Royal Hotel

Hotel is in a great location - right in downtown Chiliwack and a block away from District 1881. Loved the older hotel which was clean and quiet. Note that staff aren't at the front desk...they do have a number you can call. Check in time starts at 3:30. And there is no elevator.

We booked nothing too fancy since we only were staying for 2 nights. We knew there was no mini fridge but expected an A/C unit. We got up to the room to only a fan. Spoke to the only girl who was working the hotel and she said only 4 rooms had A/C units but couldn't move us rooms because they were booked. The only thing we were offered was an additional fan but with the following day predicted to hit 33 degrees, it was not going to be manageable. The room was already warm with the fan going. We opted to leave and book a different hotel and contacted hotels.com about the misrepresentation of the hotel description. Hotel also has no ice machine. Hotel has no elevator (just a heads up for people with mobility issues)

I love that staff is reassuring that thebparking spots are free parking at the hotel spite the sign says otherwise, the city hasnt fixed that issue

No AC they said its because its old no mini fridge nothing but a very small room and a small bathroom. Hot and cramped no elevators. Only offers a comon area with a small fridge . Staff was very nice though . Will not re visit.

Very musky smell upon entering hotel, realize its very old, but very 'off-putting' no fridge in room (knew this ahead) but no ice machine either, A/C was a unit you hook up yourself, and TV was very small plus we had to get help connecting, but the worst was all "the noise" homeless along with traffic, all this and "overpriced"

I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to my room. Not good for someone with mobility issues.

Heritage hotel. Downtown Chilliwack, in the heart of 1881 district. Love it here. Functional hotel only, no perks like fridge, microwave. (NB: Bring tea, only have coffee in room). Easy to park, safe and seeping with character. Good value.

We stayed here in a last minute scramble for a room because it was cheap and centrally located. We wished we had chosen differently by the end of our one night stay... Upon checking in, I asked about parking and was assured parking on the street was the best option and safe. The next morning, despite removing all valuables, my car had a smashed back window from someone who decided my little, empty cooler bag was worth taking. Now, it's hard to pin a 'smash and grab' on the hotel itself, despite their lack of safe parking and assurances that the street was where I should park. It happens, though anyone staying should know that there is not reliable or safe parking here. In the morning, when I discovered the damage, I wanted to report it to the front desk and ask for assistance in clean-up and reporting it to the authorities. Absolutely no one was available. Throughout the more than an hour that I spent dealing with this and reporting it, not only was there no one available in the hotel, nobody at the front desk or anywhere to be found, but the number they left on a sign at the front desk went straight to a voicemail. Other guests wandered through and were also befuddled by the absence as they tried to check out, but in my case - when I truly had a problem - there was zero assistance to be had. You are literally on your own, no matter what happens. I tried to address this after my stay, but the management didn't seem to see the problem and assured me there was nothing more they

The room was clean and was in good condition. The room that we were given had the bed up against a wall...not my favorite thing. Unfortunately the restaurant that was previously there had closed down but there was another very close. Otherwise, I would recommend.

They no longer serve breakfast even though it’s advertised as such. The room we stayed smelled bad.

My husband and I have come here for a few years. Comfortable and fun to come to. Staff is amazing. We have never had issues with parking. Room is older but clean, not judge but just the right size.

Royal hotel is a quaint, heritage site that has been carefully maintained and lovingly restored. The creaky floors are evocative of yesteryear, and the rooms are exceptionally clean and well-maintained.

Beautiful and clean

Room was very small. Found garbage under the bed, from previous guests (so obviously wasn't cleaned well). Booked 7 nights, but had to leave one day early. Though I notified them two days prior, the hotel wasn't willing to refund the final night's cost. A $200 freebie, in their pocket! I wouldn't stay there again, or recommend it.

Comfy, sizeable rooms. Rooms modern, clean and well maintained. Shopping and dining options walkable within a couple of blocks. Car parking seemed safe and close to rooms.

Good overall. A couple of cleanliness things that weren't perfect, but that's likely just because of the small number of staff on hand. A few other quirks as well, which were probably charming, and more due to the building being so old. The staff that were around were awesome.

Definitely had an aging character. Very western feeling. The furnishinga, the creeky floors, etc. I liked it. Definitely in a convenient location....everything is walking distance. No AC, just a fan, so be wary in the summer if you like cold. Otherwise a nice stay. Also, every door is cipher lock controlled...no keys or card. I'd stay again for sure when in chillawack.

Room was clean. The ac isn’t good could never get it below 75 Fahrenheit. And there’s no elevator so if you have a bunch of bags you’ll have to lug them up the stairs.

