We had a beautiful time at this resort! The pools are absolutely amazing. We loved the easy access to the beach. The view from our room was breathtaking and peaceful. I really appreciated how the staff would come in every day and give us new towels and clean up the sand in the bathroom and on the floors. No matter how careful we were there was still sand everywhere and this service really helped us manage it. The bell staff/ valet staff at the front were SO WELCOMING. We werent even valeting and they greeted us everytime and got to know us. The only complaint I have is that the beds were so small. They were full beds. Queen beds would have been much more comfortable for a family of 4. The beds also easily rolled and was hard to keep them in place. Overall this was a great experience and we would stay here again without thinking twice!

Great location with pool and beach. The grounds were beautiful! Excellent food too. The resort rooms need to be redone. We were in a “premium room” but they are very tired looking and bathrooms need updating. The beds were broken down. Need new mattresses desperately. And two beds are double - not queen. On the grounds- 1/2 the string lights are lit up- 1/2 the tiki torches are lit at night. They have 7-8 umbrellas at the pool for the entire resort. Guests would put towels out at 6am and save their spot and come out in the afternoon. Overall- a good place.

The outrigger is centrally located to all the desirable sites on the island. Saves greatly on travel time. On site dining and very close to a variety of off site dining options. The resort is quiet, beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Staff is pleasant and helpful. I should be noted that one of the building is undergoing a full remodel so there was some construction noise on occasion.(Late July 2025) The beach is directly connected to the resort and there is easy access and fantastic views. The area at the resort is not really swimable, but safe areas are just a short walk up the beach. No lifeguard however. Parking is close but there is a daily fee. Would highly recommend.

Breakfast was tasty, staff were polite but not all were consistently friendly and they were short-staffed at the front desk and in the restaurant. The pool area was clean and the gardens were well-maintained but the pool restroom was rarely cleaned and one bathroom boarded up in the ladies. One of the elevators was out for the duration of our stay and the espresso machine in the Starbucks was also out for over a week. The cultural events were great. Lots of food packaging waste created from food outlets.

Room was in good shape except for peeling paint in the tub. The resort was pricey for having the lobby in the middle of a remodel, requiring the guests to walk through the restaurant to get to the pool. Bar at the pool closed up early one evening. Some locations were in need of updating.

This property is aged and needs much updating. Old wrinkled carpets, torn drapes, garden view is a gross water holding pond. Lounge chairs by the pool are saggy and old. No food or beverage service by the pool. The beach is small and has a natural rock shelf just a few feet out. Not a good swimming beach. The flight path flies right over the pool area. We could hear flights all night long from our room. Parking lot is a bit of a walk, feels longer when it's raining. Resort charged me parking and resort fees at check in. Thought the resort fees were included in the trip package. Positive is the few staff members are kind and friendly. Our room was clean. Wish they included tea instead of just coffee in the room. Also not mentioned, they have a Starbucks counter by the gift shop. Wish I knew before day 4. Also the gift shop has a sundries display in case you forgot something. Nice gifts, pricing about the same as elsewhere on the island. Would I stay here again, no.

Very clean and comfortable stay. Staff was cheerful and friendly. Location is quiet, away from any traffic, very peaceful. Lovely for beach walks, but swimming in the ocean isn’t encouraged. Pools are beautiful. Food is reasonably priced, and the beach bar/cafe is great for lunch!

The pool area was nice- but about 30 lounge chairs for 300 rooms??? Could never get a lounge chair by the pool. They nickel and dimed you to death. They are raking in the money with car parking at $29 per day, $30 per day resort fees-which didn't include much, $25 PER HOUR extra if you wanted a late check out, $6 per cup of plain coffee, high drink and food prices with just ok menu, lots of maintenence going on on our floor. Won't stay here again

Could use some serious upgrading. Room was decent but there was rust in the bathtub, shower controls were falling apart, paint bubbling from some sort of water damage, heavy corrosion on the door mechanism and the toilet was leaking and not sitting evenly. The ice machine on our floor was not working properly so we had to find another one and laundry facilities were not operational at the time for renovations apparently. Food at the restaurants was alright but nothing great. Staff was very friendly though and made it welcoming. It wasn’t anything unbearable but wouldn’t be my first choice to stay at again.

It was a pretty hotel. But underneath you could see that everything is getting worn. We stayed in 2 rooms because the first smelled oddly musty but the 2nd was better. Both rooms had broken tiles and torn carpets and were wet in the hallways though. We had an ADA room. I did enjoy the pool area and they had a pool lift which worked.

The shower / bathtub was not clean hair was everywhere. The first time the the toilet was used it backed up. The smoke detector went off three nights in a row with no prior warning they were working on the system. Property needed to be refreshed painted, ice machines replaced where they were missing. The pool water was ice cold. There was not enough lawn chairs around the pool. The patio screen door stuck and jammed each time you try to move it.

