Allegro Playacar - All Inclusive Resort

Great ppace to stay in Playacar. Probably the best food in all the resorts we have stayed in. This is our second time back. Clean rooms and great service. If you are looking for a low key place to stay, away from crowds, good beach, this is it.

Great beach and property. Love the little bungalows with 8 (i think) rooms per - instead of one giant hotel- excellent friendly service in the restaraunts and bars Food was very good- pools and beach and grounds are lovely, short walk from resort to a little shopping mall We had a problem with air conditioning in the room that took 6 days to resolve- if not for that would have been perfect trip- rooms are pretty basic- wifi worked very well in lobby, rooms, and sometimes by the pools/beach

Room was small No hot water for a day Seaweed on the beach Ran out of beach towels by 4pm No entertainment

The service was second to none. Although I’ve seen negative reviews about the meals, we really enjoyed them. The beach was awesome! The pool always had activities going on and a fun environment. As other reviews indicate, the rooms are dated and require some tender loving care but we were not there for the room. The grounds were kept very clean and well maintained: thw whole process for booking an a a la cartes was a bit ridiculous as they had theme nights at the buffet for the same meals.having said that, the staff were great and the meals delicious, the drinks awesome and the beach was unbelievable! What’s not to love?! We got a great price on our rooms and had a fantastic experience. Thank you allegro Playacar!

Overall i loved our stay, the staff was nice and attentive. The food was amazingggg better than most buffet hotels and they even have a section where they cook it on the grill so its even fresher! I liked how they varied dinner almost every night, lunch was hotdogs and burgers, and they had a pizza snack bar. Breakfast was great loved their chilaquiles. The facilities were nice they had shows at 9:30 every night and sometimes they would play movies before that time :) the hotel was roomy, the onlyy complaint for us would be the AC there is hardly any air flow when its day time it feels warm inside, we had the ceiling fan running 24/7. And the buffet areas are even hotter, the best spot is inside the doors on the side where they host the restaurants, where it is slightly cold, but yup u will be sweating while eating ur food. During dinner time its not so bad since the sun is down tho. And the BEACH is great its right behind the hotel, had nice blue water came during the seaweed season but every 3 days or so they would clean up the shore, but beautiful waters. Also its close to a shopping area when u walk out go left, and a lot of the souvenirs are CHEAP there versus 5th avenue, so definitely go there first to buy ur stuff.

This place was awesome, all the food was really good, i wish i could of tried it all. But the food wasnt the only thing great, the service was awesome thanks to Sarai and Petrona, those girls are awesome. Theres a show every night, if u stop by, u got to go see the wonderful bartend Nestor, he will treat you right. The pools are awesome and clean and just a short walk to the beach. I diffently will b back

Me he hospedado en varios hoteles Todo Íncluido y esta fue una experiencia algo diferente. El hotel en sí es muy bonito, tiene dos albercas y una ubicación espectacular frente a la playa. Hay mucho espacio para relajarse en camastros. Todos los días organizan actividades en el área de la alberca y por la noche, hay shows en un teatro al aire libre. La habitación era amplia y cómoda, pero tuvimos un inconveniente con el agua caliente. Aunque reportamos el problema y el personal acudió rápidamente, no lo solucionarlo. Lamentablemente, no tener agua suficientemente caliente le resta puntos a una experiencia que debería ser relajante. El servicio del personal fue muy amable y atento, las mayores desventajas giran en torno a la comida. Las opciones del buffet eran bastante limitadas y el sabor nada destacable; lo más rescatable fue el desayuno. Algo que nos decepcionó bastante fue la política de los restaurantes temáticos. Se requiere una estancia mínima de 3 noches para obtener solo una cena en estos restaurantes, a diferencia de otros hoteles (como el de junto: Royal Hideaway también de Barceló Hotels) donde basta con reservar con antelación. Para quienes valoramos mucho la gastronomía, esto fue una gran desventaja. En resumen, este hotel puede ser una excelente opción para grupos o familias que buscan divertirse en la playa y no tienen mayores expectativas gastronómicas. Si la comida es una experiencia importante de tu viaje, considera otras opciones.

Great little budget resort. Lot of Spanish speakers simply because it's in the price range for those from Mexico. Meals were good and staff was warm and polite. Rooms were comfortable. Beach and pool were smaller but very clean. Very scenic. My only criticism would be the hot water was out on our last day and a half. Did not spoil things for me though. Overall. We enjoyed it very much and if we have the opportunity we will return.

While the grounds were beautiful, the dining options were limited and repetitive. We spent the first three days without hot water. The TV did not work and the one they replaced it with had a scratched screen and poorly lit picture.

