Check in/out was easy and the staff very friendly and responsive. Room is very spacious and clean. The hotel is at a great location , walking distance from nice restaurants and stores. Everything was great, the only thing it could be update is the cookware/ pans, other than that we loved it and we’ll definitely come back.

Visited this past week. From the get go, the management company was very communicative and reached out to me several times. I was traveling with my dog they were super responsive with all the questions that I had (and for $20 the whole stay for my dog, amazing). Check in was a breeze since the management company emailed and texted me all the instructions. The unit itself was spacious with a full service kitchen (yes, fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, etc.), a separate bedroom and a roomy living room. The place is less than a 10 minute walk to Big Bear Lake and just steps from the main strip with all the restaurants, shops, movie theater, and bars. Eventhough the unit was so close to all the action, it was nice and quiet. Will definitely stay again.

It’s quite reasonably priced, the rooms are large, it has full kitchen, the rooms are kept spotlessly clean, there are a lot of thoughtful touches, its rules are reasonable and assume that you are an intelligent adult, it has a very accommodating dog policy, there are no hidden fees, and it’s right at ground zero for walking to restaurants and shops. If you are a couple who like to be able to stretch out with a separate bedroom or a small family that wants to save by cooking a few meals, this is the place for you. Just a couple of things: (1) There is on-property space for only a single vehicle, and that parking can get a little tight (there is free public parking about 100 meters); (2) Unless you have a ground units, you’ll be walking up a flight of stairs; (3) Bring some basic spices & oil\butter; (4) This isn’t a cute cabin tucked away in a forest; it’s an old school in-town motel that was probably a small apartment building on a very popular street; (5) The heater is strong and efficient but during August you’ll need that big fan they give you; (6) If you are a delicate sleeper, you’ll need to use that fan to create some white noise, and (7) There is no daily housekeeping, though the office is right downstairs for swapping out towels & linens (the cleaning crew that comes in after you depart do a great job, so tip generously). We’d come back here in a heartbeat. Wonderful place to use for a base for skiing or other exploration in this area! Nick in Palm Springs

Great place if you want to take advantage of being right in The Village. You can walk out of the building and grab a gelato from the downstairs gelato and tea store right in the building. We ate at the surrounding restaurants, ate gelato and frozen yogurt, checked out the stores and watched a movie at the Village Cinemas. The Village Inn is dated but very clean and everything worked fine including the wifi. Had a full kitchen with full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, range, plates, silverware, pots/pans, etc. which we didn't use as we ate out. No central a/c but they have a portable inside if you need it. Portable a/c's are loud so cool down your room before you go to sleep or do what I do when traveling which is bring some earplugs. This isn't a "front desk" type of lodging unit but communication is excellent and timely. I received all of the information I needed via text and email. Room access is via a code that they provide when you text a copy of your ID the day of. When you check out, you just drop them a text. Convenient parking in the back of the building parking lot.

Small clean, cozy facility. Amazing time in Big Bear, and this place made it over the top. Small kitchen and living room with everything you need to cook, watch TV by the fireplace or people watch from the window overlooking Big Bear Village. Lots of shops and restaurants adjacent.

The unit was surprisingly spacious. It was a one bedroom, one bath with the sink area separated from the tub/toilet which is nice. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes, pots, pans, etc. There was a full size kitchen with stove, oven and fridge. No dishwasher. The living room was huge with a sofa and a trundle bed that sleeps two. The dining table is perfect for 4. I suppose one could also use the kitchen counter to eat but there were no seats provided. I would have no hesitation cooking in that kitchen but there were plenty of dining options nearby. The location cannot be beat in the heart of the Village and parking just behind the building. I stayed on a Thursday night. The village was happening but the room was not noisy. I'm not sure whether it would be noisy on a Friday or Saturday night. The hosts had very good communication, and I would definitely stay there again.

Carpet was wet all day and nite . Was not offered a new room. I was forced to stay and wear shoes though out my stay . Staff did not accommodate for inconvenience stating “you used room” and you pay for stay . Not able to peak to someone in person or phone . All communication was by email. Staff could care less !

This is our second visit, we have stayed in two different rooms upstairs next to each other. It was so warm when we arrived, the fireplace was on the lights were on to welcome us. The linens were crisp, fluffy pillows and comfy comforters. Impeccably clean. The fridge, the freezer. The stove. The bathroom . It was, and is a place we want to continue to visit. I love that we park, then everything else is done on foot. Perfect location.

The place is very very dated. For the price I paid for a night I expected better. The bathroom is the smallest I have even been in. If you are looking for some place nice, I wouldn't choose this one! For a cheap price sure but not for 200$+