The room was not clean it seems the carpet was never cleaned. While entering at building 4 smelled like pee and then very strong smell of chlorine to hide that. They have odd timing for slide which was the main reason for booking. I opted for pool and ocean view but unable to use it as people were walking all the time and have no privacy in the room if I keep that open. The area was loud at times as people are shouting at pool even after 10-11 pm at night. I would not return to the place. Also they are not flexible with checkin/out timing which is not very convenient. Only good thing is they are close to airport.

Beautiful location that is right on the beach. Multiple options for food throughout the day in the resort plus there is Uber eats on Kauai. The pools had waterfalls, a water slide and a couple hot tubs. Rooms weren’t as clean as I would have like mainly the bathroom but my towels were refreshed everyday, my bed made, the trash was taken out and the floors were cleaned.

The only good thing about our stay was the bed was comfortable. We had to shove a towel under the door to keep all the noise out. Everytime the air-conditioner kicked on it made 3 loud clicking sounds, waking me up all throughout the night. The hotel emailed me personally and requested specifics about me and my husband as we were there to renew our vows and they wanted to greet us but then when we arrived none od the things they asked us about were given to us and they charged us an extra $100 incase we charged something to the room and that was not part of the no hidden fee expedia claims there is.

The hotel was nice and it had a beautiful pool area. The room itself had issues that were not resolved. The entrance door was rusted and difficult to open. The shower had very poor water pressure and the screen door was broken. All in all it was a fine place to stay but for the price and it being a resort i would have expected more

Unmotivated check-in that made us even avoid the front desk during our stay. The property is past its zenith, lots of stands for parasols around the pool, but where are the parasols? Food at breakfast is low value for the money. Beds are comfy but on three out five days construction work wirh associated noise from 7a.m. Pool staff was very friendly. Housekeeping cleaned the room well, would have been great if we hadn‘t found the door to our room OPEN when we returned to our room. Lots of dirt in the hallways, esp in Building 2, wouldn‘t want to walk there without shoes - so better take shoes down to the pool. All in all, during our 4 island trip through Hawaii, it was the most expensive resort wirh the least value for money.

The pool was great. Our room was outdated and the carpet was wet the whole time. There was also very very limited outlets. The walls are also very thin. The construction above us was very loud and could hear everything. Jessica at the bar was very rude. Other than that it was great. Would love to stay there again but just for the pool. I hope they update the rooms.

Loved how quiet the resort was. The resort was sometimes bad for Ubers since it’s away from all the shops and restaurants . The beach was calm , but the beach may have jellyfish. The buildings are outdated and old. Some of the hallways are missing picture frames, rugs are old and the walls scuffed. The room lacked some lighting.

There were so many pros about our stay and a couple of cons. What a fabulous place! The room was fantastic, the location was perfect, and we had a wonderful and comfortable time there. The television system allowed us to hook up our devices directly to the TV without any difficulty. We used our fire stick in the evenings. Unfortunately, check-in was not great. They don’t allow anybody to check in early unless they pay $100 so everybody showed up at 4 o’clock all at once. We stood in line behind numerous people. Having to wait 45 minutes to check in, is not ideal. There has to be a better way. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. The buffet was $35 a person! We found it much more economical to eat in town. Our room was super comfortable, but we did have a noise that continued for our entire trip. It sounded like an unleveled washing machine or a ceiling fan that was not stable. We learned to drown it out, but it was a bit of an issue. The shower was clean and the water was hot. The water pressure was unsatisfactory. We were really looking forward to getting home and into our shower that has a lot of water pressure.

Loving the newly renovated rooms! They are a huge upgrade to the overall experience. We’ve been going to Kauai Beach Resort for many years as a family and have always loved the convenient location on the island. The pools are great (more lounge chairs would be nice), and the staff was friendly. We loved the live music at the restaurant each night.

OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa treats the Hotels.com and Expedia customers badly compared to those who booked through the OUTRIGGER directly. We booked for an Oceanview room but what we were given was a room overlooking the rooftop of the lower-level hotel rooms and the ocean was visible from far distance. When we asked this is not what the Oceanview, they replied “the Oceanview rooms are booked now” and another person behind the counter said “Well, you booked through the Expedia.” Another mistreatment was that, they did not offer to us the discount coupons for the Concierge entertainments but other guests received these coupons.

I loved how opening and talkative the staff and locals were. While the microaggressions from certain tourists were very prevalent, the staff made it a point to be comforting and welcoming at all times. If it wasn't for other guests, I would have fully enjoyed my time at the resort.

