Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/U.S. Capitol

Enjoy this hotel. The location was superb. The only issue I had was the valet parking. Not efficient at times.

Valet parking is a joke, so hard to get in and out, very expensive and not convenient at all. Had to call the desk twice to open the pool for my kids because it was not opened during the hours posted on all the signs, false fire alarm also went off around 8:45 in the morning during our stay.

The hotel was okay for a long weekend. But there were several problems. In our room, the sink handle was broken a wouldn't shut the water flow off unless it was in the exact right position. The toilet handles also would need to be jiggled after flushing to stop running. We were also underwhelmed by the pool and hot tub, which was more like a luke-warm tub. Worst of all was when one of the elevators went out of service, resulting in long waits and tight trips to the ground floor. Our stay wasn't wholly terrible, but the hotel could be much improved.

Room was spacious, clean , location is excellence , but the parking is not available just valet and is expensive, which wasn’t mentioned when we booked the hotel , luckily public parking is close by and affordable, the other thing water in the room was $3:00 USD which we found that expensive for us Canadian .

The pool area was in poor shape. It needed additives of some sort as the water was very cloudy. The plug and light close to one bed did not function. The breakfast buffet was horrible for the price of $23. I would not recommend this hotel.

The building itself and inside the rooms were actually quite nice; very clean, fairly nice staff, very nice diner on the second floor. My only issue was with the valet. There was typically only one person working valet at a time and quite a few times, they were a bit slow

Everything was fine. The room clean and spacious. The rail station, restaurants, and attractions all in easy walking distance. The only problem was the laundry machine was out of order and wasn't fixed in the 3 days I stayed there.

Only one elevator for too many guests... long waiting time

The bed was surprisingly nice. The staff was really great and checked in. The room was much larger than expected and the location was close to the metro and supermarket. The bad. Breakfast was expensive even for hotel breakfasts. The cost far more than what you pay for. Order food elsewhere. The Peloton bike was broken. As was most of the exercise equipment. Even though it is on the floor with staff no one is caring for the equipment. Children were in there missing equipment for example. The pool is nice but relatively small. The hot tub was nice.

I came to visit family! Nur was amazing, I arrived super early but Nur accommodated me without any hesitation! The house keeping was amazing. The hotel smelled cleaned, looked clean and was very clean!

Clean, friendly, great service, nice indoor pool, welcoming lobby and good coffee! I highly recommend!

The bathroom was pretty bad really need to ensure that toilets are cleaned thoroughly it was disgusting

From the moment we arrived in our room, we were disappointed with the hotel. The room has a visible layer of dust on the furniture and fresh stains on the carpet. We weren’t even sure if the sheets had been changed from the last guest, as there were hairs in the bed. It was gross. For a Hilton property, we were very astonished. We had to keep called the front desk daily because housekeeping would not refill or change basic things (towels, etc) and the ice bucket never once got a new bag (we were there for six days). When we talked to the front desk about the cleaning issues in the room, the staff just said, “Yah, that sounds right.” The hotel isn’t shocked by the negative responses from their guests, but they aren’t fixing things that are off-brand. It’s too bad, because the location is great, but the hotel stay left much to be desired.

I liked that there was a grocery store & Metro close by. What I didn't like was the mattress in my room was terrible! My husband & I both about rolled out of the bed on both sides,headboard had worn spots, thought it was bugs; blood or other dirt on bathrm door. The wallpaper in bathrm is peeling. The maids didn't clean counter in bathrm 2 days. hairspray residue on counter. Fridge had a leg missing, each time it was opened we had to push it into slot. Never heard a sweeper ran at all. Couch dirty & sagged, no support, desk chair was broken & husband almost flipped when sat in it. Curtains dirty where people have pushed back & one of the rods was broken up so high I couldn't reach it to pull curtain. Main door had over an inch gap to the hallway, would feed smoke into room if ever a fire! The tv kept scrambling for some reason. Several times when we were leaving or returning the water container in the lobby was empty, had to ask if they were going to refill and one day H2O there but no cups. I didn't find the staff all that friencly or helpful and the maids can't speak English. We're in US, please learn to speak our language. You came here to work, learn enough to communicate. They just nod & don't have a clue what is said. I thought after I left I should have taken photos. Vanguard needs to do some upgrades at this hotel if the other rooms are as bad as ours was! I would give this hotel about a 3-4 on a scale of 10 just because of it being dirty, not well kept

