Hotel extremely dated no breakfast but pool and hot tub was great to have for the kids

Room appeared well maintained and quite clean, cleaner than most motels I’ve been to. Property seemed well maintained and quiet. Price was reasonable for the spacious 2 queen bed room. Only a couple negatives: 1. The shower in our room had only 2 settings that worked, scalding hot or freezing cold, when you turned the knob to where warm should be, the water just didn’t come out, so you had to burn yourself or freeze - there was also no tub stopper so we couldn’t just fill the tub with some of each and have a bath instead. By the time we realized this, we had already had pool time and were trying to rinse the kids off and put them to bed, so it was too late to do anything about it. 2. Expedia lists the hotel as having an indoor and outdoor pool plus hot tub, the company’s website says the indoor pool has been closed since 2022 (which is incorrect because it is currently open) and that the outdoor pool is seasonal. When we stayed there June 26/27, 2025 the indoor pool was functional and well maintained, but the hot tub in the pool room was not functional. There was a separate building on the other side of the property with a hot tub that seemed like it was probably functional, but was covered still as nobody had opened or used it yet that day, but very inconvenient if you want to use both the pool and hot tub because you have to walk across the entire property. The outdoor pool was closed even though it was the end of June already, which is generally considered summer time.

Great pet friendly property. Scored lower because of cold hot tub, non working Sauna.

Comfy bed. Room was nice and cool. Swimming pool was nice. Staff very friendly. Parked right outside the door to my room. Very handy. Will definitely stay again.

Room was what you would expect from a budget motel, but the sheets were clean and the room was good. The highlight was the outdoor pool(which was open from 5pm-10pm), it was deep and fun for us and the kids! Easy walking to downtown golden , so nice not to have to use the car after driving all day.

Mary's Motel is convenient to everything in Golden in the city centre. Excellent location, but the amenities are nil (both pools are closed, ice machine broken). The TV in the room had to be unplugged and plugged in numerous times to turn it on (after having the staff come and turn it on for the first few times, it was figured out that it had to be unplugged first). The towels are small and stained; the pillows were flat as pancakes. We went to the Bargain Store and bought pillows after the first night. All this and $180/night. The staff are nice and doing their best, but the convenience of the location was not worth the price paid.

Pool was dirty and hot tub not working. Was unable to enjoy these amenuties

Had to ask for new bedding, stains, sheets had tears noted. Bathroom door/handles dirty/stained. Bed made loud noises like about to break. Baseboards dirty, fridge top seam filled with black dirt. Had to ask for bath towels as only small ones. Room smelled like old smoke. Never again!

Hotel pet friendly. Staff not very nice, almost rude when mentioning having a dog. Bathroom was durty with hair in the tub. Not enough towel for everybody (just 2 large size for 3 adulds and 1 child). No breakfast. Too expensive for the stay.

The bed is very dirty, hair and the bedding is very older.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. It was extremely dirty everywhere — even the towels had dark stains, the window screens were torn, and the radiator in the bathroom was covered with grime. The sofa looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages, making it unpleasant to sit on. At night, the power went out when I used the hair dryer. There were also so many mosquitoes. For such a high price, the room was really not worth it. I will never come back again.

I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone. It was so dirty! There were stains on the comforters the 'white" towels were grey, and the smell was so bad that we didn't even stay and had to find new accommodations. Don't waste your time or money. When I emailed back to complain no one will even answer me. Expedia also tried to get a hold of management because of my complaints, and no one would respond to the either. Stay away from this accommodation.

Way too dirty. The room wasnt cleaned at all. One family member who was using another room felt something crawling on her leg while she was sleeping, and it was a roach. This motel is very cheap but there is a reason…..DONT BOOK THIS MOTEL

Easy check-in and allows pets, but the room was stale. Sheets, towels, etc. were not fresh, so can only assume they make up the room and just leave it until the next guest comes. Shower had mold problem.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The room was not properly cleaned – I found tea stains in the drawer, hair on the bed, and the washroom door lock was loose. The towels had yellow stains and the microwave was not clean. Basic cleanliness and hygiene standards were missing, which made the stay very uncomfortable. I hope management seriously improves their cleaning standards, because this was not worth the money.

Outdated, dark and dirty.

Easy to access. Rooms are clean, but old. Bed was hard, but if you’re tired, you’ll be fine. Bathroom fixtures straight out of 1970, but clean. A/C didn’t work too well. Manual dials at 6 foot level. Many food options within walking distance. Price was decent for this high price area.

