LOVE! LOVE! LOVE everything about Casablanca Inn and our stay. Exceeded expectations - especially when it came to traveling with our 15month old German Shepherd. Extremely pet friendly. Property has a fenced inn dog run where our dog could relieve himself as well play fetch. It also had a large court yard with with games for adults where you can bbq and enjoy outdoor dining. The property is across the street from Santa Cruz main beach, Pier, and boardwalk which made morning runs and walks with our dog the highlight of our stay. Our King Room w/ocean view & private balcony was spacious and equipped with everything you need to have a comfortable stay & enjoy a morning coffee on the balcony. We had such a wonderful time that we booked it again for mid September. Thank you Casablanca Inn!

Perfect location.Room was nice bur looked like they were not done with some updating thar they started.. Not the biggest deal , but there was no breakfast though it says it is available. No coffee in the lobby. And they charge you forty dollars for parking which they don't disclose until you check in ans swipe. Considering the location it was worth it...

The Casablanca is in an excellent location. Walking distance to the beach, wharf and boardwalk. I don’t like that they now charge for parking. For over $400 a night, parking your car should be included. The room was great- it had lots of space and a nice bathroom. There are people on the streets all night making noise so they provide earplugs. Two things I think need improvement- the pillows are awful!!! Get new ones that are flat.. not those hard ball like pillows. The fridge was also loud… it makes a noise all night which also makes it hard to sleep.

We arrived for checkin at 5:00pm to find that the lobby was closed with a note that stated staff would be on break until 6:00pm. What hotel schedules breaks right after guest checkin time begins? The parking is very limited as well. We had to pay for street parking until parking on site became available and even then, it was by luck as there are not enough spots available. I booked two separate family suites which were vastly different. One had spacious rooms, while the other was so packed the entry door literally could not open all of the way because the bed was blocking it. The upside to the hotel is it is literally on the beach and a short walk to the wharf and boardwalk.

If you have a stroller or are handicap do NOT stay here. No elevator. Only tons of stairs or a steep walk way. And to get in the room has a huge step. I normally stay in the dream inn and which was the same price and I shouldn’t have changed the stay. The staff was very friendly and let us borrow some stuff to go to the beach since there wasn’t a pool.

This was a wonderful property. Had a nice room, with an ocean view & balcony. I also spent time on their front patio, with a great ocean view and fire pit. The refrigerator had a freeze section, which I require, and which many hotels do not have. There was closed caption on the TV, which also is not available in many hotels. A pleasant stay.

Super dirty , I book two room , I pulled back the sheets, and they were covered in hair. My husband's bed had some black paste-like stuff on it, and the same thing happened in my parents' and kids' rooms. It was terrible.

Had an oceanfront view, which was beautiful. When I walked into the room, it smelled like cleaning chemicals, which we assume you know the room would be clean & pristine, especially with the strong fragrance of bleach. The walls looked dirty, especially by the door handle and sink wall. The door to the balcony and the restroom door would get stuck. On several occasions, the bathroom door would not open even after pushing the door . The door would get stuck in the frame. There was a point someone was in the restroom pushing, & someone was outside the restroom having to pull, & even then it was a bit of a struggle. The balcony area had a lot of spider webs The Wi-Fi did not work the entirety of our stay. We stayed three days two nights. The TV would not work consistently and granted we weren’t there to watch TV but when we were in the room, trying to relax the TV wouldn’t always work. The outlet on the table/desk area did not have power going through it. On the last night, the AC did not work. They did inform us that there would be construction going on and that is something to keep note of because our room was right at the edge of the street across from the new apartments being built. there are no elevators so when looking into this location, be very mindful of that because there are a lot of stairs or at least to our room there were. Honestly, felt the price did not match the experience I was expecting.

Room 208 had a good view. But the room wasnt very clean. Needs new paint, caulking around sink was coming out, the sunroom bed had burn holes in blanket. The floor was sandy. You pay for the view.

