Viiking Spa Hotel

We spent a few partially rainy days in the spa. It's slightly rustic eastern european style spa, the lobby bar food and service was good, breakfast was good, room was fine, yet it was not properly cleaned when we arrived. The SPA was fun, contained many saunas, a bar and and entertainment for our ten year old. All in all well worth the money and nicely located for adventuring to the old centre and to the beach.

I read reviews about unpleasant staff but chose to somewhat disregard thinking everyone has a bad day every once in a while. But it turns out reviews about staff were fairly indicatitive of day to day behaviour. From the 2 staff outside on smoke break who were annoyed by the sound of my luggage on the sidewalk, to the annoyed/irritated responses/attitude from reception, to me standing and waiting for chit chat between staff to wrap up before they even glanced in my direction - just wow. I don't understand, nor do I wish to. I would not stay again. Rooms are ok. "Shower" is just a curtain in part of the bathroom with a squeegee to remove all the water from the floor since there is no real shower. Odd. No shampoo and the soap in the shower appears to be the same as the handsoap at the sink. Complimentary candies in the room are either melted or 'previously sampled'. Seems I wasn't the only one who did not enjoy them as there were old, unwrapped ones on the floor which gives a pretty good idea how thorough the 'cleaning' is.

Great location, short walk to beach and town center. Excellent room. Wonderful reception staff- we left a pair of glasses and the kind lady at the reception desk called many times to reach me. Thank you! Highly recommended!