Our room had no body wash in the container, shampoo for two showers, a moldy shower curtain and dirty carpeting. Staff was pleasant and accommodating when flagged but these are things I shouldn’t have had to ask to be resolved. Area was close to a sketchy neighborhood and beggars were always on the street.

The furniture in the room was dirty and stained. Clearly needs to be removed and replaced. The bathroom on entry smelled horrible. Someone used it minutes before our arrival. Staff needs to check the sheets, they were stained grey.

The hotel could be in better conditions the furniture in the lobby is old and ripped. There was a roach in our room that crawled on my mothers face the second night we we were there. I liked that the front desk gave us a complimentary breakfast because of this inconvenience and he didnt even apologize it. I lioed that they had refreshement waters with fruit in it though.

Nice area with Harris Teeter grocery store right by it and room offers a fridge and microwave. Room was very spacious and bed super comfortable. Will stay here again.

Backboard was ripped up. Red stain in the carpet. Toilet paper roll was far away from the toilet.

Spacious room. Close to groceries, restaurant, metro station. Very convenient. Room inside is a little dated. Only one chair by the desk. No other seatings besides the bed. Staff are friendly and responsive. Good place to stay for family.

The Staff at this Hotel were so truly nice and did all they could to assist. That stated, we never could get the room temperature issues resolved... even after moving rooms twice. Thermostats are restricted to 74 and allegedly, there are motion sensors that restrict the unit from coming on without movement in the room. So, you come back to a raging hot room at the end of the day and try to cool it before bed and then it gets raging hot again when you sleep because the sensors don't detect enough movement. The only thing that saved this stay, were the super sweet Staff members that did their best to try to assist...

King suite was spacious. Staff was very helpful and attentive, friendly too. Our room was extremely quiet. We slept well. We had one meal in the restaurant and it was good.

The area is great, walkable to a lot of restaurants, as well as union station. Stayed in the king suite, which looked like it was in need of cleaning and repair. Headboard had several mysterious rips and stains. Couch looked sus af, was worn and discolored. Maybe other rooms are ok or it just happened to be my room, but these factors made me nervous about the overall cleanliness of the room.

Limited business center (1 computer available). Room bathroom was not cleaned properly. Room illumination was poor. Air conditioner very noisy.

Arrived late night and the front desk is accommodating. But I didn’t get the King room I booked and gave me a 2 queen bed room instead, front desk is claiming all rooms were taken, but how come that happened if I booked the room 2 montgs in advance. Just means they are double booking. Aircon is very noisy, no conditioner in the bathroom but available upon request. Would be nice if you guests doesn’t need to ask. However, Allen, the lobby attendant was amazing. He goes beyond to help guests and accommodates requests very quickly. Location wise - it is quite far from the attractions but 5-6 mins walk to NoMa station if you like commuting. Overall it was an okay stay - I would likely skip this hotel on my next DC trip.

The entire staff was amazing.. from Candice at the front desk, to Millie at breakfast. We were extremely pleased with the service and kindness of the staff.

Awesome staffs who jumped in to help me quickly and ensure I get what I need. They were able to let me book another night at last min and keep the same room. Awesome front desk staffs!

