The place looks good when you pull in but it’s a bit sketchy when you look closer,, long term low income tenants live there too, some ok ppl, but some make you remember to lock everything up in the parking lot. They had a pool…it was pretty uncared for and dirty, we actually cleaned it up a bit before going for a swim. Area is within walking distance of lots of things. It’s not a horrible place, but it’s not a great place either. Middle of the road verging on dicey

It had been raining the day and we arrived in the early evening. The owner cleaned the pool and opened it up just for us. My kids really enjoyed this hotel.

The deluxe room is very spacious but so run down with a broken closet door, 2 knobs missing, precarious ceiling fan with a bare bulb. The light flicked in and off in the double bed room and some broken blinds. It was so run down but actually completely clean. The pool was dirty and some guests decided to get to the equipment and cleaned it but also put chemicals in and openly said that the test called corn10 and she put 15. The area is very loud. We did enjoy the walk downtown. And it was actually really clean.

Reasonably priced but a bit shady with permanent residents on site. The new owner said they are getting rid of the inherited permanent people, but they add a shady aspect. Nice location downtown, so lots of dining opportunities. The outdoor pool was enjoyed immensely by our granddaughters. The premises were acceptably clean and the lady owner was very friendly and helpful. Not sure I’d stay there again but the stay e had was pretty OKAY.

The Motel feels old and unkept. Has a cool set up if it was taken care of . Got a room that slept 3 people, but only got 2 pillows and no shhets or blanket for the 2nd bed. I had to ask for more of that stuff and also more towels. Very few pieces of cutlery for the kitchen so bring your own if you stay. Best part of the Motel is the pool but even that it is showing its wear. There is duck tape along the top edge of the pool and the walkways are full of cracks. My feet were full of dirt from waking along the pool like it hasnt been sprayed off in long time. There are dirty old wires hamging on the sides of the building connecting to the AC units for the rooms. This place needs some TLC.

I slept on a pull out bed but there was no sheets or pillows for it. I went to the drive-in and didn't get back till 2:00 so couldn't tell anyone, too late. I did inform manager in the morning. They did nothing to compensate me for the mess up. I had a terrible sleep and needed a 4 hour nap the next day. I had to use the blanket off the double bed to lay on and the bedspread as my blanket. The chairs by the pool were broken.

When I checked in, I went to the first room they gave me. The bathroom sink was dirty in the bathroom tub was dirty. The counters were grimy. The bed had smears on the pillows and hair in it. I went back to the front counter and told him I was not going to stay in that room. They gave me a second room, which was only slightly better.

Drawers had dirty things in them, leftover halloween candy wrappers, 3 little spider toys, opened teabag, dirty fork, nacho chips on the floor. USED towel hanging on back of door in bathroom. Shower had plastic wrap chunk tapped on to it and red soap stains (Definitely not cleaned). Neighbour’s were yelling and talking loudly until 2:40am. Staff came and asked them to be quiet but the noise continued. Woke up every hour and could still hear them talking until 7am. Horrible night. There is a cute coffee shop( Triumph coffee) around the corner to thankfully make up for lack of sleep.

The room we stayed in had bugs in the bathroom. The room smelled like an ashtray, it hadn't been cleaned in at least two week from all the dust/dirt and past guests receipt on the floor. The floors were so dirty that threw out the socks when had worn inside because they turned pitch black and we had to wear our shoes inside for the rest ofnthe stay.

There is nothing that l liked except that it is within the city. The property is very dirty especially the inside and it smells cigarette. They need to improve their hygiene and customer service as well. Thank you!

It's a old building with limited facilities however the location is good. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable..There was no exhaust fan in the washroom. Also the shower was not properly functional.

the place looks good from the outside, but don't let that fool you, have a look at your room before you take it. super outdated, peeling paint, 1960's air-conditioner that couldn't cool a bathroom nevermind the whole room, dirty hand prints on pretty much all the walls. Arrived 5 pm, opened door to 45 C blast furnace, the room reached 25 by 430 am just in time for us to leave, with no sleep. Would not stay there again even if they paid me.

We stayed for four nights and were extremely disappointed. There were bugs on the bed, the TV and lamp didn't work, there were no essential kitchen utensils like a cutting board or spatula, and the shower was a weak trickle of water at best. Most unacceptably, despite obviously knowing the length of our stay, there was nobody in the office on the day we checked out. We had to call the staff and even then, sat for nearly two hours, past noon, for someone to finally come into office to return our cash deposit, seriously affecting our subsequent trip. Having lived in Canada for nearly three decades now, this is by far the worst hotel/motel experience I have ever encountered. I will not recommend this place to anybody!

The property itself is older and starting to show signs of being kinda run down looking. You are also right in the middle of downtown, so not the safest feeling neighborhood. We did not get the chance to check out the pool, but they said they had one. The bed was comfortable and the was plety of space in the room. The air-conditioning worked great. The staff was friendly, but needed to be reminded twice that we asked for extra pillows and towels, took a few hours before we got them. Overall not too bad for the cost.

