Hochelaga Inn

The Inn is a historic bed and breakfast that was featured on the haunted walk we took which was very cool! Our room was decent but comfortable for one. There was one comfortable chair and the bed was quite high so a challenge to sit on if you are a petite senior. There was soap shower gel etc. for one and only one bedside table. Parking was an issue - only 9 spots when there are 22 rooms. There was free parking on the street and in a municipal lot but only from 5 to 9 am on the street and until 8 am in the lot. No sleeping in if you’re in the lot and street parking wasn’t always available. This said, the staff were great, the breakfast was great, the location was great and the common areas were beautiful.

The a/c in the room was extremely loud. The patio outside wasn’t clean nor kept up. Had to pay for parking which they should at least reimburse for when they only have 9 parking spots and 22 rooms.

Excellent adorable place, very charming, lovely clean accommodations, great location for walking attractions and dining out. Delicious breakfast options, coffee was always good and hot when I went for it! Dry nice areas to sit and eat or hang out on location including lovely outdoor patio and veranda. Will definitely stay there again, hopefully for a longer trip! (Kingston more charming than I expected too!!)

What an absolutely stunning Inn. I stayed in the tower room and it was really beautiful. Comfortable bed, great shower, overhead fan was great for sleeping and I love the extra touches of sparkling water, snacks, and coffee and tea in the reception area. The staff is very friendly and parking is convenient.

Die Lage war perfekt um die Stadt zu erkunden. Leckeres Frühstück. Schöne Terasse mit Sitzmöglichkreiten. Begrenzte Anzahl an Parkplätzen vorhanden nach dem Prinzip "First in first served" . Kein Aufzug.

Stayed one night. Check in was good, we were escorted to our room which was in the adjacent building. Room was good, clean, good bed. It’s an old building which brings charm and character but also unavoidable noise from other rooms. Not a big problem, we didn’t have any noisy neighbors during our stay. The breakfast was good with most necessary items. And fresh (warm) menu items at a surcharge. Parking was full when we arrived so we had to parallel park in the street which is okay for overnight but we had ro move it before 9am. Luckily a spot in the came open so we could move it to their parking just before breakfast. It’s conveniently located and you can walk to the marina in 15 mins.

Hôtel charmant. Chambre spacieuse et bien équipée, mais avec les contraintes d'un vieux bâtiment (ouverture/fermeture de portes, pallier et planchers bruyants) mais rien qui empêche de s'y sentir bien. Accueil chaleureux. Petit déjeuner complet Places de parking de l'hôtel limitées

Parking not available so I parked in the public parking and paid the fee starting 8 am for 2 hours. However it said it included parking. Parking only is available for a couple of early birds.

Fantastic 1-night stay! Beautiful mansion with friendly staff in an attractive neighbourhood. Our lovely room with balcony was super comfortable and clean. Fabulous continental breakfast. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate available all day next to breakfast room. Excellent, chronological write-up of the Hochelaga and local history on a wall in reception area. Easy walk (800m) to ’Chéz Piggy’, a cool litte restaurant in a beautiful limestone building down an alley. Best to book, we didn’t but were lucky to dine at the bar and watch the amazing barkeeper :-)

Wonderful place! The staff are friendly, the rooms are spotless, and the hotel is beautifully decorated, making it feel more like you are staying in someone's home rather than a hotel.

Very disappointing.The room was not as depicted in the photos .The carpet was stained ,the quilt and throw pillow had yellow stains on them .The wall was badly marked and and chipped and an unfinished repair was attempted .The skirting boards were dirty and the bedside lamp had so much dust on it .The balcony was in disrepair and looked unsafe .Approached reception staff and showed them the problems ,but Inn fully booked and no extra linen available .

Cozy and charming Inn in the heart of Kingston. Staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, great breakfast. Room was impeccably clean; I couldn't be more pleased with the stay.

The inn was in a great location and the staff were helpful and the breakfast was nice, however the state of our room was poor. Our bathroom in particular was not cleaned well - the curtains were visibly dirty, there was thick build up of dust on the bathroom fan, and certain areas such as the toilet paper holder were visibly dirty. Many details of our room were in states of disrepair, such as a very, very slow draining sink, cracked and peeling paint on the ceiling.

Lovely hotel. We had a spacious, clean room. Breakfast was excellent. Very convenient for visiting Kingston and Queen's University.

The property needs renovation. I have stayed many times over the years and had a particularly poor room which should be priced much lower than it was (mould in shower); thin walls.

Staff pleasant, not exceptional. Property was poorly kept. Broken glass windows, broken window blinds, cobwebs and ants in bedroom and bathroom, noisy. Badly soiled and ripped stair carpets. Paint blotches around window trim, poorly painted. A very disappointing experience.

Hochelaga Inn is an old, traditional building from 1800-something. I understand that many people book this Inn for that reason, including ourselves. It creaks and squeaks on all sides, part of the charm. Friendly staff, but the room was too dirty. The carpet was so filthy, it looked like it was from 1800-something. The bathroom was also not cleaned, stains from the previous tenants, and hair on the wall. There is coffee, tea and water available 24 hours a day, and a simple breakfast is included. There was a mobile air conditioner in the room, very pleasant with 25C+ outside temperatures.

Whimsical property. It could have been amazing but the rooms and common areas need a deep clean and some upkeep.

