Staff was friendly and room was clean. Pool was not open.

The stay was great and the absolute friendliest staff I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with in many hotels! The only down fall is the pool is not heated which they absolutely told us at check in! The room was what we needed and spacious for a week stay! Would absolutely recommend!

The staff was friendly. The hotel was clean however the furniture was very old and dated. The furniture tv console full of sugar ants. On our last day the elevator button going up broke. Staff explained that it was some other guests that broke it. We had to take the stairs up and the elevator down. This is a challenge I was travel with a person with mobility issues.

Great but needs an EV charger

The room was expensive for what they offer. It was very outdated. There was barely any lighting in the room. The toilet made a HUGE noise when flushing, there was black mold in the bathroom. The pool and hot tub were dirty and no towels.

Very clean. Great pool/ hot tub and breakfast! We did have trouble with the evening clerk, Brooke. She seemed distracted, unwilling to help, and was very disinterested in helping with a few minor, but neccessary adjustments to our room. Otherwise, WE found Star and the manager ( i have forgotten her name) to be quite the opposite! They were a joy to speak with, extremely helpful with issue resolution, and went out of their way to make ensure our stay was plesant. Star even recommended a local restaurant to try, ajd it was amazing! Our 2 night stay, while visiting Kings Dominion, was far better than previous places. Terry was very knowledgeable, and helpful. He resolved an issue immediately! He has a very welcoming demeanor. For all these reasons. We will be booking with Holiday Inn Express, Ashland, for all future trips to this area. Also, It is worth noting, that this beautiful property is located in close proximity to Kings Dominion (Doswell) with easy access to and from the property. Thank you all for a wonderful stay! We will be back soon!!

There was not enough parking. We were told to park in a lot of a different lot where it said no overnight parking with the possibility of being towed.

Maintenance is not a top priority for this hotel. We had used this hotel a year ago and no issues with the hotel overall, this visit a year later was a completely different experience. Elevator issues - Only 1 elevator was functional of the 2 on property. The inside the functional elevator control panel is very loose. Room issues – Microwave missing knobs Center room light fixture made buzzing sound and did not light. Bathroom towel holder was falling off the wall Bathroom door handle was broken, but the door was crooked enough to stay closed when pulled closed. Breakfast – Was ok but the morning I did eat the food was not great it was cold and not prepared well. Cleanliness- Room was clean, bedding and all overall surfaces were all good. On two separate days 2 large cockroaches were seen on the ground floor in the hallway in the vicinity of the kitchen. Staff- The night front desk agent seemed to be more interested in a person in the parking lot than the actual hotel customers. They were very friendly and helpful, but only when you caught the person at the front desk.

We booked this hotel because it had a pool....pool was closed due to mold. Wouldn't have stayed here if we knew the pool was closed.

Very nice pool and spa

The room had dirty walls the people across from our room were smoking so our room stunk like cigarettes and I want to say maybe a hint of ammonia. The air conditioning was so loud we slept with the tv on to drowned out the sound of it. On the wall next to the bathroom mirror was what looked like blood stains. We were exhausted from a very long drive it was very late at night and only needed a few hours of sleep so we stuck it out. Went down for breakfast and the floor in the breakfast area had food spilled on the floor that I had seen the night before and it was still there in the am. I don’t recommend this hotel which is crazy because I have always stayed at Holiday Inn because they were always so well kept but not this one.

Saw cockroaches in the room, pool area, lobby. Dated appliances in the room.

Couldn’t find it. Hard time getting phone number to get directions. Once I got through the girl was wonderful.

Needs a deep cleaning. Shower head in room 171 has black mold. Vent in bathroom is horribly loud and filthy. Beds were comfortable and clean.

Although the staff seemed to be very courteous and helpful, the room was very dirty upon arrival. There was trash behind the night stand and a brown- colored liquid splashed on the walls. (The desk clerk offered us a different room.)

Old building. There is mold and water damage in the room. The exhaust fan does not work. The water is not very hot even after letting it run for a long time, it was just lukewarm. The bathroom door has water damage and barely closes. Staff was friendly and hotel was clean. It was noisy with plumbing noises during the night. There are several restaurants and stores within walking distance but curb and bushes as barriers to make it inconvenient and I also wouldn’t recommend doing so after dark. Overall, I wouldn’t be back.

There was a huge mold above the toilet in the bathroom and there was gross stuff on the walls bed's didn't feel clean and ac wasnt working would not stay here again even common areas was dirty

This property is clearly in need of updates. We didn't need our key to enter the side door nor the pool so security is concerning. I refused to let my kids swim in the pool because it was so cloudy you could not see the bottom. Our bathroom was dirty (the floor, tub/shower) and the shower curtain did not cover the entire opening so the bathroom was soaking wet after bathing. The bathroom.door was about to fall off the hinges. The carpet constantly felt damp. Overall, I guess you get what you pay for.

The first room they put me in was dirty. Bathroom fan was extremely noisy. They moved me to another room. It was dirty floors in the bathroom was sticky. The carpet was sticky on your feet just terrible.

Coffee options were good with Keurig in room and the breakfast was ok. Cinnamon rolls were not soft. We had 3 cockroaches in the room. Under the couch was wrappers, food, and a sock. The toilet flusher broke but was able to be reconnected. No shampoo in the shower, only body wash, conditioner, and lotion. Furniture was worn and cracked; carpet was coming up. Location was close to the interstate. Front desk staff were a mix of nice and couldn’t be bothered.

