Banyan Harbor Resort

Banyan Harbor Resort is an old property and has not been kept up. If you have difficulty going up and down 18 steps outside - open to the elements - do not consider this property. And those steps were to get to the first floor rooms. There is not an elevator . And if you had a room on the 2-4th floor- plan on a marathon of outdoor steps. the room we had separate window air conditioners in each room that were very noisy and dirty. Blowing dirty air- as shown by the dirty , dusty curtains above each unit. Plus the motors vibrated the windows. The bathrooms were very dated and one of the toilets was tipsy. The shower head was coming out of the wall and the shower handles were full of black mold. Maybe a fresh coat of paint might have helped covering up the rust. We had a reservation for a king with 1 bathroom and all they had was a two bedroom 2 bath with full size beds. My husband and I were on a romantic vacation and sleeping separately was not in our plans. (TMI) Overall cleanliness was not good and I kept expecting to see bugs but I did not. Linens and towels were old and the pillows were very uncomfortable square shaped and flimsy. Thank goodness we were only spending one night because the property is located near the Lihue airport. We would not recommend staying at this property. Yes, it was convenient to have a kitchen with refrigerator . We had asked if there was shuttle service to the airport and they had told us yes- but that was not true. Plan to Uber.

The room we had was out by the main road, very noisy. It was upstairs so we had to haul our luggage up, we are retired and my husband isn’t in the best health. There was only a bamboo couch to sit on in the living room. One of the counter stools was broken. The bed is a queen but felt smaller. The dryer wouldn’t shut off on its own. We used the pool the first day and noticed it was in rough shape, they closed it as we were getting out and said it might reopen in 5 weeks.

A/C was limited to 6 hours per day and the A/C in the master bed room was on a 1 hour timer. Location was great and condo layout was excellent.

This resort is stuck in the 80s with no apparent updates since then. The fans were super dusty and dilapidated. The AC on the first floor where the kitchen and living room is only work for 15 minutes and then cut out and would not turn back on. The stairs around the entryway we're very poorly lit and are very serious tripping hazard.
