Excellent staff. Bad coffee machines, TP and towels. Nice robes(didn’t use). Gym is nice. Elevators and ice are a pain. Good for the money.

Staff was helpful, rooms were tidy! Area felt unsafe leaving our vehicles in the parking lot overnight, a lot of homeless population around the hotel/in the lobby/ loitering around the vehicles. Also got a parking ticket even though I called down from my room afterwards and gave the hotel staff my license plate #

Outdoor parking is 30.00 dollars per day which I did not see anywhere when booking. I may have missed it but definitely didn’t see it anywhere. 30.00 dollars to park outside with homeless people wondering around at night and no security is ridiculous in my opinion let alone leaving and coming back to no parking stalls. Great hotel but do better for your customers on parking google review will say the same.

Great location for downtown events. Parking lot is confusing for payment. If you park in the Matrix designated lot and pay outside at kiosk it is $50.00, they dont tell you that you pay inside to get the $30.00 rate and they do not refund you.

The area and Edmonton downtown in general is vacant and the homelessness is all around, as a grown man it was uncomfortable walking 4 blocks to circle K. Parking is an outdoor surface lot (maybe 20 covered stalls available) but I found no stalls after 4pm on a Friday and had to park at an adjacent impark lot. Staff were unresponsive, I had to call for a new bed sheet twice as my bedsheet had what looked like oil or food stains on them. After the second call at 9pm I did not think it was coming and was getting ready to sleep in my salad dressing sheets when someone finally arrived with a sheet. I changed the sheet myself. I have stayed at the matrix hotel in the past years ago and do not remember the area to be as run down and the hotel to be as disappointing as it was this time. I am back in Edmonton next month and won’t be staying again.

Our stay at the Matrix was fantastic. The staff was really friendly, the room was clean and comfortable! The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to many cafes and restaurants. Be sure to check out Culinary Unicorn on the main floor, it was sooo good!!!!

This used to be my fav spot to stay downtown. Unfortunately, they have got rid of all the perks that set it apart from any other downtown hotel. Mid hotel with high prices. Everything else is an up charge. $30 a night for parking and $17 ]per person for breakfast.

We booked a suite on the top floor for our wedding anniversary and my husbands 50th birthday. We got the keys for our room, but the door would not open so they moved us to another room on the 16th floor. We were looking forward to our stay on this floor because we stayed at the Matrix on our wedding night :) BUT! this stay was not good. The bathroom shower had hair on the walls and floor. If the dirtiness was this brazen and visible, we can assume the bathroom and room have not been cleaned. We instantly got the ick. We called the front desk to tell them about the state of the bathroom and the suggested we book into a room on the 3rd floor. The room was clean, but it was not what we had in mind for our romantic evening. The room was far too large, more fitting for a bride and her family/ bridal party. The front desk staffer, was gracious and helped us as best as she could. But after seeing the room, we decided to stay at our own home, in our own bed and cancel our stay at the Matrix. Please update the rooms, and make sure they are clean before guests check in. Kindest thanks, The Douglases

The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were good size with central air conditioning which was comfortable. The beds were very firm and only one pillow per person. We asked for additional pillows which made the beds much more comfortable. The bathroom was a bit dirty in the corners, old dust and grout. My pet peeve is travelling as a family of four and routinely being given only two towels- we had to ask for more so we could all bathe.

Our room was dirty. Lots of dust on clock and night stand. Crumbs on the carpet. Very small bathroom and the bedframe closest to the bathroom is a hazard. Poor design of the room. The room needs a refresh. Mattresses were worn out and the pillows two small when compared to other similar hotel in similar price range. The front desk attendee at check-in tried too hard to sell us the restaurant. Location is the one good thing about this hotel. Unlikely will be returning.

We were in town for a concert so we especially loved the close proximity to Roger’s Place. It was about an 20 min walk or 5 min cab ride to the event center. Our rooms were spotless, the bed was so comfortable and staff members were extremely welcoming and helpful. Great quality and value for a high end property. Highly recommend, can’t wait to stay here again.

The king room is very small. The bathroom is very small. The door to the bathroom is literally right beside the bed. Next time I stay here I would get a suite

Room was very clean but the bathroom set up is awful. To have a barn door on the bathroom that is also only 3ft from the side of the bed leaves zero privacy. No bathroom fan. The bed is also only a foot off the floor and makes getting in and out of bed very hard for someone with hip and back problems.

My first bad review, I travel a fair amount for work but this was just crazy, this was my email to the hotel manager today, "Hi there I wanted to write to you about a horrible experience my colleagues and I had during our recent stay at the MATRIX hotel. First off, the hotel itself is beautiful and the staff were for the most part fantastic. I booked 3 rooms and everything was fine until we returned from our meetings (around midnight). My keycard wouldnt work so I went to the front desk where your agent told me that there has been a mixup and they need to move me out of my room. I had already unpacked earlier and had showered in the room before my meeting. I told him this but he said that unfortunately he would have to send security with me to retrieve my belongings and move me to another room. I was not happy but just wanted to get to bed so we went to my room. As we were packing my items, I asked what my new room is and he gave me the room number of where my colleague was sleeping (my colleague heard this and actually opened the door to ask what was going on- our hotel room was open and he was across the hall). The security guard (who was great by the way) was also confused and wasn't sure why they were making me change my room (in the middle of the night as well). The guard was in the hallway and trying to figure out what to do, I waited 10 mins, shut my door and went to sleep.

We had a small hiccup with our room the first night with there being an issue with cleanliness in the bathroom however when mentioned to the front desk, they were absolutely wonderful to deal with. They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect in every day. Little to my knowledge, my now fiancé was planning to propose and they upgraded our room. I can’t thank them enough for their kindness

The hotel and staff were lovely and comfortable. However there is limited parking by the front lobby and the adjacent lot that is used by the hotel is unsafe with many homeless and down on their luck folks. As a single woman traveling it did not feel safe coming and going to my car

Great location within walking distance to the Legislature Building, and not far from City Hall, the Art Gallery, and the Museum. The room was very clean, staff were friendly, and parking was convenient. The area does have some homeless presence, but I didn’t feel unsafe. My only complaint is the bathroom door — it’s a sliding style that doesn’t close firmly, so moisture, smell, and noise from the bathroom can carry into the sleeping area, which is uncomfortable.

Review for Matrix Hotel, Edmonton We recently stayed at the Matrix Hotel for an Oilers game and had a great experience overall. The hotel is clean, modern, and well-maintained, with comfortable beds that made for a restful night’s sleep. One of the biggest perks was the location—it was only a 15-20 minute walk to Rogers Place, which was super convenient. The only downside was the lack of late-night dining options near the hotel. After the game, we struggled to find a place to grab a bite to eat. Had we known, we would have stopped at one of the restaurants near Rogers Place before heading back. That said, we’d definitely stay here again for the comfort and convenience!

This hotel was conveniently located to our meeting venue . I knew from prior stays to arrive early for parking access. Unfortunately, the restaurant no longer provides a free glass of wine like in the past. Oh well. The breakfast was a very good buffet style. However, there was some confusion when we checked in and I was surprised by a bill after I had been given a voucher by the front desk. The ability to upgrade to a suite (if available) is a nice feature of the hotel. Generally a good stay but more expensive than expected.

Excellent location. Check-in process was awkward. The woman checking me in was really cold to me until she saw I was checking into a suite and then her whole demeanor changed. Visible scuffs and dents in my suite. Stains on the couch. Maintenance staff were very friendly. The breakfast was not good - a buffet serviced by indifferent staff. To their credit, they reversed the upgrade charges when I told them how my stay was.
