Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo - Hyatt Inclusive Collection - All Inclusive

I have stayed at this chain of hotels several times and always had a great experience until now. The beaches is beautiful, the resort is clean, the location is great, and the food was good. However, this is the 1st resort I've been to that has NO room service, the entertainment was mediocre, and there were never enough beach chairs by the pool on any of the 5 days I was there; since people would put their towels down in the pool chairs at 6am and then disappear. The staff was unhelpful when this was borught to their attention.

The AC control was missing and the room was very cold! No parking and we have to pay per every day!

The food options were really good and the quality, flavor. The property has internet access anywhere and fast enough speed. The bed is ok, but could be more comfortable, my wife and child does not rest as we hope. In general the hotel is very nice and we can see an operating system working, all staff aligned and work concentrated. They really take care about people’s in the hotel.

In disrepair: Open trenches thougout garden. No hot water one day. plumbing issues, broken doorr.. AC issues on 2 rooms- not solved. Bad management: lines for everything and people fighting for food - though they claimed to be at 40% occupancy Checked out earky- hotel said they’d refund then refused refund to expedia, not even partial

The transportation on site was great, the men driving the carts were very helpful especially Augustin. The beach is beautiful and the staff very helpful. Rooms were cleaned well every day. We were very disappointed in the food. They advertise 6 restaurants but for 5 night stay you only get to eat dinner twice at the restaurant, 7 nights you get 3 times to eat at the restaurants. Then the rest of the time its all buffet. The buffet is dry, bland and repetitive food. The restaurant food isnt much better, 2 of my kids vomited after eating at the restaurants. Also they should have a bar dedicated to kids, it was difficult to get a drink because kids are always at the bar getting drinks. The beds are very hard and uncomfortable.

Great experience with good comfort, food, drinks and excellent atmosphere. The Wi-Fi at this hotel is totally crap, with 1-3 Mbit at a non stable connection. The only reason this hotel still receives 5/5 from me is the shining star of this hotel: Lidia at Customer Relations. She really takes pride in making sure the customers are happy and are trying with any means necessary to solve their issues. Every hotel should have a Lidia!

Our family had an amazing stay at Bahia Principe El Portillo, and I want to highlight the people who truly made our vacation special. Kids Entertainment: My daughter Victoria absolutely loved the activities! A huge thank you to Luisairis, Beba, and Dominga — they are incredibly warm, energetic, and creative. Every day Victoria ran to them with a smile, and we always felt she was safe, engaged, and genuinely happy. For my son Daniel, the entertainment team was fantastic as well. Special thanks to Victor Calois and Barron for their positive energy, fun games, and personal attention. They created a great atmosphere for older kids and made Daniel feel included and confident. Spa Experience: We also visited the spa, and it was wonderful. Esther and Gricel provided excellent service — very professional, gentle, and attentive. After the treatment we felt relaxed and refreshed. Highly recommend! Overall, the hotel has a great family-friendly vibe, clean territory, beautiful beach, and an amazing team that really cares about guests. We are grateful for all the moments they helped create for our children. Would love to return again!

Let’s start with the good things, the best you have is your staff, almost everyone was very friendly specially the room attendant, the staff at the buffet as well very friendly,we did not use the pool not even once I believe is just one pool for all that people, just not good for me,the must uncomfortable part is very small parking place near the lobby, the parking was outside and very inconvenient and far I believe for locals like me who goes driving their own car is very inconvenient,we only had acces for one a la cart restaurant, although not impressed with the menu we went to the fish market something like that, we waited like 15 minutes to be taken the order while another family was attended much more faster I believe some how the paid more attention because they were from another country, anyways the best part is when I asked for room service they told me at the lobby the hotel does not offer room service. Definitely not coming any more to this facility or any Bahia principe.

The property itself is huge with a great entertainment staff. The pool and beach were nice. The food was savory and delicious. Friendly staff.

The property needs an entire renovation. The rooms are old, moldy and rusty. The bathroom especially had a lot of mold and rust. Although our room was cleaned well daily, the floors outside the rooms were never cleaned. The same dirt in the same place every day. The food at the restaurants was terrible and the buffet was constantly full of flies to a point that you couldn't sit and enjoy your meal. Hopefully once the Hyatt takes over this place will see great renovations.

