Laguna Surf Lodge by SCP Hotels

We had a good time The pool the best part and the fact that is dog friendly we loved it. The views are amazing and is very easy to access to the beach.

We had a great stay at Laguna Surf Lodge. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Great ocean view from our balcony. Only minus was that there was no gym available.

Loved the property and the oceanfront room. AMAZING ROOM! The only disappointment was the ‘AMENITIES FEE’. on top of the $38 valet fee….. a bit much…. Don’t cha think 🤔

Very nice. Relaxing amazing views and access to the beach. Getting coffee in the lobby was kind of a bummer. Hitting/pool area is okay. Open air colors of dirt in the hot tub. Was older but also kind of nostalgic, kitchy and very bohemian. Overall great hotel. Will come back.

This is not a resort. It's more like a roadside mom & pop motel that happens to have direct access to a nice beach. The location is convenient for laguna beach but the better restaurants are all several blocks away, the places immediately around the hotel had mediocre food. The building itself is old and outdated, not bright and airy like the pictures imply. Having beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards was convenient. The room was labeled "peaceful" but it was not quiet at all. Street noise kept us awake half the night and a neighbor opening and closing the door constantly kept us up the other half the night. This was made worse by the super loud squealing portable air conditioner that required the window be open since the mini-split AC unit was broken. The small pool was OK but cold, could have used a good scrubbing. Staff was friendly, although not available until 7am if you are an early riser. For $500 per night, it's not remotely worth it. Parking is valet only and costs extra, no type of breakfast or on-site eating is available.

Excellent location...easy walk down to beach, lounge chairs, towels and umbrellas set up for you, newly remodeled. Also an easy walk to downtown. Travis, the valet, assisted with luggage, beach set up and had delicious cold water infused with fruit. A great stay.

We spent two nights here while touring colleges. Location is incredible and loved the amenities! Beach chairs, games, volleyballs etc. the hot coffee and tea in the lobby was a welcome touch as well. The valets are awesome and so helpful. We will stay here again.

Our stay was Amazing! Hotel undergoing renovations, but it did Not interfere with any part of our stay. Great view from lawn area Rooms are spacious and comfortable. No TVs in rooms as they are called Peaceful rooms. Pool and jacuzzi are enclosed with an open roof, which made lounging in the evening comfortable. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Good location close to shops, restaurants and a market. Will definitely stay here again

Property was nice, staff was great and attentive. Bathroom needs more counter space or shelving. Rooms were spacious. Hot tub needed cleaning. Pool was good. Nice stay overall.

This hotel was absolutely amazing to say the least. We had an ocean view suite with balcony. I did not expect a small kitchen with our room which was a great. When you walk out the back sliding door we had a balcony platform with lounge chairs, small table and 2 small dining chairs. The view was SPECTACULAR!! You can hear the waves crash while sitting inside of your suite. There was a sitting area with a pull out couch with a super cozy twin size bed sofa thing (not sure what it’s called). The room we stayed in was 507. BOOK THIS ONE! price was not bad for the location and beach view. On top of everything the hotel has its own private beaches and they provide beach chairs, umbrellas, outdoor shower, and even a personal speaker if you forgot yours at home. There is also a private pool and spa onsite. Valet only here but worth it. We brought a large SUV and there was plenty of space so we didn’t have to worry about door dings. Staff was friendly and helpful. You are in walking distance from plenty of restaurants, Ralph’s grocery, gas station, coffee shops, bar, and souvenirs. We will return again!

Clean room and friendly staff. Loved the beach view

I stayed in the Premium Ocean Front Junior Suite and it was such a great experience. The hotel feels really well taken care and welcoming as soon as you walk in. The room itself was very clean and the view from the balcony was unbelievable. The staff were also amazing. Everyone I spoke with was super friendly. The front desk especially was very helpful with any questions I had. The bathroom was super clean with a huge walk-in shower, and I loved that the room had a big mirror too. Overall, the hotel felt peaceful and relaxing , and the staff made it even better. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Laguna.

We booked this "peaceful king room" with the hopes that we would have an actual quiet and peaceful stay. However that was far from the situation. We walked in and there was dust on the bedframe and dirt on the floors. The balcony was blocked by a roof, allowing a great view of the roof, but not the beach/ocean. When it was time for bed, we heard a dog barking for over an hour. Then all through the night we hear people walking up and down the stairs lugging their suitcases as they went up and down. When 8am hit, construction was going on making it loud then too. Additionally when we requested items or asked about situations, the staff looked at us with a blank stare like asking for toilet paper refilled, refreshing our towels and such was a complete shock... OH and then, we had to pick up the toilet paper in the lobby and load it back ourselves. It was the worst hotel customer service I think we have ever had. We are not paying hundreds of dollars to be our own housekeepers.....

