The sleeper sofa is unusable, your headrest area is tilted downward. There was no blanket for it, and no one to help. The emergency phone person can only take a message for the staff to help tomorrow. The bathrooms door squeak like crazy, so everyone wakes everyone else when using it at night (and we were a party of 6, stayed in the suite), bottles with body wash were empty, so no showering the first night?! The next day I was given full bottles, covered in dirt and gunk of old soap and shampoo, clearly never cleaned, for years. The hot tubs were covered with slimy, algae like material, my wife slipped, and injured herself seriously, but more importantly, it was gross, and none of us used it.

The room was ok, the carpet in the room was stained and looked people with tar or dirt had extended stays in the room. The cool part about the hotel was going to be the six cool cedar hot tubs behind the hotel. They were all either being cleaned or the temps were 88 degrees. The made it sound like the were hot tubs from a natural hot spring… far from it. They were filling them with a hose attached to the hotel. Needless to say an overpriced tourist trap and we took the bait.

We have stayed here MANY times over the last couple of decades. We specifically come for the hot springs. While the redoing of the pools has some advantages, the inconsistent temps and the VERY hazardous slime in the tubs made our soaks more of a struggle than a joy. The breakfast now offered was more than adequate but we truly hope they work the bugs out of the hot tub situation. We don’t come for breakfast

I can not believe you close the hot tub pools at 9pm! That is way too early - 10 maybe (but the hot tubs that stay open all night are the best)! Also, the front desk girl came out at 8:30 pm to tell us that we needed to prepare to get out in 1/2 hour. She said the pools were too hot (so the next morning she made sure they were all cooler, even though everyone told her that they liked them how they were - hot - like hot springs should be). In the morning all of the pools were about 100° - colder than I like my baths). I had to go to another hot springs to actually soak in some hot waters so I was not happy. I went there for the hot springs!

First they cancelled my reservation. After many calls they determined it was human error. Luckily they had one room left. They then charged me double for a second room I had booked. Breakfast was a bust. Out of food. Waited 15 minutes and gave up. Holes in towels. Rooms are dated. Hot tubs looked dirty and full of algae. Doubt I stay here again

The room was clean, but the bathroom was lacking. The toilet was too small, didn't use it. The lighting around the stairs at the hot tubs was poor. I fell and cracked some ribs. When I told management, they offered little sympathy or care. They should have offered a discount or a future stay or something.

Loved the area, outside of the hotel was nice and the location was the best. Really enjoyed the mineral springs hot tubs at the hotel. We didn't like the room as there was mold in the bath tub, shower walls were disgusting. The carpet was old and disgusting. Made sure to wear shoes when walking on the carpet. Along the baseboards was even worse. The rooms really needed upgraded for the price. Maybe all rooms in the hotel are not that bad? We almost left after we checked in. Instead we left first thing in the morning. My wife wouldn't even take a shower before we left as due to the shower condition.

Our first trip to Ouray. We enjoyed our stay at Box Canyon Lodge. It looked updated, nice decor and comfortable bed. We had our pet with us so we were given a pet friendly room on ground level. We could see it had been stayed in by other pets because of scratches and chewed spots on the furniture. I also noticed the flooring was a bit soiled. Our pet accidentally knocked his travel bowl of water on the floor and when I wiped it up the napkin was very dirty. Other areas of the room were very clean like the bathroom and higher surfaces. Clean bed, sheets and pillows. It had all the amenities we like in a room and it was walking distance to shops and restaurants. We are already planning to return next year with family.

The room was very outdated. The knob on the shower faucet was coming off. There was black mold on the bathroom ceiling. The towels and sheets needed bleach. The heater was incredibly noisy.

This is the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever seen. The hot spring tubs that they offer were completely filled with black and green mold. The beds are not queen sized. They are full. The rooms were musty and the beds were awful. I couldn’t wait to get out.

The Lodge was just average for the amount of money that we paid. it needs an update, the walls in the room were dirty, there is carpet in the room that did not look/ feel clean. The bathtub was separating from the wrap around.

The room smelled of pee and mildew so bad that we smelled like it leaving after just one night. The manager was very pleasant at check in but I don’t think I’ll be back due to the smell.

Great location. Cozy and comfortable and great upgrades. With winter weather, having some type of mat to put wet/dirty shoes would have been nice. Entrance to the room was right by the fridge and needed to either have the door fully open or closed to access the microwave. Therefore, keeping clean feet and clean floors was difficult if needing to access these appliances as just having shoes on coming in the door would easily bring snow or dirt debris in. Some food I had (fresh veggies) were ruined as the fridge was set all the way up (not something that would be intuitive for a guest to make sure is okay, with it not being a freezer). After I turned the fridge down, water leaked onto the floor (I presume from ice building up on the inside? If so, it wasn’t obvious to me). I had a room on the first floor and it was quite noisy- hearing people above. I know this is an expected downfall to a ground level room, but it seemed more noisy than I expected compared to other accommodations. Also, any door above or to the side opening and closing was quite noisy. Also could hear other dogs bark easily but luckily this wasn’t excessive (no dog was disruptive or barking constantly). It was just easy to hear.

Great location right next to Box Canyon Falls. Easy parking and clean rooms. Easy access to the hot springs and was never crowded. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Cons: Our AC would never shut off and was kinda loud so we didn't use it as much and the toilet would run periodically (probably due to a leaky valve). None of that was a huge deal, just general maintenance items. We had a great stay and would book again

We stopped on our way to a family wedding. Enjoyed hiking and hot springs with the family. We had our dog with us and this hotel is pet friendly. Our room had an additional living room attached with a pull out sleeper couch. This gave our family space to play board games, watch tv, and dog to fetch his ball. It is a little dated but clean and rustic. The mattresses on queen beds were unusually comfortable for a hotel.