Tan malo y tantos problemas sin resolver que pagamos 9 dias y nos fuimos al 3er dia Y a pesar de recoamos diarios y reclamo formal antes de irnos denegaron devolucion siquiera parcial del dinero Sucio a toda hora. Basura x todos lados, baños sucios. Piscina cerrada a diario por “code brown” Falta mantenimiento: puerta, caja seguridad, inodoro, lavamanos cortina y aire acondicionado roto/ pierde/ no funciona- y no lo arreglan. Un dia sin agua caliente. Construccion en el parque sin mencionarlo: El camino de la playa a la habitacion es campo minado de plantas muertas, huecos, cables, trabajadores gritando, escombros, ruido Pesima administracion: abarrotado. Colas para todo- y supuestamente estan al 40% de ocupacion Gente peleando por la comida Luego de tantos problemas sin resolver y hablar a diario con la gerente nos dicen que si hacemos early checkout ellos nos devuelven el dinero- depende de Expedia. Intentan poner motivo “no me gusta”- aclaro que el motivo es la cantidad de problems sin resolver. Me piden firmar que me voy “sin reclamos”- aclaro que me voy PORQUE TENGO RECLAMOS Entonces me dan la opcion de presentar reclamo formal antes de hacer el early checkout y firmar lo que me exigen para poder salir Luego deniegan la devolución (ni siquiera parcial)

I liked the workers, service is excellent. No internet in the room until the last day. Showers in the bathroom needs a deep cleaning on the walls. FOOD is great! Thanks!

El hotel en general necesita un upgrade pq ya se ve muy viejo sobre todo en las habitaciones las toallas de playa está casi todas rotas y las de la habitación están empercudidas

Fue una muy buena experiencia aunque con algunas incomodidades , el personal excelente la limpieza excelente la comida super siempre con mucha variedad y buenas atenciones de todo el personal del hotel , siempre amable y con una sonrisa . Algo que si me hizo incomodar un poco reporte el refigerador de la habitación desde el dia que llegue ya que este no funcionaba y yo estaba con mi hijo el cual tenia leche y medicamentos que necesitaba tener en temperatura fria pues nunca fueron a cambiarla ni ponerla en funcionamiento y llegue hacer mas de 3 reportes deberian tener mas cuidado y estar al pendiente al personal que esta para mantenimiento . Despues de ahi todo fue excelente y volveria en un futuro.

We were in a standard room which was clean except there were some roaches when we checked in. They fumigated room and only saw 1 more insect the rest of stay. Did not receive my free bottle of spirits upon check in even though I showed them from booking that I was entitled to it. Entertainment was awesome, they really worked hard. Wait staff was friendly but most mornings got my own coffee and water. Food was great

Me gusta mucho este hotel pero las habitaciones ya no están en buen estado las sábanas y toallas están muy viejas y se ven sucias en lo demás está bien

This hotel is not at the 5 star level; If they had it at the beginning, they have let it degrade over time due to the lack of competition since there are few "all-inclusive" hotels in the area. To improve, they must prevent the client from encountering unpleasant experiences in the rooms (water licks that wet the bathroom; cockroaches (we killed 4, 3 small and 1 large).

Las instalaciones de uso común, como restaurantes, piscina, playa estaban en muy buenas condiciones y muy bien mantenidos, en cambio las habitaciones no estaban de igual forma, eran viejas y con mobiliario antiguo, el aire acondicionado nunca funcionó y por más que fue reportado este no mejoró, propuse un cambio de habitación y no fue concedido. Para los restaurantes con reserva, solo permiten una reserva cada 3 noches y esto no es informado en expedía ni en el momento del check in. En este hotel no tuve la experiencia que siempre he tenido en la cadena Bahía Príncipe, que siempre ha sido excepcional. En cuanto al servicio de los colaboradores, es inestable, algunos dan un muy buen servicio y otros simplemente NO. Definitivamente no recomendaría este hotel :(

The property is old and deteriorated. Their policy in children above age of 12 paying as an adult is unreasonable. You pay higher price with no added benefits. The chefs in the buffet are excellent and accommodating. They prioritized my daughter’s allergy at all time. That was the best part. There is however an abundance of cats, dogs and ducks throughout the property. Not what I expected- having to jump over cats to access my room. The property is old and the room is falling apart- and that’s considering I was placed in a VIP room. My family member’s AC failed and had to change rooms. The service is excellent, but the hotel needs a makeover. The people were great. It was okay, but probably not returning to this hotel in the future.

