Airport transfer was easy and convenient, there were lots of places to sit and chill and the included breakfast was great. The buffet dinner options changed nightly - priced from 230-250 Rand for the nights we stayed. The relaxation massage was also reasonably priced at 260 Rand for half hour. We stayed for 1 night while passing through Johannesburg. The complimentary airport shuttle is convenient and our driver was very friendly. Upon arrival, our bags were taken to our room and we got a quick tour of the property. There is a breakfast buffet and dinner buffet, both of which offered variety and good quality food. The bar was well stocked as well. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and even helped us order UberEats delivery for lunch since they don’t provide lunch. We sat outside, ate lunch and had beers from the bar. The grounds are beautiful and felt safe. Our room was clean and minimal, but a nice place to stay after 24 hours of flying. The pool is heated, and while we didn’t use it, many people did and said how nice it was to have a warm pool to relax. We were incredibly happy with our stay, and would stay again if passing through Johannesburg.

The staff were friendly and welcoming at all stages. The room was big, very clean and with a comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style., with breakfast eggs cooked freshly to order. There’s a firepit, which is nice to sit round with a beer in the evening and there is also a bar and hot drinks also available. The place feels very secure and the gardens are full of lovely flowers. The pool is a reasonable size and very clean. There is noise from the airport which is only about 2km away but there are no overnight flights so your sleep isn’t disturbed. This was a really nice place to stay before flying out of JNB. It’s possible also to arrange tours from here. The team were also really accommodating about a late checkout (this is charged according to duration of stay). Highly recommended.

We stay only one night to rest from a long trip from the US. This hotel is close to the JBN airport and it was the best option for us to have dinner since we arrived at 7pm. The hotel has a nice restaurant, tempered pool, bar, and the service staff was great!

Bellissima guest house a 10min dall'aeroporto di JNB. Servizio di shuttle per l'aeroporto disponile su prenotazione. Dintorni della struttura non molto belli ma la struttura è molto sicura e appena si entra tutto cambia. Tantissimi fiori, aree verdi, piscina comune, palestra, ristorante e bar, SPA con massaggi. Camera molto grande e pulita, bagno con vasca e doccia. Cena e colazione a buffet con alternative dolci e salate. Peccato per un disguido con l'acqua calda, durante il nostro soggiorno non è mai stata disponibile per un guasto. Servizio SPA valido. Staff molto gentile, ci ha concesso il late check-out gratuito. Ottima soluzione per una notte vicino all'aeroporto.

Fantastic oasis in Kempton Park, conveniently close to the airport. Heated pool, best breakfast we had in our 3 weeks away, friendly staff, very safe property. We will definiteky stay again. They also do complementary pick ups and drop offs to the airport, a spa and also full and half day trips. This hotel is a great place, thank you for hosting us!

Sehr gut geführtes Guesthouse, sehr gepflegt mit vielen Pflanzen/Blumen. Ich hatte ein schönes renoviertes Zimmer mit riesigem Bad. Auf der Veranda ein bequemes Sofa. Netter Pool, schön warmes Wasser. Massagen im Spa sehr zu empfehlen! Die Besitzerin und die Mitarbeiter waren alle super nett und ich durfte mein Zimmer bis um 15 Uhr behalten. Der Shuttle ab und zum Flughafen hat reibungslos geklappt. Kommunikation ging per WhatsApp im Airport WLAN, falls man keine Daten gekauft hat. Frühstück war sehr gut, riesige Auswahl am Buffet. Kaffeeautomat für verschiedene Varianten. Man kann auch draußen sitzen. Das Restaurant ist interessant eingerichtet, z.T. schöne alte Möbel. Dinner konnte man auch dort buchen für 240 ZAR (Buffet), war auch sehr lecker mit Salaten, Hauptgerichten und Desserts. Gibt auch einen kleinen Laden mit netter Auswahl für letzte Mitbringsel. Zur Umgebung kann ich nichts sagen, da ich nur im Guesthouse war. Hab dort einen gemütlichen, erholsamen Urlaubstag vor der Rückreise in den deutschen Winter verbracht. Das Guesthouse ist wirklich sehr zu empfehlen.

