This is a very good historical hotel. The staff were great. The only draw back was PARKING. Well, when they say parking it’s not what one thinks of. This was a very tight car elevator that brought you underground parking. Very tight and only fits I believe 6-8 cars. I parked once and that was it. Paid a lot of money downtown but worth not dealing with the tight parking.

Das Hotel ist sehr zentral in der Altstadt gelegen, man hat kurze Wege zum Einkaufen, Essengehen, Hafen. Ein kostenloser öffentlicher Parkplatz ist ein paar Hundert Meter entfernt. Mein Zimmer lag ruhig zum Hof mit Swimmingpool. Der Pool ist nicht geheizt, das Wasser war kälter als im Atlantik (im Dezember). Sauna oder Spa gibt es nicht, aber ein gutes asiatisches Restaurant im Haus. Das Frühstücksbuffet war okay, aber für meinen Geschmack hätte mehr Obst und Gemüse wie Gurke, Tomate und Paprika dazu gehört und auch Haferflocken oder Müsli wäre schön gewesen. Das Personal war überwiegend sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. In der Stadtmitte würde ich jederzeit wieder dort übernachten.

Hotellet ligger helt sentralt midt i byen. Med noen få meter å gå ned til havnen, torg og gågater. Hyggelige ansatte gjør oppholdet trivelig. Den japanske restauranten i tilknytning til hotellet, serverer veldig delikate og gode retter, og med snille priser og trivelige ansatte, ja så blir det god stemning. Alt er helt topp. Det eneste vi vil bemerke er hotellets parkeringkjeller - den er forsåvidt en opplevelse og turistattraksjon for seg. Meget trang, med en bitte liten heis for bilen ned. Her er det fort gjort å få en ripe i lakken eller hjulkapselen på leiebilen. Vi sto der en natt, de neste dagene spanderte vi de få minuttene å gå opp til bilen, som sto gratis i Avenida d. Manuel I. Der er masser av gratis p-plass og anbefales. Gatene ved hotellet er mer enn trange, og der kjøres fort. Et trivelig 9-dagers opphold.

Excellent accommodations. Very close to center of town. Less than 10 minute walk to city gate and waterfront . Bonus was the underground parking that the hotel provided. Parking on the street was very confusing. The free buffet breakfast was also great

Close to everything by walking distance. We were lucky to able to park, in the hotel reserved spot, right in front of the hotel everyday, Quiet hotel, more expensive so no loud noise from parties. Pool was cold, so we didn’t use it.

Nice little hotel but at $310 per night, the price was too high. Parking was limited to 8 spaces for a hotel that has 59 rooms. We spent the previous 4 nights at another hotel, the São Miguel Park Hotel, which had lots of parking for our rental car and a nice room for about half the cost per night. We booked this hotel for the final two nights of our trip because São Miguel Park Hotel was already sold out. The staff at Hotel do Colégio was great, however, and the breakfast was very nice. Just a bit too pricy.

This is a refurbished older building that was modern inside with a few touches of the past in the lobby area. It was very convenient for catching tours that met you just at the corner of the street as the streets themselves are too narrow for the vans. The breakfast buffet was terrific with many options. Beds were comfortable and rooms clean and contemporary. Helpful desk staff.

Hotel hat schöne Innenstadtlage, alles schnell zu Fuß zu erreichen. Großzügige, saubere Zimmer. Sehr freundliches Personal an Rezeption im Frühstücksraum und auch der Zimmerservice war hervorragend. Wir kommen wieder.

The overnight staff on our first day when we arrived early in the morning due to our overnight flight was rude! He was so annoyed that we went to the hotel early morning! Where will we go at 6.00 AM on a Sunday morning? We kept our luggage there and explored the town after couple of hours! Thankfully we didn’t see him after that! Rest of the staff were very nice! Carpet in the room was very dirty! Breakfast- ok! The best part of the hotel was its location!

This hotel was over priced. I can’t believe the positive reviews it cost. It was so over priced. So dated. The carpet was dirty. The room and hallway smelled. The bathroom looked like a scene from the Brady bunch. Stuck in a time warp. There was no hot water in the shower. The staff at the front desk was helpful but that’s about it that’s positive about this hotel. Oh and the lobby was nice, which was deceiving because the rooms were old, dirty and dated.

Great staff, good breakfast. We had a standard room. Two single beds pushed together, plastic under sheets & not comfortable. The a/c didn't work, room was warm, with window open it was loud from passing cars. Bathroom was dated, room needs a makeover. The superior room on last stay was lovely, the standard room was disappointing. We'd stay at this hotel again but not in a standard room.

In a great location that was easy to walk to dining and shopping, we chose to park further away in a parking lot but there is underground parking if you are comfortable with the busy city streets. Only thing would make it more comfortable is a fan in the room for air flow. The staff was so friendly, we would return if we get the chance!

We liked the Juliette balcony that came with our room and the room was a good size with a nice couch and chair. The bathroom products smelled amazing and the shower was a great rainfall shower. The room would not let you turn the ac down to under 18C. While I know that sounds like it would be cool enough, it never gets below low 70'sF which made it very hard to sleep. The bed was very hard. The pool seemed nice and the building was interesting. The breakfast had great coffee or espresso and a nice selection of items. The renovated music school building is really nice with lots of great art and seating areas. It is walking distance to lots of good places to eat or shop.

This hotel and particularly its staff gave us one of our best experiences ever. It started with a warm, friendly yet professional welcome (Maria). The room was comfortable and clean. At night we wanted to have dinner at the the adjacent Japanese restaurant Haibu but there was a wine and sushi fest going on which we could join and we had a great time there: HQ sushi and delicious wines (especially those from Atlantico, produced at Pico island). The hotel owner (Fernando) welcomed us and we had a very pleasant conversation on island life, the history of the building and shared ideas on society, culture, creativity and entrepreneurship. In the morning, the guy from the night shift (Rodrigo) checked us out and brought us good coffee and a breakfast box to go, since the buffet had not yet opened. The splendid service and personal approach makes this hotel very special. We will definitely come back here and yes, for a longer stay. Wonderful!

The hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Room was 1st floor above ground backing on to a more travelled street than the front of the hotel, which is much quieter. Traffic along the cobblestone streets could be noisy at times.

The breakfast was good, plentiful and tasty. BUT there was zero variety, day to day. Always the exact same food. Rooms and hallways were quiet and we were beside the elevator - no problem. Get used to narrow streets and people walking everywhere but still respecting each other's space. Good variety of restaurants and bars all within walking distance but there are smokers everywhere and they smoke in the doorways but not inside a business. Weather is OK and changes by the minute. It is windier at the coastlines and Mountain peaks. Some roads are dangerous to drive, narrow and blind corners. Also had a tree across one road and a river rushing across the road. Not passable! Major roads are great with no problems!

Very helpful and pleasant staff. Always happy to advise by request the best beach. Restaurant etc. To my surprise I thought there was a continental muffin and coffee. I was very wrong. They have scrambled eggs, lean bacon and sautéed mushrooms. You can request fried eggs or boiled. Also variety of cheeses, various breads that you heat by toaster. A coffee machine that has 15 selections of coffee, hot milk etc. Also a variety of fresh fruit and yogurt. A few cakes as well. Open from 7-10 breakfast was included. 1001 they transform all the tables for dinner service that goes from 6-10 but not just any dinner. A Japanese restaurant with sushi, udon and more. So good! They also have a cool outdoor swimming pool in the centre of the hotel. Open 8-8 I loved my stay here. I stayed in the superior room and there was lots of space and very nicely decorated.
