Excellent location. We walked to the hotel with luggage from the train station,10 minutes down a cool street. Used a holylfy e sim for GPS and downloaded the Taxi Go App to get back to the train station for under $8. The New Wakasa staff made the absolute best check in, you have to go to experience it. Rolled out the red carpet, made sure we were comfortable from check in to check out. Breakfast was awesome, we did 1 japanese style and 1 western style. Both great, but Japanese style was such a lovely display. You can walk to the Deer Park, walk to temples. The Onsen was super nice and we both had the room to ourselves. The rooftop terrace gave us a beautiful sunrise view. I honestly feel this was one of my best hotel experiences ever, 5 stars in my opinion. The gift shop was cool and just 3 doors down, not towards the deer park, but the other direction was a really nice cookie and sweets shop.

Excellent accommodation. We arranged to have japanese Traditional dinner with 5 of us this time, and also traditional breakfast. They have hotel parking right at the front door and we enjoyed the walking distance (5 mins) to seeing the deer in Nara.

First time at a Ryokan. Wonderful experience from when we first arrived until we left. Room was beautiful and private onsen was luxurious, we spent a lot of time there! 100% get the Breakfast and dinner package, it was such a unique experience with lovely traditional meals and it was very large portion for 2 people. They also provided a lot of free amenities that we could take home with us including photographs and a traditional pouch/bag. i would definitely recommend this Ryokan to anyone planning to visit Nara.

A spectacular stay at New Wakasa. The location is perfect, the staff incredibly kind and attentive, and the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing. We also loved the thoughtful touches, especially the photo they took of us and the souvenirs. The baths were very clean and relaxing. 100% recommend.

Lovely place with the kindest staff and a beautiful onsen. My room had the sauna and there was a lot of traffic noise from the main road so maybe not ideal for light sleepers but overall a great stay.

Staying at this ryokan was the absolute highlight of our 10-day trip to Japan! We stayed in Room 303 and loved having our own private mineral soaking tub out on the deck plus the public onsen. Everything about this place was clean, comfortable, and memorable. The private kaiseki dinner was beautiful, delicious, and very filling—an experience not to be missed! We were shocked after checking in to be offered a local guide to explore Nara the following day compliments of Wakasa Bettei. She spent half a day with us—exploring gardens, temples and sanctuaries, while providing stories and local history. A day we will never forget. Overall, our stay was phenomenal! Do not hesitate another minute to book.

Nice clean onsen in the room and the public bath.. Convenient parking right next to hotel. Location quite far and not easy to find when walking from shopping area of Nara especially at nite. Would be better if the newly renovated rooms has modern bed instead of Tatami as it is difficult to get up when the bed is on the floor.

Et stilfullt, velholdt hotell/ryokan med gode badefasiliteter og nydelig mat. Vi bodde på et tradisjonelt japansk rom og sov på tatami matte. Tross litt hard seng sov vi godt. Spiste både tradisjonell middag og frokost, og rettene var mange, forseggjorte og lekre. Et veldig hyggelig personale ga oppholdet det lille ekstra. Anbefales!

館内はきれいで、お食事もとてもおいしかったです。 温泉の温度と浴室の温度がやや低く寒く感じました。後、貸切風呂の天井にからはカビなのか？扉を開けた時にカビ臭のような臭いが気になってしまったのが非常に残念でした。 それ以外は素敵な施設でした。

とても丁寧な対応をして頂きました。 駅からは少し離れていますが、東大寺や興福寺など観光地へのアクセスが良好です。 夕食を食べる場所を決めかねていたのですが、ホテルの方のアドバイスに従ったところかなり満足できるものとなりました。奈良公園周辺について相談があればしてみるといいかもですね！ 朝食もとても美味しく朝から満足度の高い時間を過ごすことができました。 ホテル展望台は景色もよく、また子供が過ごせる場もありました。 部屋も清潔感が高くとても良かったです。 ぜひまた機会があれば利用したいですね。

Unser Aufenthalt in dem Hotel war unser Highlight auf unserer Japanreise. Unser Zimmer war japanisch eingerichtet und hatte eine Terrasse mit Ausblick auf die Berge. Es war wunderschön und sehr sehr sauber. Wir haben einen Jukata bekommen und das Kaiseki Menü war eine tolle Erfahrung. Sehr zu empfehlen!