The hotel staff were incredible, sent me a whats app before my arrival with clear instructions on the transfer and driver. The property is immaculately kept, with pretty gardens. The room was basic, but very confortable. The dinner (additional cost) was delicious, home cooked dishes, as well as dessert included. Breakfast was included in the rate, and as I was leaving early the staff organised take away breakfast for me, sandwiches, snacks, fruit and juice. All the food was fantastic. For the low price I paid for this one night stay, it far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend sun rock.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Every member of the staff was so friendly and helpful. Letty, Jackie, Tony and all the other wonderful people who made our star so great. The meals were delicious and plentiful, accommodations clean and modern. Nice cozy pool however use the railing. It’s slippery

On checking in we found a mouse on the bed. We reported it and it took 20 mins to get support with removing it, with 4 members of staff present it took us to do most the work in removing it. No apologies, though they did change the bedsheets. We found mouse droppings on the bed coverings and behind the wardrobe, so looks like it had been there a while. We asked to be changed rooms, which was refused as apparently fully booked. Without the mouse experience and poor customer service the hotel would have been a nice oasis in a rough part of Johannesburg. It does have a nice heated outside pool. If I had been paying 500 Rand, i would have been disappointed but not left a poor review, but at over 2000 Rand and apparently 4 star, I found the staff response poor.

From the time our shuttle driver testimony picked us up to the time. Tony dropped us back at the airport. We were 100% happy with our choice to stay at so I’m not guest house. The girls at the desk, the cleaning crew, the spotless, clean, comfy rooms. The natural beauty of the property were amazing! The breakfast buffet was unbelievable and we highly recommend you pay for the dinner buffet that they serve between seven and 8:15 in the evening. Solomon and his cooking crew prepared many delicious dishes. We highly recommend the chicken skewers. Coffee cappuccino espresso tea is available 24 hours. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay here, we stay two nights, but wish we were able to stay longer. Sun is just minutes from the airport. They have a huge dining area with pool table bar exercise rooms, and a gift shop. I don’t know where they find these amazing employees but every single person contributed to our very happy stay at Sun rock guesthouse. Highly highly recommend.

The guesthouse is close to the OR tambo airport with shuttle to/from provided. If plane noise is a problem, may not be the best location. The place is gated and security is well maintained. The inside of the grounds are well maintained as well and relaxing. Only stayed one night but would stay again.

I loved the quaintness if the place. The food is fantastic. The only problem is in winter, the rooms do not warm up. The room heater projects about a foot only with no way to raise temperature. But there is adequate blankets in the bed.

Picked up from the airport by Testimony- who then saw us all the way to our room. The room was clean and spacious and perfect for our short stay. Great shower and lovely toiletries. Had the buffet dinner- not the biggest array but all very tasty especially the fried chicken- excellent. Breakfast equally lovely, with eggs made to order. Enjoyed a tour with Tumi- great guy who was fun and energetic and informative. Overall totally recommend. All staff members were friendly and natural, grounds and hotel clean tidy and clearly cared for. Would be very happy to stay again. Thank you!! 😊

The hotel staff were incredible, sent me a whats app before my arrival with clear instructions on the transfer and driver. The property is immaculately kept, with pretty gardens. The room was basic, but very confortable. The dinner (additional cost) was delicious, home cooked dishes, as well as dessert included. Breakfast was included in the rate, and as I was leaving early the staff organised take away breakfast for me, sandwiches, snacks, fruit and juice. All the food was fantastic. For the low price I paid for this one night stay, it far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend sun rock.

The staff were friendly and welcoming at all stages. The room was big, very clean and with a comfortable bed. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style., with breakfast eggs cooked freshly to order. There’s a firepit, which is nice to sit round with a beer in the evening and there is also a bar and hot drinks also available. The place feels very secure and the gardens are full of lovely flowers. The pool is a reasonable size and very clean. There is noise from the airport which is only about 2km away but there are no overnight flights so your sleep isn’t disturbed. This was a really nice place to stay before flying out of JNB. It’s possible also to arrange tours from here. The team were also really accommodating about a late checkout (this is charged according to duration of stay). Highly recommended.

Very tropical feel, great breakfast. All ground floor rooms, very friendly & helpful staff. Free airport shuttle bus. No fridge, no AC, only veiling fan? Bathroom/ toilet has no windows. Bad noise insulation rooms. Small souvenir shop.

Prise en charge par la navette de l’hôtel directement à notre à notre arrivée et dépose le lendemain à l’aéroport pour prise en compte de la voiture de location. Chauffeur très sympa. Pas d’accueil de la réception. Vu l’heure. Chambre au calme, propre, fonctionnelle mais extrement froide en hiver. Le petit chauffage de la taille d’un timbre poste fait décoration. La salle de bain est glaciale. Eau chaude dans la douche. Petit déjeuner dans une salle très bien décorée mais qui présente le désavantage d’être séparée du buffet et amène donc à des déplacements avec les boissons et aliments + 2 ouverture de baie vitrée. Bon séjour pour une nuit. Très pratique avec la navette. Personnel serviable et souriant. Je recommande pour les personnes non frileuses en hiver.

