Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Alvarado by IHG

The property is run down. There is a moldy, musty smell and the carpets are stained and dirty. I felt like the front desk staff was doing the best they could to keep people happy and were professional. The property is not at all on brand with my experiences with the Holiday Inn Express. I have stayed at them all over the world. I ended up leaving this property and changed to Hampton Inn.

The safe was gracious and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. beds were amazingly comfortable. The overall property was grungy, they have construction workers staying there, which isn’t a problem but the carpets are dingy, greasy filthy. That’s all.

Overall, our visit was okay. The hotel was older in appearance than we thought. The rooms didn't have some of the amenities that we have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. The water pressure in the bathroom sink was terrible. The sink was clogged, so it drained slowly. The shower leaked and got water all over the floor. The humidity in the room was so bad that the floor in the bathroom never really dried, the carpet felt cold and damp and the window a/c unit ran all the time but never got rid of the humidity. The breakfast buffet had many choices and good hours of operation, but the food was not up to par with other Holiday Inn's that we have stayed with. The food wasn't as hot, when something ran out, they didn't replace it very fast and overall, the food wasn't that good. The staff was very friendly, check-in and check-out were a breeze and the location was very convenient. Parking was good, as we came in late one night and still found places to park. The room was kept clean and fresh towels were left each day. This facility has a work-out room that my husband frequented each day. We were within walking distance of several restaurants, which was nice that we didn't have to drive to get something to eat. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give it a 7.

The room was damp both nights. The carpet was not clean and tiles in the bathroom were cracked and need to be replaced.

Horrible experience. Elevator didn’t work the entire time so we had to use the stairs for the 3rd level. Extremely loud rooms, dirty floors and not enough towels for 2 people. Exit doors leaving the building did not work. Did not feel safe at all at this establishment.
