The hotel locates in the main stree, only a few minutes walking from the train station. It was newly renovated with a very Zermatt style. The associated restaurant provides great food in very reasonable prices. The price of hotel is also respectable especially in this area.

Right in the middle of the village so everything was within walking distance including from the train station itself. I sent a few queries through via whats app such as do they serve dinner there and do i need to bk and i was promptly answered. Upon checkin kristiane couldnt have been more helpful. She had already bked us a table for dinner at the time i requested and then went through the different tourist options such as gornergrat and sunnega which we ended up doing both and her recommendations were perfect. The rooms were lovely and clean and had little balcony overlooking the main street which although bustling with activity couldnt be heard from the rooms. The beds were comfy and the bathroom had everything you needed such as magnifying mirror, shampoo, conditioner and hairdryer. The view from the bathroom window was superb also. The breakfast was perfect with a large buffet to choose from with all the favourites available. I highly recommend this hotel and especially commend kristiane on her excellent welcoming hospitality.

There was a view of the Matterhorn which was spectacular. Enjoyed the restaurant on the premises, food was delicious. Was within walking distance from train station which was a plus. Accommodations were great. Wish we had more time in Switzerland to explore more.

We chose the Hotel Derby because it had received good reviews and it was in close proximity to the Zermatt railway station. As it turned out it was very cosy in a cabin style. We liked it a lot. Super hot bath. We ate there in the evening and received a 15% discount as a resident. We only had time for a quick breakfast in the morning but it was fine. My only criticism was with the pillow which I found to be too soft, but that is just a matter of preference.

This is a fabulous place to stay! The front desk staff had a great sense of humor & explained everything very well. The ‘family’ room for 3 was very clean, comfortable, and looked new! Small balcony was a treat. A bottle of water provided was a nice touch. The restaurant food was delicious & the wait staff was nice. Although the hostess reprimanded me for not telling her we were hotel guests (in order to get the discount on our meal) but I had already told that to the person I saw first, which was our waiter. We appreciated the discount as the meal prices aren’t cheap. The morning breakfast was excellent! A great variety of food, nutritious & delicious. So different from many hotel breakfasts in the USA. It was a short walk to the train station. Overall I would highly recommend the Hotel Derby!

Very nice remodeled hotel in a perfect location. The room was clean and quiet with the windows closed. Darling patio. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. This is an easy walk to the train station. I would highly recommend this place. The only downside was the restaurant. The waitress was very rude which surprised me. She doesn't care about her job at all. It was my worst experience in Switzerland. The breakfast was awful.

Wir hatten ein frisch renoviertes Zimmer mit nettem Blick, es war insgesamt ruhig im Hotel. Das Bad war toll, die Betten bequem, alles sehr sauber. Eine Flasche Wasser war auch da. Den Fernseher konnte man mit dem Smartphone verbinden. Die Rezeptionistin war super nett und alles war schon vorbereitet. Insgesamt so wie ich mir einen Hotelaufenthalt wünsche. Wir waren zu zu dritt als Freunde unterwegs und hatten ein Zimmer mit Doppelbett und Kajütbett, welches auch für einen Erwachsenen gut nutzbar ist. Einziger Kritikpunkt: Das Frühstück war sehr einfach.

We enjoyed our stay at The Derby. It was centrally located and close to the train station. Check in was easy and the host was friendly and very accommodating. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was offered with the room, which is always nice to have! We would definitely stay there again!

Hotel Derby was a very comfortable stay. The Good: - The staff was very accommodating and friendly - The room and facilities were very clean - Middle of shopping district in Zermat. Very busy and walkable environment. The Bad: - The room was fairly hot in the night time even with the heat off. We needed to open the window overnight which caused lot of noise in the late night and morning due to the location. - Water temperature was not very hot for shower - The mountain view is not a view of Matterhorn, rather some shorter mountains in the area. Barely viewable on the second highest floor balcony. - Breakfast was included but did not have too much options and had mediocre taste even compared to some cheaper stays in Swiss

Very nice hotel. I lucked out and got a room with a balcony. Room and facilities were well thought out to accommodate a ski vacation. Room was very clean and housekeeping was excellent. Price was on the low end for Zermatt so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I would stay here again and would recommend it to a single or couple travelling for a ski vacation.