This place is a little gem right by the airport. First of all, their communication with me beforehand was amazing in the details the provided for the shuttle (pictures of drivers, car, license plate, place to meet)! When I called them that I was ready for my shuttle, they were there at the airport within 10 minutes to get me. The breakfast was absolutely delightful and delicious with a huge variety of options. The ambiance was fantastic with so much greenery and colorful flowers making even the small space look beautiful. I rarely bother to leave reviews for places, but this one absolutely deserves it.

The room was not so spacious, but it was clean, and we had a comfortable stay. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance. The staff were very friendly, and the airport shuttle service was helpful. However, the one thing we didn’t like was that the staff member who picked us up from the airport persistently urged us to sign up for a one-day or half-day tour of Johannesburg, even after arriving at the guesthouse. We eventually joined a half-day tour, but the experience was quite different from what had been explained beforehand. At the end, we were asked to make a donation to a facility for underprivileged children, which felt semi-forced, and we suspect the money went into his pocket. There are many travel companies offering such tours, and we think it would be better to join one of them instead.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Every member of the staff was so friendly and helpful. Letty, Jackie, Tony and all the other wonderful people who made our star so great. The meals were delicious and plentiful, accommodations clean and modern. Nice cozy pool however use the railing. It’s slippery

On checking in we found a mouse on the bed. We reported it and it took 20 mins to get support with removing it, with 4 members of staff present it took us to do most the work in removing it. No apologies, though they did change the bedsheets. We found mouse droppings on the bed coverings and behind the wardrobe, so looks like it had been there a while. We asked to be changed rooms, which was refused as apparently fully booked. Without the mouse experience and poor customer service the hotel would have been a nice oasis in a rough part of Johannesburg. It does have a nice heated outside pool. If I had been paying 500 Rand, i would have been disappointed but not left a poor review, but at over 2000 Rand and apparently 4 star, I found the staff response poor.

Sehr gut geführtes Guesthouse, sehr gepflegt mit vielen Pflanzen/Blumen. Ich hatte ein schönes renoviertes Zimmer mit riesigem Bad. Auf der Veranda ein bequemes Sofa. Netter Pool, schön warmes Wasser. Massagen im Spa sehr zu empfehlen! Die Besitzerin und die Mitarbeiter waren alle super nett und ich durfte mein Zimmer bis um 15 Uhr behalten. Der Shuttle ab und zum Flughafen hat reibungslos geklappt. Kommunikation ging per WhatsApp im Airport WLAN, falls man keine Daten gekauft hat. Frühstück war sehr gut, riesige Auswahl am Buffet. Kaffeeautomat für verschiedene Varianten. Man kann auch draußen sitzen. Das Restaurant ist interessant eingerichtet, z.T. schöne alte Möbel. Dinner konnte man auch dort buchen für 240 ZAR (Buffet), war auch sehr lecker mit Salaten, Hauptgerichten und Desserts. Gibt auch einen kleinen Laden mit netter Auswahl für letzte Mitbringsel. Zur Umgebung kann ich nichts sagen, da ich nur im Guesthouse war. Hab dort einen gemütlichen, erholsamen Urlaubstag vor der Rückreise in den deutschen Winter verbracht. Das Guesthouse ist wirklich sehr zu empfehlen.

We were very pleased with the property as well as the free and flexible shuttle service to and from the airport that was provided. A big bonus was the tour we took with Tumi, who led a very skilled and informative look into Jo'burg and Soweto. HIGHLY recommended.

The guesthouse is close to the OR tambo airport with shuttle to/from provided. If plane noise is a problem, may not be the best location. The place is gated and security is well maintained. The inside of the grounds are well maintained as well and relaxing. Only stayed one night but would stay again.

Sunrock Guest house was great for an overnight staff. The staff is friendly and efficient. Only drawback is lack of restaurants in the general area and the fact you should not be walking in the area at night.

I wanted a safe, comfortable place to stay for one night near the airport. Sunrock was an excellent choice! The free shuttle was fast and efficient. The room was excellent. The staff were friendly and professional. They arranged a trip to Soweto for me which was also very good. The food was great also. All in all I am very happy with Sunrock and I highly recommend it! I would certainly stay here again.

