Hotel Casa del Sotano is a very beautiful property very comfortable and accessible to the historic city of Oaxaca. The small restaurant is nice with a good service. My only recommendation is that they keep the terrace open until late, as it has a wonderful view of the city but they close it at 7 pm. The same with the restaurant/bar service that is only open until 3 pm. The use of the temazcal should be included in the price and not charged separately per person. We really liked the architecture, cleanliness and comfort of this hotel.

El hotel está bien ubicado, atención por parte del personal muy buena. Único pero, es el estacionamiento que no está cerca la propiedad, el horario es limitado y nos pidieron cooperación económica por qué el hotel solo cubre las noches y no el día. Consideren $70 pesos extra por día de estacionamiento.

Decent hotel and great location. A few things could make it better. Not lots of light in the rooms. Pathetically weak shower pressure. Hours of restaurant are pretty random. Itblooksnlike there's a pool bitnits just a javuzzinand it doesnt get hot. There is a large deck bit it has no furniture, nothing going on.

El estacionamiento está a dos cuadras y tiene un horario muy restringido. El restaurante tarda muchísimo, es exageradamente caro y no funciona desde media tarde. No hay bar. La terraza, el mirador y el jacuzzi son accesibles pocas horas.

The room was spacious, clean and the entire hotel was as described in the pictures. We were upgraded to a room with a private terrace & infinity pool, with amazing views of the Santo Domingo church. The rooftop shared jacuzzi and sun deck were amazing as well. The front desk staff were amazing & helped us with directions, activities and booking ground transportation. The location was central and we felt safe walking everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.

The hot tub on the roof is wonderful with great views. And so many cool restaurants & bars near by! Having a cafe on-site where you can get "emergency" coffee/beer/breakfast was also convenient. Everything was comfortable & worked (e.g. AC, toilet, ceiling fan, wifi...).

Hotel was VERY clean. Loved the charm and colors! Price and location was great, easy access to Centro and easy access to taxis. Only downside was the bathroom was very hot and because of the vent on the door the smell of the bathroom would fill the room. Other than that everything was good and would definitely recommend it!

Mi experiencia en este hotel fue excelente. La limpieza fue impecable, tanto en la habitación como en las áreas comunes, lo cual es algo que valoro muchísimo. La ubicación es inmejorable, a muy poca distancia del centro, lo que facilita moverse caminando a los principales puntos de interés. El descanso fue muy placentero, gracias a la comodidad de las camas y la tranquilidad del lugar. Además, el restaurante ofrece platillos deliciosos, y todo el personal fue siempre amable, atento y servicial. Nos brindaron muy buenas recomendaciones para nuestra estancia. El hotel cuenta con caja de seguridad, y el acceso está muy bien controlado, lo que brinda una gran sensación de seguridad. En general, es un lugar hermoso, cuidado y con un excelente servicio. Sin duda, lo recomiendo y volvería a hospedarme aquí.

No hay internet en las habitaciones. Aunque hay una señal wifi es imposible conectarse, hay que salir al lobby para poder usarlo! Una gran molestia. Y como la señal celular es muy debil en los interiores a veces ni mensajes de texto se pueden mandar. Tampoco funciona el smart tv, solo canales de tv abierta horribles. Nunca nos rellenaron el suministro de agua potable, a pesar de solicitarlo, y lo peor había cucarachas en la habitación, pedi que fueran a sacarlas y tampoco lo hicieron. Pedí un tapete antidelizante para la regadera ya que el piso de la tina de baño es extremadamente resbaloso y tampoco atendieron mi solicitud poniendo en riesgo la seguridad de los huéspedes. Problemas con la facturación que al final se solucionaron pero no querían hacerlo. El hotel es bellísimo desafortunadamente mi experiencia fue terrible.

Location is very convenient, at the edge of the city center but still within walking distance. The jacuzzi and spa area closes at 7pm, this was unexpected as is regarded as private area for the suite. Couldn't find that in the policies online in Expedia. Better cleaning in the shower is commendable as there was black mold behind the window curtain. The door curtain could be darker and thicker, it lets the light and voices in.

Since we got there when l looked on amenities parking was included but must arrived before 9 pm and they claimed is in the policies. I never found it though. Then towels were smelly and old. Anyway we use them… Next day in the morning we found a cockroach. I told the front desk staff so they can clean. At the evening we come back and still there. The girl that works during the day so defensive instead on apologize and try to offer solutions. She asked me to specify where thee cockroach was instead of their staff making a deep cleaning to the room. The guy at the front desk was little more helpful but really have to advocate for yourself. Many trips to the front desk and at night smells like weed. Overall pricy hotel for the experience but Oaxaca city was magic. I will definitely come back to Oaxaca but for sure to a different hotel.