Understand there are no new properties in Ouray. Accommodations are mostly renovated but are keep up. The funny thing here is the room leans. I was looking that the door frame to the bathroom and noticed that the bottom of the door at the floor was about 5 inches from the wall while the top is touching. Lol. You also noticed it when you walk around the room. Still a nice place.

THIS property was not what was advertised. Worn carpet that looked like it was there since the early 70s. Broken curtains that wouldn't close. Just really dated and need of a complete renovation. Not worth the price charged.

This is basically a two-story motel next to the woods. They have updated the rooms but their handyman definitely needs some help with perfection. This is the type of place to stay when you're looking to hike and need a place to sleep. Some of the guests above us and next to us were not very quiet and this type of room doesn't offer sound blocking.

Front Desk said owner would be there tomorrow to fix things! Seems much staff was young and not well trained- especially in customer service. In our bathroom, could hear people in adjacent room very easily!

room had a heater that wasn't working well, they sort of fixed it but it made a huge noise turning on and off all night. As far as we could determine, the staff did as little work as possible. Door to bathroom was falling off the hinges. They came in and fixed it. None of the staff checked back to if our issues were taken care of to our satisfaction. Staff was polite but they had no interest in going out of their way to assist.

The hotel doesn't clean the room nor replacing the towels, so we had wet and dirty towels, and messy room (our own fault) during our entire stay. We requested room cleaning but was told they don't clean it until we check out. The hotel is old, with old carpet and bathroom. Other than that, great location - walkable to ice park and box canyon park, main street; simple and easy breakfast; friendly staff.

First they cancelled my reservation. After many calls they determined it was human error. Luckily they had one room left. They then charged me double for a second room I had booked. Breakfast was a bust. Out of food. Waited 15 minutes and gave up. Holes in towels. Rooms are dated. Hot tubs looked dirty and full of algae. Doubt I stay here again

Horrible check-in experience for us as well as 2 other parties coming in the same time. Had to call the manager in duty 6 times while standing at the front desk to get checked in. No greeting or apology for the wait-and no clean room. I’ve machine broken, which I reported but I suspect they already knew, and no apology or effort to correct. Breakfast was one of the worst I’ve seen at any hotel. Just grateful we had shortened our stay to one night.

The front desk person was not friendly at all. You need to have your own streaming service login to watch many regular channels. The area is beautiful and the hot springs are very nice. We just felt that the service was lacking.

We were not fans of the electronic check in. It was cumbersome and not efficient. After that process was complete, we still needed to sign forms, etc for the use of the tubs. Seems like other properties have a smoother process. Finally after the check in process and text response showing our room number the keys were for another room!!! Staff at the front desk acted as though we were incompetent. Room was average nthe hotel has declined since our last stay from years past. The room.was clean and bed comfortable.

Love this place. The mineral springs on the hillside are easily accessible. No crowd this time of year so tubs were always available. The downtown is an easy walk from the lodge.

Great location right next to Box Canyon Falls. Easy parking and clean rooms. Easy access to the hot springs and was never crowded. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Cons: Our AC would never shut off and was kinda loud so we didn't use it as much and the toilet would run periodically (probably due to a leaky valve). None of that was a huge deal, just general maintenance items. We had a great stay and would book again

The motel was clean and the beds were comfortable. It is noisy so as soon as people near you start to get up and around everyone is up. Front desk staff were adequate but not welcoming. Breakfast on Sunday was a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich and it seemed they were low on stock or stingy with stuff. Hot tubs were nice but we wished they supplied robes since it was chilly.

The terraced hot tubs were wonderful on a cold day. The folks in the lobby were very helpful with ideas for hikes and knowledgable about potential weather issues and car travel. The continental breakfast was better than I'd expected-- had a ton of options.

We will never stay at Box Canyon Lodge again. The room smelled musty the towels were old and frayed and we were overcharged. Breakfast and coffee was supposed to start at 7:30. We waited till 7:35. It never opened so we left

Amazing experience! Everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast had several options including making a breakfast burrito. This is just how a hot springs hotel should be in my opinion. Small tubs with amazing scenery, very peaceful, no day pass guests or screaming kids present. We definitely will be staying here from now on when visiting Ouray!

Ive stayed in this place before and since then they remodeled. Its absolutely wonderful. We skipped the ouray pool, saved money by just using the hot tubs on-site. The ladies who checked us in were wonderful and fun! Definitely pay the $5 for robes. They are very nice after hot tubbing to wrap around. The breakfast was great; eggs, bacon, sausage, breads, fruit, drinks. I would highly recommend this resort. We did the suite and it was very nice; queen beds, restroom, small fridge, micowave, kuerig coffee pot and pods, and a living room to chill out in. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you!

I have one suggestion that I think is important. Your hot springs were very nice but very slippery stepping in. I think that having someone scrub the bit of algae off the inside once a week would be greatly beneficial for everyone. Also I wanted to thank you for quickly returning my son’s laptop to him. It’s greatly appreciated as he needs it for school.

Nice location close to town. Hot spring tubs were warm but slimey which made them very slippery and floating algea. No pool at the facility. Room and linens were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was just okay.
