Happy Motel

The entrance way to the room was not shovelled out, heavy snow on edge of the roof ready to fall. TV didn’t work, the plug-in did not work on one side of the room. No clock, radio there was a kitchen table but 2 of the chairs were broken. Beds were clean but 3 pillows on a double bed would not have been as thick as 1 normal pillow. Unable to adjust the temperature, only one hanger. Water stains on the ceiling.

There was a carpenter cutting wood on the front step. Several long boards were in the lobby along with sheeting covering something. I did not think staying where active construction was occurring was a quiet safe place to stay. As such I did not stay. If a charge is on my credit card I will be very upset.

Outside was horrible looking !! Inside was not too bad! NO TV !!!

Motel location was really good, easy to reach just off highway as advertised. Room was spotless and beds were good. No coffee in room but Tim Horton right across parking lot. Stairs to office were a little shaky but otherwise no problem.Good value - price was great. We would stay there again. We were happy with the Happy Motel.

The room did feel sparse and neglected. The bed and bathroom were clean, but other areas in the room weren't great. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker. Staff was fine. Our biggest complaint was with the upkeep. Our room was on the second floor accessible by wooden outside stairs. It was snowy when we arrived and in the morning the steps were icy. Not shovelled and no salt was put on. It was very hazardous going up and down with luggage. If someone had fallen due to owners neglect, they cold be sued.

Arrived it had tarpaulin all over the front. Under renovations obviously. The clerk could not find reservation on computer . I’d booked queen bed ended up in a double at queen price. Noisy and would not recommend this property to any one.

For the price a nice clean place to stay for a night.

The room was simply filthy. Bed linens and towels were the ONLY things that were clean. It looks like the floors haven't been mopped in months. Dust on side tables and TV console. Our family will remember this stay as the most terrible one. The price of $200 per night on a Sunday was just over the top.

Had 2 rooms booked. Lady at front desk was very pleasant. Both rooms were dated and need a deep clean especially around the baseboards and back of doors. One room has a broken unstable bed, the other the sink was severely backed up and wouldn't drain. Could only connect 1 device to wifi at a time. A decent spot to stop on your travels.

I don’t know who gave this motel an 7.6 rating!!! I would give it a 2! It was dirty, run down,some of the blinds were broken, bedding old and faded , hair in bed,no hand towels or face cloths. No coffee machine.sink in bathroom clogged, tv worked for 15 mins then turned off.location and outside scary to say the least. People staying at the motel were out on the landing screaming at each other. I do not recommend anyone to stay at this motel. We slept in our clothes on top of the blankets on the only two clean towels we could find.

I found cockroaches in my room

Reception was friendly. Room could use a deep clean and maintenance. Bathroom had 4 lights of which only one worked. Windows and AC let A LOT of noise in. A motel of this calibre warrants $75 a night not $160.

It was ok the tv needed updating and the cable was old. Needs a coffee maker or microwave

The room was clean and had a dead bolt but I’m glad I had my husband with me. I would not have felt safe there on my own. There were lots of dining options within walking distance and for the price that’s all we needed to get some shuteye before driving back to Ontario. That being said neither one of us slept very well because the bed was extremely noisy and the walls were far from soundproof.

The room is clean, staff is good, however the window cannot be open and it would be nice if the room provides cups and kettle for hot water. Thanks.

While the room was clean, it was very spartan and my room was literally beside the street so very noisy. I've never seen a bar of soap so small. It was smaller than a twoonie. The mattress was not my style as it was very soft and you sunk into it deeply. If you are concerned over personal security, don't stop here. The (vertical) chain lock can be undone from outside and the key is a basic house door key that I am sure is now duplicated many times over. I will not be back to this one.

Had to wait outside in the cold while the owner showed a prospective customer a room. The room I was assigned on the ground floor on a street had a window that wouldn’t close and as a single woman didn’t feel safe. Room change and the Tv had no instructions so I couldn’t work even after being shown how to do it. No cups for water and the room was cold

Very nice. Clean felt safe parking was simple. Checking was great. Unfortunately, at the time of our check-in the building had just lost hot water service.

When I checked in, the price was higher than when I booked. I questioned this and was told I had been moved to a better room. I requested the price that I had been quoted and they changed the rate back to the original.

The property was easy to find off the highway. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and answered any questions I had.

Was not informed until check-in there was no hot water despite being contacted prior to our arrival, providing the perfect opportunity for the heads up.

I will not return to the Happy Motel...I'm am 'Happy' to be checking out soon. Check-in was quick...I was asked too many times if I had pets with me, and told too many times that there is no smoking in the room. I immediately had misgivings about what to expect when I saw the buildup of grime on the windows and counter. The ambience of my room was dark, dingy with several pesky flies. The TV had no service so I asked for assistance and staff promptly responded to show me how to set it up for the ball game...but I had to manually reset the TV every 5 minutes as it would switch back to 'no service'...frustrating! The wall-mounted AC was functional, but too noisy and too close to the bed...when turned off it was like listening to street noise through a hole in the wall that also allowed fumes into the room. I feel mislead by the online information available regarding these accommodations. I do not recommend these facilities unless you like paying $130.00 for below average accommodation.

The lady, Tina at the front desk was very nice. The hotel sent a text in advance, asking us when we would be arriving. When we arrived, our room was ready, inviting and warm. Will definitely be coming back on our travels.

The stay was ok for an over night, the room was very small for the cost. Also there were people that approached us outside while we were unloading our luggage that were bumming money, so we were nervous about leaving things in our car. Probably will not stay there again when up that way.
