The Axel could do with a bit of maintenance.... it wused to be a great place to stay but this time room didnt seem to have any maintenance since Covid, jacuzzi pump didnt work and gym showers were out of oreder....

The ac in the room wasn’t working and there was a weird smell in the room. The facilities in the hotel are not great. Small gym, the door of the sauna not getting closed and Bad smell in the wet sauna. Need to improve the facilities.

Great location, friendly staff. The rooms and amenities need a little refurbishing though. Unfortunately no showers in the spa when I visited, and the mattress was worn out in my room.

Hi, My satisfaction with this stay at the hotel (and this is not my first time here) is quite low. The dry sauna was out of order throughout the entire six-day stay, and the jacuzzi was also not functioning properly — it was essentially just a lukewarm bath, nothing more. Throughout the stay, only one elevator was working, which caused long waits and delays. But the worst part was when *both elevators* were out of service for an entire day! That’s simply unacceptable — how does a situation like that happen? We had to go up and down from the 5th floor almost constantly, either because of long waits or because neither elevator was working. Despite all this, I must say that the reception staff were kind and the breakfast was excellent. I expect compensation for the inconvenience caused by all these issues with the hotel facilities. It’s simply not respectful, and I will reconsider staying at this hotel during my next visit to Berlin.

Personal konnte nicht gut Deutsch. Zimmer wurde nicht gut gereinigt, Badewanne war nie gereinigt. Stuabsaugen auch nicht.

Rooms were dirty and whole building seemed dirty and unclean. I checked out within 30 minutes of checking in and advised I would be refunded however the following day they decided they would not refund the stay and instead charged me for the full stay in a room which still had dust and rubbish from seemingly 10 years ago. Terrible place and do not recommend

The location of the hotel is perfect. The rooms have seen better days- unfortunately you can see and smell it. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere between guests and staff is very familiar.

Sauberkeit war echt schlecht das aus der dusche geruch raus kamm und das ganze zimmer stark roch ,services sprachen fast nur englich,deutsch war sehr schlecht zu verstehen , das lange warten bis mann sein zimmer bekommt und nur ein Fahrstuhl funktioniert, keine gute Ausschilderung. Wir werden da auf jeden fall nicht mehr buchen

Hôtel sans intérêt - La propreté n’est pas au rendez-vous La salle de bain n’était pas irréprochable - le flexible de douche était cassé (le réceptionniste a pu le réparer) Des moucherons dans la chambre Le matelas est inconfortable & les chambres sur rue sont bruyantes .. Des travaux en cours dans Gym Center / SPA area .. POINT POSITIF : le réceptionniste (Benoit) qui a le sens du service client et qui a tenté de faire au mieux ! Thank you Benoit

The hotel needs fixes and a loving hand! On arrival, we immediately noticed a bad smell in our room. At first we “tried to live with it”, but the next day we asked to be moved to another room. Sadly, that wasn’t possible due to the hotel being fully booked during the football final weekend. On top of that, the jacuzzi in the room didn’t work. But we used it as a regular bathtub instead (the drain cover was also broken and had to be placed and removed by hand instead of turning the knob). That’s when we realized that the smell in the room, we initially thought was due to a lack of cleaning after someone smoking in the room, actually came from the carpet. The bathtub was leaking! Water went through hidden cracks somewhere, and despite not splashing water around, the water would leak through the floor/wall and continuously make the carpet very wet. Hence the moldy smell in the room. Sadly, this wasn’t a great experience :-( and we will choose another hotel next time we visit Berlin.

The entire hotel stinks of cigarette smoke, sewage and cheap air freshener. This place was obviously once quite cool, but is now in dire need of a complete overhaul. The carpets are threadbare in places and badly stained, the walls are papered in a fabric wallpaper which for a venue like this was a mistake, particularly when nothing is maintained. Doors in the corridor slamming all night, and a rock hard mattress with one very worn pillow also made for a very poor sleep. Checked out one night early and moved to a different hotel closer to the city. Never again.

Unfortunately, the shower in my room was not watertight, which meant that the sliding door to the living room was not watertight, which led to the bedroom being flooded. Not nice! Furthermore, there was no closet in the room, only a small niche to store your belongings. There wasn't even a hook to hang up a coat. The breakfast in the restaurant next door was definitely not worth the money.

I was happy with my stay! The hotel is in a great location and is close to fun bars and restaurants. It is very convenient to have the gym and saunas available 24 hours for hotel guests. All of the staff that I came in contact with were friendly, helpful, and professional. However - the hotel lacks basic amenities. It was my first time ever staying in a hotel where the rooms are not equipped with hair dryers, coffee makers, irons, or ironing boards.

The stay here was fine, the property is starting to show its age, and the mattresses are hard as a rock, but the staff are lovely and very helpful. Tip if you book a more expensive room such as a junior suite - request a high floor. I was on level 2 and had constant traffic noise, could hear the conversations of people on the street at all hours of the night, and at times could smell cigarette smoke coming up from street level.

It’s a gay hotel near the gay neighborhood. That is about all that it has going for it. The rooms are dark and smell like cigarette smoke. The beds are hard and you can feel the springs. The baseboards are broken in places. One window did not have any way to block out the morning Sun, so no sleeping in. Location excellent though.

