WoodSpring Suites Ashland - Richmond North

The hotel is nice. It sits basically alongside the Bass Pro Shop. Rooms have stove, but no pots, pans or utensils. Hotel is off the interstate, you do hear the traffic. The front desk is not staffed full time, key is required for entry into building and all areas at all times. Main floor constantly smelled like cigarette smoke.

Stayed for a dog show. It's a no thrills hotel to sleep in. They charge extra for everything and don't provide shampoo or soap. There is a stove top but nothing to cook with. No coffee pot in room and the one in the lobby was broken. Also they don't provide cream or sugar

The reason we chose this hotel was for the kitchen suite. They do provide a kitchen but they do not supply any kitchenware, not a dish, not a pan or silverware, not even a coffee pot in the room.

This is a brand new hotel with kitchenettes in the rooms. I appreciated the full size fridge, but at least when I was there in January 2024 there were no dishes, utensils nor plates/mugs/pots. Maybe they are coming. Maybe you're supposed to bring your own. Also, there was noone to ask. The front door was locked when I arrived. I rang the bell. Eventually someone buzzed me in to the small lobby. There was a wall where the front desk should be, and the inner door, to the rest of the hotel, was also locked unless you had a key card, which of course I didn't. A sign explained that after 10 (it was 10:10) noone was on duty but you could ring a different bell. I did, and eventually a pleasant lady appeared, handed me a key card, and vanished. It wasn't very welcoming. Nor informative: where is the fitness room? Do I get breakfast? Which way to the interstate in the morning? Questions I never got to ask. There were also no other guests to be seen in this large, new, silent hotel. Which made me briefly wonder if it would vanish in the morning, and me with it. But everything was fine.

Positives: clean, secure, not far (1-2 miles) of I-95 and neighboring stores, restaurants etc. safe. Pet-friendly. Kitchette with full refrigerator and stove top. Downsides: no breakfast, no pool, traffic noise from 95, beds are on a metal frame that make noise when you move in bed, hot water runs out quickly.

Felt like a newish building. Check in was good, friendly staff, but marred by the security not allowing us in to the lobby with out contacting via a phone and bring buzzed in. Next time we went out it was the same story. A minor detail, but annoying. Room was clean and comfortable. Some clothes hangers would have been nice. Final annoyance was finding that the "free" wi-fi only included one device per stay.

I chose your property specifically because it advertises rooms with a kitchen. Upon arrival, I found that while there is indeed a kitchen, there are no items provided for cooking — no pans, dishes, knives, or utensils of any kind. There was also no information indicating that guests need to bring their own cooking tools. When I went to the front desk, I was told that utensils are not provided but can be purchased at the hotel. However, when I asked to buy them, I was informed that none were available. Additionally, I have been using the gym for my daily 60-minute workout, but the water fountain has not been working since my arrival. When I asked for some water or an alternative solution, the response was negative, and after two days there is still no “Out of Order” sign on the machine.

The only drawback was the access to WIFI. Registration only permitted us to use 1 free WIFI connection. In this day and age that is unacceptable. There were 2 adults on the reservation each with several devices, to make us pay for WIFI access is totally unacceptable.

Surprisingly this property was very nice. It is an extended stay hotel therefore it does not have cleaning or maid service. However, it is a suite with a stovetop, full refrigerator and microwave. To get fresh towels or lining there is a cloths basket in the room to place your soiled items in; take them to the front desk for exchange. They do have fresh coffee in the lobby. Security is tight, so you must use your room key to enter the building. The price was reasonable low compared with other hotels in the area. I would definitely stay here again.

I never write bad reviews and overall, the room and the bathroom were spacious and very clean and the bed was comfortable. But you had to have a key card to access the front desk so I had to ask another guest to let me in to check in. Then I waited 15 minutes at the empty front desk, I rang the bell and even phoned the hotel but it disconnected after one ring. Finally someone appeared and reluctantly checked me in. The walls were paper thin so there was a lot of traffic noise and I could hear everything from the rooms either side. The AC was blasting continuous freezing air no matter what temperature you put the thermostat on so I had to turn it off and then the room smelled like wet dog. The front desk was unmanned from 10pm to 9am each night so I had to take my car keys with me when I walked the dog in case my key card died and I had to sleep in my car! The parking lot and grass areas were very dark and nobody had picked up their dog poop so it was a minefield.