Check in host was not friendly and welcoming at all! We asked for an extra towel card for our daughter and she wouldn't provide us. Staff made us feel like we are inconveniencing them for everything. Our balcony door was broken and would not close properly. We asked for a quieter room and they placed us right next to elevator and ice machine after paying for an upgraded room, will not return.

This is a beautiful property and we enjoyed our 5 night stay, very much. The staff was lovely, which is so important. Amanda at the pool bar was awesome and deserves recognition for being very aware of our parties needs, everyday! Our housekeepers were sweet and one was always singing quietly, which I loved because it reminded me of my mom. The things I thought could be improved would be the mattresses, the price for self parking and price/quality of some of the food we had at the lounge and the restaurant. Our mattress was very uncomfortable and slanted a bit at the top. We had a few good food items but also a few items that were not great and overpriced, specifically the steak and eggs and the fish and chips. The steak was tough and lacked flavor and I asked if the fish and chips were good abd beer battered and was toldby our waiter they were, which they were not. I received a pile of fries with 2 tiny, breaded fish strips that appeared to be store bought and not tasty at all. Not what I was expecting

Reviews hide a lot of the hotels reputation. Firstly, I booked this resort through Expedia as I am a VIP member. Got no VIP room upgrade, as is the norm. Ok, no worries there. Pool area - they close the slide for the kids at 4pm, and the main pool area by 10pm. Meaning if you go on an excursion, by the time you get back the kids have to see a great looking water slide for a few hours before sunset and not get to use it. My youngest son was so disappointed. Next, the beach area. It is so littered with wash up from the ocean, this place did not comb the beach once in the 4 days I stayed there. So no beach enjoyment. We arrived early and had to wait outside in the heat for 4.5 hours. The staff did not expedite cleaning our room so we could at least change into comfortable clothes. Fitness center was crowed and dingy. Expected better for the price.

Outrigger has a business of overselling their rooms and this when we arrived at 10:30Pm they conveniently told us that our reservation was cancelled. The night manager on duty had the worst attitude with 0 inclination to help and look for solutions. We gave them both our ids and showed the hotel reservation confirmation. But they said they can’t find a reservation and the only one they can see is cancelled. I even showed the 4-5 emails that I received from the property and still nothing, we asked them to check both our names and they didn’t bother. The two people in the reception desk were so rude and non helpful. They basically told us they are full and to call hotels.com to go to another property. We did not have good cell reception and the receptionist didn’t want to help by giving wifi access stating it’s for guests with reservations. 3 hrs on the phone with hotels.com didn’t help get a booking for that night so we ended up booking direct with another property (and paying a lot more last minute). We were outside outrigger for a few hours and around 1 am, the hotel manager comes to us with an offer that if we pay direct/cash (2X what we booked before) they can give us a room. Worst thing in all of this is the audacity of outrigger to charge us for the stay the next day and marking us as a no-show. We called the next day and the day agent said yup I see the reservation and it’s marked as you didn’t show. Basically a scammy overselling resort. Stay clear!!

The property was nice. Room was very good. Nice and clean. A/C kept it cool (after a maintenance request). Only real complaint was some of the staff. They were not very friendly and were actually a little rude the first two days we stayed. I would give this place another try.

Resort is close to airport. Was able to get anywhere on island in less than an hour from resort. Would definitely stay here again. I do feel a resort fee and separate parking fee is excessive.

This property is beautiful and so convenient to use as a jumping point around the island. It is also close to Walmart and Costco. The resort is so close to everything including the helicopter tours and airport but has a isolated feel as it is the only resort for miles on the beach

Great location on the island. Midway point between Hanalei and Poipu Beach. Easy access from the airport. Not great if you want to lay out on the beach there is no flat, even beach in front of the hotel.

Really enjoyed my time at this hotel. I was on a solo birthday trip, but they went above and beyond to be sure I was comfortable. Pool area was beautiful and I enjoyed the 7am yoga that the hotel offered. My favorite thing was the pool bar and all the food selections were yummy. Only thing would be parking late at night, the lot gets full so it was hard to find a spot coming back late, but I had such an amazing time and the hotel is located close to many restaurants and conveniently on the beach. Thank you!

Nice hotel overall but some things in the room needed updating or fixing. Very clean and great friendly staff. Pool area needs more lounge chairs maybe some on the grassy part so there are options The breakfast was amazing. We had the Macademia Nut waffles with coconut syrup and Mac Nut Butter. To die for. Don’t forget to capture the beautiful sunset.

