Motel 6-Joliet, IL - I-80

This place is a dump. If you google “seedy motel” I’m fairly certain this filthy monstrosity is the wikipedia page’s photo. Room stank of marijuana, floors were filthy. Beds had large stains. Plumbing was barely functional and noisy. Parking lot is too small and full of all sorts of sketchy individuals. Hookers on the curb out front. Door locks barely functional as frame and door had visible pry-bar damage outside and thanks to non-existent weather seals, daylight was visible all the way around. Mildew on door and window frame due to condensation caused by an AC unit stuck on 60F and full fan speed. I have stayed in hotels in third world countries that were cleaner and more secure. The pay-by-the-week/month residents blasted loud music all day and shouted and screamed all night. First time I have “slept” fully clothed and armed in the US. Thankfully had a sleeping bag with me so did not have to come into contact with whatever was on the beds.

The staff was very helpful and courteous. The inside was well maintained and clean. But the outside is dilapated.

Very rundown. Check in area was poorly organized and noisy. My room was far away from parking and dimly lit corridor. Several noisy gatherings and groups just hanging out. Would not have stayed if I had not been afraid of losing my deposit and not been very tired.

Very bad outside and inside combined. Even the receptionist was behind glass. (He was nice guy )

The hotel was located right off of I-80 right next to Sam's Club. Dogs stay free which was great. Staff were very friendly. The room it self was clean. No soaps were provided. Microwave, mini fridge and TV. We were in a non smoking room but you could smell marijuana and cigarettes throughout. This hotel seems more for long term stay as the whole bottom level were for families to live in. I did not walk anywhere by myself. Good for one quick night.

I don't really care for hotels which have permanent residents with unchained dogs and cats, doors propped open, trash everywhere, prostitutes surrounding us, a sign which read: We do not rent rooms by the hour. This is absolutely the most frightening property in over 40 years of traveling. The 5.2 rating was a gift. Very, very scary here.

I have woken up several times during the night because of someone screaming or talking at night. In addition, there are many people who live in the hotel permanently, smoke at every corner and smell bad. Nightly price doesn't worth it.

There was nothing about this place that i would recommend. It smelled like mold. The furniture was chewed on from a dog and the TV didnt work. The grounds were horrible and people were actually living in the other rooms. This is worst experience that i have ever had. Oh and i believe i watched a drug deal take place.

A lovely clean room. We had a beautiful big very clean room. Lovely clean comfy bed, fridge and microwave. The room smelt gorgeous.

I didnt like the cockroaches i saw while there. I saw about 20 and couldnt sleep. Room was ok. Not too clean though. Staff is ok but they Watch those cameras and call if you do anything out of line. 😆

Bathroom was dirty not cleaned. Upon arrival. Sink in room was dirty room look like never got cleaned. Was not sweeped. Or mopped.

I had 2 mice in my room and seen a roach would not recommend

Found Roaches the next morning attempting to take a shower, I had an anxiety attack and was so disturbingly disgusted and disappointed I couldn’t even shower I shook out my belongings and left asap horrible experience

Everything was good. The only thing was the room smelled like cigarettes. Not sure if it was the A/clC or the people smoking outside and the odor went to the room. Otherwise everything was good.

Rooms shouldnt smell like cigarette smoke when you first open the door.

Bugs everywhere

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Noisy, people bumping music at 3am. Dirty, don't even think about walking barefoot, you'll probably catch a disease. Bags of trash sitting outside rooms, etc. Just gross.

Staff was excellent. The room was clean but the TV did not work. We were only there a few minutes before we left for a concert. When we got back to sleep, the bed was very uncomfortable. It was lumpy and you could feel the springs. We got up at 3am to drive home because we just could not sleep and were very sore feom the mattress

Has everything I needed, A/C, the sheets were nice and soft, and the shower was very clean. It was just noisy inside- I wish the door was sealed a little better.

was a first floor room, bottom of door was slightly kicked in so you could feel the breeze from outside. you can tell they ‘remodeled’ a little, but it’s honestly sloppy. the pics on their site have to be from when they just redid a room.

Check in staff was good, it was just a fehr bones experience, which is what I expect for motel six. But I wish there were more than two outlets.

Door lock was broken tv didnt work tub dripped all night. So much traffic and noise couldn't sleep. Not a place i would stay again or tell anyone to stay there

This Motel 6 has a google-compatible TV (at least in the room I was assigned) so that a guest can use their own subscription tv service. I found this to be a wonderful upgraded feature. The room was adequate.

Very noisy at night.

Unsafe area and hard wood floors bubbled up from water damage. Very low water pressure.

Check in was easy and ok. The room was to be non smoking and was horribly stinky like smoke. Clearly not a non smoking room. My chest hurt to breathe by morning because of how bad the smell was. The tv did not work and when I called about it they told me they would fix it tomorrow. Well I’m only here tonight so that doesn’t help me. There was a light in the wall next to the tx that never shut off. No switch nothing. How are we suppose to sleep with a bright light ion all night. When I called about the light the office took the phone off the hook so no one would call. No help or service here at all. Beds and pillows were the worst I have ever experienced. Will not be coming back and highly recommend paying more to stay at a better place.

Service was great. Room was clean and comfortable. Price was right.

Check in with a young lady was not very pleasant or welcoming. I was entering through the wrong front door instead of the side door with my toddler on hand and she seem very bothered and was not comforting at all.

Red roof inn cancelled my booking so I had find another hotel after a 4 hour drive from Wisconsin. It’s also hard to travel with 2 bigger dogs but motel 6 is always a good choice. Not only did they have rooms available on short notice, but the dogs were free to stay. My room was clean. Housekeeping was so nice. Management was nice, let us check out late and even laughed at me getting dragged around the parking lot with my cane corso. I never had a bad stay at a motel 6. Would definitely book again if I am in the area

Left some belongings in my room and they were so good at getting them back to me. Honest people and always a treat to work with

It smelled clean BUT once we got into room we started noticing bugs. At first we were like ok 2 bugs..it happens until we realized it was roaches and they were everywhere. So lights stayed on all night and we stayed ip all night and we left at 6am and when we sayed something to front desk staff he laughed and sayed there was no way there were roaches but he would take care of us the next time. What next time? Wont ever stay there again. Oh and when we went to leave the riom some guy was just randomly sleeping in a computer chair right outside our door. What?