I have stayed in Oaxaca a few times and this is the only place I did not like for a few things, the cleanliness could be better, the bath towels were pretty rough, the room needed a few air freshener, the bathroom sink needed deeper cleaning, you can barely see the staff.

Fue una experiencia muy desagradable, el hotel puede estar bonito, pero no está limpio. Desde que entramos a la habitación fue terrible porque inmediatamente vimos cucarachas, avise a a la admisnitración y nos cambiaron de habitación solo por esa noche, diciendo que fumigarían. al siguiente día llegamos muy tarde y ya no hubo mucho tiempo de revisar, la verdad no creo que hayan hecho algo, porque a la mañana siguiente nuevamente vimos esos asquerosos insectos. No se puede estar en un hotel así y ya dejamos el hotel. no vuelvo a reservar ahí

You just have to know when booking this hotel - at least the room I was in - that there is no window. The one window goes out to the hallway, so it's closed by curtains. Living in the dark...

Good location with access to many great restaurants and close enough to the zocalo. Good AC and room darkness. Access to hotel controlled by magnetic lock and rooms vary between key card and key. Unfortunately no fridge or safe. Nice colonial hotel with central greenery. Towels need an upgrade. The door to access room is a colonial split door which is cool but does not provide privacy. We hung a dress on the inside of the door to correct. Bathroom is a bit small. Nice sitting areas throughout. Would stay again.

Conveniently located, easy nearby walk to everything (just to note it is on a hill). The hotels service and cleanliness is great. I got the room with a kitchenette and I highly recommend! The room is spacious and comfortable. The only con is the water in the bathroom when showering. Water pressure is constantly fluctuating between “good” pressure and little water as well as the water temperature from hot/warm to cold.

THERE IS NO WIFI IN YOUR ROOM. If that's not important to you this is a perfectly nice place to stay. There IS wifi in the common areas near the front desk, and in the restaurant area most but not all of the time. The staff will LIE AND GASLIGHT about the internet, ridiculously blaming it on "rain" or what have you. One time we came back to the hotel and the front desk attendant actually told us the wifi was fixed, and of course it was NOT! Why would they do that? The staff was otherwise perfectly nice but the constant lying about the wifi left a bad taste in our mouths. This is an easy problem to fix, and the fact that they don't fix it probably indicates they don't really care to. So, if YOU care about having wifi in your room, look elsewhere. If that's not such a big concern for you, then this is a perfectly charming little place to stay, and conveniently located to the Centro historic district. Also, to the extent this place presents itself as having a "pool," be advised that it does not. Just a hot tub in a weirdly inaccessible location that we never used because it was 95 degrees out.

Very pleasant staff, small room, cold at night (heating section of AC not working). Dark during the day and sheer curtain and no shutters makes it bright at night due to hallway light always on...in brief, a tad of a disappointment. Expensive for the less than stellar accomodations.

Hotel was a 5 minute walk from the centre, suite bed was comfortable, the only downside was shower had very little water pressure and A/C was above the bed which hits you directly. My wife got sick as soon as we returned home.

Decent hotel and great location. A few things could make it better. Not lots of light in the rooms. Pathetically weak shower pressure. Hours of restaurant are pretty random. Itblooksnlike there's a pool bitnits just a javuzzinand it doesnt get hot. There is a large deck bit it has no furniture, nothing going on.

Pretty property very close to the center of everything, quiet, no huge amenities but the small lounging pool has a beautiful view! Our room under the pool deck could be a little loud at times due to machinery but overall we really enjoyed it and was fair for the price. Staff were a plus, available 24/7 and helped us book our taxi transport to the airport when we left. Would return!

