Coco and her colleagues were so helpful. As I had issues accessing certain apps due to the set up in China. They helped organise me a driver to take me further out to visit set places that I wanted to see. I loaned an adapter from them, as I did not have a China adapter. So this was really helpful to use my own appliances. The hotel is ideally located to lots of tourist attractions. Which are easy to walk too. The room was really clean, the cleaners went out their way to bring me water, fresh towels etc, even when I chose not to have my room cleaned etc. Which was so useful. They too provided an iron and free laundry service, as I live as a nomad these are really essential to making it an easy stay, you could see if the washers were free from your room. The free breakfast had a range of options. Which was a really nice start to the day. Will definitely return to stay.

The rooms were clean, but quite congested. The biggest issue for us was the location. The car cannot drop you right at the hotel entrance, so we had to get down around 50 meters away and walk with our luggage. Breakfast was average. It was okay, but I definitely wouldn’t rate it as great. Also, don’t book this hotel just because you see “gym” listed as one of the facilities. The gym and laundry are actually in the same room, and the so-called gym had just one treadmill, one exercise cycle and a weighing scale. We stayed in China for 12 days and stayed at four different hotels during the trip. Out of the four, I would personally place this hotel last.

The twin bed rooms have no privacy, which was okay for me & my daughter, but would have been awkward with a friend. You step right out of the shower into the open shared room. The listing doesn’t make it clear that this is a 5th & 6th floor hotel. You enter through a tiny, unmanned lobby (a bit spooky and unwelcoming, no one to help with luggage) and have to take the elevator to the 5th floor to check in. These quibbles aside this hotel was a lovely surprise. It’s right off of a fantastic pedestrian shopping & eating area, a super easy walk from the City Temple, Yuyuan Gardens, the Bund, and the ferry terminal for river cruises. Although it’s a super busy area (insane vehicle as well as pedestrian traffic), we could not hear any noises at all from our 6th floor room. The free breakfast is AMAZING — so many beautiful prepared dishes, both Western and Chinese. Not the exact same things every day, either. The A/C was perfect, the shower was great, lots of useful amenities. I’d happily stay there again, if I ever get back to Shanghai.
