Makai Club Resort

A bit dated but that's not what we were there for- everyone working there was very welcoming and kind. It's nothing fancy, but had everything we wanted, including a stash of dvds for loan, coffee every morning, water refill, games, pool/hut tub, bikes, and snorkel sets. Being able to easily snag umbrellas and chairs for the beach was sooooo nice. Really loved it.

Beautiful walking areas with amazing views along the golf course. Well appointed pool area was fun for the kids.

This property perhaps is best appreciated by thinking of it as a 'condo ' rather than a posh resort. Very well run, clean, close attention to detail, free parking, loaner beach gear etc. If you are expecting water slides and a lazy river...no. Medium sized pool w/ hot tub that we rarely shared w/ anyone. Do note that the upstairs neighbors were loud -- early (4 and 5 am) in spite of 'quiet time'. We complained once and then let it go... Great home base to Hanalei and local beaches.

Great location, close to dining options, a grocery store, etc, just a few minutes drive away. Note you'd have to drive to any of the nearby beaches. Very clean, comfortable condos. Kitchen fully equipped. AC units in the living room and bedroom - both worked well. Staff courteous and helpful. Plenty of parking. Quiet area. Appreciated the small laundry detergent packets to use with the washer/dryer in the condo unit. Super convenient. Recommended.

Safe and quiet, free beach chair, umbrella and bike rental.

Very good overall although the dish washer and wash machine were very loud. The pool is very small and too cold to use in February. The units have louvers not windows so a/c is not needed/availble. The location was very good and the cottage we stayed in provided some privacy.

Nice condo with lovely grounds. Initially was a little hard to find. Hard to turn left into highway. We had a bottom floor unit but unfortunately very noisy people were above us which interfered with the peace. Convenient to rent snorkel gear on site. Staff were helpful.

Makai Club was a great place to stay. The accommodations are clean, spacious, well-appointed, and views of lush vegetation all around are beautiful. Staff is friendly and helpful. They loan you beach chairs, umbrellas, DVD’s, and more. There’s a lovely pool and jacuzzi. Great location near Princeville and Hanalei.

Good price but had some real issues. Bathroom water damage was a big concern. Mold presence on shower ceiling and mold/mildew issue under the bathroom sink. Also got terrible mosquito bites while sitting on patio that faces jungle like forest area.

There were roaches in the room and it smells musty

This hotel was a great home base for our Kauai vacation! The room was clean and the kitchen & washer/dryer were so convenient. Definitely recommend!

The 2-bedroom unit we stayed in was very clean and well-maintained. The resort staff were very helpful and friendly. There is no a/c, and the windows have movable blinds that aren’t all in perfect condition. What this means is that the temperature in the unit is close to the outside temperature. Fans are installed in case it gets too hot. You can also hear the roosters crowing loudly in the middle of the night, the blinds are not soundproof. We had a parking problem one night when all available spots outside our cottage section were occupied, but it was resolved the next day. I parked in an adjacent lot and walked back. Overall a great location in Princeville and good value for the money.

The golf course was amazing! Resort is definitely old and outdated including furniture, carpet, flooring, etc. One bedroom did not have doors to the bathroom, toilet and shower. I find that really odd, that I have to sit in the toilet and there is no door to shut. I am a very private, and that was really frustrating. The other bedroom did not have a door at all and it was next to the living area. Again, no privacy. Windows in the bathroom are exposed to the parking lot. The bathroom sink faucet were very hard to turn on and off. The tub shower was very stained. I wish I can attach a picture. I brought one of my white towels from home and took a picture of it next to their towel. Their towel was supposed to be while but it almost looked brown. I

We had a 2-bedroom cottage at Makai Club, and it was not at all what we were expecting. Our particular unit had a funky smell to it. The cottages all have shutters instead of windows to help with airflow to cool them off (no A/C), but that does mean that you hear EVERYTHING that goes on around the property, from your neighbor opening a soda can, to the yowling of the feral cats, or worst of all, the incessant crowing of all the roosters from 4:00 AM onwards. So, the cottages feel less like a cottage than a very robust tent... We chose to leave early and go to a more traditional facility with walls, windows, and a lot less crowing.

Our stay far exceeded my expectations. We are a family of 5 (kids ages 9, 12 and 14). We’ve never been to Hawaii and were looking for budget friendly options that included laundry and a kitchen. We found all that plus more at Makai! Check in was smooth and easy. Our cottage was just across from the office and was much more spacious than I expected. The kitchen was well stocked with enough place settings and silverware and cooking pots/utensils and pans for the 5 of us (I think there was 8+ place settings and many different sized pots and pans). The kitchen was immaculate. Everything was spotless and in like new condition. I would hire their cleaning staff in a a heartbeat if NY wasn’t so far away. I do wish the provider salt/pepper and cooking spray but mostly because I feel bad having to buy and then toss them. There was also a blender, coffee maker (don’t forget to bring coffee filters), toaster, electric tea kettle, microwave, full fridge/freezer and stove/oven. The washer and dryer worked great. They provided us with beach and bathing towels. There was both an indoor dining area and a patio set on a large deck overlooking the golf course. The beds were comfortable. There is no AC but there are fans and we stayed cool enough with just the fans and open windows at night. The pool and hot tubs are small but not in great demand so we often had them to ourselves. The kids loved them. We used the grills one night too which was nice. We highly recommend the cottage!

Beautiful view from our windows and we enjoyed the patio area. We had left one of our backdoor windows down some and we received a phone call informing us of this! Glad they called, as it was raining very hard!!! Friendly staff. Answered my text message very quickly when I had a question. We would stay here again and highly reccomend it!