Lovely hotel, fantastic room- only down side is the rooms are not soundproof and if there is someone above you they are like a herd of elephants, this can’t be helped as the buildings is really old This is my only negative comment, everything else brilliant

Lovely historical. Rooms very small.

Situated in a tranquil area, cozy room, got most amenities one need, helpful staff, lovely breakfast. But if you are noise sensitive, you should seek other options. My room situated on the ground floor next to the wooden stairs. You can always hear people stepping up floor/ talking outside your room. The aircon is quite noisy too.

The room was clean and modern with a nice view of the garden. The continental breakfast was very good.

I really wanted to like this place, but I can't help but feel disappointed. First, the room itself looked nothing like the photos. It was modern and you might like that, but I chose this place for the charm and there was none of that in this room. Second, we stayed in room 102, which was right by the main desk and front door. The noise that kept us up until the late hours, past midnight, and woke us up around 6AM the next morning when the staff was getting the breakfast etc ready. I regret coming here and would not recommend it to anyone else.

Nice property. We stayed in a room right by the front desk and it was very loud.

The beds were very comfortable. No elevator, we were up three flights. Rooms are very small, but clean.

We enjoyed one night at the Inn. Although beautiful our room had an extremely loud a/c floor unit that cycled on every 5 minutes and lasted 10 minutes with a very, very loud rumbling. No sleep that night. The Inn was very nice, staff was very nice, great location if you like a short walk into town.

Hochelaga Inn is a lovely inn with friendly and helpful staff, especially Austin who shared personal tips around town. Rooms are spacious and 10-12 min walk from city centre. Enjoyed our weekend getaway!!

Beautiful inn. Check in was quick and easy. We were there to celebrate my birthday. When we checked in we were upgraded and found a nice treat in our room. The whole place was clean and welcoming. Breakfast selection was good. We'll definitely be coming back to this location.

The building is nice and in a good, convenient location. A decent free breakfast is included, but there are also options to have an additional cooked breakfast which costs around ~$8 and was very nice. I spoke with two different staff members, both of whom were very helpful with giving me recommendations/directions, and I was also able to check in early. The room I had was nice. One thing I did find strange was that there were three panes of glass on the windows, but only the bottom two were covered with blinds, meaning it was bright early in the morning. I personally prefer a darker room to sleep in and was awake pretty early. The note for Gold members is that your confirmation tells you that your booking includes "$13 food and beverage (soft drinks) credit per stay". I asked a staff member at reception about this, and was told that meant I didn't have to pay for the additional option at breakfast, and they would put a note on file to this effect. However, in the morning a different staff member said I had to pay for the breakfast and the $13 credit covered the can of sparkling water and three Ferrero Rocher chocolates left in my room. It wasn't a lot of money, and the breakfast was very nice, but I did find this whole thing frustrating. I hope that how this credit is communicated is changed so that other guests are not left disappointed.

The room is so clean and well appointed. It was too hot so I asked how to turn it down but the controller was broken but the fellow was very nice and hunted down pliers to lower it. Used the ceiling fan and all was well. Great location, so many restaurants in walking distance.

There are only 9 parking spots for 20 rooms. There is city parking behind the Inn, but with a 3 hr. limit during the day, at a cost of course. All street parking in the area is also 3 hr. limit. I booked for 2 nights, scheduled for day surgery on the second day. I parked in the city lot the first night, then needed to leave my vehicle for the day. The staff member at the desk was rude and dismissive of my problem, suggesting I find parking elsewhere. While on site parking in an historical Inn may be limited, it is inconceivable that an offsite arrangement is not provided. Why should any traveller face that uncertainty? I will never stay there again, and advise others accordingly.

We were well greeted as we arrived later in the evening. We were promptly checked in and able to make our dinner reservation on time.

The lady that checked us in was very helpful. My only small negative comment would be the continental breakfast which is included in the room rate. We went down for breakfast 2 days at the same time - the first day the buffet was full & the second it was almost empty. Also there was only one clear table in the breakfast room. Other than this our stay was 1st class & we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Unique old mansion. Very quiet. Walkable to downtown area. Close to shopping and restaurants. Staff at front desk so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was continental style and very generous. Place is old but well maintained and has character.

Very nice continental breakfast was sufficient but would be nice if there was not an extra $8 charge for bacon and eggs. It could easily be included for the price they charge for a room. Otherwise it was a beautiful place to stay and staff were kind and knowledgeable, I would go back again.

Lovely old hotel in a great location. Everything was great although the breakfast was a bit chaotic (nowhere to sit, too many people, not enough tables or food and with minimal choice).

The inn was a beautiful historic building. It is an easy walk to Queens campus, waterfront and downtown. The room was very clean except for the mold in the shower. There was tea, coffee and hot chocolate available at all times. The inn was quite expensive and I expected it to be a more personable experience. The common area wasn’t appealing or cozy, there were no games or books, no maps of Kingston or lists of restaurants, and the take out breakfast (renovating kitchen) was not very good.

I liked the quiet, residential neighborhood close to all the attractions. The building is charming but shows its age. The kitchen is under renovation and the boxed breakfast was a bit disappointing. I hope he rooms will be updated as well to justify the steep price tag. All in all we prefer this charming alternative to the generic hotel rooms we stayed before.