The property was ok. The food was ok. There were termites in our room and on the bed due to the cheap wood used on the furniture. The staff took care of it right away but I don’t plan on staying here during our next visit to Las Terrenas. The pool was the best part.

We've visited this hotel a few times, mostly because we like the surrounding area of Las Terrenas and its pretty well the only all inclusive hotel in the area. On this visit the food was slightly above average. The room had issues with the hot water and air conditioning control and the fridge leaking water on the floor which we just put up with. At least the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. There were a few bar tenders that were cold, but the majority were friendly. We found around half the staff serving in the dining room weren't very friendly and got in little arguments. If there were two things this hotel needed to improve, it would be conducting a calendar fixed scheduled maintenance in each and every room to make sure everything works right and old and broken items are replaced. The second would be to have bar and dining room staff that are consistently friendly.

This is the second time coming to this resort. The place is still beautiful and the entertainment is better. However the comfort of the beds and pillows in the room need to improve. The bed was too hard and stiff. The pillows were too hard as well. Every morning I woke up with body aches from the bed. The quality of the food decreased a little this time. Not a lot of variety of good food at the Buffet. Overall the experience be was good. The beach and pool are beautiful.

Certaine chambre on besoin d’être rénovée en urgence (punaise de lit…je me suis fait massacrer…)la robinetterie dans les salle de bain plein de calcaire sinon la nourriture rien à redire et le cadre est magnifique

The hotel needs to upgrade. The hotel room door was broken and cannot be closed. This is unacceptable. It was wasting my time to chased after the service desk to change the room.

Staff was friendly. No complaints from the food. It’s just the place needs updating. The ac barely kept room cool. Just overall worn out and old looking.

I just want to shout out Pablo, one of the waiters by the pool bar who was absolutely amazing! The entire 5 days of my stay he had the same energy, extremely welcoming, and providing excellent service the entire time at the pool everyday. If I come back it would solely be to receive service from him. I want to also shoutout Rafael at the Brazilian restaurant who brought the most amazing energy and service! These workers truly make the experience an unforgettable one! The Brazilian restaurant was amazing as well!

The staff were very friendly and respectful. I have to say that the rooms need an update specially the bathrooms. The food was also really good. All activities were fun and the beach was incredible.

The poor service at the front desk and guest service representative. They are so rude and there is a lack of real customer service.

The hotel overall was a mediocre experience. The room was beautiful and was always cleaned very well. The hotel itself was pretty clean and and had lots of variety to offer in terms of food, drinks, activities, and different restaurants. However with all those amazing things the most important thing to me is staff treatment and how I was being treated as a guest. The staff was not very nice at all and a lot of them had many attitudes that were not pleasant. A lot of the waiters kicked us out of different restaurants for variety of reasons that didn’t make any sense to us and we understood some of them but the way situations were handled were very unpleasant and rude. We also decided to leave the hotel and discover the outskirts of the hotel and we left the hotel for 8 hours just to come back and find out our hotel room was left open for 8 hours after the cleaning ladies went in. We had a lot of valuable stuff in there and were schocked on how the room was left open. After trying to speak with a manager multiple times they didn’t want to let us speak with them and we had to basically force our way and they didn’t offer any help or solutions. We also had some trouble with the people in the front gate where they saw our car leave the hotel multiple times and they were being very ignorant and unpleasant about us coming in and out of the resort. Sometimes they didn’t want to let us in and sometimes they did so it was a whole mess.

Also, water was only filled once during any meal and never refilled. I had to get up more than once and go to the wait station to fill our glasses myself, even with a waiter standing there watching me do it. The hotel was booked full, and they did not have enough staff to meet the needs of that many guests. There was always a long line to get into the buffet, and we never were able to eat inside - to be seated we had to go to the terrace, but at least we had a nice view. They only give you one restaurant reservation for every 3 nights of your stay, and they pick the restaurant. Download their APP before going and then supposedly you can reserve what you want up to 10 days before, but we didn't know that, so we got what was left over. We did like our meal in the Greek Restaurant, and that was the only meal we had good service for. The kids club was good, and our daughter had a positive experience with them

Our family had an amazing time the staff was so friendly and welcoming we didn’t want to leave. Adrian in the front desk was so helpful and made us feel like family. He helped with our check in and check out we were in a rush and needed help with a broken luggage and he made sure to send us help right away. We look forward to planning a trip next year. Only negative comment we had was with our laundry we waited a long time for the bag then waited some more for the laundry list that has to be filled out. I spoke to an agent who assured they would prioritize it as we were leaving next day when I got to the room at night the room was clean and the laundry bag was still next to the door with the laundry list still attached which was disappointing . Other than that everything was amazing.

