Everything was wonderful! The buffet breakfast was great and the staff was so welcoming. The lounge area and dining room were nice to have since there aren’t a lot of places to eat in the area.

Our stay here was amazing, we didn’t know what to expect but this place is Amazing!!!! The room was great! The lobby has a common area that included a pool table, a bar on site, and a foosball table. After seeing Icelandic horses all day along the roads it was a real pleasure to visit the neighboring farms horses located along the private toad leading to the property.

We stayed at Hotel Vatnsholt for one night and had a really pleasant experience. The staff were very welcoming and helpful – we arrived late in the evening, and they took time to explain everything clearly: the common areas (with games available until 11 pm), the breakfast setup, and then directed us to our room. A really nice touch was the free hot chocolate and coffee machine in the common area, available from 7 am to 11 pm. The staff even helped us heat up our own food and kindly provided cutlery from the restaurant so we could eat in the common area. Breakfast the next morning (15 EUR per person) was excellent with a wide variety – cereals, nuts, seeds, spreads, fresh bread, cheese, waffles, jams, and also meat options. Definitely worth it. Our room was comfortable, with shared bathrooms (shared between 2–3 rooms at most), and the location in the converted barn was unique and charming. Unfortunately, we didn’t get time to meet their horses, but that’s a great reason to return. Overall, a very friendly place with great facilities and a homely atmosphere. Highly recommend for a comfortable countryside stay.

We stayed in a family room with a double bed and two twin beds which worked great for our family of four. The property has a nice playground which my kids really enjoyed. They also have a social room with pool table, football table, couches and tv/dvd collection. The staff were very helpful and they have coffee, tea and hot chocolate readily available for guests.

Wir hatten das 90 qm Appartement gemietet, welches mit allem notwendigem ausgestattet war, jedoch hier und da auch abgewohnt ist. Man kann im großen Speisesaal frühstücken und Abendessen. Dort gab es auch die Möglichkeit Billard, Dart etc. zu spielen. Zudem waren dort auch ein paar Getränke wie Tee, Kakao kostenlos verfügbar. Es gibt auf dem Hof einen Spielplatz und Parkplätze stehen kostenfrei zur Verfügung.

This was a perfectly acceptable place for the night. It is all new, very clean, and comfortable. The rooms are a one room studio style arrangement with a little desk to one side and an enclosed bathroom. It is all completely functional, however, the space is tight. There is a small common room right at the entrance to the building, which can seat about 5 people.

Herbergement très calme et sympa. Nous avions une chambre individuelle dans un bâtiment de 3 niveaux. Très bonne literie, tout est propre. Il y avait 3 salles de bain communes à se partager pour 4-5 chambres. Les autres ayant leur propre salle de bain privée. La salle commune est cosy avec jeux à disposition, canapés confortables, plaids… du café et thé sont à disposition gratuitement à tout heure. L’extérieur offre une aire de jeu pour enfant et il y a des chevaux dans le champ d’à côté. Seul bémol, c’est isolé donc si vous ne voulez pas manger au restaurant sur place (qui est cher) il faut faire environ 20 minutes de route jusqu’à Selfoss pour se restaurer. Pas de cuisine commune à disposition donc vous ne pouvez rien cuisiner, pas même un bol de soupe

We only stayed for one night but we’re very comfortable in our room, maybe a bit on the small side for a longer stay though. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were excellent in all respects. No close by dining options but that wasn’t a problem as their own restaurant was open for dinner, which like the breakfast was extremely good and not overly expensive.

We generally liked the place, it was absolutely fine for one night, staff was very friendly! They have a spacious common room that compensates for the small bedrooms. What I didn’t like as much was the fact that the beds (unfortunately two singles) were very narrow and I always hit the wall or the table whenever turning, and that there was no effort made to block the midnight sun out so it was super bright all night! Sleeping masks were provided, along with ear plugs (which we luckily didn’t need because no neighbors- otherwise a MUST) but I get head aches from them so I can’t use them. Maybe some blindes would be a nice investment!

We booked this place since it is located in a remote area, away from light pollution. We saw aurora borealis both nights, and it was great. :) Just to set your expectations - the hotel is basically more like a farm, with the central building where you have common facilities (the free coffee is great) and then there are barracks around it - our room was in one of those. We got into the room with the code the hotel sent us - you should type it on a keypad which is on the door handle. Very convenient! The room was small but nice & clean. Very important to mention is that there is little to none isolation, so although the heating was on maximum, the room was so cold we slept fully dressed. The next day we accidentally found an additional small electric heater somewhere outside, so we brought that in. Ideally I'd imagine that someone would check the temperature when they set up the room and get that heater preventively in.

Greatnlocation if you wanna explor east Iceland , golden Circle and reykjavik and dont want tompack up and mive every day. Room are neet and clean #2 with private bathroom is what we had. Walls are thin but as we only slept and left straight after it was fine as we were tired exploring friendky people and free tea and coffee from the breakfast area was a bignplus

This property was not our favorite. The room was tiny for our family of 4 - we almost couldn’t fit our luggage in the room and walk to and from the bathroom. It was also in a basement and full of flies. Every time other guests opened or closed a door our door rattled loudly waking us up. The pictures from the other rooms in this property look very nice- I am wondering if we just got a dud. Maybe just avoid the quadruple room with a private bath. Otherwise, the property was nice. Our kids enjoyed the park and the breakfast buffet was ok. We were glad we only had one night to spend here.