There is a pub attached to this hotel that plays loud music until 1AM. Drunk people in the streets included. There was no air conditioner in the room. The halls are air conditioned and we had to leave our door open to bring the room temperature down for the few hours we could sleep. Yes, we had to leave the door open well we slept. It was close to 30 degrees in the room. The street outside is narrow and the walls in this old building don’t block noise. The traffic was very loud very early.

Super nice place. Breezy was very helpful. What I did not like was that the wifi was very spotty at best. Would always say 'connected without internet'. Happened to both mine and my son's phones (Apple & Android) We quickly found out at night that the outside walls and windows were paper thin. The locals who were at the close-by taverns, could be heard as if they were sleeping next to me 😀. It was a Saturday night, so take that into consideration when reading this review. I would totally come back and stay again.

I did not realize they had no air conditioning. They did however provide a fan which did help. Rooms the size of a bedroom and bathroom very tiny. But I guess that is what you can expect for a historical hotel.

Great heritage building very inconvenient location downtown. Friendly staff, some modern updates, but only Roku TV, and the thermostat could not be changed. The rooms are very small. Great for a quick overnight stay if sleep is all you need.

A delightful and classic hotel and very helpful staff! This is an older hotel, established in 1908 if I recall correctly, but unlike some older properties it manages to combine the charm and history with modern conveniences. The wiring all seems modern and there was no problem finding places to charge devices etc. and the room was well laid out with a small table/desk and a wardrobe that could also be used as a table... everything solid and antique in feel. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating when we were delayed getting there (and missing the deadline for registration), and I was impressed by the simple efficiency they operated with. I would certainly stay here again, and hope to do so!

I was disappointed to find out they no longer had a restaurant and suggest they take that info down on their website. One of the places I was interested in seeing was the 1881 area and it was so close. Also lots of stores, banks and restaurants in the area.

I turned up the heat in my room when I first checked in. When I came back 6 hours later it was still cold. Too cold to crawl under the covers. When I complained she said that there was heat. Just not in my room. I asked for a refund as I was not going to stay in a cold room and was told that I would receive it. But phone calls and emails have not been returned due to the refund not being received.

It had a cool antique feel and it was clean. It advertises air conditioning, but it doesn't work. The room was very hot so difficult to get good sleep. I didnt like that the front desk didn't have somebody there. We never did get our towels we asked for.

The Royal Hotel is within walking distance to local shops, restaurants and the museum. The building is old but has been in good maintenance and kept clean and tidy. The floor creaks. That adds to the charm. The furniture in the lobby and the old appliances on display give a sense of what it must have the hotel experience decades ago. Street parking is available but is limited. However, there are many 2- and 3-hour parking spots within a couple blocks.

Really charming place in an amazing location in downtown chilliwack. Couldnt have asked for a better homebase to explore the town!

There was quite a few homeless in the back where we parked which was concerning. The hotel was very musty smelling and the room did not have a hairdryer. The towels were on a rack over the toilet and when I grabbed a face cloth the whole rack fell into the toilet. Not the best set up but live and learn.

Very cool historic property.Lobby is full of antiques and beautiful old wooden staircase. Modest room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Excellent value and friendly service. Location is great. Lots of shops and restaurants close by. We will definitely come back.

If you like character and history this is the place for you. However, if you like shiny new things that glean with stainless steel and glass this is not for you. My wife and I stayed one night on our way from Kamloops to Vancouver airport. We had driven past Chilliwack a number of times and finally decided to check it out. The Royal Hotel is much more interesting than the generic accommodations you get near the airport. It is a step back into the past, with a lobby that is almost unchanged from its 1908 beginnings. There are lots of fascinating original furnishings, and one imagines all the feet that have trodden the original floors. This would not be the place for the Holiday Inn ("no surprises") kind of guest as there is a feeling of being lived in but that was part of the hotel\'s charm for us. We arrived quite late, and rang the bell to be admitted by a very friendly concierge we could call on at any time. Linens, towels and the room were clean. The floor was creaky, the bath was actually in the bedroom and you could almost hear the ghosts in the attic. We loved all that character. It\'s situated slap in the middle of the downtown which is charming with great care taken in restoring the old buildings. When we were there (June 2024) the restaurant was closed awaiting a new tenant so we enjoyed our breakfast at the Uptown Grill in the restored downtown instead.

Really nice little hotel. Limited food options in that street and nothing close by walking distance opened until 10 or 11 am. Lots of homeless around, caught some breaking in to my car when I went out to get something. Other than that I have no complaints about the hotel. Would stay again

Standarden var faldet dramatisk i forhold til tidligere ophold. Man kunne ikke få morgenmad. Der blev ikke gjort rent i de 3 uger vi boede der, ejheller skiftet sengetøj eller håndklæder.
