The Kauai Inn was such a pleasant surprise! The accommodations are nice but the greatest experience was the staff. Upon checking in, we were offered pizza that was ordered for the staff. The receptionist then offered us a bottle of wine to be delivered to our room! I cannot exaggerate the hospitality that was shown by the entire staff at the hotel. They provided live music on Friday night and a movie on Saturday. They also provide music on the grounds, so when you're having continental breakfast (provided) or lounging at the pool, you can hear soothing Hawaiian music. This is a hotel we will go back to because of the staff. Such a nice and friendly team!

Lovely property! The bridge to get here is closed indefinitely, so you have to drive around, but it was still lovely! There are peacocks and chickens. They let us use chairs and floaties to go to the beach. Breakfast was ok: good fruit, great muffins, yogurt/cereal. not hot choice, but it was FREE!

We stayed here during our trip to Kauai. It’s an older hotel but loved the setting. The breakfast was a nice bonus along w the birds. Owner was always there tending to the property. Pool was clean. We loved the ability to borrow items to use at the beach. We would stay here again. Music was by the pool a few evenings: )

This place is a little older but character cannot be beat. It actually sleeps 5 (twin bed in a room with 2 doubles) when it says it does. The bathroom is big. The staff is amazing! There is guest laundry, a pool, a 24 hour coffee bar, easy and free parking. They provided us with a cork screw and wine glasses for our wine and a towel for our tubing adventure. Can’t say enough about this place! Central location on the island. We would definitely stay here again!

We have stayed at the Kauai Inn three or four times over the years. The staff are friendly. The morning oatmeal and bagels / social hour(s) is a good way to start a day. And the room full of complimentary beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogey boards and coolers to borrow (just bring'm back) is super great.

The property was very peaceful. I happened to stay during 'movie night', meaning that they showed an outdoor movie on the lawn (50 First Dates). Easy continental breakfast with coffee and tea options. Very comfortable room. Amazing and genuine staff. I'll go here again on my next visit for sure.

Ot is an old inn. If they kept up with repairs it would be a very nice place to stay. Jalousie window locks were broken so didn’t feel safe. AC very loud, hard to hear tv and kept me up most of the night. People are nice though. Microwave and house phone not working. Hope they fix their units.

The day one was roaches running on the floor sunflower shells on the floor the bed sheets were clean still left a bad taste we went and bought our own sheets. Second day and after we had ants and small roaches running the bathroom and sleeping area so we went to the front and made a complain which they said some one will come in next morning. No one showed up we still had the same insect problem, they never vacuumed the rooms nor taken the garbage out not even restocked the shampoos last day was another disaster with them overall the island is a gorgeous place to visit but I wouldn’t recommend not even to my worst enemy

We enjoyed our stay at the Kuaui Inn. The staff was wonderful, made us feel right at home. Property grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was Very nice each morning. I would have given this property 5 stars except the room is in need of updating and the cleaning could have been better.. The bathtub had a red strip of tape or something that looked like it had been removed the tub floor was black. The sink was gold plated and it looked dirty but it was just old. They’re brochure Said they freshen up every day and deep clean every three days. The housekeeper did knock and ask if we want our sheets changed which we accepted but they didnt sweep the floors or vacuum or mop. We usually pick up after ourselves everyday but we stayed a week and had to ask for clean towels several times because they didn’t come in to freshen up. This could be such a cute property but they need to update the bathroom areas and improve their housekeeping services.

The staff were helpful and friendly. It is possible to use their umbrella, beach chairs, towels and flip flops. The breakfast was ordinary. Wish they had some eggs or protein options. The bed was comfortable but the the room had a loud air conditioner. It is an old hotel that was not upgraded . Housekeeping was not consistent they skipped some days. The property is in a odd location. Pretty area but out on its own. Only stayed one night so it worked as a place to stay but the property is not in good repair, Our bathroom did not flush well and the hot water was not very good, behind our room was a smallhouse next to the property that were intoxicated and yelling at each other for about an hour in the middle of the night. Check in lady was friendly. Wouldn't stay there again, there are so many other hotel choices with nice water views to choose.

Amy at the front desk was outstanding! Courteous, friendly, welcoming. Continental breakfast was great...loved the peacocks lurking around trying to steal food! :) I have to be honest...the rooms are getting a little worn (furniture, bathroom, etc.) But it was very clean and the whole experience overall was positive. Undecided if we will stay there again.

I feel like this is a fairly typical motel billed as a hotel like many of the non-resort/non-condos are here so there was the usual noise from roosters and mildew in the bathroom. That said I will come back to this property over others due to the 24-hour help desk, awesome staff, free parking and breakfast, and very clean fluffy towels and linens. AC & wifi also worked great and it felt more private than other similar properties. Parking was tight but that’s also just a thing here. The bridge was also out which made the commute unnecessarily inconvenient but that’s not the property’s fault! Overall would rather pay the $200 here than Kauai Shores, Waimea Inn, or the Aston outrigger (the other places I have stayed on Kauai).

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Kauai Inn. I arrived late from the airport, but the friendly staff greeted me with a lei and a smile. The surroundings were beautiful and the room was comfortable. The hotel isn't new, a little worn here and there, but I was glad I stayed there. The 24/7 tea and coffee bar was nice, as well as fresh fruit for breakfast. There were several families with young kids, so a lot of noise and chatter in the mornings, but when you're already awake from roosters, it's not so bad. The roosters do crow often and early in the morning, but that's common throughout the island, nothing specific to The Kauai Inn.

