Big hotel with a long walk to the front desk and breakfast since we were in the 200 area. Showers were great with good water pressure and hot water. We had our laundry done. One load was $45 (ouch!). But if you want to wait you can do it at the Vik campsite. Breakfast was included but it would have been even better to have coffee available in our room since we were so far from the restaurant.

This is a large hotel but it was quiet. The breakfast was great! There are somethings to see not far away and the view out of the room and amazing. I forgot my toothbrush at the last hotel and they apologized for changing $14 for one but it was better than driving into town for one. The room was spacious and had an electric kettle. The bar is well stocked and a good place to swap stories with fellow travelers.

Very nice location at the top of a huge hill. Family owned and operated. Nice bar and restaurant table are set up in a banquet style. Breakfast buffet is huge and our dinner the night we got there was very nice with the chef specials. I had artic chard and my friend had stuffed peppers - both were tasty. Rooms were very large. It was windy when we stayed and we were able to catch some northern lights! A nice experience.

This place was quant for being remote. Delicious breakfast with lots of options, service was really great. Everyone was smiling. Check in was easy and the ladies both times at the front desk were awesome! The gym is incredible! Lots of weights and machines. Only issue is you can’t control the temperature in the rooms and shower was small.

This hotel was a great option outside of Vik that offers a convenient and affordable place to stay when exploring the southwestern portion of the ring road. I wish we had known ahead of time to make dinner reservations. There is limited seating in the dining room and with the large tour bus crowds we had to wait until 8:30 for a table after a long day exploring. Also, we needed some laundry done and the website said 3000 ISK, the room sign said 3500 ISK, and when I went to the front desk they informed me it was 4000 ISK!

Great stay at Hotel Dyrhólaey. Helpful and friendly staff, comfortable beds, easy parking and clean room. Great location along the Ring Road. The hotel was busy with tour buses but they also paid attention to the individual travelers. Nicely done. I recommend making dinner reservations if you have a preference on dinning times. We arrived at 5:30pm but could not get a dinner reservation until 8:30pm.

Free parking outside. NB it is a large hotel with several sections so check in to find where you are staying before unloading. Reception staff were friendly and our room was in main building with restaurant. Surprisingly quiet and modern room. Comfortable with just the frequent issue in Iceland....the black out curtains lack sufficient material to fully cover the window, otherwise fine. There are lots of tour groups in the hotel. We had booked a meal for 8pm which worked ok. Not greatly impressed with the quality of the offering in the buffet but it filled a hole. We were warned that the tour groups eat breakfast 7-8 so it gets crowded but we were ok at 8am and reasonable choice available. Staff working hard to keep on top of things.

This is a pretty big property. There were a lot of tour buses there, which made the breakfast buffet quite crowded at certain hours. That said, our sleeping hours were very quiet. Our only complaint is that the gym hours were not posted and it was locked when we wanted to work out first thing in the morning.

Very friendly staff at reception. But the rooms are in need of a refresh. It is clean, but the bed is a wooden block with a mattress on it and there is carpet in the room, which I always find a bit unhygienic. Breakfast was fine.

Staff was very friendly and it was nice to have a restaurant in the building for dinner. Room was large and had a beautiful view of the coast. However, room was dirty with stray hairs all over the bedding and a very strong musty smell like the carpet had been wet at one point. We spent our stay here with the windows open to try and help the smell.

My first room was only partially cleaned - black sand on the bathroom floor, long black hairs on the bedding, used tissues on the desk. The woman at the front desk was very nice and moved me to a second room which unfortunately had a strong mildew odor coming from the bathroom. I kept the door shut which made it fine for sleeping. Both rooms were incredibly dated. Overall, staff were great but the facilities were not my favorite.

Not bad if you don’t have other options. Hotel caters to many bus tours for one night stays so the restaurant feels more like a cafeteria. Breakfast buffet is free and has many good options. Dinner is also buffet and food was average but quite pricey at 7500 kr per person. For that price we expected higher quality options. They have a bar but it’s not really designed to sit and have a drink at and there isn’t any outdoor patio. Our room was spacious but lacked a mini fridge. And it smelled like sewer in the bathroom. Overall we were disappointed with this hotel especially since we booked two nights here. Positives: great location just minutes from Vik, black sand beach, horseback riding, puffins at the peninsula, and the views are stunning.

Hotel is very old. Carpet needs to be replaced. We were traveling in July but rooms were super warm and the only way to cool down was open the window but mosquitoes became an issue. Bathroom was updated and water pressure was good.