Bathroom toilet and tub base, exterior grouting, not totally clean. Shower head broken. Coffee maxhine stained in well. Side table lamp didn't work. TV, which is the smallest I have seen in the past ten years, remote controls had to be replaced. I paid on check in for 3 days including a 200 dollar damage deposit. Two emails, shortly after, showed I paid for 3 nights twice. Alltough it was refunded the next day when I brought it to attention it is not something that I ever dealt with before. The owner/ manager was clerk and not very friendly on checkin, and not always readily available. He did have a better attitude the 2nd and 3rd day. Ps Upon heading to my room after check-in A lady( before me) was rushing down to towards the office Complaining about bed bugs. I checked my bed, it was OK. I would not stay there again!

Our bathroom was missing a shower curtain, the coffee maker basket was moldy. I’m pretty sure that they only regularly wash the sheets and the toilet. The walls, bathroom sink, and floor were dirty. The bed was comfortable, though lacking in the usual level of pillows and blankets. It’s sad because this place could be a really good motel with some more daily care and a good scrub. At some point, they were clearly trying to make a nice comfortable place, but the maintenance just isn’t there. I saw a good relationship between some of the patrons and the owners. And one of the guys who worked there, noticed that our keys were still in the door and gave them to us… overall our experience with them was pretty good but the motel just needs a lot more love. It was $100 cheaper than everywhere else within a 50 km radius and I suppose we got what we paid for.

These units need a LOT of work. Not enough outlets. The one behind the TV has 6 things plugged into it including microwave and fridge. Bathtub does not drain. Desk and furniture way too large for the size of the unit. Can get to the few outlets they have. Volume on TV did not work with remote so sound was full blast Has 12 cup coffee maker and they supply 2 individual coffee packets typically used in individual cup machines.

The owners don't open up their office til 930 am, we were checking out 2 hours earlier then that, so we called the number as they needed to release our deposit. They refused to come down and do that and said they would do it once they opened the offfice for the day and send us a confirmation receipt via text message and they never did. In the room and outside the room smelled like cigarette smoke and was very dirty. Was very unpleasant and gave me a headache and made me feel very nauseous. The shower had very little water pressure. Was leaking and literally had a bandaid around the leak to "fix it". I felt very gross and dirty after staying there and throat was very sore from the smell. Definitely would not recommend or ever stay here again.

The new owners are amazing. They are very kind and helpful. They are doing everything in their power to make it a better place. Huge upgrades! I have stayed here for a week every two months for the last year. Huge difference (in a good way) every visit. Not to mention, a guest next door had a medical emergency and the owner sat with her (and I) for over half an hour waiting for the ambulance. Very calming and caring.

NOT TRUSTWORTHY. I booked a room over a month in advance and paid upfront. The night of my stay, not long before I was going to check in, the motel text me that they overbooked and couldn’t accommodate me. I had to find another motel last minute and pay double. The motel ignored my texts and calls and still have not refunded my money. Do not book here. They hardly apologized and inconvenienced me greatly.

Schell Motel cancelled my reservation via a text message two hours AFTER check-in time (I hadn't arrived yet), saying they were overbooked and blamed Expedia. I was left having to find alternative accommodation which resulted in me being out of pocket. When I called Schell Motel they offered no further explanation or alternatives or any support in finding a different place to stay.

This is a budget motel and we got what we paid for. The staff were excellent as I had reserved and paid for 2 nights but we had to leave after the first night due to a family medical emergency. They refunded the one night even though I booked through a 3rd party (expedia).

The property manager was rude to me when we checked in. The manager was not there when we wanted to check out. They charged us a $300 damage deposit which I wanted to have refunded on checkout but the office was closed, and there was a lineup at the door for checkouts. The room in general was in very poor condition, microwave was damaged in the coffee pot did not work in the morning. The pool was nice though I'll give them that. Other than that very disappointing. I have to go back and figure out what happened with the damage deposit though.

I loved the area, it's convenient. The creek is beautiful with the sound through the window. The property has so much potential! The staff was so friendly, especially the young man at the front. It is definitely run down, and could use some updates. But the beds were comfy, it was warm and cozy! It was quiet and I had a great sleep!

The motel is what you would expect for 90$ a night. The room was dirty and run down and the pool was also very dirty/ messy around the pool. The bed linens and towels were stained/ not cleaned. We had to strategically plan coming to and leaving from the motel as there was a line up of sketchy looking people buying drugs out of the room below us. The location of the motel is convenient as you’re right in town but there was a large amount of homeless people around the motel. The woman who helped us for part of the check out was nice but the man who checked us in and finished our check out seemed mad to have to do his job. Room also was not serviced or cleaning during our 3 night stay. Overall it wasn’t great but it was cheep and we enjoyed being a 15 minute bike ride from the beach and close to restaurants.

The property was rundown, it’s an older property that has been minimally maintained. The manager said he would be back at 9 am for check out and we left at 9:30 and he still had. It showed up. There was a homeless encampment across the street, which made the stay a bit uneasy. The room was clean considering the age of the building. This place could definitely use some upkeep .

There's lots of homeless in amd out of one room in particular. Rooms are old and dirty. Didnt feel safe with my children at all. The front staff you cant even hear when he speaks. Overall experience was terrible.