The hotel was very understaffed leading to poor quality service, slow service . Amenities being closed when advertised open . The main restaurant isn’t even open all week . The food was subpar . Extremely expensive food that wasn’t good . Waited forever for orders and food . The hotel needs some upgrading at the pool and more of an upbeat atmosphere

when we checked in, we were very surprised to see that the pool area was extremely crowded. People had coolers full of beer beside them and they were very loud. This went on until I tried to go to sleep at 10:30 PM. Also when I checked out, they added on a bill of $40 a day for parking which I had no idea that was going to be the case. at one point we needed more towels and we were told we couldn’t get them. We ordered room service in the evening, but yet we had to go downstairs to pick up the food because there is no such thing as room service. Interestingly enough, we were given a bill that automatically put a tip on it even though we had to get in the elevator go down long hallways to get the food. given the location, we thought the whole experience would be very different, but we were very disappointed. The sheets are scratchy. And the noise from outside was way too loud after 10 PM. We were told we were going to be given an ocean view which I guess it was except the ocean was a little sliver of blue between two large roofs in the buildings in front of us. Also, they misplaced one of our bags in the area where they’re supposed to keep your luggage because check-in is not until four.

The hotel was exactly what we needed and wanted. It was located in a pretty central area to all we wanted to see. The breakfast option was nice in the morning, convenient but pricey. The breakfast buffet was more expensive than ordering individual meals. Great to eat there if you don't have to be somewhere quickly. Otherwise expect a very slow service in the morning.

It was limited dining and service was meh. Had to get a pool towel from valet. No room service available. Staff seemed like they were working short handed, which I understand fully. Housekeeping came by when they felt like it per day. It was kind of a boring resort.

The people the service and the outside and grounds are very nice . Restaurants are pleasant yet only food for breakfast and lunch is truly great the dinner options not so tasty . The rooms are clean but very dated the lobby is very pretty. The staff are friendly only had one issue with a staff but that’s ok. We enjoyed our stay but decided to venture out for most of our dinners to get better options and taste. The grill out by the pool driftwood was great lunch each day. Overall wasn’t bad .

I recently stayed at OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa and would give it 4 stars. The property was very clean, beautiful, and well-maintained. My only real issue was housekeeping. My room was not serviced after my first night, even though the website states rooms are serviced daily. I didn't report it because I returned exhausted after spending the entire day exploring. I enjoyed my stay and found the staff very friendly. However, I personally spend most of my vacations out exploring, so I didn't use the pools, spa, fitness center, or other resort amenities. For my travel style, I'd probably choose a less expensive hotel next time rather than paying additional fees.

This hotel is under renovation so there is construction, cones, plastic tarps visually everywhere. They only had the restaurant open for lunch and dinner (which as a nice restaurant with good service) and the main bar available for lunch and drinks for the middle of the day. There is no outside bar open and the photos where the waterfall is is coned/blocked off. Also you can’t see the beach from the pool it’s covered with bushes so you aren’t getting the beach front experience I was hoping for. We did enjoy the ukulele and lei making classes and the evening music nightly at the bar. It was all fine but I wish I would have known before booking and wish we didn’t pay what we paid for room, taxes, resort fees and parking. I certainly feel like there were other better options on the island for the price point we paid

We stayed in mid May while the hotel was finishing their renovations. Things were maze like as major parts of the hotel weren’t reopened yet. Despite this, the staff were very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and well maintained, and we received house keeping daily. We can’t want to return and enjoy the newly renovated property!

Main four things to know: Despite this Hotels price point expect to get nickel and dimed. Staff will tell you one thing and then just not help you. Better beaches just as close to the airport south of the Hotel. Currently 7/2026 most of the hotel is under construction. Parts look 35 years old and falling apart and parts are brand new, The pool area is missing tiles, faux rock is falling apart. Here is what went down: I was informed at check-in that the amenities that hotels.com said were included were not included. Hotels.com eventually gave me a voucher to cover the amenities the hotel staff was pretty curt about it and acted like I was crazy for expecting anything even after I showed them the receipt clearly showing that I had been lied to. I was told we could shower after check out if we wanted to go swim before our flight...they meant we could rinse off at the public outdoor pools. I told them we have 9 hours of flights and they said we could shower. They gave me soup and told me to go outside. Staff told us Hotels.com price did not include about $50 in fees at checkout. We booked this place because it was close to the airport, We had stayed the rest of the trip at Poi'pu further south. It is close-ish, its about 7 mins away,, but no shuttle, The Uber is between $20-$40 which is about the same for anywhere on the east to south east of the Island. There is a great beach South of the airport called Kalapaki, anything over there would be better.

The rooms themselves were nice and roomy. Effective air conditioning and small bar fridge where appreciated. There was only one microwave for heating food on the third floor and an ice machine on the first floor. Self-parking was $30 per night, which I thought was fairly expensive considering it's in US dollars. Nice pools and a couple of hot tubs which were quite warm. As per many resorts felt that the food was somewhat overpriced and found it better to either bring food in from outside or reheat meals. There is a small Starbucks style shop in the gift shop as well as drinks and ice creams that can be purchased from here as well.