Great spot, beautiful room. Got the luck of the draw and got the top floor with a balcony with a view. On the main street, easily walkable from train station and everything else in town. Bed was super comfortable.

This hotel is modern and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable and the room was spacious. We felt very safe here and the breakfast was excellent. It was close to shopping, pharmacy, and restaurants. We would stay here again!

Stayed at Derby hotel for one night, No air conditioning so you have to keep the windows open, since they don’t have screens, you are just inviting mosquitoes and bugs in! On top of that you hear people on the street well passed the midnight.

Super close to the train station, hardly a two minute walk so if you have luggage this is very convenient. The room itself was excellent, newly renovated so very modern new finishes. Clearly though it is meant for winter/ski season. There’s no AC, it was hot but thankfully I could open the window which helped. But if you are light sleeper and sensitive to sounds then this might not be your best option as there is in the heart of the town so lots of people walking around/talking dinning till quite late at night. One thing that annoyed me a lot was they didn’t accept credit card for the property fees which was around 4 chf, and I didn’t have cash on me so I was forced to eat dinner at their restaurant so they could add the property fee charge to my dining bill and pay it that way. The dinner wasn’t good at all. But breakfast was AMAZING, definitely try their pain is chocolat, the best I’ve had. All in all I’d rate it a 3.5-4

Very quaint hotel in an extremely central location. Only a few minutes walk from the railway station and situated on the main street in Zermatt. The rooms were spacious and appeared to be recently modernised. The rest of the hotel however, looks a little bit dated.

Room Newly furnished. Clean and tidy. USB at bedside. Bathroom and shower bath excellent. However the mattress and pillow are rather flaccid. As the hotel is located at the Main Street, Rooms facing the Main Street are noisy. You must closed the doors of the balcony at night to keep away the noise. Train stations to Tasch and Gornergrat are within few minutes walking. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Terrific location, couple of blocks from the train station. This is an older hotel, lobby is clearly quite old. But the upper floors have be all redone. The rooms are very modern and just beautiful. Five stars all the way.

Receptionist was unprofessional, Paid a city Tax at checkin but she didn’t update the system, furthermore she was dexterous, crafty as gave me an out of use bill ( money note). Whole night stayed without a heating on. It was very warm when we arrived, midnight was really cold. I shouldn’t give any stars at all

Right in the middle of the village so everything was within walking distance including from the train station itself. I sent a few queries through via whats app such as do they serve dinner there and do i need to bk and i was promptly answered. Upon checkin kristiane couldnt have been more helpful. She had already bked us a table for dinner at the time i requested and then went through the different tourist options such as gornergrat and sunnega which we ended up doing both and her recommendations were perfect. The rooms were lovely and clean and had little balcony overlooking the main street which although bustling with activity couldnt be heard from the rooms. The beds were comfy and the bathroom had everything you needed such as magnifying mirror, shampoo, conditioner and hairdryer. The view from the bathroom window was superb also. The breakfast was perfect with a large buffet to choose from with all the favourites available. I highly recommend this hotel and especially commend kristiane on her excellent welcoming hospitality.

We chose the Hotel Derby because it had received good reviews and it was in close proximity to the Zermatt railway station. As it turned out it was very cosy in a cabin style. We liked it a lot. Super hot bath. We ate there in the evening and received a 15% discount as a resident. We only had time for a quick breakfast in the morning but it was fine. My only criticism was with the pillow which I found to be too soft, but that is just a matter of preference.

This is a fabulous place to stay! The front desk staff had a great sense of humor & explained everything very well. The ‘family’ room for 3 was very clean, comfortable, and looked new! Small balcony was a treat. A bottle of water provided was a nice touch. The restaurant food was delicious & the wait staff was nice. Although the hostess reprimanded me for not telling her we were hotel guests (in order to get the discount on our meal) but I had already told that to the person I saw first, which was our waiter. We appreciated the discount as the meal prices aren’t cheap. The morning breakfast was excellent! A great variety of food, nutritious & delicious. So different from many hotel breakfasts in the USA. It was a short walk to the train station. Overall I would highly recommend the Hotel Derby!

Very nice remodeled hotel in a perfect location. The room was clean and quiet with the windows closed. Darling patio. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. This is an easy walk to the train station. I would highly recommend this place. The only downside was the restaurant. The waitress was very rude which surprised me. She doesn't care about her job at all. It was my worst experience in Switzerland. The breakfast was awful.
