I booked through Hotels.com. When I called the resort, there was a glitch so they upgraded us to a condo (The Buttes #517). Staff don’t know what interiors look like - This is a rental but privately owned. Built in the 1970s & this unit needs major renovations. The carpets are stained & look filthy. The front door sticks/hard to open/close. There is a wood beam bolted to the living room floor (why????). No furniture on the balcony to enjoy stunning Crested Butte views, flooring missing/torn, a toilet/shower area that smells like sewer gas, a tub w chips & no safety mat. The bedrooms/1 bath are upstairs…a queen bed in one, twin beds in the other. There is NO cross ventilation - the twin bedroom has very high operable windows that you cannot reach to open. There is a circular, narrow stairway to the bedrooms that is dangerous, particularly w luggage, & for children. The bathrooms have low, old toilets - if you have knee problems, good luck. Rather than remodel, there is sloppy caulking everywhere to “repair” what should be replaced. I understand the ski in/ski out mentality, but people visit off season. The staff w Vail properties are powerless because it is a private owner. Maybe the owner will remodel when people won’t pay for something that should be maintained & updated. It was once a lovely condo….in 1974. Years of use and abuse has rendered it awful - even the handle on the microwave was broken off at the top. Don’t stay in that unit (517) until it has been remodeled.

The property was absolutely beautiful, the staff were wonderful, and we got a surprise upgrade to a two bedroom suite from a studio. Overall, it was a wonderful weekend for our wedding trip to the mountains.

Our stay was incredible. While some elements were outdated and could have used some love/replacement, the room was clean and the staff was incredible along with the convenient location!!!

We arrived at the check-in time of 4 pm and were told the condo wasn't ready, with no estimate of when it would be ready. Ultimately, we were not able to check in until 7 pm! That was very poor service and unacceptable. Think how ridiculous that is! The description of our unit said that there is no elevator. However, we weren't expecting the unit to be four floors up. Beware that when combined with our three-level condo, the master bedroom was six floors up! We were definitely huffing and puffing. If climbing stairs at altitude is for you, then don't rent this condo. The unit is nice, but has a lot of maintenance issues. There are multiple things that need maintenance. It's clear that the owners/managers are not maintaining the unit properly. I could have tried calling in the list of maintenance items, but I didn't care to have repairmen running around during our visit (should that actually happen!). Most maintenance items are obvious and the owners/managers should be fixing these things in between renters.

Beautiful view. Floors creaked so there was no getting up without waking others. The bathroom had mildew on the shower curtains and the toilet didn’t flush well. Needs more kitchen items to properly cook.