Candice was very rude and very passive aggressive . I called and asked who was I speaking to you so I can properly address them about a concern and the front desk agent (who name I still do not know ) responded with “ Who I am speaking to” I was so taken back and appalled I asked for a manager immediately. Once transferred , I spoke about the interaction and instead of addressing the issues she asked me what can she help me with . I repeated that’s what I wanted to address and she responded she didn’t have time for this and transferred me to corporate. The level of disrespect and lack of customer service and hospitality is not okay. A name should have been given during the greeting when she answered the phone. Granted it may not be policy but once asked , I don’t understand in what world of hospitality you refuse your name and ask the guest name instead like you provide free services . It just felt so uncomfortable and like my money wasn’t appreciated and it was rent due . Customer service and hospitality should be provided with everyone that represents Hilton . Not just senior leaders . It took away my whole experience with the hotel. None of my channels was working and I had to ask for hand soap. I was going to let that go because of the other amenities but the rude , nasty customer service I received took all that away.

What a great stay I had! Was able to walk to different local coffee shops each day, felt safe! Used rideshares sometimes and was always easy to book a ride. Hotel has great amenities, I used the fitness center daily. Things were restocked each day. Had long days and was able to come back to my room with quiet and peace. Hotel area was always clean. Check-in and check-out was easy. Thank you for my wonderful stay during my trip to DC. Will definitely book again if back in DC in the future.

We’ve stayed many times at this hotel and during this stay, the woman at the front desk was very curt and rude. I gave my name and the reservation was under my husband’s name which caused a delay. While I was pulling up my confirmation e-mail, your employee was abrupt and disgusted with me. She continued on to tell me that she should not get a bad review because it was me who gave the wrong check in name. I think her name was Este or something like that and she is a person that I will avoid in the future.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. When I checked my CC I discovered that they charged twice for the first night. I sent an email and asked explanation, but no answer yet. Today is 3/27/25, and they charged for 3/21/25. How long should I wait for the answer?

So, the first night we arrived it took forever to check in because apparantly the guy who checked in before us went to his room and found the dog of a different guest in his room?! So we had to wait like 30 mins before getting checked in. I went to the hotel with my fiancee and our 2 kids and when I booked I initally requested a conjoined room. I called the day of my arrival to confirm we had that and we did not, but the attendant switched us to a conjoined room. Fast forward, when we got to our room, the toilet in my kids room did not flush. So I called downstairs and he said he would send someone up. We waited 30 minutes and no one came so we went downstairs to see what was going on and he says maintenance is gone for the day. Then why did you just tell us you would send someone up? We waited and waited. Mind you it was 1 am. So then they switch our rooms. The rooms they switch us to are not connected...even though that was our specific request. At this point it was so late and we were so tired we just decided to stay in the new un-connected rooms. The next day, I tell the manager about all that occured around our check-in and he says all he can do is offer us $50 off valet parking. Not even fully discount it. Then, on the day it was time for us to leave the attendant checking us out says the manager never even noted this $50 discount but she decided to take my word and honor it anyway. Worst check-in experience ever! Did not see it coming from Hilton. We travelled in June. We had reserved two rooms through single Expedia booking since we were travelling with one more family. Called one day prior to confirm if we could checkin little late for two rooms. Arrived ~10pm and started the check-in process.\xa0 Staff at the front desk asked for CC and ID proof. Made sure payment for one room goes through. Then called second staff to start check-in for the second room. Surprize surprize, second room check in staff says second room is not available.\xa0 I get it that hotels can be overbooked and they may need to bump out some reservation if it's overbooked. In this case, staff deliberately did not share this info during check-in for the first room and only shared it once payment for first room went through. Since one room payment had been deducted we had no option but to take one room and the other room had to be in a different hotel. So much for booking multiple rooms via expedia.\xa0 Staff made no attempt to explain the situation or why they behaved the way they did. In fact they were defending their\xa0behaviour as if everything was as per protocol. We called and confirmed with expedia that we indeed had both rooms under the same\xa0reservation. They were not sure why hotel would say otherwise.\xa0 Would highly recommend staying away from this hotel.

Great location in proximity to Union station, Capital and transportation. Food options, especially if you enjoy walking, are close by.

