Quality Inn & Suites Mattoon South

The property is in renovation mode, so there is a little detraction there, but the new look is very nice. Room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was more than adequate and I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past three years and have enjoyed my stay every time. I will stay there again the next time I am in Mattoon!

Need to tell what the pet fee is upfront no material says what the fee is.

No pool. Website didn't say it was out of order. Why do hotels do this? People like pools and will actively reserve hotels for the pool time in summer. Your site easily could have posted a "pool out of order until further notice."

Though the property is still under construction the property is well maintained and clean.

Ridiculous that’s it’s 25 dollars per dog to stay. They sleep on the floor don’t eat the food and we are paying for the hotel as people. We could have boarded them for the night if we wanted to pay for them to stay somewhere. Plus it’s not advised clearly that’s there’s a pet fee. You put in number of adults and children no pets at the time of booking

Pet friendly, staff nice, room could use a bit of sprucing up but pretty clean. Surrounding grounds could use some clean up.

Outdoor pool

The outdoor pool area was very nice grand daughter really enjoyed it! The facilities are clean . Beds were comfortable. Good Stay

The hotel staff were all pleasant. My room except for the bathroom was clean and comfortable. The bathroom floor was sticky and in need of a good scrubbing. The bath tub floor was gray/dirty. I washed it before stepping into the tub. I reported the bathroom cleanliness to the clerk when I checked out. She apologized and said the had new cleaning staff but would make sure the situation was addressed with the cleaning crew.

Hotel was very clean and in good repair, would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in the area looking for a clean comfortable bed.

We made our reservation for the Matoon IL hotel. When the elevator door opened on the second floor, the moldy mildew smell hit you in the face immediately. We gave it the benefit of the doubt and went to our assigned room, which was room 226. I opened the door and the moldy smell was so bad, my nose immediately became congested. I asked my husband to go down and see if there was another room available because I knew with my allergies, I could not sleep in that room, nobody should sleep in that room.  While he was down trying to get our room switched, I did my routine inspection of the bed. I do this at every hotel, checking for bed bugs. When I pulled the mattress back on both queen beds, I was REPULSED!  There was food, hair and god knows what else. I took pictures right away.  My husband came back with our new room, which was only a couple doors down, room 332. I opened that room and the same moldy smell was present in that room. I went to take a shower and the bath tub was filthy, the floor was even more filthy, we had no towels and had to call down to the front desk for some. There was a leak in the bathroom ceiling.  This is inexcusable and whoever is in charge of quality control and maintenance is FAILING!  We were supposed to stay two nights but I woke up wheezing and congested. There was no way we could stay again. We ended up cutting our weekend short. I will NEVER stay at another Choice Hotel again! Sincerely, Disgusted guest

Room was dirty. Plug in air fresheners throughout hotel which was way too strong smelling. Paid for two nights, left after one night.

The original room they gave me had used coffee pot with coffee still in it. There was water beside the sink and a puddle of water inside the cabinet underneath sink. Bathroom sink is clogged (water not going down). Strands of hair in the sink. They moved me to another room with 2 queen beds. One of the beds looked like the sheets were already used. It had wrinkles and lots of kinks. The other was fine… smooth, flat and fitted.

hotel was clean, breakfast was great! perfect for the family

The staff was welcoming and friendly but the bathroom (both tub and toilet) were not clean. Additionally, the continental breakfast was almost inedible.

This property is old. The hallways are dark, and not clean. The air conditioner in our room did not work, and the room was musty smelling. Would not recommend this hotel!

Needs some maintenance done in some of the rooms. The shower head sprayed water everywhere or else it didn’t have pressure if someone else down the hall was using it.

Clean and quiet — great stop for our road trip

The young lady at the desk when I checked in was awesome. The room was functional - but lived in. The plug in the tub was broken. The toilet was a runner and the wifi was not great. It was convenient and quiet and not bad. For the price I paid - I'd stay again,

The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very quiet which is important to us. The beds were very comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel after a long days traveling.

When I stayed here, I wasn’t anticipating what I saw. All the hotels in the area were expensive due to a IHSA meet. So I had to settle for a two or three star hotel, of which I usually don’t do. To my surprise when I got to the hotel, it was very clean, nice and spacious. I was particularly surprised when I arrived at my suite. It was gorgeous two queen beds, modern bedding, and frame extremely clean with the exception of a couple of dead flies on the windowsill, but that’s OK. The bathroom was really nice and modern. The living room area has very clean. Brand new black leather couch and chair. The wood furniture was a beautiful light gray wood, very new. There was also a kitchen in which all the appliances were updated, clean and modern . The appliances consisted of a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and double sink. This was actually better than a Marriott. I had stayed in in Oak Brook.

