Casa Palopó was easily one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! The staff were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. They booked us tuktuks to travel around, and allowed us to preorder breakfast and take it early on the day we left. Each time we came back to our room, they had been in to tidy up and leave us a little gift! The hotel and grounds are gorgeous, and the views of Lake Atitlan are breathtaking. The hotel is a short walk from Santa Catarina Palopó, a beautiful Guatemalan town which felt authentic and friendly. We did find that it was easier to eat dinner at the hotel in the evenings, as it got dark very early and we did not want to walk back along the road from the town. It is very much a hideaway, perfect if you are looking for rest and escape. There are activities available at the hotel too, and a wonderful pool and jacuzzi at the villa in the grounds. The decor is truly beautiful, and everything is finished to an excellent standard. Thank you so much for a perfect stay.

Everything was clean and sparkling. Casa is a totally colonial experience with steps and cobblestones and the most amazing panoramic view of the Lake and three volcanoes.

We have stayed at the hotel -prepandemia- in several ocassions. This time we got hold of the only room option available in the newer building above the main hotel, problem was too many stairs, which make it dependable on shuttle runs to reach dining options within the hotel.... walking up the hill to our room is risky for anyone not in good shape/health....also there are no hand rails, hence posing addionatl risk of falling. I did like the excellent service from all the staff, always ready to help and assist ieven on nonhotel matters. The newer part, once solved the issue mentioned above should provide a good choice for staying in the future, is quite, nice pool and jaccuzzi and good spacious rooms.

it is high up but close to a small town and transport is easy available - it has a magnificent absolutely stunning view - it is so special - waking up with the view of a huge vulcano i. the window, a big veranda with great views , a swimmingpool and hottie with great views, beautiful rooms and bathrooms . huge common areas -a restaurant and very friendly staff - it sextremely beautiful- we had one of the suites - the stunning view came with a small downside of 150 steps but we managed to never have to go up by always using the tiktuk when coming back from syrups and always eat in the room - teh entire menü is available in room - food in small town was much cheaper - prices at hotel are very high but they try to have fancy food - town restaurants were a very amazing alternative though - and

Beautiful property in an amazing location, with amazing views from the room and common areas. Don’t forget to check the upstairs pool area, which has even better views. The hotel restaurant is excellent. I was a bit disappointed with the steakhouse Kinik, down by the shore, so I recommend you stick with the main restaurant. I also took the private motor boat to the pueblos; although pricy, it was worth the convenience. The concierge gave me good and accurate recommendations I highly recommend this place

This hotel is beautiful! The food was great, we were able to enjoy the pool at the villa, and the view was the best. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Great stay, we enjoyed the restaurant at the lake as well; very delicious and good cuts.

Casa Palopo is heaven on earth. Every part of the hotel is thoughtfully decorated and stunning- with the kind of originality one can only find in an independent boutique hotel. Refreshing pools surrounded by curated cactus gardens, backed by the mountainous jungle and overlooking the teal Lake Atitlan. Kayaks and paddle boards are provided to make the most of the lake. The restaurant serves incredible cocktails and cuisine. The team is friendly, fun and very attentive. Little touches make the stay pure magic- a selection of wellness drinks to start your day and a unique gift in the room each nigh.

My wife and I were highly looking forward to staying at Casa Polopo. We have stayed at Relais and Chateaux properties around the world and have grown to expect a certain level of luxury and service. Actually our main reason to visit Guatemala was the lake and property and views it provides. Keep in mind the price for 3 nights with taxes was $1600 USD The property did inform us several days after booking (and also after booking the flight) that there is some construction going on. There is not a lot of other luxury hotels in the area, so after discussing with the hotel we decided to stay there anyway. I was told that it was not in the lobby or by the rooms. Upon arrival, the actual road to the property was closed, my wife and I had to walk 10 minutes to the gate and the taxi waited 45 minutes for the road Blockage to clear in order to bring our bags. The front gate had about 20 workers and I thought we were at the wrong hotel. There were workers within 10 feet of our room using hammers and chisels all day long. There is no air conditioning at the property. It was impossible for us to stay in the room and relax due to the noise, which is a main reason to visit the property. I left feeling like I was scammed out of a luxury hotel experience. I asked them for a discount for the inconvenience. They did offer a complimentary dinner for the inconvenience which is almost laughable. The lake offers incredible views but spend your time at another property.

First time visitor. Our room had a beautiful view. It was a very relaxing location. Everyone was beyond professional and accommodating. We did have an issue with our room AC unit which leaking water from a clogged drain line... they were prompt to address and gave us a remedy. We were there for an overnight stay otherwise I may have asked for another room. The weather was cooler and refreshing so the AC at that moment was not a big deal. Thank you to all the staff at Casa Palopo.

