Motel 6-Portsmouth, NH

Pool was out of service, my grandson was very disappointed

We went to do laundry and both dryers were out of service. We asked maintenance if we can use their dryer downstairs and he told us to ask the front desk after our clothes were washed in the public washer. My boyfriend went and asked the person at the front desk if we could use their dryer once our clothes were washed because both of their dryers were broken and she said no..we need to go to the laundry mat. That was after I had already been down there and asked for $5.00 in change to use their washer and dryer. We were woken up at 7:30 by alarms going off because they were fixing something in the hallway. Our room was on the 4th floor and we had to carry our luggage down 7-8 flights of stairs the morning that we checked out because they shut the elevator down because of safety reasons. When we asked the girl at the front desk when the elevator would be working again she said that she didn't know and that we would have to use the stairs. They only serve coffee in the morning and it's not good at all. I will not be staying there again. I will pay more $ for breakfast, laundry and better service. One of the reasons for why I booked the room was because of the public laundry service knowing that I would be staying there for over a week to spend Christmas with family

Does not look like any of the pictures. The room was extremely small. It was not as clean as it should have been. They advertise a pool, but no pool was open or had been used in forever, it looked like. I purposely booked due to the pool. The ice machine did not work. had to leave to purchase ice. stayed one night to pick up someone at the airport and will never stay again. Reviews said clean...it was not clean. I could not get into another hotel, so I had no choice but to stay. Beware!!

Basic, very basic. Seems like a place where there are long term renters. Noticed guests setting up chairs in the parking lot near their car and smoking. Coffee offered in lobby only. This was the most reasonably priced hotel in Portsmouth for my overnight visit.

Safe parking

Motel 6 can sometimes be a crapshoot across the country but this one is a jewel. Right off the highway and the property is meticulously cared for. One small disadvantages is that the pool is not operational. Other than that we give it a big thumbs up!

No apparent area for pets. Parking lot has a road running through it so cars may be coming through fast. Room clean, staff efficient.

Roaches, no shower curtain, outdated look. I dont see this as a staff issue, they were nice and it did seem like they clean it much as possible. However, the hotel needs repairs and to be fumigated for the roaches. Maybe there are long term tenants that bring them in? Location is not bad and its very easy to commute to the beach, but I would never stay here again. My AC did work just fine in the room, if anything it got too cold but no complaints there. Pool is not open late July and probably wont be under current ownership/management

Room was dirty. I doubt the sheets were even clean tub was definitely not clean. I will never stay here again.

The front desk was very friendly and understanding. The room however was very dirty. Walls were stained with whatever it is splatter and the room was damp. Even our bed sheets felt wet. The elevator reeked of pee so we took the stairs and that was worse. Smelled of vomit. Very dirty hotel.

We booked this hotel many months ago for the Thunder Over New Hampshire airshow. I booked 2 rooms. One room smelled of cigarette smoke really badly, and the hallways also had a reminder of a nursing home smell. The other room only had sheets on the beds with no blankets. I believe there are a lot of extended stay guests that call Motel 6 home, based off of what I saw when other motel guest were entering their rooms. They looked like they lived there and were often seen smoking outside (thankfully) but the odor just traveled with them inside. I would not recommend this hotel and suggest staying somewhere else. It didn’t help that the weather was terrible for the airshow and everything got soaked. I did enjoy a hot shower after the storm, lol. The staff was friendly at checkin.

Didn’t like anything it was filthy noisy smell like dogs no pool as listed plus no breakfast worst place I’ve ever stayed

The bathroom was disgusting! I have photos, the tiles were full of mildew, the inside of the toilet stained and constantly running. The bathroom fixtures were as outdated and dingy as my old high school locker room. We wouldn't even shower in there because I refused to take my shoes off in that place. Both front desk staff members were so dry, never a smile or a single word other than the few required to book. The parking lot had litter everywhere and the 20 square feet of lawn was all burned out. I would never stay here again. I don't have extremely high standards, but a clean facility is a priority for me and this hotel did not deliver that.

It was disgusting, the smell when you first walk in is so bad it makes you sick, but it gets worse when you get to the room. I had BLOOD stains on the floor of my room, PILES of hair everywhere, stains all over the sheets it was so disgusting. Definitely not worth the money at all.

The room smelled like smoke, the walls look like something was splashed on them, the smoke detector was hanging out of the ceiling. It was supposed to be a smoke free property and it smelled like cigarette smoke and marijuana 100% of the time.

Whole place was dirty and smelled like cigarettes. Dog barking all night long down the hall, staff did nothing about it. Bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly at all. Literally just walking around barefoot in my room my feet were black with dirt within an hour. Room was small and the heat didn’t work properly. All around not worth staying at when there are other hotels in the same price range in the area

The bathroom door didn’t shut, there is no fan in the bathroom. The TV is so old that I had to buy a Roku to be able to watch anything besides cable.

Our a/c did not work, but it was nice enough to have the window open, so we didnt complain. Water pressure wasn't great...shower took twice as long though. And toilet clogged after first number 2, so we had maintenance there. They did arrive within 20 minutes. So no complaints with that. Neighbors were noisy, but that is hotel life. We enjoyed the area, but would not go out at night!