ホテルマンの接客対応が良いと感じた。 部屋の内装に何点か気になる点があった。 他の部屋の物音が聞こえやすい点も気になる。 元旦だったので朝食の内容がおせち風になっており非常に良かった。

This was such a unique experience. I enjoyed my stay and LOVED the in-room onsen tub. I only wish there was a larger safe in the room. It was on the smaller side, so I couldn’t fit my laptop in it.

We had a great experience at New Hotel Wakasa and the staff were super helpful. We arrived to Nara early and the hotel was able to hold our luggage for us. During checkout, they were also able to hold our luggage for us (before 3pm) so we could spend one last afternoon in Nara luggage free before leaving the city. The hotel has been renovated and the rooms each have a unique interior design with really high quality finishes and fixtures. We got the breakfast and dinner options at the hotel and the food was great. Finally, the public bath was a great way to end the day. The hotel is a bit further from the main stores and shopping area (10-13min walk) but it is quite close to Nara park area and a few local spots. We would definitely come back in the future!

Nice clean onsen in the room and the public bath.. Convenient parking right next to hotel. Location quite far and not easy to find when walking from shopping area of Nara especially at nite. Would be better if the newly renovated rooms has modern bed instead of Tatami as it is difficult to get up when the bed is on the floor.

From the moment we steped on property they went above and beyond from the tea at check in to dinner and arranging a private night tour which we highly recommend to anyone in the area. Guide was funny, informative and a great photographer best hotel and tour ive ever taken!

I wanted to experience staying at a traditional ryokan on my first Japan trip, so chose this ryokan after doing much research. We stayed in room 301 which had a private open air onsen. The bath and separate shower were both very clean, the Shiseido shampoo and conditioner provided were wonderful, and the private onsen divine. I used it several times during my one night stay. The water was very warm and stayed warm. We had a kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The presentation was absolutely stunning, and the food varied and delicious. But the best part about this ryokan was the staff. From the receptionist who provided me restaurant recommendations for lunch to the staff who served us our meals, and the staff who helped book us a massage, they could not have been friendlier, more welcoming or more gracious. I happened to mention in an earlier conversation that we were celebrating a college graduation on this trip, and to our surprise they brought us a special dessert with sparklers at the end of our meal, which was so lovely. The ratings on various sites for this ryokan differed, but I give it 4 stars! Thank you to the staff for a truly wonderful experience!

Excellent location. We walked to the hotel with luggage from the train station,10 minutes down a cool street. Used a holylfy e sim for GPS and downloaded the Taxi Go App to get back to the train station for under $8. The New Wakasa staff made the absolute best check in, you have to go to experience it. Rolled out the red carpet, made sure we were comfortable from check in to check out. Breakfast was awesome, we did 1 japanese style and 1 western style. Both great, but Japanese style was such a lovely display. You can walk to the Deer Park, walk to temples. The Onsen was super nice and we both had the room to ourselves. A spectacular stay at New Wakasa. The location is perfect, the staff incredibly kind and attentive, and the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were amazing. We also loved the thoughtful touches, especially the photo they took of us and the souvenirs. The baths were very clean and relaxing. 100% recommend.

We had a great experience at New Hotel Wakasa and the staff were super helpful. We arrived to Nara early and the hotel was able to hold our luggage for us. During checkout, they were also able to hold our luggage for us (before 3pm) so we could spend one last afternoon in Nara luggage free before leaving the city. The hotel has been renovated and the rooms each have a unique interior design with really high quality finishes and fixtures. We got the breakfast and dinner options at the hotel and the food was great. Finally, the public bath was a great way to end the day. The hotel is a bit further from the main stores and shopping area (10-13min walk) but it is quite close to Nara park area and a few local spots. We would definitely come back in the future!

I have never been so welcomed by a hotel where their offering and servicing is so customer oriented, leaving a very impressive memory from start til checking out The quality on the catering side was slightly below par but was justified by the price they charged. All in all, it is a very nice accommodation to relax and the experience was well above expectations

Excellent accommodation. We arranged to have japanese Traditional dinner with 5 of us this time, and also traditional breakfast. They have hotel parking right at the front door and we enjoyed the walking distance (5 mins) to seeing the deer in Nara.

