Good stay, friendly staff and very good restaurent

Unfortunately we had a similar experience to others. Arriving on Sunday we received a message on Friday asking if we would like a table for dinner. I emailed back to say yes please. Upon our arrival on Sunday we were told quite bluntly that there would be no restaurant open due to an event on in another part of the hotel. Presumably the event wasn't spontaneous. To make the experience even more professional we received a reply to my email AFTER having checked in. And predictably no reply to my follow up request for a drink whilst we booked our own taxi to town. I would expect any hotel to honour the expectations they set. The failure points were objectively failing to communicate the issue when just two days before check in we were asked if we wanted a table. Secondly not even the bar was open, whilst we walked past countless bottles of wine. Thirdly to consciously then reply to the table booking email post check in. Oh yes and the rooms were hot.

An old world hotel surrounded by a lovely pond and wild vegetation. Quiet enough to hear the frogs at night and the birds in the morning. Beds roomy and firm, helpful owner, decent breakfast, close to town and bike paths. Our room had huge windows that opened to the courtyard and pond below. Enjoyed our stay very much.

The staff were very good, but they were overworked. For instance, there was no one at reception when I arrived as the one man was busy doing something else essential and we had to wait too long between starter and main course because the same one man had to serve the entire full restaurant on his own.