Staff was super nice. Did not have any shampoo in room. No hair dryer or iron. They did get me a hair dryer once i asked about one. First room we were in had bad smell and wasn’t very clean. They did change our room. Also if you have a room on the side where interstate 95 is you will hear all that traffic. Also the hallways smell like marijuana.

Found hairs, dirty smell & giant bed stain in the middle of my sheets. I was only offered clean sheets upon the removal of the old sheets - the sheets I did not dirty myself. Not my job nor did I pay to have to clean up after someone else.

A great extended stay hotel. There are kitchenettes in the room with a stove top, microwave, sink, and refrigerator, but you’ll have to bring your own cookware. Bathrooms were clean when I arrived and come with towels. The water tended to be lukewarm when I was there. Sometimes though the water would get really hot. Room service isn’t a feature here since this is an extended stay guests are responsible for cleaning their rooms. Laundry room was in good condition. The free wifi was slow and they charge for faster wifi. Overall I enjoyed my stay and will def come here again.

The staff was very nice and willing to accommodate us. But the rooms were dirty and the bed sheets were stained. The toilet paper had a half used roll on the spool when we cam into the room.

We booked 2 rooms. When we checked in at a little after 5 pm the one room smelled like someone just smoked weed. It was so strong we had to open the window and went to the second room where it wasn’t even cleaned. Towels on the floor and bed not made and garbage. And the key was left on the counter from the last renter. They told us we would have to wait because they was booked full so we went to eat and came back a little over a hr later and room 2 was still not cleaned.

There was no hot water. Stood there for 2 nights no matter what time I showered, no hot water! Covers had hair on them. By the elevator, there were garbage bags piled up. Made the hallway and elevator smell terrible!!!

Room was filthy. Main areas like the tub and countertops seemed clean but the floor was sticky to walk on and there was dirt and dust piled up at the edges of the floor and corners. Splattered mess on the kitchen cabinets and under the bathroom sink. Thick dust in the bathroom exhaust fan. Water pressure was horrible in shower and literally a trickle in the kitchen sink. Threadbare, stained towels. Also, soon after entering the room my whole family was sniffling and sneezing. I can only imagine what the HVAC filter looked like. Every time we went through the hallway by the elevator on the main floor there were wet floor signs out because of puddles of dog urine that weren’t cleaned with any urgency.

Appearance and condition better than anticipated. I arrived prepared to clean and sanitize my booked room myself before I brought anything inside for my stay, as I do each time I stay at Woodsprings Suites and/or establishments alike. This was my first time staying at this particular location. While I still proceeded to wipe down all surfaces in the room, the property was actually well kept inside out. The staff was courteous, the people (other room attendants) were decent, the atmosphere was peaceful… there was no heavy loitering. Apparently, this location is new. I hope they are able to keep it this pleasant for an extended period of time. I look forward to staying at this location more often.

We asked for a quiet room. We were given a room on the 4th floor overlooking and right next to Interstate 95! It was impossible to sleep due to traffic noise. The facilities in the room were basic. Just 1 towel plus facecloth each. No tissues. There was coffee available in the reception area in the morning, but the reception desk was shuttered. Would not stay there again, and would definitely not recommend.

The hotel is newer and appears to be well maintained. For all the outdoor enthusiasts, it is directly next to Outdoor World. There are also several eateries just at the end of the road. It is in a good location for those going to events at the Henrico Sports Complex and the Meadows Event Center in Doswell. If you are sensitive to noise, the rear of the hotel faces directly onto i-95 so you will hear traffic all night long. It is a basic extended stay type property so fairly utilitarian but comfortable.

Brand new, everything was clean, customer service was great. Only complaint is the walls are thin. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing, as well as the traffic on I-95.

Everything was great except the bed frame (cheap frame you can find on amazon). Besides that I would stay there again with no problem.

I believe it would be helpful if there were heavy drapes in the room, instead of just blinds. The room was very close the highway. It was very loud.

Bed was seemingly smaller than a queen and it was really low to the floor Staff left,as soon as we checked in & didn't show back up till we were checking out.

Unfortunately the noise level was bad this time. The room above me was very distracting. Could not rest comfortably.

I had a room right next to I-95 - I was not able to move to another less Loud room. I did not get sleep and the next day was my sister's weddind day. Sad to say this was one of the worse hotel experiences I have Ever had.

The hotel is very nice. But the highway noise if you are on the highway side of the building makes it near impossible to sleep.