Very convenient to Amtrak and metro. Enjoyed exploring the neighborhood, but the front of the hotel is a little sketchy. Breakfast is terrible.

The staff does what they can with their location. I understand not being able to force undesirables out of the area. But the place seems to be a draw for beggars, thugs, and addicts. I’d give them a 4 but in reality it’s a bit lower because of the aforementioned.

Good location, metro station round the corner, union station about an 8mins walk straight down. Very walkable. About 5-8mins drive into the DC very good location. Has a huge store Harris Steeter where you can food shop. All around perfect location

This was a great hotel in a great location. Stayed with two kids aged 12 and 14, rooms were spacious and the staff were friendly. Best attribute was the location. Very central, supermarket next door and super close to the station. Would happily stay here again

Property located near metro, grocery store two doorways down, and cvs across the street. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Great location for metro (2 minute walk, Union Station very next stop!) and bus (right there). Grocery store and CVS 30 seconds from hotel. Many fast food options within walking. Be sure to check out Union market, about 15 options under one roof. Bed very comfortable as well as pillows. 2 pillow choices. Our 1 king bedroom was very big. Plenty of towels that were actually a pleasure to use and shower with good pressure. Refrigerator, microwave and safe. Did not use restaurant, bar, pool, gym. All staff encounters were polite and helpful.

The location is more than a mile from the Capitol. I'm comfortable walking, but not everyone with business on Capitol Hill will be eater to stay here. For me, a pure value play. Bonus: good-size grocery store right next door for travelers who want to buy a few yogurts, juice bottle, and snacks. Surrounding dining options are quick service: sandwich shop, pizzeria, and a Mediterranean restaurant.

Area around the hotel felt sketchy and unsafe. No good restaurants around.

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on an overnight DC adventure with our grandson, 12 years old. The staff was very helpful, everything was very clean, the restaurant was great - the food and very friendly staff, the NoMa-Gallaudet Metro station is right around the corner and we had a wonderful stay! We will stay again in the future! Thank you!

The hotel was clean and the staff were great, the prices were a little high for the meals at the hotel especially the breakfast buffet. It was an overall good location and stay. Also I did not know until the email 2 days before about the parking situation but there was a parking garage 2 blocks away that was cheaper than the nightly valet. My family and I had a great time.

About breakfast is very limit, the same things every single day

Staff was wonderful. Toilet didn't work.Maintenance was there 3 times. Had to go down to use bathroom on restaurant level twice. The upholstered chair in room was dirty. TRied to eat in restaurant. Tried twice. no one there.

The staff was very accommodating and granted us early check in. Restaurant service was outstanding. Food was delicious.

We had a good stay . It was a quiet hotel . There was a sub shop and a coffee shop nearby . The only thing we didn’t like was them wanting to place a 100 per day hold on our card at check in . Especially when i had called prior to checkin and was told they didn’t hold any money . But the front desk man was great and waived the fee for us . We ate in the restaurant once . It was expensive and not very good.

An excellent stay. Large spacious room with a king bed. Room and bathroom both nice and clean. Very friendly staff and quick check-in. $100 per night holding deposit required. Room has a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. A pretty good buffet breakfast for $24.95, but you can also have cooked to order. Nice comfortable bed and pillows. A good sleep, nice and quiet. Good hot water and water pressure. Fantastic location in a wonderful part of the city - NoMa. Great bars and restaurants around. Good supermarket next door with food options. 8 to 12 minute walk to Union Station. Walkable to the US Capitol, White House etc, or a short Uber ride. Metro station around the corner. Definitely stay again!

This hotel got such high ratings, and I am surprised. It was so outdated and looked nothing like the online photos. The breakfast buffet was absolutely horrible. For me and two kids it was $63.00! The staff were super nice and helpful though so I hated to complain. I really wish this site would update its photos and people would give honest reviews. I wouldn’t recommend this Hilton.

Breakfast was excellent. My son prefers oatmeal over the grits that were out. The cook was kind enough to make some oatmeal for him.