This is a mixed review. While we liked the hotel itself (nothing fancy, but perfect for what we needed), there were some negative aspects. The hotel is right off the main highway 1 near Vik so the location is great. It is up on a hill so it has a magnificent view of the sea and black sand beach. The rooms are spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It had a great selection of meats, cheeses, eggs, pastries, etc. What we didn't enjoy however was the noise. This hotel is larger and seems to cater to some tour groups. While there were some louder, younger guests, the main issue was the constant banging of doors. We were a few rooms away from one of the entry doors and you could hear it slam shut after every guest. Again, with it being a larger hotel with large groups, this door seemed to be used constantly. We also could hear people walking/running and closing the doors to their individual rooms. This constant noise made it difficult to sleep until later in the evening when others seem to settle down as well. So in general the hotel was good, just the noise really took away from the experience.

Great view and location. This is our second time staying here. The only thing is that if you book the quad room know that it says 4 beds but it’s really 2 beds and a futon that is folded down. So with teenagers who don’t want to share beds this was hard to do. We thought there would be 4 separate twins. We asked them to try to help move the futon into two twins but they never did.

Hotel was good but seems to receive a lot of “tour operator groups”. Somehow noisy as we can hear people talking in the corridor and doors slamming, but good buffet. We were disappointed to not have a table for diner although we did book plenty of time in advance.

The breakfast was great- so many options. The room was spacious and comfortable. The electronic adapter provided by the hotel didn't work and we were unable to use the TV due to scrambled channels?

The staff at this hotel are fantastic. We had a car situation that we needed help with, and they had it fixed within a few hours for us! The views are great, food was good. We really appreciated the breakfast in the morning. 5 stars!

The staff brutently tried to unlock my door while I was in the room without asking first, and she stated that according to her info I already checked out which is totally false information. Very disrespectful and unprofessional, won’t come back ever again.

Staff at the front desk were a little rude. However, the location, views and restaurant were nice. Would recommend to anyone traveling to South Iceland just have to get past the front desk.

The bed was comfy the room was clean.. the reception girl was not very friendly and it seemed everything was an issue or to hard so we stayed in our room the rest of the time. Guess she was having a bad day. Breakfast was really good had heaps of variety and plentiful not sure if I would stay again but was good for a stop over for a break in driving.

This is a mixed review. While we liked the hotel itself (nothing fancy, but perfect for what we needed), there were some negative aspects. The hotel is right off the main highway 1 near Vik so the location is great. It is up on a hill so it has a magnificent view of the sea and black sand beach. The rooms are spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It had a great selection of meats, cheeses, eggs, pastries, etc. What we didn't enjoy however was the noise. This hotel is larger and seems to cater to some tour groups. While there were some louder, younger guests, the main issue was the constant banging of doors. We were a few rooms away from one of the entry doors and you could hear it slam shut after every guest. Again, with it being a larger hotel with large groups, this door seemed to be used constantly. We also could hear people walking/running and closing the doors to their individual rooms. This constant noise made it difficult to sleep until later in the evening when others seem to settle down as well. So in general the hotel was good, just the noise really took away from the experience.

Expensive hotel given the facilities. Very clean and nice staff but older hotel and basic decor and services. Online it made it seem like you were right near/on the black sand beach but you are a 10 min drive away.

Perfectly located hotel nestled atop a hill. Stunning views of the ocean and surrounding landscape. Our room was rather large and the beds were comfortable. During our stay we were able to watch the Northern lights from the hotel parking lot. Overall wonderful experience!

This hotel was a great option outside of Vik that offers a convenient and affordable place to stay when exploring the southwestern portion of the ring road. I wish we had known ahead of time to make dinner reservations. There is limited seating in the dining room and with the large tour bus crowds we had to wait until 8:30 for a table after a long day exploring. Also, we needed some laundry done and the website said 3000 ISK, the room sign said 3500 ISK, and when I went to the front desk they informed me it was 4000 ISK!

This is an easy to access hotel from ring road (route 1). Rooms were good, beds very nice. The property had good views if you take a walk, but the rooms did not. My one comments is this is very much a tour bus hotel. At least 5 busses of people were there when we were. This was a clean, perfectly fine, large hotel with no real character, that is mostly geared to large bus groups. It was expensive for what it provided and I would go with a guest house next time in this area. The generous dinner buffet was a shocking $7,500 isk / $60 us dollars for a standard buffet with meat and fish (sliced beef & salmon). I would definitely plan to eat elsewhere. We had great meals throughout Iceland for less than this every night. It was nice that there was a bar and the bartender was actually fantastic. Great views from the hotel and restaurant.

We had a great stay here! The hotel is very nice and clean, the rooms are a little cheaply so it is a little loud. The employees we're so helpful and gave great tips. The breakfast was amazing and had the biggest variety out of any of the hotels we stayed at in Iceland. The coffee machine was mid.

Great quick stay! Room was spacious, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was enough to get your day started the right way. Views for days as it sits atop a mountain and has a beautiful view of Reynisfjara, black sand beach. I will definitely stay again.