I chose the hotel because of its location and that didn’t disappoint. However the room was deeply disappointing in several respects and the staff could only offer very limited help. Firstly, the room was decorated in black with very low levels of lighting. The staff couldn’t provide any additional lighting and I had to use a torch to find things. Secondly there was only one power socket and that was at the foot of the bed. The staff did find a very short extension lead so I could charge two items at once, but they had to be on the floor out of reach when in bed. There was very little cupboard or drawer space for clothes and nowhere to put an empty suitcase. The shower was good.

So where to begin !! Rude staff at check in firstly Waited untill after check in time for a room that was not even clean !! No towels in the room and a door that would not close !! So the spa area and gym area Dirty no towels here either Toilets dirty over flowing ! Breakfast well this is a joke !! Sat down for 20 minutes whilst the waiter was sat on the bar flicking through Grindr rather then approaching me and taking my order I was there for 28 minutes before a girl came over to take my drink order Then another 5 minutes later the staff came over and laughed saying do you want to eat ?? Well this was a joke and the breakfast choice honestly you would get better in a hostel !! So I raised these concerns to the reception who told me to send an email rather then deal with the situation there and then !! I have pictures of all the things to document !!

The highlight was the really helpful and friendly reception staff, thanks a lot for your great recommendations and the very warm welcome to Berlin, can't wait to stay with you again. Very disappointed with my stay. Receptionist checking me in could not find booking, very rude and abrupt. took over 30 minutes to locate booking even though I provide booking confirmation no. Generally the hotel durty and smelly. Room tine, noisy aircon, window did not shut properly so lots of road noise. Sauna and steam room not working.For the price paid offered very poor value for money. Overall the hotel needs cleaning, reception staff need to know the basics of cutomer service.
Very disappointed with my stay. Receptionist checking me in could not find booking, very rude and abrupt. took over 30 minutes to locate booking even though I provide booking confirmation no. Generally the hotel durty and smelly. Room tine, noisy aircon, window did not shut properly so lots of road noise. Sauna and steam room not working.For the price paid offered very poor value for money. Overall the hotel needs cleaning, reception staff need to know the basics of cutomer service.

Der Zettel an der Tür eines Nachbarzimmers mit der Aufschrift „Slave 4free use welcome“ lässt mich mit einem unguten Gefühl zurück. Sicherlich mein letzter Besuch in dem Hotel.

Property gouged me on price, I booked a room direct with them on their own website, and another 2 on Expedia, 2 days before my stay they canceled the only room I’d booked direct (for €470) with no explanation, eventually spoke to reception who so and the GM had told them to cancel my suite as they’d double booked it. They had a dozen other rooms they could have moved my reservation to, however they forced me to rebook a lower room on a new reservation that cost twice as much as my original! Do not book this hotel, shady business practices, room was filthy, the bath area I ended up cleaning myself because it was disgusting, the FOH team (with the exception of Kevin) are mostly rude and one two occasions I was stood there walked them get caught out talking s**t about the guest checking not realising they could speak German. Whole hotel is insanely dark, worn out and old, you spend your entire time trying to see yourself in your room mirrors and walking out into the hall using one of those mirrors. I spent $25k last year with the Miami property and assumed that the Berlin and Madrid properties would be as good, they are terrible. GM refuses to ever leave their office and speak to guests. As a hotel operator and marketing agency I can tell you this hotel operates WAAAY outside the normal hotel practice - booker beware!

Das Hotel ist soweit ganz gut und zentral gelegen. Das Frühstück war nicht so toll. Da empfehle ich Leiber in ein Café in der Nähe zu gehen. Ein kleiner Kühlschrank wäre noch schön. Und beim Duschen steht leider das ganze Bad unter Wasser. Die Dachterrasse ist ein Traum und das Personal sehr nett. Auch sind die in Schöneberg typischen Bars fußläufig zu erreichen.

Excellent place to stay. My room and bath were immaculate. The hotel offers a good breakfast from a menu, and is the evening the restaurant features Georgian (Caucasian) cuisine. It is within walking distance from Nollendorf Platz, and is a block away from the Wittenbergplatz U-bahn station which makes it easy to go anywhere and do anything in Berlin.

My favorite place to stay in Berlin. Located one block from the Wittenberg-Platz U-Bahn station, so getting around the city is fairly easy. The rooms face the courtyard, so there is hardly any street noise. There are a number of restaurants and eating places in the area, and the hotel has a restaurant specializing in cuisine from the Caucasus region.

Unfortunately, the shower in my room was not watertight, which meant that the sliding door to the living room was not watertight, which led to the bedroom being flooded. Not nice! Furthermore, there was no closet in the room, only a small niche to store your belongings. There wasn't even a hook to hang up a coat. The breakfast in the restaurant next door was definitely not worth the money.

The best part of my stay was that there was a front desk. After having some dismal results due to email malfunctions and getting entry codes it was a pleasure to be greeted by a real person that provides guests with key card. The dining was excellent - the hotel has a Georgian restaurant that provides guests with a taste of Caucasian cuisine. The hotel is one block from the Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn station and walking distance to the Zoologischer Garten station for connections to the S-Bahn lines that make Berlin accessible without a car.

I have been coming yearly for 6-7 years and the standard has been decreasing every time The room is full of dust on all the black surfaces. The door to the toilet is broken and cannot open be open with pushing hard. The breakfast is way below standard. This was me final visit to Axel Berlin.