Overall was a very nice hotel and great location. After entering our room for the first time, we found hanging dirty towels behind the bathroom door. Housekeeping needs to take their time because we found the towels and a couple dirty areas which should’ve been cleaned up. The property was nice and had easy beach access. Fun to sit and watch the surfers. Great location close to downtown.

The rooms have been updated, but there are still some issues with doors and windows that don't open and close properly and some dead bugs on the window aill

The rooms were clean and comfortable, the soft music playing and the diffuser was a lovely touch, it was like being in a spa, there was complementary tea and coffee in the mornings in the reception area, the outdoor seating and fit pits with the view of the sea was lovely.

This property was as advertised! Clean, updated finishes, kind and helpful staff, and the beach access is stunning. I would stay here again.

Delightful boutique hotel right on the beach. Super friendly staff, clean facilities. Steep pathway to the beach, but worth it for a slice of heaven. They supply beach chairs, towels, & umbrellas so just show up! We hope to return!

I didnt like all the rooms dont have a tv inside them

The staff was wonderful. Every single staff member was respectful, helpful and attentive. Overall the stay was great, however we were placed facing the street. It was incredibly noisy due to the main street traffic. In addition, there is no central unit of air conditioning it is a portable AC unit so the window has to be cracked open furthering the noisiness and moths/flies coming in. In addition, when the shower is running, the pipes emit a high frequency ringing pitch that amplifies in the bathroom making the shower a bit unpleasant if you are sensitive to those types of noises. (Can create headaches). Lastly, I woke up with bumps all over my body I believe due to the bedding. Overall the stay was convenient and staff was kind.

The hotel is an old 2.5 stars motel but all remodeled and very clean. Floors, tiles in the bathroom, furniture all feel new and modern. Great outdoor decks with nice deck furniture. Lots of nice landscaping. Looks great and well maintained. They have aromatherapy and meditation music in the room upon arrival. Nice touch. However, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s old, we could hear people above us walking, the AC unit is old wall unit, the bathroom is tiny with very small square sink and zero counter space in the bathroom. Pool is very basic. Rooms are very basic- all white (fresh paint and clean), but absolutely no decorations. Full kitchen in one bedroom unit, but cupboards are empty, no paper towels, no utensils. Having said all that, I would stay here again for the location on the beach, with direct beach access, they even have complimentary beach lounges and umbrellas. Best part is amazing decks with ocean views. Walking out of the room into a deck with a million dollar view is worth it. All the little inconveniences pale in comparison. Walking distance to restaurants, shops. Just have right expectations about the facilities, tho everything is well maintained. Room was cleaned upon request without issue. I have to comment on customer service. It is rare these days to have this level of customer service- quick , courteous, and friendly. Overall 5 star experience, but I had to take one star out for how basic the rooms and facilities are. Keep in mind $38 parking fee.

We had a lovely room, unfortunately down a set of stairs and a steep ramp down to room 101. This was hard on our elderly knees. After looking at other available rooms we chose to stay in 101... quiet and private. However, hot water takes a significant time to reach this room, there is no TV and there are only 2 small drawers in the night-tables. The room needs a "dresser". Remarkably the wifi was strong enough to stream Amazon Prime.

Great view! Super location in Laguna. Nice room! Bathroom could use a s table because there is very limited counter space. Guest rooms need a flat screen television.

2nd year in a row, this has been our go-to family get-a-way!! Not only is the hotel itself absolutely beautiful, but the staff is very hospitable and friendly. They helped with all of our bags, were constantly going above and beyond helping us get stuff from our car and recommending great places to eat and visit. Huge shout-out to Chasen, Trevor, Gabe, Juanita and Rhen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ they're personalities, level of hospitality, and just overall amazingess is something to be rewarded and a huge reason we'll be coming back. On our last day Gabe even offered to take us to view other rooms that we were interested in. Thanks Gabe you're the man! The rooms are also beautiful with plenty of amenities and fully renovated and updated. The views are ridiculous with plenty of relaxing areas around the property to soak up the weather and breath taking view. Plus with beach access and everything you would need to enjoy the beach provided to you by the hotel, this place has it all. Can't recommend it enough.

This was one of the best hotel stays I have ever experienced. The check in process was easy and quick. Andrew who works the front desk, was kind, warm and extremely efficient. Gabe, the valet was attentive and addressed me by my name even though I didn't remember him! I can't wait to return later in the summer.