I had a very late arrival after 2+ hours of traffic 😩. The overnight guest service rep (T) was so kind and made checking in very quick and smooth. Thank you! The room was very clean and simple and the bed very comfortable. Perfect for a long trip overnight rest - safe, clean and efficient. Will stay every time I make this trip!

Be aware that after 10pm there is no front desk staff, doors are locked and you must call to check in. I also had to make a noise complaint when the room above us were being obnoxiously loud at 2 in the morning for over an hour.

Front desk staff is 5 stars 100%. They were very accommodating and friendly. The only thing I can possible come up with is the hot water is a hit or miss but it wasn’t enough to keep me from booking again. I absolutely love the service I received. The room was clean and property had a great security system going on. This is the first place that I have stayed that I have had to scan my room key a few times to reach the elevator but definitely not complaining. I will absolutely recommend to others

Lobby closed at 10, and we had been stuck in horrible traffic all day so we arrived at 1012 and could not get to the room we already paid for. We were supposed to be there at 7, but traffic was that awful. So disappointed and we had to get another room elsewhere. I would never book here again. Every other hotel in the area has check in open until at least midnight.

Just a great property. Very nice front desk staff. Everything was quick and no problems at all. Rena was a wonderful clerk.

The customer service is poor. No one would be available in front desk from 10:00PM-9:00AM.

We arrived at 7pm Friday to check in. The lobby requires a key card to enter. We attempted to use the phone provided to call the front desk. Nobody answered. Finally a voice came over the speaker rudely telling us we could come in. The woman working at the desk was very short with us while checking is in. We came back 30 minutes later from picking up dinner and meet two women who were stuck outside the door, unable to check in. They had also attempted to call the front desk with no answer. I let them in and saw the women was standing behind the front desk, apparently ignoring the phone. The hallway smelled odd….like dogs or just not fresh. Our room was clean, but very basic which was fine. There were no hand towels, which isn’t a huge deal. Our room was located on the ground floor near the end of the hallway. It was convenient since we could park hear the door and access the building there. The dumpsters where also located there. There appeared to only be one dumpster in the fenced area. The doors were propped open and there was a huge mound of trash bags spilling out onto the sidewalk. Luckily it wasn’t a hot weekend or I’m certain the smell would have been awful. I saw several guests take trash out and add it to the pile, I’m assuming that was because staff doesn’t take care of that. The hotel was inexpensive, which was good for our needs. I would just say that the staff could be more friendly and the trash situation needs to be addressed.

BEWARE, if you book a room here after 10pm for the same evening, you will not get your room. Last night while driving home from vacation with my family, we had gotten caught in some unexpected delays and started looking for somewhere along our route to stay. I booked a room at this hotel around 10:30 pm and we arrived at the property around 11:45pm. At that time, the after hours employee came to the door and informed me that there were no more check ins for the evening. I showed her my expedia confirmation and she called her manager. The manager stated no one would be available to provide us with a room key until 9am the next morning. The after hours employee had no access to room keys and did not have the ability to check us in. So we never even got to go into a room even though the charge had already been processed online. It was a long and frustrating night.

I received excellent, top notch service from Asia at check-in. She was pleasant and efficient and I would definitely stay again!!! I will highly recommend to others as well.

Staff is very friendly. The suite is nice and clean. The noise from the highway is louder than expected but we slept well. Definitely would stay here again, we felt safe. Good restaurant and Bass Pro shop next door was a plus.

The room had a small kitchen area with a large fridge. Located close to 95. Does not have someone 24 hours at the desk. No hair dryer in the room. It is a new hotel clean and spacious rooms.

This hotel is close to 95 but the traffic did not bother me in terms of sleeping. I slept great! It is in a quiet area which I like.

My girlfriend and I were coming from a long trip and wanted somewhere clean and in a nice area to rest our heads, Woodspring was in a nice quiet area with a wonderful staff and a super comfy room. We are definitely going to be using that location on our future trips. Room was clean and cozy and many food places around. 10/10 for my girlfriend and I !

This new hotel is missing out on ‘hotel business.’ There is a very decent kitchenette but no coffee maker or cutlery, pots/pans. Even the coffeemaker in the entry wasn’t working! Beds are fairly comfortable but not outstanding. Again, it is a new hotel so the cleanliness is good.

No shampoo, conditioners, or moisturizer in bathroom. Room bordered I95 so it was very noisy while trying to sleep. It suited our needs as a one night stay while traveling, but would’ve appreciated a continental breakfast in the morning. Thanks