The room was was small, walls were paper thin. Could hear the people in another room/ apartment talking/swearing. Children were hollering and pounding on their door. Bed linens were dirty and flies were in the room. They did upgraded us to another room,but that was not much better. Well off the main road. We ended up leaving. Would not recommend.

Cozy guest house with friendly staff. The cottage is very tiny and the hot water tank only good for one shower and takes time to reheat water. The wind noise is seriously loud and I find out why they provide earplugs as amenities 😅

Had to book overnight at the last minute, my husband had an unexpected medical issue and we needed a place close to the hospital for the evening. We arrived at the property at 11:15 pm, and even thought the reception area was closed, the staff had left instructions addressed to me attached to the front door to the lobby. My room was clean, it was a little on the warm side even after opening the windows, but at that point I was grateful to just have a place for the night. The breakfast, although not free, was delicious and everything was very fresh. Fortunately we were able to continue our trip the next morning after my husband was discharged, but I will remember this lodge for our next trip to Iceland.

I was impressed by the solitude of the area and the hotel. We arrived from the chaos of Rome, had a smooth check in with a friendly clerk, and went to sleep in a very comfortable bed. Woke to a lovely morning... sunrise, total quietness. Highly recommend this place even if it's a ways off the beaten track. About one hour 35 minutes from the airport. Worth the drive.

Stayed in one of the little cabins. It worked great for us. Out in the country, very relaxing. Free coffee in the mornings. We weren't big fans of what we ate in the restaurant. I'd recommend eating in town.

We stayed at Hotel Vatnsholt for one night and had a really pleasant experience. The staff were very welcoming and helpful – we arrived late in the evening, and they took time to explain everything clearly: the common areas (with games available until 11 pm), the breakfast setup, and then directed us to our room. A really nice touch was the free hot chocolate and coffee machine in the common area, available from 7 am to 11 pm. The staff even helped us heat up our own food and kindly provided cutlery from the restaurant so we could eat in the common area. Breakfast the next morning (15 EUR per person) was excellent with a wide variety – cereals, nuts, seeds, spreads, fresh bread, cheese, waffles, jams, and also meat options. Definitely worth it. Our room was comfortable, with shared bathrooms (shared between 2–3 rooms at most), and the location in the converted barn was unique and charming. Unfortunately, we didn’t get time to meet their horses, but that’s a great reason to return. Overall, a very friendly place with great facilities and a homely atmosphere. Highly recommend for a comfortable countryside stay.

Séjour convenable. Le lieu/l’emplacement est top et la chambre était très propre. Le reste laisse un peu à désirer notamment : le personnel qui peu avenant, pas un sourire de décroché, on a attendu un bon moment avant de voir quelqu’un, le restaurant est très cher avec peu de choix alors qu’il n’y a pas de cuisine pour ce faire un petit à manger et le complexe est vieillot (un bon coup de peinture ferait du bien.

We booked this place since it is located in a remote area, away from light pollution. We saw aurora borealis both nights, and it was great. :) Just to set your expectations - the hotel is basically more like a farm, with the central building where you have common facilities (the free coffee is great) and then there are barracks around it - our room was in one of those. We got into the room with the code the hotel sent us - you should type it on a keypad which is on the door handle. Very convenient! The room was small but nice & clean. Very important to mention is that there is little to none isolation, so although the heating was on maximum, the room was so cold we slept fully dressed. The next day we accidentally found an additional small electric heater somewhere outside, so we brought that in. Ideally I'd imagine that someone would check the temperature when they set up the room and get that heater preventively in.

We only stayed for one night but we’re very comfortable in our room, maybe a bit on the small side for a longer stay though. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were excellent in all respects. No close by dining options but that wasn’t a problem as their own restaurant was open for dinner, which like the breakfast was extremely good and not overly expensive.

Wir hatten das 90 qm Appartement gemietet, welches mit allem notwendigem ausgestattet war, jedoch hier und da auch abgewohnt ist. Man kann im großen Speisesaal frühstücken und Abendessen. Dort gab es auch die Möglichkeit Billard, Dart etc. zu spielen. Zudem waren dort auch ein paar Getränke wie Tee, Kakao kostenlos verfügbar. Es gibt auf dem Hof einen Spielplatz und Parkplätze stehen kostenfrei zur Verfügung.

It was in a great location for our daily explorations. The staff was particularly helpful, the room was very nice and the bed is very comfortable. Great pizza!

Clean, friendly, pretty location. I was a little unprepared for the concept - we used 3 shower/rest rooms shared between 5-6 guest rooms but it worked out OK. Bedroom was small. Free coffee in common area and breakfast available for purchase.

We did not eat breakfast there but they had a nice area to eat and to relax, separate from our room, offering coffee, tea and hot chocolate at no cost. Staff was most helpful. There was plenty of parking available. We just had to enter the name of the hotel and our Apple map led us there very easily. Getting to Westman Islands was easy from there, as was the Golden Circle.