Very low pressure shower & sink and bathroom door handle fell off. Mattress felt like it was 20 yrs old I slept in a giant crater

Doors were slamming all night long. Very noisy place. It’s hard to believe humans can be so noisy in a place full of guests trying to sleep. Bed was very uncomfortable and creaked every time you moved. Would not stay there again.

Great location! Price and value was good for my budget. Staff was all really nice. Our room’s air conditioner wasn’t working they were able to switch room and got one that works better. Property might need sum upgrade, rooms are clean but older and lack charging plugs…but for the price and not a lot of expectation for our last minute trip, it worked out great and the fact our dog get to stay free was a bonus! Will stay again tho, just hope they can upgrade their rooms.

Bed was terribly uncomfortable but otherwise a decent room

No liner on shower curtain, toilet barely flushed, pillows were not real supportive.

Very clean Anne safe feeling. Loved the desk that had an overhang for someone to eat and use it as a 2 person dining area. Beds too firm but don’t sink.

This stay started off and ended well with front desk staff. The person who checked us in was lovely and was quick to help when we couldn't get into our room because the door was stuck so tightly neither my husband nor I could open it. The same was true for the bathroom door which couldn't be fully closed. I am not a fan of toilet seats without lids. The bath tub was slipper and no rubber mat provided. The room lacked insulation and the elephant in the room above us tramped around all night. The AC temp couldn't be adjusted. There were no USB ports -- a now standard feature in other hotels. We will not repeat this visit.

Staff was great and very helpful and patient . We had an issue with heater not working properly when we arrived and they helped us to another room immediately

Hostess was pretty rude told me we had no reservation but later found it was interrupted bye another customer who was given a room and someone was already in it. The room was in poor shape ants on the floor none of the doors to the building were locked anyone could’ve walked in didn’t even stay the last night had enough won’t stay again.

Going to a family wake. Arrives early because I was not sure of traffic from Massachusetts. Explained that I was early hoping I could check in. Was told no! Come back in an hour or two. Asked if there was a rest room I could use and was told no! Go across the street! Next morning at 6am was awoke by employees arguing in the hall! Got up, got dressed and checked out!!!!!

Staff was excellent. Friendly, informative, very easy check in.

When we checked in the front desk worker spoke little to no english. We get up to our room and get settled for the night to then receive a call from the front desk in broken english asking if we had got checked in ok, when she was the one who checked us on. 5 minutes later there was knocking on our door as we were trying to sleep, the front desk had given a new couple our room number and key cards to it after she checked us in. The young couple went back to the lobby after they realized the front desk over booked the room. 5 minutes after this we receive yet another phone call from the front desk in broke english asking who we were and what room we were in. This was hands down the most unprofessional and worst service we have ever seen, and yes we did not expect much from a motel 6 but this somehow was worse than what our expectations were.

Had an issue with my room television, but it was promptly resolved by the front desk. Otherwise, check-in/out was fast and easy, the room was clean, and there was no problems. Overall, very good for a quick stop-over.

My stays here have always been good except for the last few nights. Had problems with other guests and the way the evening shift staff handled it very unprofessional. Rolled their eyes with a bad attitude and didn't resolve the situation appropriately. Guests time at any hotel should be pleasant and accommodating. I shouldn't be the one to move rooms because someone else really doesn't want to deal with the situation. Other than that the other staff is always professional and pleasant!

The woman at check in, who seems to be there most often, is so rude. Every interaction. 2nd time staying there and same. Other desk staff seem great. Cleaning (man) was around for FOUR hours one day to clean TWO rooms. Whole time loudly talking/yelling on his phone. He was in and out of yhe room later that night too, kind of creepy.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay. Lin at the front desk was very helpful checking us in and answering all of our questions about the hotel's amenities. The room was spotless, and the bed comfortable. The pillows were very hard, tho. We would stay again and request additional pillows :}

Near turnpike off ramp. Reasonably priced. Awkward access from downtown due to one-way Gosling Rd.

Right across from the road from a bunch of shops, but a fair distance away from the downtown area.

We stay at this location a few times a year. The staff is always great. The location and ease of acess is amazing. 10 min to to Kittery and 20 min to york beach.

The property very close to airport and is pet friendly

Was in town for the night and this was very convenient and close to everything.

Right off 95 and convenient to nearby shops and restaurants. Only complaint was the smell of smoke in a "smokeless" motel.

This hotel is very conveniently located to the Interstate and has plenty of shopping and eating options right across the road. It is a pet friendly hotel, which is great for people traveling with their fur babies, however when you step in the lobby area and elevator there is a very strong pet odor. Our room was clean enough and did not smell.

It was the Perfect place to stay for an overnight near the Portsmouth Airport to fly out the next morning! It was clean, updated, had coffee in the lobby, we had a first floor room near the lobby as my hubby is handicapped and convenient parking as well!

Well this came up as the cheapest option for our day stay to visit Portsmouth New Hampshire. Still overpriced. Advertised a pool which we were hoping to take a dip in but then the clerk says the pool is not operating. Room itself was OK and clean.beds so so. Threadbare towels.They don’t provide Shampoo which you can pay for at the front desk which is really ridiculous.coffee In the morning with that awful powdered cream. Corridors and elevator reak of smoke, and there is a no smoking sign!

Hotel rooms were nice & clean. Check-in / Check-out was super simple. Coffee & tea offered in lobby in the am. Suggestion: maybe some simple options for breakfast.