The location of this hotel is great, Right across from the beach & warf. We had a room with a shared patio with a partial view, which was nice. I really expected this hotel to be much better for the price we paid. We found our room to not be very clean. Hair on the bathroom floor also on the beds also the room in general was dusty.

Room was very dirty with black hand prints on the door and walls. We were hesitant to step into the shower with build up on the floor and walls. This was in an upgraded ocean view room. The most expensive hotel on our two week stay up the coast and the most disappointing.

The location cannot be beat, but the room I was in was atrocious. It has the dirtiest carpet you'll ever see, no chairs or tables, dirty walls and broken everything. Do not book any rooms in the back building. The ones with ocean view and the front building are nicer.

I really wanted to love this property, but there are definitely a few flaws. While the staff wants to be extremely helpful and is very kind, everything is a bit disorganized. While the location can’t be beat, the property is showing its age. Walls are dirty, common areas are dirty. Our room was not what I would consider a clean I would feel comfortable with when it comes to a hotel. Hair was left on the pillows. There was sand on the floor of the room. I understand it is by the beach but we did not go to the beach so I’d expect a thorough cleaning to be done between guest check out and check in. There is also limited parking. We did not want to move our vehicle in the evening for fear we wouldn’t have a place to park when we came back. But let me reiterate- the staff does try and go above and beyond to be helpful.

The property has many great rooms (~70%) and a few bad rooms (~30%). We were assigned street level rooms (bad) with no security features next to 6AM construction noises (construction was not hotel's fault, but still). Killed several bugs in room. Sad, because I love the hotel look and feel. If we had one of the nice rooms, review would all be good/excellent. Staff were responsive and polite.

It was all about the view for us, but the hotel didn’t have a closet because the fridge was in the way. It was a small room and the use of space needed to be thought out. Also, it has the privacy of a motel. The shades didn’t block any light and you could see through them. The shades were also too long and the AC blew the shades up. It was really strange. Everything else was fine.

View and location is great! Shower was cold and never fixed within the couple days we stayed. Mattress is getting old and pillows need to be changed. Or higher quality. Noisy in the morning and nights as the walls are paper thin

Partial ocean view was great. Could see ocean from bed. Volleyball courts from balcony. The only problem was the poor internet connection. But, Gave 5 stars because of value and location.

The toilet seat broke (was fixed promptly) the shower door isn’t put on correctly and the handle was loose and the floor was bubbled up. Seems like whoever flipped the room to update it, did a terrible job. Staff was friendly and helpful and the location was A+. Not worth $300+ though with a brand new Marriott around the corner.

My friends and I came for our friends 40th birthday and we had an absolute blast. The location was amazing and we would definitely stay here again. I was just a little disappointed with one thing I asked them if they did things for special occasions and they said they did so they put it in their notes to put flowers in a bottle of champagne in my friends room for her birthday and they never did, but other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Oops. We made your keys expire a day before you checked out.". Nightmare. Unacceptable. I arrived after a marathon family wedding day on my third day at the hotel with my key cards not working and a dead cell phone. After memorizing the phone number posted on the closed office (at 10:35pm) and wandering around as a single woman trying to find someone who would let me use their cell phone, feeling unsafe, I finally found another hotel whose concierge contacted the phone number for me. After waiting another 30 minutes, The employee who originally checked me in the first day arrived and told me that my keys had been set to deactivate incorrectly (she was the one who did it) And she fixed it. I'm my room at 12:05am in pain and exhausted. I was offered was a late checkout - but I had a flight so that didn't matter. For what I paid to stay here, it was very barebones -- missing a lot of things I'm used to at similar hotels-- and this just put a giant red mark across the stay. Disappointed.

We arrived for checkin at 5:00pm to find that the lobby was closed with a note that stated staff would be on break until 6:00pm. What hotel schedules breaks right after guest checkin time begins? The parking is very limited as well. We had to pay for street parking until parking on site became available and even then, it was by luck as there are not enough spots available. I booked two separate family suites which were vastly different. One had spacious rooms, while the other was so packed the entry door literally could not open all of the way because the bed was blocking it. The upside to the hotel is it is literally on the beach and a short walk to the wharf and boardwalk.