The facility is updated and well cared for. The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was generous and fresh. We really enjoyed our stay!

Walls are too thin. We could hear the neighbors tv until late in the night. The place wasn’t so full that patrons could have been assigned to every other room. Nice facility otherwise.

Terrific staff that was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was an easy drive over to EIU for our visit to Charleston. And the front desk team’s restaurant recommendations were awesome.

My second night there, I had an employee of the hotel enter my room at 430 in the morning. “Making sure I was there”. The internet would not connect to my computer so I had to run my hotspot off my phone the entire week. Overall terrible week, will never stay at a comfort in again.

The Front Desk person had very poor skills. She was outside smoking as we waited at the front desk. After coming inside, she could barely type - it took 20 minutes for a simple check-in. Room was clean, check-in was bad. She also double charged me for the rooms and I'm still trying to get that settled.

Staff was great and friendly

I booked a double queen suite through Orbitz and called the hotel twice to confirm my reservation and they sent me email directly to confirm I had the suite with confirmation number and full details. On the day of arrival on my way there during afternoon I get a phone call from hotel stating they don't have any suite available for me and manager was rude and unprofessional on the phone as I mentioned to him I have written confirmation from them and I spoke to the front desk twice. He didn't seem to care and said best they could do is a standard room instead. given it was late had no other option. but to take it and they comped the room to make the goof up which was the only good part. will never stay there again.

The property cancelled our three day reservation without notifying us leaving my family without a place to stay at 10 pm. Then refused to refund our money, worst service ever.

The property is fine and the people at the hotel are fine. The coordination or business procedures between Expedia and the hotel were sadly lacking! We had made our reservations through Expedia and had prepaid. We had documentation from Expedia that we were fully paid, but they had no idea about our transaction. They did their best to deal with it, and luckily they had rooms available. If they had been full of other guests, we would have been in sorry shape, scrambling to find other accommodations despite having the proof that we had already paid for their room in full. Better get this fixed!

Kind, helpful front desk personnel. Facility was clean & well kept. Newly remodeled. Paid half the price m and liked it better than the Marriott Suites we stayed at the night before. Highly recommend. Easy on & off hwy 57. Nice self serve Breakfast starting at 6:30am is included. Overall, we will definitely be back. Clean, comfortable bed & room.

The location is unsettling

The room was updated and nice for the cost. The staff was friendly. The property is a couple miles from the main part of town so you are driving everywhere but they have done a good job updating and I would stay there again. It would be great in the summer with the outdoor pool

Choose to the arch and easy to drive to downtown STL. Staff was friendly. Not much right around the hotel.

Very good value and location worked well for us

The property and facilities have recently been updated and is a beautiful place to stay. Outside decor and chairs greet you. Very unique for a hotel. Inside is bright and the staff were more than accommodating. Many restaurants just a few minutes away.

Location was convenient to the interstate but limited dining in the area.

We were really surprised at what a quality hotel this is. The hallways are very nice, the rooms really nice. The price very reasonable. It doesn't have restaurants nearby - only a McDonalds. But at the other Mattoon exit (4 miles away) there are plenty of nice restauarans.

The motel was quiet and clean, which always a top priority for me. The only negative was the very unappetizing breakfast with the styrofoam plates and the tiny, flimsy plastic forks and knives. Really a terrible breakfast experience, plus the blaring top 40 music that no one really wants to hear.

Breakfast wasn't as good as the pictures showed. Most people put something on their toast but the hotel didn't have any butter or jam/jelly. The only thing to put on the toast was spray butter which was a fair amount of time to spritz the toast. The one working the food area was the one working the front desk and acted like I was bothering him when I asked for Jam or forks to eat with. Not sure how they could run out of something that usually doesn't expire.

Water pressure in bathroom sink very poor. Breakfast on Saturday morning didn’t start until 6:30 and our group usually leaves at 6am.

Hotel was recently remodeled and was modern, clean, and quiet. Breakfast had a large selection to choose from and it was delicious!! The front desk and staff were so nice and helpful and everything made for a wonderful travel experience! Than you so much!

The staff was wonderful, the room and the whole hotel was super clean…and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and homemade too. Real scrambled eggs and sausage. I would absolutely recommend this place!