This is an older establishment but maintained well. It is close to the Lihue airport so convenient. Staff are hospitable and friendly. The views of the mountains from the property are wonderful. Bed & room were very comfortable and spacious for 2 people. The in-unit AC cooled the room nicely. Bathtub cold be recoated but worked fine. Linens smelled good. The breakfast buffet is a very good continental one- complete with Chobani yogurt, croissants, & whole pieces of local fruits. Peacocks, roosters, & cats roam around the property, which was fun :) Very comfortable stay!

The staff was super helpful and very friendly. They let us in hours early cleaning the room as soon as someone left. We had been stranded overnight in the airport and hadn’t slept and they let us in not earlier than our check in time and that was really appreciated. They also offered us breakfast when we showed up and let us Lounge around the pool, trying to catch some snoozes, really helpful and greatly appreciated.
The staff was super helpful and very friendly. They let us in hours early cleaning the room as soon as someone left. We had been stranded overnight in the airport and hadn’t slept and they let us in not earlier than our check in time and that was really appreciated. They also offered us breakfast when we showed up and let us Lounge around the pool, trying to catch some snoozes, really helpful and greatly appreciated.

The team at Kauai Inn was very accommodating, which I appreciated. I had to hang out for a few hours on the grounds between getting picked up, and later going to the airport, and they were wonderful about me staying on the grounds, using the pool, etc. The room was very comfortable. I would recommend having a car if you stay here, as there's not a lot within easy walking distance.

This isn't a fancy hotel, but it's very comfortable and charming. Phillip, the owner, and all of the staff, were very welcoming and helpful. Our room and bed were very comfortable. The Continental breakfast was great. We enjoyed the live music by the pool in the evenings, and the resident peacocks and cats that wander around the property. We'd go back!

I very much appreciated the single night booking, when many others needed 2 or 3 night minimums. The included breakfast was a nice plus. All was well with the room. We'll be back on our next trip to Kauai, which will no doubt be longer.

We stayed here for about 4 days in early June of 2024, all I can really say is that this was probably one of the friendliest hotels I've ever stayed at in my life. The staff and owner truly do go above and beyond to help make your stay as comfortable as possible and you really leave there thinking you have made a couple friends along the way. While the hotel is a little dated, (you need to use a physical key to open the door, window units in the room for AC, etc...) it's absolutely not a dealbreaker as it definitely gives off an 'old school' vibe of a hotel and keep it looking immaculate. They brought back their luau which was an amazing time, and it's only about 10 minutes from downtown and the airport. Again, we had a great time and I definitely recommend there if you're looking for a hidden gem of the island.

The place is cool retro but is close to a container facility and the backup alarms go all day. Also the prevailing winds blow the diesel fumes to the property. The cruise lines come and go and cause congestion in the area. Staff is friendly and made us feel welcome.

The property is secluded down in the mountains and there is so many chickens and cats running around. It feels very local in comparison to a place like Princeville. There are great spots to eat tucked away and 5 minutes from Target and Costco and about 10 from a great Luau

Beautiful area away from the hustle and bustle of Lihue. Very friendly and accommodating. This is not a 5 star hotel that you are going to pay 400-500 a night but instead it is a beautiful area, clean and comfortable. Upon our arrival we were given beads which was a nice surprise. Continental breakfast was very nice and coffee was great. The hospitality was wonderful.

Out in the boondocks! I chose it in order to be close to the airport for an early flight out the next day after staying at a luxury resort for the week prior. Turned out the direct route to the airport was under road closure (not the Kauai inn’s fault) so we actually needed to adjust our timing in order to make our flight. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and gracious.

Great for those wanting to see the island, not stay in a fancy resort and do nothing. Perfectly adequate lodging. Nothing fancy but the staff obviously work hard to make it special and enjoyable. It’s kinda like staying in a bed and breakfast. Older facilities, but clean and comfortable. Check in was super easy and friendly. Check out the same. I stayed at the Kauai Inn for 4 nights and enjoyed every single night I was there! It has a very unique feel to it and had lots of night time activities. You can tell that all of the workers really care about the place and want to ensure you enjoy your stay. Overall, it’s a great way to relax and have a fun time by yourself of with family! There are a few things to note: the breakfast is a true “grab and go” style that features muffins, croissants, bagels, toast, yogurt, cereal, various fruit (cut it yourself), juice, milk, tea, and coffee, the pool is only 3 feet all around, there are a lot of animal noises (earplugs are provided), no ventilation fan in the bathroom (just a window), and the rooms have a vintage feel to them. I don’t think these things should deter you from staying here, but think it would be helpful to know these beforehand.

Room service did not occur. We asked for towels to be replaced after the second night. It never happened. We had to go get clean towels ourselves. The site brochure said a thorough clean on the third day — this did not happen either. Breakfast was disappointing — essentially Twinkies, Hostess cupcakes, cereal bars, and instant oatmeal. No fresh bread or other fresh baked goods. On the good side — staff were very pleasant, and the common eating area encourages meeting other guests. The property is definitely dated (part of its charm), but this was no problem for us.