Unfortunately the hotel is accessible to pedestrians. A homeless person was screaming at the top of his lungs and banging on the windows and doors to let him inside. It was terrifying. I had to call the local authorities. I let the hotel staff know and nothing was done. Only an apology. Not even a discount or refund. Very unfortunate. I had my baby with me and it was a scary experience. I will not stay here again.

The only real problem: there is a huge construction project accross the street, construction started at 7:30 and it was loud. There was no mention on the hotel website, if we had of known, we would have booked elsewhere.

Room view was of the parking lot. The door was practically in the lobby with constant interruptions and requires the curtains to always be closed or everyone in the lobby could see into bedroom. Continental breakfast was a couple of packaged biscuits and coffee. Way overpriced for lack of privacy and view.

A 2 star hotel in a 5 star location 650 dollars a nite,no phone in the room , the breakfast consisted of bad coffee,stale waffle treats and fruit .The wifi so bad you can't even stream a movie.and a charge of 60 dollars for "misc." .also was overcharged by Expedia by 100 dollars a nite ,talked to them,and hotel management and was told there's " nothing we can do" . Never again !

We chose this property because of the views and we ended up in the back,with zero view. Looked way nicer than the place immediately next door but if i booked the other place I could have save $200 and had a view of the beach and a hot tub and pool. Disappointing when your wife wants the ocean view for your 30th wedding anniversary. The continental breakfast is absolutely a joke. I’ve stayed at tons of best westerns that blow away this measly offering… literally just coffee and cookies. If anyone asks me I would not recommend this place especially at over $600 a night.

The property itself is excellent but there is a large construction project according right next door which limits parking during the daytime and has lots of noise early in the morning. Additionally, there are very limited breakfast opportunities at the restaurants within walking distance of the property.

We were checked in my a very helpful young man when we arrived who helped with luggage and went out of his way to be useful. Unfortunately that level of service was not consistent as there is a constant rotation of receptionists/front desk team members. There is really no breakfast despite offering a “continental” service each morning and lunch/dinner options are zero in the hotel. The room, it was very comfortable though not particularly clean. The drains smell terrible and the overall interior could use new paint and replacement box-springs for the beds as ours were filthy. Check in is 4pm and front desk take an afternoon break so if you arrive early you will need to leave all of your belongings in an unattended parking lot and wait for them to reopen. We would stay again however we’d be more picky about which room we took and we’d have brought groceries to be prepared when we wanted a snack or a bowl of cereal without having to leave the property. As far as proximity to SC Beach Boardwalk, you couldn’t ask for a better location and Downtown is only a 15 minute walk away.

Overall a nice stay. Hotel is right in front of the volleyball courts next to the board walk. Staff was nice and attentive if we did need anything. Room was nice with a comfy bed. Shower has an older shower head so not so great water pressure. It was ok but if you have a lot of hair (like my daughter) it’s going to take awhile to get your hair washed. Breakfast is packaged pastries and fruit. But that’s ok the Picnic Basket is right next door and another breakfast place down the street. Nice place to stay for a good price. Can’t beat that it’s close to everything and we had an amazing view from our window.

Worst experience in a hotel. Hot in room, ceiling fans didn't work. Ask to fix them and didn't. Told us that the room would be ready soon, 2 hours later. Water pressure was really low. I don't give ratings often but I feel like I need to warn people before you spend almost 700 for a night!

Older place, very clean and in a very nice location. Got a free upgraded room and it was way nicer than I was expecting. Room 105 had a private patio overlooking the volleyball courts next to the ocean and pier. Had a small kitchen and fireplace with a brass tub in front of it. King size bed, really nice shower. I’d definitely stay here again. The staff here was very nice.