Overall this was a great lodge for our trip to Big Bear Lake. The staff was very friendly. A bit less accessible than some other places. Text messages are the only contact after 6pm and only for emergencies after 9pm. Our fireplace did not work well on our first day and had stopped completely when we tried again on the second night. Being that it was after 9pm this didn't seem like an emergency so there was no way to address it. We had the Brown Bear room which is quite spacious and has a full kitchen. No dishwasher and no rack to place hand washed dishes but that is just a minor inconvenience. The kitchen has all the cooking utensils you need, as well as coffee and filters. The room did get pretty cold at times so you have to adjust the thermostat a bit for consistency. There is a warning about turning it too high because it takes a long time to cool the room off, so maybe we were just playing it a little too safe. The Brown Bear room overlooks a major street in The Village. It is extremely convenient for walking around when you leave the lodge, but it can get quite noisy. I had to tend to some business calls while our baby slept in the main bedroom so I had to compete with noise coming up from the street. There is a great gelato shop downstairs that people seem to congregate in front of. So if you need a quiet room, I would suggest inquiring about the rooms facing the rear of the building instead. Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Excellent little gem in the heart of The Village and just a short walk down the main drag to Pine Knot Marina and a cute playground for kids. The management company was very responsive and check-in and parking was easy. The unit itself hasnt been remodeled, and has original 1970's sink and wood paneling but they did a great job in keeping it clean and adding charming cabin style decor. They have every amenity including drip coffee maker, toaster, fridge, hair dryer and bathroom toiletries. I would stay here again and highly reccomend!

The unit was surprisingly spacious. It was a one bedroom, one bath with the sink area separated from the tub/toilet which is nice. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes, pots, pans, etc. There was a full size kitchen with stove, oven and fridge. No dishwasher. The living room was huge with a sofa and a trundle bed that sleeps two. The dining table is perfect for 4. I suppose one could also use the kitchen counter to eat but there were no seats provided. I would have no hesitation cooking in that kitchen but there were plenty of dining options nearby. The location cannot be beat in the heart of the Village and parking just behind the building. I stayed on a Thursday night. The village was happening but the room was not noisy. I'm not sure whether it would be noisy on a Friday or Saturday night. The hosts had very good communication, and I would definitely stay there again.

Took a one daycation to Big Bear just because . It was a choice between holiday ins or socal villa . We stayed at Villa . The location couldn’t be any better . We stay at BlackBear and the window outside was spectacular. We see all the Christmas decorations and people outside just having a good time . Room was nice and clean . Except one thing was really off . The fridge ! Man, that fridge is loud ! Need to replace that fridge asap .

The property is in an excellent location.... right in the heart of the village! It is dated, but they have done a few things to update it like new flooring, fresh paint, new couch, nice bed. It was clean, cool, and comfortable for what we needed! We stayed in #5, Polar Bear.

Visited this past week. From the get go, the management company was very communicative and reached out to me several times. I was traveling with my dog they were super responsive with all the questions that I had (and for $20 the whole stay for my dog, amazing). Check in was a breeze since the management company emailed and texted me all the instructions. The unit itself was spacious with a full service kitchen (yes, fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, dishes, etc.), a separate bedroom and a roomy living room. The place is less than a 10 minute walk to Big Bear Lake and just steps from the main strip with all the restaurants, shops, movie theater, and bars. Eventhough the unit was so close to all the action, it was nice and quiet. Will definitely stay again.

Carpet was wet all day and nite . Was not offered a new room. I was forced to stay and wear shoes though out my stay . Staff did not accommodate for inconvenience stating “you used room” and you pay for stay . Not able to peak to someone in person or phone . All communication was by email. Staff could care less !

Loved that the entrance stepped right out into the Village area. Had Pizza and icecream couple business down. Mexican and BBQ across the street. Parking was right in back of building with great lighting. We stayed in Grizzle and enjoyed our stay. We will definitely stay again. Loved that we got to walk everywhere!

Great place if you want to take advantage of being right in The Village. You can walk out of the building and grab a gelato from the downstairs gelato and tea store right in the building. We ate at the surrounding restaurants, ate gelato and frozen yogurt, checked out the stores and watched a movie at the Village Cinemas. The Village Inn is dated but very clean and everything worked fine including the wifi. Had a full kitchen with full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, range, plates, silverware, pots/pans, etc. which we didn't use as we ate out. No central a/c but they have a portable inside if you need it. Portable a/c's are loud so cool down your room before you go to sleep or do what I do when traveling which is bring some earplugs. This isn't a "front desk" type of lodging unit but communication is excellent and timely. I received all of the information I needed via text and email. Room access is via a code that they provide when you text a copy of your ID the day of. When you check out, you just drop them a text. Convenient parking in the back of the building parking lot.

Der Zustand der Wohnung an sich ist OK. Es könnte mehr wert auf den Zustand der Wohnung gelegt werden. Die Tür sieht sehr ramponiert aus. Bett und Badezimmer sind in Ordnung. Leider wurde der Teppich gereinigt- der Boden war nass und man musste Schuhe tragen. Es war niemand vor Ort der helfen konnte- nur Kontakt über die App.

I loved the location to this place. You could walk out of the front door for this place and it opened right to the main downtown area. I rented 2 dooms and both were clean including the towels and linens. I did find one small tick in the shower but to me, you're in the mountains and is expected. Sadly the downstairs room did not have a working fireplace however they did provide a space heater. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware and silverware, including coffee, etc. The beds were comfortable however too high and for my elderly parents, it was not ideal. My dad had to sleep on the couch and my mom needed a chair to climb into the bed. I was not a fan of the bathroom in both rooms being in the bedroom, so my family would have to walk through our room to use the restroom, even while we were sleeping. There's no elevator to 2nd floor so to take my handicap father to the main street I either had to drive him around or walk through the back street to find a way to the front street. The customer service was fantastic and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. So for able bodied folks, this place was great. Just not for us who had my elderly parents with mobility issues.