Dintorni della struttura non molto belli ma la struttura è molto sicura e appena si entra tutto cambia. Tantissimi fiori, aree verdi, piscina comune, palestra, ristorante e bar, SPA con massaggi. Camera molto grande e pulita, bagno con vasca e doccia. Cena e colazione a buffet con alternative dolci e salate. Peccato per un disguido con l'acqua calda, durante il nostro soggiorno non è mai stata disponibile per un guasto. Servizio SPA valido. Staff molto gentile, ci ha concesso il late check-out gratuito. Ottima soluzione per una notte vicino all'aeroporto.

Beautiful small hotel near the airport with free shuttle service. The grounds are very beautiful! The staff were helpful and considerate. The dinner and breakfast were also very good and well prepared. The area outside the walls of the hotel looked pretty scary, but we felt very safe within it's walls. It is truly an oasis within the surrounding chaos.

Close to the airport. This is a 4 star property with a free shuttle and a beautifful property. My travel agent was trying to sell me on a 5 star hotel that was going to cost triple. I was very happy I stayed here. I would definitely stay again if I came back to Johannesburg!

I had read really good reviews about this hotel when I booked, and it did not disappoint. They really make real effort to make sure their guests have a pleasant experience. The hotel is very well maintained and puts most big chain hotels to shame with its decorations. Their airport shuttle was easy to use. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice. The food was very good. I would just suggest more vegetarian and vegan options and to have them labeled with ingredients. Highly recommend this hotel!!!

No good choices for kids, so we ended up ordering in, which was fine. For breakfast we left too early and they were great in preparing breakfast packs for each of us.

We stayed for 1 night while passing through Johannesburg. The complimentary airport shuttle is convenient and our driver was very friendly. Upon arrival, our bags were taken to our room and we got a quick tour of the property. There is a breakfast buffet and dinner buffet, both of which offered variety and good quality food. The bar was well stocked as well. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and even helped us order UberEats delivery for lunch since they don’t provide lunch. We sat outside, ate lunch and had beers from the bar. The grounds are beautiful and felt safe. Our room was clean and minimal, but a nice place to stay after 24 hours of flying. The pool is heated, and while we didn’t use it, many people did and said how nice it was to have a warm pool to relax. We were incredibly happy with our stay, and would stay again if passing through Johannesburg.

The pool is heated, and while we didn’t use it, many people did and said how nice it was to have a warm pool to relax. We were incredibly happy with our stay, and would stay again if passing through Johannesburg.

The ladies on the front desk were really kind and courteous and made us feel really welcome. We had dinner for two nights at the hotel which was a buffet so not ideal but still delicious. There is a heated swimming pool, which was lovely given the weather. The hotel can also arrange for numerous short distance trips, such as ones to Pretoria or Soweto, which is what we did. There is no air-conditioning in the room, but the ventilation through openable windows and ceiling fan was perfectly adequate. Amenities available were shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, hand soap, and air freshener in the bathroom . In addition to the wonderful staff, the gardens of the hotel were beautiful and really added to the ambience of our stay.

Fixed menu buffet dinner was offered. At 7pm the soup was finished and not replenished and also some vegetables. The grilled pork chops were hard and dry. The guesthouse was full so quantity of food was badly miscalculated

The staff was very communicative and help me resolve an issue with my booking when Expedia couldn’t. They picked my family up directly from the airport because our flight got in late and they even made us sandwiches because everything was closed. The facility was beautiful overall and the staff went over the top to be helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was just excellent, I’ve never had food so good.

Transfer was great. Place is intimate and very clean. Breakfast was very good. The price was too expensive however but I did stay there twice. I’d recommend as it felt safe and close to airport but don’t expect a deal.

Lovely stay before returning home. Easy to get to/ from airport. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms and a lovely communal area where you can relax and have a drink or chill before heading back to airport. Great shuttle service too. They do a buffet dinner but if you dont want it they are happy for you to order food in.

The staff were so kind and helpful, the rooms were beautiful and clean, and breakfast was amazing! When I come back to Africa, yes I fell in love, I will stay longer at Sunrock and enjoy the place more! Thank you to all the staff!

This is a gorgeous little oasis. Food was absolutely top notch (must get dinner buffet here!). Staff were so friendly and attentive. Nicely priced spa and gift shop. All 4 people agreed this was our best stay in Africa.