What a beautiful property with the luxury amenities of a 5 star hotel. The chef is amazing and we ate several meals in the beautiful ambience of their dining room. Comfortable beds and beautiful room with a view of the surrounding lake and mountains. We would highly recommend this hotel and its beautiful staff.

it is high up but close to a small town and transport is easy available - it has a magnificent absolutely stunning view - it is so special - waking up with the view of a huge vulcano i. the window, a big veranda with great views , a swimmingpool and hottie with great views, beautiful rooms and bathrooms . huge common areas -a restaurant and very friendly staff - it sextremely beautiful- we had one of the suites - the stunning view came with a small downside of 150 steps but we managed to never have to go up by always using the tiktuk when coming back from syrups and always eat in the room - teh entire menü is available in room - food in small town was much cheaper - prices at hotel are very high but they try to have fancy food - town restaurants were a very amazing alternative though - and

First time visitor. Our room had a beautiful view. It was a very relaxing location. Everyone was beyond professional and accommodating. We did have an issue with our room AC unit which leaking water from a clogged drain line... they were prompt to address and gave us a remedy. We were there for an overnight stay otherwise I may have asked for another room. The weather was cooler and refreshing so the AC at that moment was not a big deal. Thank you to all the staff at Casa Palopo.

Loved my stay here, comfortable and clean. I did get sick when I ate at the restaurant both times. Also the guy at the front desk that spoke English as well was rude. Whenever he would be assisting me, he would be helping others at the same time. Whenever I came to the front desk and he was helping someone else he didn’t even speak to me. When I checked out, he didn’t even say thank you or anything. At the price you pay for this hotel you expect the customer service to be on point. Besides him, it was a good stay.

We were not able to make it to this hotel due to protests in Guatemela with road closures preventing travel. We can however attest to the fact that the hotel staff checked on us during our travel and kept in touch to make sure we did not get stuck in a road blockade. This level of attention to customer safely shows the level of service provided at this hotel. I would like to give a shout out to Lopez who was very kind and worked with a sister property on Antigua to resolve our dilemma

The hotel restaurant is excellent. I was a bit disappointed with the steakhouse Kinik, down by the shore, so I recommend you stick with the main restaurant. I also took the private motor boat to the pueblos; although pricy, it was worth the convenience. The concierge gave me good and accurate recommendations I highly recommend this place

Absolutely love Casa Palopo and so glad we decided to stay here during our trip to Lake Atitlan!! The views are amazing and the service and kindness the staff showed us was outstanding. They staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We had NO issues with communication or hot water in our rooms. So I'm really surprised by the other reviews left. The restaurant in the hotel was lovely and they were happy to accommodate to my food allergies with no problems!!! We found the location we'll worth the views of the lake and Volcanos. And easy walk to Satana Catarina, a beautiful local village. Easy Tuk tuk transport to get to Panajachel for more restaurants, shopping and transport by boat to other towns across the lake. I highly recommend this boutique hotel!!

Nice hotel, food was not great. Expected more for 700 per night room. Not much to do. Weather is hit or miss. Pool is underwhelming. Don’t order fish and if you can eat dinner at the restaurant down the hill instead. Fabian

Muy bonita ,el personal muy amable el desayuno no me gusto la frutas sin sabor y la mantequilla que ponen para el pan es ridicula,cenamos 1 noche y la verdad q fue carisimo una ensalada de lechuga que no era nada de especial incluso decia que venia con remolacha y nunca se la pusieron carisimo y sin calidad igual el pollo que pedimos sin nada que lo acomañaea y bien caro de verdad que el restaurante tienen que mejorar los platos ya que cobran los precios caros y no tienen mucha calidad Otra cosas que me parecio un poco abusivo es que a la hora de hacer el check outel hotel cobra una tarifa bastante alta de propinas para el personal que limpia las habitaciones entiendo que se deba dejar propina ya que son muy amables pero casi pagas extra como $15 de propina por noche y eso no te lo dicen al menos deberian decirlo cuando haces la reserva

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The views of the lake are amazing and the pool up the hill at the villa is gorgeous. There was no air conditioning but with all the windows open and a fan it actually wasn’t bad. It was very quiet and peaceful. My only complaint was when it says “breakfast is included” it was only bread and fruit which is really no breakfast if you a diabetic.

The 2 restaurants were amazing with the best views of the lake. The beds were so comfortable. Lovely amenities (French press coffee in the room, tea service at night and lovely continental breakfast). The staff were very accommodating.

One person in our party had fish at the restaurant and got food poisoning. They advertised AC, but the villa suite didn’t have ac! We booked 3 massages, they canceled 1 last minute and the other they didn’t cancel but when we showed up, she said she couldn’t stay and had to go home. They were not accommodating to anything we requested. One person in our party is older, and cannot do a lot of steps. The villa is up MANY steps and the driver leaves early, so she could not come back up to the villa, unless we wanted to wait 30 minutes for a tuk tuk. It is an expensive resort, but didn’t have the customer service or amenities of a nice resort.