I had i bad experience with the front desk ,when we were checking out, the front desk girl sad we couldn't leave until she went and check out our room she came back aftwr 30 minutes ,that she left us waiting in the lobby (which made is loose our bus)she came back with a face wash towel and told me she had found a tear very small tear in the towel which she wanted to charge us for it ,we never even ised that towel because we bring our own seco d the towels were so old thta i wouldn't even use i told her that we didn't even used the towel that we used our own ,she finally let use go after an hour but it did made us loose our bus

Los cuartos son tradicionales pero están muy peaueños . To hay suficiente espacio para entrar bine a la cama . Peligra uno de doblarse el tobillo nada para acostarte . Me pareció mal que para hacer check out mandaron a algien a revisar el cuarto . Eso le bajo más el nivel . El Jacuzzi esta frío entonces es como un reto meterse . Lástima porque si puede ser lugar mejor . Si esta en una calle concurrida , y se siente un poco pesado porque hay mucho graffiti alrededor . No esta tan, tan mal el lugar . 2:5

Such a gem! Well located in the Centro area, an easy walk to a multitude of restaurants and shops, the area around Templo de Santo Domingo, the Zocalo, etc. The staff could NOT have been more friendly and EXTREMELY helpful - particular shout outs to Itel at the front desk (who went above and beyond on more than one occasion, she's a young lady who will go far in life) and Ivonne in the on site terrace restaurant, who was just wonderful to be around. The property itself is just beautiful - the courtyards (upper and lower) the terraces, the rooftop soaking jacuzzi pool area; it was all splendid - welcoming, relaxing, aesthetically pleasing everywhere you let your eyes rest! We will DEFINITELY stay here when next in Oaxaca!!

Since we got there when l looked on amenities parking was included but must arrived before 9 pm and they claimed is in the policies. I never found it though. Then towels were smelly and old. Anyway we use them… Next day in the morning we found a cockroach. I told the front desk staff so they can clean. At the evening we come back and still there. The girl that works during the day so defensive instead on apologize and try to offer solutions. She asked me to specify where thee cockroach was instead of their staff making a deep cleaning to the room. The guy at the front desk was little more helpful but really have to advocate for yourself. Many trips to the front desk and at night smells like weed. Overall pricy hotel for the experience but Oaxaca city was magic. I will definitely come back to Oaxaca but for sure to a different hotel.

Ivone our waitress at the small cafe was a 10/10 and Mari is the chef her food is super, cooked to perfection and the menu has many options other than the usual fair.Rooms are clean quaint. I would stay here again

The room was spacious, clean and the entire hotel was as described in the pictures. We were upgraded to a room with a private terrace & infinity pool, with amazing views of the Santo Domingo church. The rooftop shared jacuzzi and sun deck were amazing as well. The front desk staff were amazing & helped us with directions, activities and booking ground transportation. The location was central and we felt safe walking everywhere. We would definitely stay here again.

This property was so beautiful with courtyard gardens and cafe, terraza and roof top Jacuzzi with panoramic views! It made the longer walk from the bus station worth it! It was only 10 minutes from the Zocolo in Centre and close to several nearby parks and churches and cafes and restaurants. I would highly recommend. The view alone is spectacular and not to be missed!

The location is incredibly convenient. It’s close to all the bars and restaurants in the area, but far enough away that you won’t be disturbed by the noise. It was great. Hotel was walking distance to Oaxaca Centro. Great breakfast options with nice amenities. Did enjoy chilling in the jacuzzi during break from tours. However, the bed mattress was way to firm to be comfortable. Pillows may need to be a bit bigger. Cleanliness of facility is superb though. Felt safe and secure staying in this hotel!

Hotel Casa del Sotano is a very beautiful property very comfortable and accessible to the historic city of Oaxaca. The small restaurant is nice with a good service. My only recommendation is that they keep the terrace open until late, as it has a wonderful view of the city but they close it at 7 pm. The same with the restaurant/bar service that is only open until 3 pm. The use of the temazcal should be included in the price and not charged separately per person. We really liked the architecture, cleanliness and comfort of this hotel.

This was a great find on my first visit to the city,! The location is ideal: near the Center, but not loud . The rooms were colorful and well-maintained. The best thing was the rooftop spa, which I used twice a day. It has a spectacular view of Santo Domingo! (I just wish that it were open after seven.) The breakfast was great, especially thanks to our waitress Yvonne. She was super friendly and attentive. The front desk staff were all very courteous and helpful.

We loved our stay! The staff is so friendly and kind and helpful. The rooms are immaculate and very comfortable, they have the best pillows. The AC runs COLD. Plenty of HOT water. The view from the rooftop hot tub and patio is spectacular. The courtyard is beautiful. The restaurant has delicious food. The location is perfect, close to everything in the historic district. We will definitely being staying here again.

Cute little Mexican traditional hotel in a beautiful setting with kind staff. Has a restaurant on the premises, which I did not try and about a 10 minute walk to the Zocalo. My only criticism is that the bathroom was kind of small and the shower was a little bit awkward.
