This is the first European hotel I've stayed at in 30 years. Like pretty much all European hotels it's tiny. The toilet even more so. That being said, I loved it. Uneven spiral staircase, lift that only holds 2 people. It's so nice not being in a cookie cutter Hilton or other chain. We had a great breakfast and the proprieter served us home made marmalade. Sylvie, our propieter, was so gracious and helpful. She helped us figure out we didn't want to take the train to Paris when there was a strike and gave us a lot of insights on where to go. Wonderful host. I'd stay here again in a hot second. Also, go up the street away from Versailles palace and there are little mom and pop fruit stands and shops I didn't see till the last day.

Das Royal Hôtel ist äußerst günstig gelegen: nur 5 Minuten vom Bahnhof Rive Gauche und 10 Minuten vom Schloss entfernt. Restaurants und 2 kleine Supermärkte in unmittelbarer Nähe. Die Zimmer sind einfach und nicht üppig groß, doch ist alles Notwenige vorhanden. Praktisch ist der Aufzug - in älteren Hotels wie diesem nicht selbstverständlich. Das einfache 2Sterne-Haus lebt vor allem durch die familiäre Atmosphäre und den Charme und Freundlichkeit des Betreiberehepaars. Man wird persönlich angesprochen und bekommt zum reichhaltigen Frühstück hausgemachte Konfitüre serviert. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

If you have limited ability this is not a suitable venue, no entrance was level and we needed assistance to enter and exit the property my wife felt upset by it all. The manageress was extremely good but the hotel needs to make adjustments. The photo on Expedia was most misleading and will be very wary about future bookings

Good position to visit Versailles. Large car park 200 metres away that was quite reasonable for a long stay. Room was clean, bed comfortable. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Restaurants also 5 mins away, I would happily stay again.

This was the perfect stay, we could not have picked a better hotel in Versailles. The bedroom and bathroom were impeccably clean, the lobby was clean and cozy, the staff spoke English and were so helpful and nice. The train station is a 5 minute walk and the C train runs to Paris every 10 minutes. There are so many restaurants and patisseries in the area, the area felt very safe even at night. The palace was a 10 minute walk through a very cute park. The only thing I would have changed would be a more comfortable bed. The bed was very stiff, it was like sleeping on a stone slab with sheets. Other than that, everything was a 10/10 for us. If we make it back to France we'll be staying here again.

Owners of the hotel are very nice, and we wanted to like the room very much. The room was clean, the sheets were clean and ironed, the toilet room was clean, however the bathroom (although also visibly clean) had a terrible septic smell mixed with mold smell. When I looked up, the seam along the ceiling as well as some parts of the wall had what appeared to be a black mold. The room simply needs a thorough cleaning and renovation. I will not go back to this hotel.

While this is an older property, it’s impeccably clean and the owners are always onsite to assure a great stay. The bed was very comfortable. I was concerned when I saw the age of the hotel, but they’re obviously keeping up with mattresses! This hotel is a real value, only 10 minutes walk from the Chateau. And have their breakfast—tradition European breakfast and inexpensive.

Wonderful hotel with great proprietors, always a friendly welcome as we came and went. Room was large, by European standards, and a reasonably sized bathroom. Location is excellent, Versailles Palace just a few blocks away, as is the Rive Gauche train Station, Chantiers is about a 12 minute walk. Many Boulengeries and various restaurants, all within easy walking distance and the Notre Dame Market, only 10 minutes away, on the days it operates. Would definitely stay here again..

The staff was very nice and accommodating. We arrived early (before check-in) and they stored our luggage while we walked the area. The location was ideal and we felt very safe. The building was old, but that’s what you come to expect in Versailles. The room was adequate size for 2 people, bed was comfortable, and the shower had plenty of hot water. We would stay here again.

The staff couldn’t be friendlier and happy to help. The property is a bit tired but clean and everything works. Bed was comfortable, towels were soft and shower gel was nice. Within easy walking distance to the Palace of Versailles and the towns historical landmarks. We walked around the town and were fascinated by its history and architecture. Had a delicious dinner at Chez Lazare.

This was an excellent hotel in a wonderful location to visit the Palace of Versailles. They said it was an 8 minute walk to the Palace and they were right. The room was lovely, the breakfasts were superb with a lovely variety of items to eat - crossaints, pain au chocolat, meats and cheeses, orange juice, tea/coffee with even a piece of home made cake. The hosts, Philippe and Sylvie, were lovely and were very welcoming - it was my birthday so had a little card and Birthday decoration in our bedroom. They also helped my husband and I get back to the airport by organising a taxi to pick us up from the hotel for our return home. Overall a wonderful birthday spent in a lovely part of France, the Palace was beautiful and the hotel was great - an unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
