Berowra Waters Cottage

Perfect views and location, lovely character cottage. We were provided with a tinny and kayaks which was much appreciated. Sue was the perfect host.

The property owner Sue Elliott was lovely, helpful, and responsive. She clearly works hard.Note that the listing says on-site parking, but you actually need to leave your car at Berowra Waters Marina as the property is only accessible by boat. Sue will provide a transfer to the property when you arrive. Thereafter, a tinny is provided during your stay, but it’s unreliable (barely faster than idle, stalls repeatedly, and often doesn't start) so we felt a bit trapped indoors. Boat transfers are available for 80, but require advanced booking.Dinner at nearby 'A Chef’s Secret' was absolutely amazing, highly recommend! Unfortunately we had to rush our meals due to the dodgy tinny as we were worried about it not getting us back by nightfall. The views from the property are absolutely stunning and were the best part of our stay. The kitchen and bathroom are renovated, clean, and well-equipped. The lounge soft furnishings are very dirty/stained and need a deep clean. Upstairs has two cluttered rooms off the main bedroom. Balcony is unsafe and can't be used. Beds are beautifully made and comfortable. Outdoor area needs a sweeping and cleanup. The property is 'cosy' - don't expect hotel conditions! Breakfast was sourdough, wheatbix or muesli, apricot jam or marmalade. However only 1 L milk was provided for a family of 4 over 3 nights, so suggest you buy more at the store before arriving. We fished from the property and caught a huge flathead and bream - definitely worth a try!

We had a wonderful stay. It was a first for us staying in a boat-only accessible home and although there was things to learn and consider differently it was a very unique experience. We loved the fishing and kayaks - it’s so peaceful and we got to wind down. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and the communication was clear and we felt connected despite bring ‘disconnected’! The complimentary breakfast items were a lovely touch. We took our dog too and he loved it!

We recently stayed for five nights and had been looking forward to really relaxing and being lazy.....and it was perfect! The property was exactly as it how it was depicted....it was just wonderful to wake up and have breakfast right on the water every morning. The only noise were the sounds of the sea planes coming and going at Berowra Waters Inn just round the corner and the lapping of the water as boats passed. We brought some of our own supplies - food, toiletries - and found that we only really needed to bring any snacks and dinner as breakfast was supplied and there was shampoo and everything that you would need provided. It truly is a magical place and Sue, the lovely manager, eased any worries about things like starting the boat and is on hand at any time. She's just terrific. We will definitely be returning but will not be as lazy next time and will actually use the boat and the paddle boards and leave the place! I would recommend staying here to really relax. We were very lucky to be able to bring our little foxy with us and she also enjoyed just lying around and chasing the occasional lizard. My husband has footballer knees which need to be seen to but he managed the few stairs at the front, only to grab a beer/refreshment to return to the pontoon, which he hardly left, to continue fishing and the occasional paddle in the river. We had a really great time and shall be back....