Facility appeared new and appealing from outside. Lobby area also clean and staff pleasant and welcoming. Had difficulty finding room due to room number missing from room. Arrive to room to find it warm and humid. A/C was set on 68 but clearly not working correctly. Attendant came directly to room and said she reset unit. Said all units had to be on 68 to work properly although the unit in the hall next to the elevator was on 60 and felt ice cold. Unit ran all night and continued to be slightly cool but not cold. Observed room across hall about 3 or 4 rooms down with same issue. Carpet damaged and worn at threshold of entry and bathroom. Staple from carpet sticking in bare feet at bathroom entrance. Bathroom exhaust fan full of dust. Remote control didn’t work properly. Bed very comfortable. Pillows also. Breakfast was ok at best. Juice machine was broken and cartons of orange juice were put out but they were frozen and couldn’t drink. Oatmeal wasn’t hot. Other food items were not refilled in timely manner. Coffee was good and receptionist remained pleasant upon exiting.

Our room (a 1 BR suite with two queens and a sofabed) was run-down. The carpet was frayed, bathroom door did not close all the way and did not lock, bedroom door (we had a suite) bumped into the corner of the bed. Very tight to navigate for five people. We were not given linens for the sofabed. Had to go downstairs to get them and were given a shower curtain for a sheet. Breakfast offered a good variety but items were slow to be refilled.

Check in and check out were easy. Breakfast was good. Our room was dated and in need of a refresh but the bed was comfortable. The biggest issue was the bathroom. The drain in the bathtub took a very long time to drain shower water, and eventually I was standing in water above my ankles. Also the soap/shampoo had been refilled into the incorrect bottles. The hotel is convenient to Kings Dominion and several restaurants.

Over night Monday stay. The price was right. Bed was very comfortable. I feel like they are in the process of updating, new carpets were obvious. Room needed some plumbing updates. With that said the water pressure was awesome! Staff was friendly.

The air conditioning came on for 5 mins then off for 10 or so, the entire night. The place listed queen size beds, they definitely were not.

My room was 356 right beside my bed was a soaked carpet and my AC would shut off completely. So during the night it was stuffy. I live this hotel but this time my experience was not as normal. My experience is normal great .

The outside of the building has been updated, however id venture to guess mlst of the rooms have not been given the same care. The rooms show signs of wear from the carpets to the furniture. The mattrsses were new and very comfortable, however the other seating and furniture need to be updated.

The front desk attendant was very helpful, and went the extra mile to help us.

Property was amazing, breakfast was even better!! AC in the room was ice cold. Leslie at the front desk was beyond professional and courteous! We would recommend this spot to anyone!

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed. The front desk personnel were absolutely fantastic! We were even greeted by staff when entering the breakfast area! Cannot say enough about the employees. Courteous, helpful and all around nice. Clean environment, spacious and comfortable. Great food. We will definitely stay there again. Good parking area as well. Just a great overall experience. Highly recommend.

Mrs. or Ms. Tabitha that works at the front desk helped make my family’s experience one to remember. She was kind and made us laugh. Hope to see her again one day to say Thank You!

Very nice stay front desk staff helpful. Where very attentive and made sure request were met.

The staff is absolutely AMAZING!!! The room was clean and the breakfast was actually pretty good.

Very Customer Friendly, Great staff, very neat and Clean. The Breakfast was great also.

Everything was fine except the wifi was very slow at times. No other complaints. Ashley at the front desk was helpful. I have not yet received my email receipt or my dollar deposit credit.

Easy to access from I95

Considering the price point, this is a great place to stay a night or 2 for a theme park visit. Friendly staff and clean. Plenty of shopping and dinning close by.

The only thing I would change is the GPS directions, because with no signage the hotel was hard to find. This isn’t te first time a Holiday was difficult to find.

I liked that this property was easy access to the interstate and that it had several restaurant options within walking distance. I didn't like the lack of housekeeping or the fruit flies all around the breakfast bar.

Staff were wonderful, room was really spacious and lovely. Had trouble with room key not working. But breakfast was pretty awful. I’ve stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels but breakfast here was not up to par and wasn’t even lukewarm.

We stopped here for one night on our way to our vacation spot. Everything was above average. Plenty of room, fitness center was great, and breakfast options were outstanding. Would definitely stay again.

Breakfast was not even worth trying. Limited and unappealing. At first, you notice ridiculous wear and tear and age, but fine for what we need and only there a few hours. Rooms nearby were smoking and it permeated the room in the middle of the night and prevented sleep. Hallway smelled terrible of smoke by morning. Shower curtain had no appropriate liner so water went everywhere. Staff charged card when we checked in. When questioned about pre paid, she stated we reserved with card only but didn't bother to check. Had to prove we paid and she apologized for mistake but amazingly saw it once I proved it instantly. When checking out, staff didn't ask anything about stay. You get what you pay for.

Great selection for Breakfast at the hotel. Coffee available at the breakfast area. Staff constantly checking and refilling things and happy to greet you. Towels already available at the pool. Front desk even had a bandaid when one of the kids needed one. Dove brand shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion in the bathroom. Very comfortable beds and a separate tv for the kids on the couch bed. We will definitely stick with Holiday Inn, every time we travel.
