Sky Rider Motor Inn

It was a great place for us to have a break and see the sites. The pool was a hit with my kids in the 30c days and a much enjoyed break from outings!

The pool was not working and it was extremely hot while we were there. It’s a good value for the money.

We stayed here for 5 nights with 2 Adults and 2 children. We enjoyed our stay. Here are pros and cons Pros: Staff/cleaners were super friendly Large car park outside of room Laundry facilities Room was clean Bathroom was modern DVD and games at reception Cons; Pool was cloudy Laundry dryer out of order Room smelt damp musky Shower door would not close properly unless pushed hard DVD player not working Some lights not working in room Don’t serve breakfast Front passage ways/walkways around rooms could use a clean as there is a build up of rubbish/leaves and was not cleaned once in the whole time we were there.

Clean room and quiet area. I found the bed quite hard. I booked this motel because it has a pool, (staying with kids ) but the pool area was unkept and the water was murky .

Great motel! Good size rooms with numbered parking spaces. Pool & BBQ area well maintained. It’s a shame there’s a mechanic with broken down cars situated right in front of it, as it ruins your approach to the motel.

I was impressed by the quality of this motel. My room was spotlessly clean and nicely updated, with every convenience one would expect. A toaster was a nice touch. It's obvious the owners take pride in the upkeep of their property. I particularly like the convenience of literally parking at your front door at this traditional one level motel. No stairs to lug your luggage up to distant rooms. The motel is conveniently located with only a very short drive to Katoomba and Leura. As it's ocated off the main highway, it's quiet at night, with only light traffic on the nearby Old Bathurst Road. I found the staff friendly, efficient and welcoming. I noticed a large library of board games and DVDs in reception, which would be good for families. I would gladly stay at the Sky Rider again.

The pros are that the room was very clean and that the location is convenient. The cons are that the room was quite noisy (traffic on the road which is close and an automotive repair shop is located directly in front of the motel), and the pool could have been cleaner.

The hotel’s website and Hotels.com descriptions are very misleading. The breakfast room is permanently closed. The pool was not in service the day we arrived. The hotel is older and not renovated, so even though they try to kelp in clean (and toilet, shower, and sheets were perfectly clean) there is the dust of years on all the ledges and the carpet is absolutely disgusting. It is inexpensive, at least, and does provide a mini fridge, toaster, hot water kettle, and plates/glasses.

Room was dated, smelled mouldy and presence of mould could be observed on the walls. Other than that, it was okay.

The property overall was was just run down and bad, although clean for the most part the ceiling was covered in what looked to be black mould and the whole room smelt of mould very strongly. The air-conditioning units filters looked as though they had not been cleaned in weeks and the bathroom overall was just a little grimey. The bed was clean and comfortable however the lingering mould smell made it hard to relax at all. The fold out couch was also very disappointing as the mattress was nothing but springs with a little fabric on top making for a very uncomfortable sleep. And the lack of overall lighting in the room was a little strange.

we have stayed here a few times now but my last visit was not so great. Service was excellent but the room although clean everywhere but the ceiling. Mouldy ceiling, the room smelt damp and musty. Room 46 caused me to have irritated eyes, breathing and forced me to spend the night with the window open which made the room too cold. Eventually I slept in my car. I left early after hardly no sleep. Seriously this room needs immediate attention.

The motel was good for a one night stay. My only complaint was that there was a fair bit of mould in the room. Not obvious at first, but on the curtains, window frames and bathroom. The bedding and carpets were clean.

We found our room modern and very clean. Staff were very welcoming.

This property is really badly maintained and superficially cleaned . Not only did the bathroom tiles need a good scrub but the shower floor had broken tiles. The basin was cracked and the interior needs a good paint especially around the front door. Room service was terrible. They sort of made the bed, didn't change the towels, empty the bin or wipe down the bathroom. Overall it felt really grotty and I'd classify it as cheap and nasty. I will never stay there again and wouldn't recommend it under any circumstances.

Always our "go to" place when we visit the Bkue Mountains. Staff friendly, room always clean and quiet, comfy bed. Another great night stayed at this hotel last night.

Good value accommodation. Very well equipped, good size, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with good shower. Only 2 negatives, lighting not good (I was ok I have a backlit kindle - but if you are reading a book it’s too dim to read!) and the heater was not powerful enough to heat the room on a cold night!