とても丁寧な対応をして頂きました。 駅からは少し離れていますが、東大寺や興福寺など観光地へのアクセスが良好です。 夕食を食べる場所を決めかねていたのですが、ホテルの方のアドバイスに従ったところかなり満足できるものとなりました。奈良公園周辺について相談があればしてみるといいかもですね！ 朝食もとても美味しく朝から満足度の高い時間を過ごすことができました。 ホテル展望台は景色もよく、また子供が過ごせる場もありました。 部屋も清潔感が高くとても良かったです。 ぜひまた機会があれば利用したいですね。

Et stilfullt, velholdt hotell/ryokan med gode badefasiliteter og nydelig mat. Vi bodde på et tradisjonelt japansk rom og sov på tatami matte. Tross litt hard seng sov vi godt. Spiste både tradisjonell middag og frokost, og rettene var mange, forseggjorte og lekre. Et veldig hyggelig personale ga oppholdet det lille ekstra. Anbefales!

Unser Aufenthalt in dem Hotel war unser Highlight auf unserer Japanreise. Unser Zimmer war japanisch eingerichtet und hatte eine Terrasse mit Ausblick auf die Berge. Es war wunderschön und sehr sehr sauber. Wir haben einen Jukata bekommen und das Kaiseki Menü war eine tolle Erfahrung. Sehr zu empfehlen!

First time at a Ryokan. Wonderful experience from when we first arrived until we left. Room was beautiful and private onsen was luxurious, we spent a lot of time there! 100% get the Breakfast and dinner package, it was such a unique experience with lovely traditional meals and it was very large portion for 2 people. They also provided a lot of free amenities that we could take home with us including photographs and a traditional pouch/bag. i would definitely recommend this Ryokan to anyone planning to visit Nara.

駐車場料金について詳細あると良い。奈良公園近くらしく、鹿のインテリアや和風デコに和みました。部屋のお茶セットにインスタントコーヒーがあると嬉しい、大浴場外のドリンクコーナーで無料で飲めましたが部屋でも飲めれば。屋上テラスが素敵。朝食豪華で給仕さんの説明があり感動しました。普通は夕食にお品書き説明があるので。

Wakasa Bettei surprised me as one of my favorite hotels in my 8-day Japan trip. I think it came down to the fact that the premises were cozy and new, the location was serene and close to Todaiji, and the staff were just so friendly. Absolutely gorgeous meals for dinner kaiseki and Japanese-style breakfast too. There's a goofy charm in having a violinist serenade us during dinner, and offering to take photos of us in our ukatas smiling next to their mascot. Both public bath options they offered were so clean and relaxing and not at all crowded. I would not hestitate to stay here again.
Wakasa Bettei surprised me as one of my favorite hotels in my 8-day Japan trip. I think it came down to the fact that the premises were cozy and new, the location was serene and close to Todaiji, and the staff were just so friendly. Absolutely gorgeous meals for dinner kaiseki and Japanese-style breakfast too. There's a goofy charm in having a violinist serenade us during dinner, and offering to take photos of us in our ukatas smiling next to their mascot. Both public bath options they offered were so clean and relaxing and not at all crowded. I would not hestitate to stay here again.

Beautiful and fancy stay. They were VERYY hospitable. Never stayed in a traditional Japanese room before so that was an interesting experience. The private bath was excellent. Super close to Nara park.

The free tour arranged by the hotel was excellent and informative, we loved our guide Michiko! Japanese breakfast was delicious and beautifully arranged and served. Coffee on the rooftop scenic and serene.

It's my first time staying at Hotel New Wakasa. I travelled with my husband and two kids (10 and 15 yo). We took train and walked about 15 minutes to the hotel. We have booked the room with our own tub with mountain view. We were greeted by the friendly staff. They took us to the room. There were some complimentary drinks for adults and kids. The room was very clean and we liked the design a lot. Slippers were all prepared at the front door. Our booking included one half board dinner and a breakfast. The staff will come to our room to set up the bed when we stepped out for dinner. The food was delicate and delicious. During dinner, the hotel had hired someone to play music and she would come to each table and asked if there's any specific piece you would like to hear. There was also a rooftop for you to enjoy sunset or sunrise although it was a bit windy and cold when we went in mid March. There was also a small outdoor playground for little kids. We have tried the public bath separately for men and women, not too crowded. The overall experience was great.
