I stayed at the Sandos Carcol Eco Resort for 6 nights for a wedding. I reserved a penthouse room in the adults "Select" section of the resort. I arrived on a quiet Monday, so was allowed to check in at the main reception desk. Others in my party arrived on different days and had to find their way to the Select check in desk, which isn't easy to find or well marked, & only one person was working that desk. Not a quick check in for those paying a premium. There were some perks to staying in this section, like the adults only pool and a private restaurant that was open breakfast/lunch. The staff at that restaurant were wonderful. The penthouse was not opulent, very basic but with a lot of space, including a large terrace. It had a hot tub on the terrace, but it wasn't really clean so I did not use it. The food was highly average. The steakhouse was excellent our first night but sub-par a few nights later. The Japanese restaurant was very good, but way too warm. The buffet was fairly decent. The taco bar was pretty awful. The grounds are gorgeous and there is an abundance of wildlife. That is really the draw. It rained a lot while we were there, and there were many falls, including mine. I limped to the concierge desk to ask about medical treatment and was told that I could find ice at the bar. A friend finally had a lifeguard come and tend to me. For injuries that happen often, there should be some protocol in place to deal with them.

Great resort overall. Service was a little slow in comparison to what we've seen elsewhere. Some of the activities that we were looking forward to were closed. They explained to us why, which is understandable, but we still felt disappointed. We would like to go back another time to really enjoy everything. The main cenote is amazing to use, especially when the temperature is hot. A lot of wildlife, but the animals are not annoying, which is awesome. Would definitely recommend 👌

Es un resort ecológico con enfoque en diversión para niños. Hasta aquí cumple su cometido, Habitaciones remodeladas en muy buen estado. La cantidad de áreas verdes (selváticas) es impresionante y junto a esto la variedad de fauna con la que se puede tener contacto. Mucho espacio para caminar y hacer senderismo, incluyendo unas ruinas mayas. Lo “negativo” que puedo comentar es: la calidad de los shows es apenas buena, las opciones de restaurantes es limitada y es prácticamente imposible reservar para cualquier tipo de servicio en restaurantes con reservación. El personal se esfuerza por hacer su labor y es un punto a destacar.