Small all-inclusive in Playacar - we liked the size compared to some of the larger AIs we’ve stayed at. Fortunately the buffet dining area was very good for all three meals, because to get a reservation at one of the small restaurants was ridiculous (you have to wait in line the morning you want to dine, they start taking reservations at 9:30 but people queue up starting at 8:30am!). Adriana makes a great custom omelet and we loved having Paolo as our server). Pools were nice & clean. Beach area had plenty of chairs. Rooms were a good size and had good AC in our ground floor unit. Entertainment each night was very good. Overall a very casual resort that we enjoyed!

The property needs a bit of updating and a deep clean. Especially chairs in dining area. Scrub between the squares on the backs of the chairs. Love Alejandro, Ricardo, Humberto. We had large beetles in our room. Very frightening in the night going to the washroom and seeing one of them on the floor. Not as good a visit as 5 yrs ago. Alot of the same staff though and we loved that.

Läget var perfekt och hotellområdet med byggnader tillsynes fint. Däremot var rummen slitna, fuktiga och hade dålig luft. Städningen var otroligt dålig och golven var smutsiga. Vi fick be om handdukar vid upprepade tillfällen då de glömdes bort. Det var inte alla i receptionen som kunde prata engelska men framförallt var de flesta i receptionen otrevliga, nonchalanta, saknade servicekänsla och var hånfulla om man hade något klagomål. Maten var bra överlag men frukosten bestod av resterna från gårdagens middag. Solsängarna nere på stranden var slitna och smutsiga och tillhörande bord rengjordes aldrig så det var smutsiga och kladdiga.

Since the check in, there was lack of Staff and the waiting times for anything you required, were long. We were given our room, and it had dirty sheets, spider webs on the night lights, and empty bottles around. Changed to another room, it was clean, but AC didn’t work properly, couldn’t get temperature below 25*C. The quality of the drinks for this all inclusive is Awful, and there is no way for you to purchase a better alcohol package. Food was average. Also, some staff will try to sell you this Vacational plans, which are a complete SCAM, please do not take this.

The beach was very nice. There are plenty of palm trees and beach chairs and they have 2 pool areas with plenty of chairs. I enjoyed the weather and the place. The food was good enough and there was plenty of food, music all day, activities and warm, clean sea water. What I didn't like was the room. They have nice-looking villas with a beautiful veranda (ours had a beach view) but the bathroom smelled day and night (a urine-like stench), the sheets had stains on them and the covers looked unclean. We did not get fresh towels daily (had to ask.) There was only one towel for the hands and I had to ask them to give me more than one. My daughter's bed was too small and too close to the bathroom with only one blanket. Another blanket was in the closet, but when I used it I noticed it had a large orange stain and it smelled . It also had hair stuck on it. In other words, the location, the beach area and the food were very good but the cleanliness and comfort in the room were not. (One night it rained and the rain came in.)

It’s very nice and super clean, buffet is tasty and the restaurants have great chefs it is a gourmet experience. The room was always clean. The property is huge and beautiful:)

This property was terrible! Stayed in this resort for 7 nights with my pregnant wife. First issue, the fan in our room was broken from the very first night, so I called maintenance and asked if they can come fix it. They never fixed it. Then our AC broke and leaked a huge puddle of water all onto the floor of our room. Also, our room was FULL of ants all over our things! So we had to keep all our hygiene supplies, clothes, etc. closed and locked away in our luggage. The food was mediocre, little to no activities, low maintenance of the pool, I can go on for a while with issues. For an all inclusive it was an absolute nightmare. For the price you pay here, you can pay the same elsewhere with WAY BETTER quality in every aspect. This resort needs a revamp to compete with the other resorts surrounding it. I personally, will never stay here again. I never leave ratings and I l absolutely hate leaving reviews like this, but this just goes to show how bad of an experience we had. Hope this place improves in the near future for the travelers yet to visit.

Checked us into a room with no AC that smelled musty like a wet rag and found several silver fish in the bed. Linens and pillow cases had stains. 1st night stay was miserable, hardly got any sleep. We asked for a room change and they told us to wait until the next day. Next day we had to check out before 12 and couldn’t check back in until 3pm. They had us waiting until almost 4 pm to check us into another room only to find we only had 1 bed for 3 pple not two beds, as promised. They stated it was because housekeeping had to approve of the room set up which was lies because once we walked into the room we were missing a bed, bath mat and 1 towel. Everyday we were there, we had to ask for an extra towel because they would only leave us 2 and not 3, so I had to share a towel with one of my room mates every time I showered. Staff lies and gives a different story every time you ask them for something and I wasn’t asking for much, just working AC and 1 towel per guest. Service in the buffet not so great, they would refuse to serve me coffee even when they had a coffee pot in their hands. I had to go to servers station to get my own coffee. I recommend not staying here but if you choose this place, get a first floor room. 2nd floor rooms have palapa ceilings with holes in them which may be why they are hot, musty and filled with bugs. Beach and pool were nice. Bar staff were good as well. You’re not allowed to get poolside food if you’re wet FYI, makes no sense but there you are.

