The property is very nice but in a sad state of upkeep, maintenance and landscaping. In my room the bathroom faucet would move when trying to turn on the water. The sink filled fast and took 15 minutes to drain after shaving. The Jacuzzi tub mechanicals didn’t work but it filled and drained well. I went out to the front patio for breakfast and it badly needed landscape and basic cleanup work out there. Location is excellent and the AC in the room worked very well while I was there. I enjoyed using the Pool area and outdoor hot tub that seemed to be well cared for out there in the back.

As a small business, the staff is nice but does not always staff the front desk. I respect small business B&B style,, but unfortunately, there are things to be attended to with somebody on staff without having to text or call the ‘night number.’ For example, the ice machine was empty. The breakfast was only DIY waffles, toast and cereal and the coffee pot was empty. The pool had leaves in it but was fortunately a good temp. Most of all they need to confirm with guests that they have successfully refunded the $150 deposit thru charge, especially when there was no one to talk to at checkout. Beds were comfortable and we love Ojai, so I believe they can do better.

The Inn is quaint and in a fantastic location. The biggest issue is that it’s very dated and needs some upgrades. There are no closets in the room and no other options except for a couple of hooks where they had robes. The faucet in the sink was loose and the sink area is actually in the room, not inside the shower/toilet area. Nobody ever cleaned our room or even emptied our trash the 3 days we were there. However, the 2-story building is cute and the pool and the outside hot tub is nice! There are also a few lounge-type areas which have nice views! I would recommend staying there, but it would be great if they fix the broken vending machine and the broken ice machine! They are eyesores, and it would be nice to have those amenities available. Pretty hotel , quiet and clean however the room had a huge jacuzzi tub in it that didn’t work and the towels are sadly in need of replacing. Pool is tiny but cute, hot tub ok. The cocktail hour and breakfast are nice.

We LOVE this little hotel but don’t love the $30 hidden resort fee. Also the jets don’t work in any of the tubs in the suites, which we paid extra money for. It’s a lovely little place though and in the heart of Ojai

Definitely not worth the price. It's only value is that it is within walking distance of the Libbey Bowl, if one is going to a concert in Ojai. Parking is limited.

They double charged my card even though the first time it showed approved. On check in was the only time someone was at the desk, otherwise a “please call this number” sign was posted. Breakfast was meager and stale considering $425/night. Non-guests were using the rather small pool and letting their children splash people not even in the pool. The jacuzzi controls were broken, effectively a useless, second bath tub. I checked, there were no other places available our second night or we would have left. Lastly, seems like parking was insufficient.

However room is very small, needs to be cleaned, dental floss and hair in the bathroom from prior guests, it is in need of a deep clean, bed was lumpy and not flat at all, the hotel reached out to me for feedback, once given they haven’t responded, I would of communicated this to the front desk, but after check in didn’t see anyone to discuss. Save your money, not worth the price point at all.

My family and I were very much looking forward to staying at this place based on reviews and website photos. When we arrived the decor and smell took our breath away. Lots of old and worn out furniture. The place was very dusty and dirty. So much of the place needed a hot soapy towel and hot mop of bleach. The pool had tons of bugs and lots of trash and food droppings from prior guest. I did enjoy the staff friendliness and the housekeepers trying their best. We don’t think we’ll be going back. It’s too bad. It has such great bones.

Room smelled of bleach upon entering but was filthy. Socks, candles, cigarette lighter, dirty napkin all found on floor. Hair could be seen in shower drain. Literally was afraid to touch anything! Room was in terrible condition: broken blinds and bed frame; uneven & dirty floor; height of furniture and appliances all awkward (extremely high bed and sink). Too much to fix! Very uncomfortable overnight work trip. Couldn't wait to leave. Please AVOID room 14 at all costs.

I really want to love this place. It\'s charming, staff is really friendly but the building has toxic mold. I was first put into room 00 and I noticed a bubble of paint on the bathroom wall indicating past water damage, so I was suspicious. I also had to open the toilet tank as the toilet was malfunctioning and the whole inside was covered in mold. I noticed all this a few hours after check in, but since there is no front desk person all night, I was sleepless and coughing until the next day when I was able to get switched to another room. The employee was very helpful and immediately got me taken care of to another room upstairs, although even that room had visible mold beginning to grow in the tile grout in the shower and visible water damage from a really strange installation of the sink that was super loose. I have just come out of a toxic mold situation in my own home so I am much more sensitive than most people at this time as my system is overloaded with toxins as I detox, so most people probably would not have such a severe reaction, but please let my suffering not be in vain. Chantico Inn management needs to hire a professional mold inspector to assess the hotel and remediate, for the safety of employees and all guests. In addition to the mold, after I checked out they overcharged me for "additional taxes" without my prior consent so I am still waiting for a resolution on that. If I\'d had the money I would have gone to another hotel but I could not swing it.

The place has bed bugs. When we arrived, the room was dirty. There were potato chip crumbs on the coffee table and floor. We noticed black spots on the bed and insect skin. We didn't realize it at the time, but this was evidence of bed bugs. We told the staff and were put in another room. A few days later, one of the guys on our crew woke up with bites all over him, and we could then see the bed bugs crawling around. We informed the manager, Tia. She was very rude and said we probably brought them even though I showed the photos we took in the first 10 minutes we arrived of the insect skin in the bed. She has no clue how to talk to guests. She blamed everything on us. I spoke with the owner, and he said he would refund our money. They refunded a few nights but not the full stay. I am now filing a dispute with my credit card company for a refund. There are much nicer places to stay in Ojai.