Extremely Tranquil and Relaxing, yet conveniently located near everything you may want (beach, dining, supermarket). All the things needed for the beach are conveniently at your disposal, really seamless experience. The staff is what really puts this place on the next level and helps set the tone for the stay. Bravo!

The only thing we liked was the views from the room. The room itself was too small with only a bed in the middle of it. The weather was poor and we wound up staying inside for quite some time but there were no chairs or table. We wound up sitting on the bed for hours. No TV either. Very little counter space in the room or the bathroom. Service lagged from when we asked for it until we got it. Needed to ask more than once. Parking is non-existent except for valet which cost $38 a day. Amenities cost $25 a day and we basically got nothing for it except 2 beach chairs and an umbrella for 2 days. We won't be going back.

Good small and clean hotel with a great location

This is the perfect hotel when visiting Laguna Beach. Location is absolutely perfect. The hotel views are breath taking and you have direct access to the beach. You can Uber here from John Wayne and not need a car. Walking distance to all restaurants and wonderful non tourist boutiques. The hotel is beautiful nice and clean. The staff is amazing. We will be back for sure!

We stayed at the Laguna Surf Lodge for 3 nights in their peaceful 2 bedroom family suite.We had a very relaxing stay. The room was spacious enough for myself and 4 teen girls. The beds were so comfortable and pillows were like clouds! There was enough storage space for our group and the room had a small fridge and table with 3 chairs. Our room faced PCH, and although you could hear some street traffic the AC was enough “white” noise to block the street noise. They also have a white noise machine if you don’t need the AC. The oceanfront rooms are definitely something I’d like to experience on a future visit, though! The property itself is beautiful! Plenty of outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the epic ocean views. There is a nice beach right in front of the hotel with chairs and umbrellas as well as some boogie boards for the kids. The location in Laguna Beach is the best! You are a 5-10 minute walk to Main Beach—close enough, but not right in the middle of weekend chaos. There are also restaurants and shops steps away. Plus, the free summer trolley stops right in front of the hotel. We did not use our car the entire trip :) The staff at this hotel was the cherry on top. Helpful and always available to answer questions. From the front desk to the valet and everyone in between, we never encountered anyone who was not happy to see us. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family and look forward to our next visit!

The staff is really friendly and helpful. Location to downtown is walkable. The Lodge is on the beach with security gate to access the walkway up to the Lodge. Beautiful landscaping on the path down to the beach and up from the beach. Beach towels, lounge chairs and beach umbrellas available. Highly recommended 😀

Hard not to love a room with a balcony where both have a beautiful view of the ocean. Slept with the slider open listening to the waves on the beach. Direct pathway with just a few stairs down to the beach!

The location was beautiful. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The three things that were not ideal for us were no tv in the room (my friend “requires” a tv to fall asleep, no coffee maker in the room (coffee and tea in the lobby, thank goodness!), and no dresser in the room (I could not get organized). We enjoyed how walkable the location is, we loved the seating overlooking the Pacific, and the valets were all amazing!

This location is absolutely fantastic. Beach front. Less than 15 min walk to downtown and on the way are tons of shopping and dining options. My room was the ocean front queen suite which was actually much larger than I thought! The space was bright and open. Bed was comfy , staff was very helpful for the most part. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that the place is pretty dated and needs some tlc. The bathroom is very small ( but kept clean ) , the lighting was terrible through the unit. Most of the lamps didn’t stay on once I finally got them on. If the air con kicked in then the lights faded. Not the worst but kind of annoying. Headboard on the bed was detached and slammed loudly into the bed anytime you move. Living room tv was so small for such a large space. kitchen had no towels or dishes other than 2 cups for water no paper towels either. Housekeeping was hit or miss. Some days they were amazing and some days they didn’t clean half the place ( dishes left in the sink , paper towels left around the living area ). The door was a bit sticky as well. It took a few tries to lock it properly. Overall it was a beautiful spot to stay, the Lounge areas , fire pits and beach chairs/umbrellas were an amazing addition. I would stay here again but would set my expectations accordingly. You’re paying top dollar for the location for sure but it’s worth it unless it’s a rainy crappy day and you’re stuck in the dark room with no dishes and a very very small tv.

Although there were no dining facilities in the lodge, there were SO many great options all within a 5-10 minute walk! Direct access to beach with secure re-entry, helpful and pleasant/cheerful staff who really care about the environment. Very clean rooms and attentive maid service. Well done