Las instalaciones están bonitas, es amplio, la playa es preciosa, también la comida es rica. Los meseros de la mañana y la noche muy amables; personal en general un poco pesados y siempre nos decían que no tenían toallas para la piscina. Limpieza en habitaciones le falta bastante, el aire acondicionado no se adapta a la temperatura que uno pone sino general, dls noches estuvo bien y las otras nos congelamos porque estaba muy baja la temperatura. En general calidad-precio está bien.

The bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and everything was very clean. The food was good and the buffet was varied enough to keep it interesting. Nice pools and beach. Only downside was the showers didnt get very warm.

Not great; but not terrible. If you go there expecting sandals, you’re going to be upset. If you have realistic expectations about what you paid, it’s fine. The staff were nice enough. Quick check in and check out. We were in room 1112 which is literally next to the stage. They have extremely loud shows until after 10:30 every night. It you have little ones, you do not want that room. The ac went out the second day. It was hot. There was absolutely no water pressure or hot water. But, good news, the room was so darn hot that the cool water felt fine. The bar opens at 11. Fine but not great when you get to the beach at 0800. There was a huge fight between guests. Not the properties fault but it didn’t make us feel safe. We opted for full day all inclusive excursions to Xel-ha and XCARET. Absolutely worth it and it got us out of there for the entire day each time. There’s games for the kids - except there were no balls to play any of it. No tennis, basketball, soccer, or foosball. Just a few small tweaks and investments and this place could really be exceptional. The beach is beautiful. The pools were clean. The food is decent and the alcohol was cheap.

I have stayed at Allegro 4 times. This stay was disappointing. The best things: The bartenders, servers, and housekeeping, were fabulous! Ricardo, made our trip.. what a gem for Allegro to have on their staff. The food was awesome, and always fresh.. hats off to the chef and the kitchen staff! The items to improve: The staff at reception was non responsive to guests with issues. They would write things down and basically do nothing. We lost AC 3 days in, 10 times to reception, i asked for manager. It was determined that this AC needed a part that would take 4 days. We were moved to a room with AC however; this room was a storage room and had mold. Day 2 on this room, the sink pipe sprung a leak and we spet 2 hours cleaning up water. Lunna did offer a massage for my sister and I, very nice gesture, but after all the crap, i think they could have done more. Our last day, that AC went out, room smelled more like mold and the condensation on the floor was so slippery we had to use all our towels just to walk around. Beyond disappointed with the upkeep on this property, as many guests were complaining about no AC, no hot water, etc. i really hope the Barcelo puts some money into this place as it has so much character and charm but desperately needs maintenance and up keep.

Be sure to request a room on the first floor. The second floor is thatched roofing that clearly didn’t work so they put nets in. We had geckos crawling around the walls.

We had to change rooms after the first night we were there. Our air conditioner didn’t work and plumbing in the restroom was bad. The room we received on our second day was better however, the beds were hard and not comfortable. The food options were decent.

The room was nice, but small. The attached mirror was filthy and not all the outlets worked. The walls are so thin and they were renovating the room next to ours so there was no way to sleep in or relax in the room during the day.

Pretty average. Our room never cooled down to a comfortable temperature so it was hard to sleep. I stayed at a 5 star resort the next night and the difference in food was huge. The food here was really average.

Property is pretty outdated. If your are ok with your room being 75deg F after being out in the sun all day, this is a place for you. If not, you are in for a rough vacation. Their ac units will NOT cool below 75 day or night. Buffets options are very limited. Wish I was told that no dinner areas are conditioned. Every dinning area is very not with no A/C

We loved our stay the staff was amazing and very helpful. bit shout outs to Victor, Maria, Luis, Betty, Mike, Carlos, and many more that I am sure I forgot. The hotel although older was very well kept and comfortable. Our only complaints were the loud music from the neighboring hotel at night. We did wish the food at the buffet was a little better, there wasn't much of a change in selections, and no flavor at all. At breakfast you had the option of cooked to order eggs/omelet's, would suggest strongly that you load up. Dinner was a real disappointment most nights. Activities and pools where very enjoyable, but we made the most of the day trips out. you can walk 5 minutes outside the hotel to a small shopping plaza, that was a bit over priced, but everything we found is negotiable. Or take the 30 min walk to 5th Ave, tons of shopping, food, music take the ferry over to Cozumel for the day. There are also ruins to explore the walk to 5th ave. make a full day of it so much to see and do. We are already planning our next trip back.