Rooms set up with refrigerator, hot pot, coffee cups, glasses, plates, bowls, cutlery, instant coffee, teas, creamers and a welcome biscuit. My queen room was large and clean. In addition to bed, room was outfitted with large closet, dresser, 2 bedside tables with lamps In room table and chairs large enough to dine at. Traveled with my 2 adult sons and had joining rooms. Rooms had heating and air conditioning units. Nice little table with 2 chairs outside rooms. You'll need a car to get around. Would definitely stay here again. Older property which has been updated and well maintained.

Bed was hard and air conditioner didn't put out enough heat for winter.

Older style motel, clean but bed was uncomfortable

Stayed at this motor inn and couldn’t be happier! The room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet, making for a very relaxing stay. The staff were absolutely lovely—friendly, helpful, and welcoming from start to finish. The location was perfect too, close to everything we needed. This motel is on the outskirts of katoomba but easily walkable into town. A bit tired in places but spotlessly clean rooms, really nice helpful staff, very quiet and convenient. Leanne and Harry on the staff team were extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you!

Accommodating staff for late arrival

I had two rooms booked for an overnight stay and the hotel was well located, clean and had good heating for the cold days in the Blue Mountains. It was well supplied with plates and cups and crockery and the bed was very comfortable. All just as expected in terms of facilities. However the service was under par. The reception was not attended when we arrived and when we knocked on the window of the residential quarters next to it a rather shabbily dressed man appeared. The key to one of the rooms was very difficult to use and we had to go to reception every time we needed to get in. However the bigger problem was that at the time of booking I elected to pay at the Hotel. But to my surprise I was not asked to pay on arrival nor on departure. I later learned that a charge had been made without my authority and to the incorrect card. This was a problem with Hotels.com providing one of the cards on my account but in this case the wrong one. This created logistical problems and SkyRider told me to go to the booking agent and the booking agent said they can't help and I need to deal with the hotel. Finally the next day I spoke to a very helpful and understanding lady at Sky Rider that fixed the problem in no time. However the angst and the waste of time undid all the good will of an otherwise pleasant stay.

Close to lots of blue mountain attractions, clean, warm and comfortable.

Easy access to motel. Was a bit noisy from highway traffic.

This property offers the basics and gets the job done. Not ideal if you do not have a car. A great location for people doing bushwalks in the area.

The property was very quiet overnight and the hosts welcoming and accomodating. Location a bit away from the main street but short drive was great during busy times in Katoomba

Close to Katoomba and Scenic World.

A little far from downtown Katoomba by foot because their is nothing to eat nearby. But no problem with a car ! Owners very friendly and helpful.

Whist this hotel had a nice quiet, comfortable room, which was maintained clean and tidy during my stay, it was inconvenient from the perspective of having to drive into Katoomba for food, meals, etc.

This is a standard motel experience plus a pool. They used to do breakfast but no more

Swimmng pool. Think eating needs to be taken down from website as people like us looked for eating options but there weren't any

It was fine. Very plain. Nowhere nearby for a meal. Nice and quiet. Comfortable enough. TV placed on a wall in a position it was hard to see no matter where you sat. Very noisy fan in the bathroom

False information given in website regarding breakfast room and room service. Breakfast was not available either in Breakfast room or room service so we gad to wait until we were on the road to find something to eat.

It was unfortunate that the dining area was not open for breakfast or dinner as I understand that the business had just changed hands. There were however facilities to cook your meals using an outaside bbq. Other than that we were hapy with our stay for a family of two adults and two children under 8 thanks.

Really good old school motel, out of town a bit but probably best value stay in the mountains, 200 yds to terrific Indian restaurant,

Comfortable and warm. Tea and coffee making facilities available. Not too far from Katoomba town centre and The Three Sisters. We had dinner at a lovely Indian restaurant within walking distance.

We stayed three nights and at a budget price the accommodation was very good. The bedroom was large and most importantly very clean, towels are in need of replacing. Our room included a microwave and kettle , plates and utensils so we were able to reheat food and eat in…it’s a shame there is no dinning room as I would have enjoyed getting out breakfast at our accommodation. Would I stay there again or recommend it to my friends? my response is YES, it’s an old fashioned motel at an affordable price with very clean and comfortable beds.