Check in and out with Orlenny was very professional and courteous. She was truly AMAZING. Resort could benefit from having more staff at buffet, poolside, and beach.

I’ve been to more than a handful of resorts including others in the Dominican Republic and the hospitality here was not great. When we arrived we were not received with a drinking or anything at all. The people in the front desk were probably some of the only people that were friendly at the resort. To start, they put us in a room that was disgusting, the tub looked like it hadn’t been washed in days and on top of that the air conditioner didn’t work. I reported this about 4 times before they finally switched our rooms. Also, the room phone didn’t work so I had to walk to the lobby every time to report this. The reason for our trip was to celebrate my son and mom’s birthday which they can clearly see on their passports and they did nothing to acknowledge it not even a happy birthday. The entertainment staff needed more energy they were either half asleep or missing. The shows were boring and lacked energy. There was also no one walking around the pool or beach asking if you wanted a drink or anything, you’d have to go to the bar yourself. In the buffet it would take like 20 min for someone to bring you water and another 20 min just to ask what you’d want to drink. All the employees with the exception of a few, did not look like they wanted to be there, no one was excited to see anyone we’d say hello and would be ignored. There were times we’d ask questions and no one would know the answer or give unclear directions. If you’re expecting 5 star service this is not the place.

L'hotel en lui meme etait tres bien, repas tres bon, personnel competent, locaux propre, belle plage ect... Seul insatisfaction sur l'emplacement de l'hotel qui est loin de las terennas et mal deservit. Nous avons eu l'impression que l'hotel faisait tout pour nous garder a l'hotel car pour 12km aller/retour ils nous proposer un servkce taxi a 70 euros. En sortant un taxi nous a prit pour 7euros (l'accueil de l'otel s'est caché de nous le dire) ... Cettains toutistes sont malheuresement pas respectueux du personnels ... Bonne adresse 😇

Outside areas was great. Great bar and entertainment, beach was nice. Did not like the limited dining options and can use some updating. Not much in the area to do

My return flight on the actual day ended up being sooner than the original one from my booking. Since the resort was 2 hours away from the airport, this change made it quite stressful to get to the airport. We still made it but by a hair as we were the last one to board, thanks to our driver and the airport staff.

There is a good variety of food and good quality, the buffet did not disappoint. Entertaining was great, loved the silence party it was fun, staff are very friendly and charismatic full of energy and the theater was also enjoyable. In reception Liliana was very helpful all the time, a thousand thanks. The beach area is beautiful and you can take long walks to the side of the beach and have peace and quite, basically the beach for yourself. Difficult to move around the town if you do not have your own transportation but the hotel can call you a taxi.

Bar needs to be improved cocktails are too sweet they use sugar stead the real ingredient to prepared drink. Example I asked for a long isla ice tea, they didn’t use the real ingredient to make the drink I returned because it was too sweet. Not quality drinks, however I don’t think the bartender have the necessary ingredients.

Acabamos de regresar del hotel Bahía P. El Portillo en Samaná. Hotel muy lindo, destaco la limpieza. Tal vez la comida no se destaca al igual que los tragos pero nunca falta, pollo, pescado, pastas y carne. De todos modos Hotel recomendable.

Check in was very easy. Make reservations ahead of time for dinner. Only allowed 3 reservations? A little weird. Dinners were very good. A lot of flies present in buffet area. A little gross. Family did enjoy stay a lot. Have two young kids who enjoyed trip as well.

Didnt like the fact that you only get one day of a La carte restaurants in a 3 nights stay. Not good.

Great hotel overall. Buffet food was good but not great, the restaurants that you make reservations with are the better option for dinner.

This is not a 5star hotel. The food and drink quality was not good, the amenities poor, etc