For the first 3 days we were at the resort our room would have no running water for a portion of the day. Front desk was dismissive and offered no solution. Finally on the 4th day when we didn't have water for approx. 3 hrs and were going to miss dinner reservations because of it we needed to get a manager involved to offer a solution because at that point front desk was simply not even answering our calls. The sales team is also so aggressive with their nonstop harassment it’s hard to even walk by the lobby without having to listen to a sales pitch. I would not recommend this property. Playa del Carmen has too many options. Keep looking for a better stay.

Upon arrival, my wife and I were greeted by Roberto . Who took care of everything and anything that needed to be taken care of . Including interpreting for our transportation back to the airport also regularly checking up on us throughout our stay.Would have to say he went above and beyond to assure of a GREAT vacation

Honestly the BEST customer service i've had in a long time. Travelled with 7 girls for a bach. It was a small resort, walkable, clean and the team was unbelievably kind. Special shout out to Jorge the Chef. I am celiac and he walked me around the buffet telling me what was safe and what wasn't & even brought me my own dessert! So kind & accommodating, would recommend!

La propiedad el hotel en general muy limpio pero la persona que se encarga en hacer las reservaciones para la cena ANDREA es una persona despota y mal educada nos trató mal deberían de mejorar en la recepción y tratar de mejorar.

The resort was super clean with really friendly staff. The beach was perfect. We loved that it was a smaller resort not as much walking to get places. The Mexican restaurant was amazing. We would definitely go back here again!

Quarto muito bom, geladeira com agua, cerveja e refrigerante, um dia nos deixaram uma garrafa de vinho, achei bem cordial, gostei da localização, fica dentro deum condominio . e tem um centrinho onde tem feirinha, lojas de artesanado e roupas e restaurantes.

We had an amazing time at Allegro! We loved the direct access to the beach, and had many relaxing walks by the ocean. All the staff we interacted with were a pleasure. Everyone was attentive, friendly, helpful, and so much fun! Lots of options for food, drinks, and activities inside the resort. We also loved how we could easily walk to town and the market for shopping and more fun. Overall, there’s really nothing bad to say about our experience here, and we’re super excited to make another trip. 10/10 :)

I loved this resort! Nice and quiet! Hardly any children; not a kids resort. Top shelf food and drinks. Clean cold pools! Perfect! Beach was amazing.

We had a wonderful stay and the staff was exceptional and the food options were delicious.

Allegro Playacar is a very nice and quiet hotel. We stayed there for Christmas with my husband and two teenagers. The service was amazing. Location is amazing. Downtown is a 15 min. walk. Value is amazing. We would go back there again.

Place is not so be big … the beach is speechless very beautiful. All the staff very very friendly. I definitely recommended this place and I would go there again.

We always enjoy staying here. It is verrry budget so if you are expecting lots of amenities you will be very disappointed. It is an older resort but it is quaint quiet has an excellent beach. Food is good for a small resort. Walking distance to a small plaza just a couple of city blocks away. Staff is kind. You could even walk to 5 th avenue if you wanted. All in all a great experience for us but it is not for everyone. If you are budget conscious you will love it

Dated operations. You have to stand in line every morning to book dinner at the restaurants. The food was nothing spectacular.

Very limited buffet and ala carte restaurants. Of the 4 at dinner only the buffet and 1 or 2 ala carte were open.

Breakfast was great! Go get the French toast. Load up on it because the lunches and dinners aren’t the best. Depending on where you sit in the restaurant the waiters may not even come to you. I strongly recommend sitting by the Italian restaurant The events coordinator was a blast

Para empezar el hotel como tal es muy bonito, pero la comida es terrible, para los restaurantes tienes que hacer una fila muy larga para poder hacer reservaciones y aun haciendo la fila no te garantiza un cupo en el restaurante que quieras, de tres restaurantes que tienen solo abren dos por día, 3 días me quedé sin agua en el dormitorio y para colmo el último día me levanté a las 3:30 y para mi sorpresa no había agua le indicó al front desk y me dijo que ya se suponía que abrieran la pompa de agua para esa hora, jamás he ido a un hotel que cierren la pompa de agua. Jamás volvería a este hotel y no lo recomiendo para nada.

We really loved the property and the way things were set up. The one thing we really missed was having entertainment within the resort such as shows. They don't serve alcohol before 11am and then after 9pm only one bar is open for drinks. We found that evenings were very boring. We also found the food was the same every day. No variety. This is the perfect resort for someone for a good rest, but to have fun and experience music, shows and other fun, you have to leave the resort itself.
