Great experience---room was extremely comfortable, many common areas to relax, food/service for breakfast was excellent. Hotel is convenent being downtown--able to walk to restaurants for dinner/drinks at multiple restaurants.

Fairly quiet except for the early morning trash trucks and occasional train horns. Loved the idea of daily/ nightly fires but they were pretty smokey. The room was lovely and the gas fireplace was a treat. The staff is exceptional. Convenient walk to the entire downtown area.

This is an exceptional property. The staff go above and beyond to be helpful. Great location - easy walk to restaurants in the town. We loved the games/library/candy room.

Wonderful outdoor fireplaces managed by the hotel are a great way to enjoy an evening and they will even make you a delicious s’more. The cocktail lounge is outstanding and the complementary breakfast each morning is delicious. The Cheval is a real gem in this wonderful wine town.

Wood-burning fire pits in the courtyard and complementary s’mores made this an experience to remember. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful hotel, and the staff members are all incredibly kind and helpful. The holiday decorations are spectacular!!! Love the s’mores in the evening.

We were very sorry we only booked one night. We will definitely come back!

This hotel is very under played. I don't think the photography captures how special this place is. My gf and I lucked out as this place has a perfect location walking distance to downtown Paso where all the restaurants and bars are. The hotel itself is very special, extremely clean, all the staff if very courteous and attentive, plus they are accomodating with anything you need as transportation to the wineries or recomendations. Love this place and will be back!

This is our 2nd time at this property and did. It disappoint. Great service, clean property, convenient location and amenities.

Issues were the basin is very high up and has no plug. There is no hand held wand in the shower to wash hair with. Our room was below a staircase so people walking up and down the stairs make a stomping noise.

Hotel Cheval is spectacular! I stay here with my fiancé every year we come and it’s consistently an amazing spot. The staff are so nice and helpful, the rooms are luxurious, and it’s always wonderful. It is worth the cost! We will only stay here when we come for our annual NYE trip

It was a great experience staying at Hotel Cheval. Service and staff were excellent. Rooms are very comfortable and it is right in the middle of town. You can walk everywhere.

More like a B&B, with an outstanding staff that make you feel at home.

We booked this room for a special occasion and although things started out well, the trip was ruined by the hotel staff not enforcing their own rules and not owning eventual enforcement after a complaint. The front door of our room was literally less than a foot from a seating area in the courtyard with a fireplace. Signs posted at every table clearly state courtyard quiet time after 10pm. We were awoken at 11:20 pm by loud, probably drunken conversation between what sounded like about 4 or 5 people at the seating area. After about 15 minutes, I called the front desk to complain. A few minutes later, I hear someone address the group with “hey guys, some of the guests are complaining about the noise” which immediately got a louder response of “oh really?” from some of the group. After that, the talking got louder and carried on until about 12 before they left the area and went into a patio directly behind our room where it went on until they got bored or passed out. The next morning, I spoke to the front desk about this as I was checking out and got a half hearted ‘sorry about that, I’ll report it up’. Additionally, other reviewers have been too kind about the parking situation. The extremely limited spaces available are in an alley behind the building or in an unsupervised, poorly lit parking lot. For $555 a night? Completely unnaceptable and we will not be coming back - too many other great, less expensive options in the area to put up with this kind of thing.

This was our first visit to Paso Robles and we had a wonderful time. Hotel Cheval was one of the most accommodating properties we have stayed at. The staff from the host, bartenders, and s’more maker are unrivaled!

Lovely hotel with very special qualities and unique for Paso. First time staying here as it was very hard to get a reservation as we came to discover that people come back time and time again so they book up quickly with so few rooms. After a glitch at the beginning, the general manager went out of her way personally to ensure our stay was as wonderful as we had hoped it would be- very had a wonderful getaway. For sure go for the s’mores as they were outstanding and fun and so different! Thoroughly enjoyed this property and hope to be able to book a room here again.

I'd like to give Hotel Cheval a 4.5. Good points: beautiful property, right in the middle of Paso Robles, with s'mores @ night and nice breakfast in the morning. Not as good: there is kind of an odd vibe to the place: extremely expensive for limited amenities ($600+/night) but staff seemed...green. I recommend the property but would only stay there again at a lower rate.

Service was superb! Everyone was so attentive and caring. Property has a great location that allows to walk everywhere in town and provides easy access to the highway. We hope to be back!!!

Very nice hotel, however being next to near the train station and fire station, the noise level diminished the experience and the value.

Great location. Pleasant staff. Didn’t have a fridge so they very kindly held our leftovers from the many delicious restaurants nearby. Magical during the holiday. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in for a romantic weekend away.

I have said this before, but Hotel Cheval, just like Mary Poppins is practically perfect in every way. This beautiful boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown Paso Robles and within walking distance of the park, shops, delis, bars, and some of the best restaurants in the world. The staff are warm and friendly, and their breakfast is delicious, made with local ingredients. And let's not forget about their fantastic coffee! Treat yourself to this idyllic oasis in the heart of Paso Robles. The only thing that could make it more perfect is if they had wine running on a tap in the courtyard. Maybe one day.

I think thee only thing this Hotel can do better is the breakfast. Few more options and change it up a bit each day. Otherwise perfect.
