desk about it, and she asked them to move, but they were a little rude to me when I did get a place to park. By the time I got settled in it was 7:30. I asked if anywhere delivered, and she told me there was a pizza place that did. But it was an hour and a half before it was delivered. I tried going to the vending machines, while I waited, but the machine was down. In my bathroom, there was little hairs on the floor, which lead me to believe that floor wasn’t clean. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, and I woke up with neck pain. There was a bird in the Lobby that squawked, and I was worried he would keep me up, but they covered him a little before 10. Overall it was an ok stay.

This was a great location for a long weekend away. We didn't want to be in the middle of downtown but in walkable distance to restaurants, so this was perfect!

From check-in to asking questions about the mass transit system to breakfast and check-out, this place checked the boxes. Very friendly and helpful staff! Breakfast was real food not microwaved and served to the guests. Sunday breakfast was scrambled eggs with peppers and cheese, sausage or ham, and hash brown crowns. They had cereal, bagels, oatmeal, make your own waffles, yogurts, and fresh apples or bananas. The place was clean and has a special guest named Simba who is a delight!

The beds in the room were too high for my taste, about 30 inches. This would be a much bigger issue for shorter people or those who might have mobility issues. The wifi in the room was marginal. There is no reason these days for not having robust wifi everywhere on a property. The coffee machine produced extremely weak coffee. Breakfast was fine for this type of establishment, but the coffee was not. There is no reason for any establishment to serve mediocre coffee.