The room floor was a really old and dirty carpet. The bathroom sink not properly installed and as a result the water would leak to the counter and floor. The shower wall was really bas consition with many tiles broken. The bathroom floor tiles broken and not cleaned. The hallway outside the upstairs room not clean. The pool water didn’t look clean.

It's a charming property, and we liked the swimming pool on a hot afternoon. The room (#13) feels exposed since there's a common area for other guests just outside the door, along with the adjacent highway. And there were blinking colored lights turned on at night that were visible through our curtains. The bathroom could use extra cleaning.

Cute Hotel exterior - but needs a big Refresh Upgrade to interior rooms. Rooms are dark, carpet is worn, bulky vintage furniture makes rooms feel tight. Paint in room was pealing. Only unit AC and fans. Staff was friendly and pool was clean and nice for cooling off

Was very disappointed - even considered moving to another hotel. Can't believe those are the rooms you get for almost $400 per night! I booked a suite too - but we only got what seemed to be a standard room - it was not a suite at all - just a room tiny bathroom and an old soaker tub in the corner.

Overall, our stay was very comfortable. Our room was very spacious and clean. I did not like that the sink was in the common area outside of the bathroom, but we made due. The bathroom also needed a few minor upgrades. The hotel staff was very friendly but was often not at the front counter. The hotel is close enough to restaurants and shops that you can walk to, but not too close to hear a lot of foot traffic.

The neater gave off a terrible odor (it clearly had not been serviced or cleaned) and the gas fireplace didn't work. They moved us to a different room. That was better, but still a weird room. Lots of space given over to a jacuzzi tub--but no closet for hanging clothes, poor lighting, chintzy amenities. (I've never seen such tiny bath soap.) I asked for decaf coffee and a shower cap--they weren't sure they could provide them, though they did end up delivering both. And this was an expensive room! The staff tried to be accommodating, but the room was very disappointing given the steep price.

It’s a pretty funky place. Not pristine but not without a certain charm. They’d booked me into a room right off reception which was small and felt almost underground. I asked to be moved and they found me a much nicer, more private place upstairs for the same price which I super appreciated but you might want to specify if you’re booking a king room that it isn’t next to reception. The room I ended up in was fine but the only natural light was from the window that was public facing - the walkway everyone traverses to get to their room. As I didn’t love the idea of anyone passing by being able to look into my room so I kept the shutters closed which ended up feeling a little gloomy.

Location of property was good. Convenient walk to shops and restaurants. The Chantico Inn management of the property is very poor. During my stay there was only one person present on the property doing everything: running front desk, setting up continental breakfast, cleaning rooms, doing laundry. Whenever we needed help, she was not easily found. We had to call someone off the premise to intervene.

Check-in is 3pm, and I received a text asking my arrival time. I replied with 3:30-4:30pm, and upon arrival, there was no one to check me in, and when I did get help, the room was NOT ready. I waited approximately another 20 minutes, and my arrival was 4:30pm. I got into the room near 5pm. Once in the room, wet floors and fresh sheets were present, as well as a broken jacuzzi tub, a leaking sink, and not enough towels. I went down twice and ran the bell in the office on my second day and never got help. I had to flag down a housekeeper, and this place isn’t big. I wanted to mention the leaking sink and broken tub and broken screen upon checkout, but there was nobody to be found. I rang the bell twice, because i also wanted a receipt for my stay. I had prepaid with Expedia, since it was cheaper than paying through their online site. I never got a receipt. I was pulling out and finally saw the housekeeper and told her about the sink leak. Later on, I got a text asking about my satisfaction, and was honest. $400 a night- not worth it. Plus no customer service. I suddenly had personal texts from this same automated text number come in, unprofessional and saying that they were dealing with a large wedding party, working hard, and sort of saying I was small importance in comparison. Too bad. The place has a heated pool and cute tiles and you can walk all over Ojai. After my checkout, they tried to charge me for my stay again, then refunded me, but I still got charged an extra $54!

Overall, our stay was very comfortable. Our room was very spacious and clean. I did not like that the sink was in the common area outside of the bathroom, but we made due. The bathroom also needed a few minor upgrades. The hotel staff was very friendly but was often not at the front counter. For the cost we paid (admittedly 4th July), the value for money was easily the worst in any hotel in have ever stayed. Breakfast was mediocre at best, the hotel completely understaffed, facilities really not very clean (i.e. lack of staff)

Liked our stay here. Loved the closed in patio in front of our room, the wine hour, and cozy vibe. It was quiet and we walked to everything we wanted to do. Always a plus when streaming is available on the tv. Pool is so so and breakfast was bare bones pastry and cold cereal. Other than that- great

this hotel is in a good location, walkable to many shops and places to eat in a nice semi-rural town of ojai. we had a nice room#103, with frig. micro wave, coffee maker, big screen tv and it was clean with a good bed. the front desk agt. Johnathon was very helpful with check-in and info. on places to eat, etc. we booked this hotel because it has a nice jacuzzi and also included breakfast.

It was a good deal for the price. We needed two beds - we were able to book a room with a king and a queen, which was great! The AC was effective, which was important as CA was in the middle of a heat wave. The location is very good - walking distance to Bart's Books, downtown, and some great eateries. One thing travelers should know is that the parking lot is small and tight - we had to perform some fancy footwork with our minivan to get out. One thing I would like to call attention to is that either the gate to the pool doesn't have an auto-closer or that guests are propping the gate open. Younglings bent on destroying themselves could access the pool unintentionally.

Huge room with aircon and very comfortable. The inn was very beautiful and the pool and spa a welcome surprise to us! Perfect location to wonder into town and very close to the Libbey bowl where we had tickets to a concert. Lots going on there throughout the summer.