We stayed at Makai club cottages for five nights and liked our stay very much. The condos have a living room with kitchen, washing machine, dryer and a spacious bedroom. Also very friendly and helpful stuff. The only negative I would point out is that you can hear everything from the neighbors, as the walls are paper thin.

Comfy condo perfect for two! We so enjoyed the lanai and having a fully appointed kitchen. The check in was easy and the resort has anything you could need for a day at the beach. The location is great! Easy shopping nearby, close to Hanalei.

The structures themselves are 1970's construction. The interior of the condo I rented was updated. It's basic, not fancy but has everything one needs and the location is prime, there is abundant wildlife both and feline and chicken to endlessly entertain whilst sitting on the lanai. The kitchen was well stocked with gear, I did cook a couple of lunches and prepared all breakfasts here without any issue. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and quickly responsive. Great vibe. The prices are reasonable for Princeville. I did not sit at the pool but walked by several times; smaller than the photos indicate so not really for swimming to exercise, but a very pleasant place to hang out. I saw a few people there quietly enjoying the sun every time I passed. Not busy, just one or two folks. There were also multiple chaise lounges, two grills and a picnic table right next to my condo building overlooking a jungle forest with a view of the mountains in the background. The only complaint I would have is that there is not adequate sound insulation (in my opinion) in the ceiling and I could hear the footsteps of the guests above. That said there was no noise through the walls so not bad overall. Plus the north shore in general shuts down early at night with sound ordinances, so overall very quiet! I would absolutely book again. If you're looking for a fancy place that's IG bait this isn't it. But the entirety of Kauai is breathtakingly beautiful so this covers good basic accommodation.

place was wonderful. We loved staying here. Unfortunately, we stayed on the lower level and you can hear all the noise from the people upstairs, which made our stay very uncomfortable.

We were kinda upset that our unit didn’t have air condition considering one of the pictures we saw has a unit in the common area. The windows or basically open air because of the non air condition which then allowed us to hear the roosters all night long. If you like to sleep on vacation at night I wouldn’t recommend this location. The people and communication was great but the noise from the road and roosters was awful.

Our 1 BR condo had a good layout, newish furniture and fixtures, and all the equipment we need -- the washer/dryer was especially welcome. Perfectly clean. Management easy to deal with. 20 minute walk to Hideaway Beach, our favorite. Rec Kalypso Grill for excellent food - get takeout to avoid the wait line.

Two towels. That's all I asked for. We arrived Sunday, and the instructions were that if we needed a change in towels we would have to request the day prior (which was Tuesday). OK fine. But really is it too much to ask for if we missed the request by a day? We stayed an entire week, and instead of ensuring guests were completely satisfied we were told there would be no towel change. The staff only communicated by text which seemed impersonal. We expected more from a top rated resort property. Instead, resort polices were used as barriers to enforce soft rules that could easily be solved through simple accommodation. We will take our business elsewhere next time we visit Kauai. So much for the Aloha experience.

Good and helpful people at the front desk!.

The property was well kept. Our unit was clean well equipped and spacious. We had lots of privacy on our lanai. The staff at the club house were very helpful and friendly. It was a great plus to be able to loan beach chairs/umberella for our stay. The cooler in the unit was a real plus. We enjoyed our stay in the area.

Not friendly management. apartment old but nice, you can hear though anybody aside or on the floor on top of yours. Pool is really tiny. Events are poor and not well promoted

Provided all necessities. Staff was wonderful.

I would give it a five star rating but a couple of things prevented me to give that rating. First, I requested for an early check-in but ended up with a late check-in due to the room not being ready. Second, I was promised to received texts from the front desks for a couple things including when my room would be ready but did not. I had to go back to the front office to get the communication.

Great stay, staff was very helpful and accommodating.

The best part of our stay was coming into the property. We arrived late in the evening. Driving in pouring rain and having I difficulty in finding the property. I called the resort and Juan stayed on the phone with me and stood out front until I arrived to ensure my wife and I arrived safely. His professionalism and customer care were absolutely outstanding. My wife and I look forward to future stays at the resort.

We stayed here for 8 nights during a family vacation for 2 adults and 4 teens. I was very happy with the size of the cottage, plenty of room for everyone. It was nice to come back from a day at the beach and use the BBQ grills for dinner. The location is ideal, just a few minutes from the bay and near many other fantastic beaches. You can't beat this place for the reasonable price, would highly recommend.

Great experience! The one bedroom condo is very spacious and all the amenities you’d want for a multi night stay. The property is located in a beautiful area just a short drive from beaches, hiking, and restaurants.

The lay out and space of the condo was wonderful. Very spacious. Condo kitchen was filled with equipment and dishes if you wanted to cook. Beds were comfortable. this is an older/refurbished property; air cooled vs air conditioned. Great food options just beyond the lodge on main highway

I loved staying at this resort. My only complaint wouls be that they do not have AC so during the day it gets pretty miserable, i had to go buy a new fan. The grounds are so quiet and you can hear everything around you if peoplearetalking loudly or any other noise nearby. Loud roosters will wake you up lol. I had to have a white noise sound machine for my baby on and they told me to turn it down.. when ended in my baby crying half the night which was more of a disturbance then a white noise.machine. thoight it was pretty ridiculous a white noise machine was being complained about. If anything im helping other sleep and drown out the roosters ans loud people outside? But aside from all of that this property is beautiful, pool is great, wish they gave you some kitchen amenities (literally no spices,cooking oil.. nothing at all, not even salt) parking is easy and free, foodland is 4 min away, great location near many beaches. Overall i would recommend this place ans stay here again.

We enjoyed the amenities (beach chairs, ice and cooler for the beach, and umbrella). The people at the reception area were very helpful. The location was great for what we needed. The only thing we could have used was some more basic kitchen items more than salt and pepper.
