Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Manchester - Newly Renovated

2nd time staying over the year… Pillow are great (usually I struggle with that while traveling)

Breakfast was about normal, for a "continental" breakfast. But they only had hard boiled eggs, no scrambled eggs, or any kind of eggs in a warming tray, as is normal.

I thought the place was excellent but did not check the sheets. This morning flipped the sheets back and there was dried blood on the sheets!!!! Not mine at all. Almost made me vomit.

The property, room, etc, was clean but but I advise travelers to avoid this hotel. About a year and a half ago I stayed here and they charged my card a $100 damage deposit at check in that they said would be refunded when the cleaning crew verified there was no damage after I left. It took 3 weeks and multiple calls to get my deposit returned. Each time the staff just said "be patient, it takes 3-5 days for it to show on your card". 3-5 days is a far cry from 3 weeks. Well this time I had forgotten about that experience and stayed here again and again they charged my card $100 damage deposit that has yet to be returned. I called a few days ago and just like my previous stay I was told that it had already been refunded but would take 3-5 days to show up on my card. It's been 9 days since my stay with nothing. I don't know if they are just hoping people won't notice the extra charge, if they are just incompetent, or what but this is ridiculous.

Very clean rooms and lobby. Comfortable beds! Staff all very friendly. Nicely updated. The only criticism I will offer is that whatever they use to clean/deodorize the place, the smell is overpowering. I like a fresh, clean smell, but this smelled like someone dumped a whole container of carpet freshener everywhere. I’m hypersensitive to smell, and I had to take an allergy pill to be able to breathe. If that wasn’t an issue, our stay would have been perfect.