Checked in and got set up. Had something to eat and showered.Television wont turn on. Offic closed at 11 :(

The mattresses were old and soft.

The 2 men were friendly and accomodating. Had to come up at 7 p.m. last night and get the hot water working. But only 7 minutes of hot water this morning. Wife could not shower.

Needs updating, the rooms are worn out.

Nice. Room was redone but the mattress seemed to slope to the west.

When we arrived late at night, around 11 pm, the receptionist told us our booking was cancelled. But our booking was still there on the Hotel.com app, no one cancelled it. And why would we if we were coming. He asked us to pay new price which is $40 higher than we booked. We were tired, the kids were tired, and ran into this situation. Then a guy came in at that exact time asking for vacant. I didn't notice at that time. Now thinking back, I think we were set up to pay more. They ended up charging us higher.price than we booked. Be careful with this motel.

The guy at the front desk was fabulous! I checked in very late, the office was closed…..but they found a way to still get me into my room!

I called the property 3 times and it went automatically to voice mail. When I got there the desk clerk said they are so busy and could not answer the phone. When I checked it he was not a pleasant man. He was just rushing for what I don't know because the property was not busy at all. The rooms were clean however the fridge ice box was falling apart. This is why a gave it a 3 rating.

We had a great stay at Mary's Motel. The service was excellent and while the property is a bit older, everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is perfect - next to Whitetooth brewing and only a few minutes from the main downtown street. Value is great for a simple place to rest your head. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating and we will definitely be back!

The staff was very rude and the rooms were full of mosquitoes. It was no clean and it was smelling so bad. And while paying for the room, the receptionist was very rude and he was talking about how much money do we have in our accounts or not! I mean it was late at night when we checked in and he was asking these kind of questions and that too in a very unrespectful way. It was a bad experience. You need to improve cleanliness and your staff. They should know how to talk in a respectful way.

Squeaky beds, not enough towels for 3 people. Front desk service was not very friendly

Close to Downtown, ample parking space. Seems like they are understaffed though, called Front desk twice, no response and no call backs to follow up. Cleanliness was satisfactory. Had a good experience overall.

Marys is very convenient and our room was pet friendly. Beds were comfy and it was nice to unload right into the room. The area is what makes it amazing, the bridge, river, restaurants and the brewery all right there.

Sorry to say but the whole towns prices were higher the the quality of rooms. The fridge was in need of defrosting and the electric kettle was gross inside. But otherwise, the place was nice in its old style simplicity.

This place is a dump. Room floors were dirty. No hair dryer. Coffee was trash. They cheaped out on everything except the price of the room. Could not connect to wifi. Stay somewhere else

Stayed for a quick night as a place to sleep before waking up early to hike in Banff the next day. Average room, good enough for a place to sleep. Only dissapointment was no coffe cups or any glasses.. we ended up having to drink coffee out of the maker next morning as we left before front desk arrived.

There was a Keruirg coffee maker in the room but no coffee pods. Very disappointed 😔

No garbage or recycle bins, limited coffee supplies. In the old days this would have been a $70 room.

We had dozens of mosquitoes, which appear to come through the old weather stripping. The coffee pods were old and exploded in the Keurig. Staff didn't care.

This was a very nice overnight stay and the front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming and responsive to our requests. The room amenities were sparse and it would be nice to have real glasses and cups - otherwise this was a great little stopover and close to downtown and the covered bridge.

3 points! The drive-in motel was good, room was clean, fresh and comfortable with an ample parking and the property located in downtown and walking park nearby. 2 points was lost because they misled us about they're "plated breakfast" and we're really looking forward as we're on our next trip the next day. But there wasn't. Sad, but it was a false adverstisement. And it was never explained to us that almost all of their amenities are still closed, which we never knew it wasn't mentioned to their advertisement as well. Don't get wrong, still their location and housekeeping department are awesome!

Poor for £100 a night! Bed sheets were stained and threadbare. Towels were stained and threadbare- couldn’t use one bath towel as it was disgusting. Pillows lumpy, bed ok. Not a comfortable stay at all, couldn’t wait to leave in the morning.Very basic motel, clean enough but the bedding and towels need replacing and furniture was old. Only positive was the new coffee machine - bought pods at grocery store but only polystyrene cups provided at motel. I booked a deluxe room, goodness knows what the standard room is like. This was not a deluxe room!
